Great video! Needed to do a full deep cleaning of mine, was put away many, many years ago kind of dirty and your video helped in the proper reassembly of my 25 year old HP-C. They are built to last and worth the price.
Thanks for posting. Undoubtedly one of the best tutorials for a guy like me just moving onto double action airbrushes. Your video answered more than a few questions. Thanks for sharing.
I bet she still looks and works as good today as she was when you invited her into your home that very first time! I wish I could say the same about my hubby! LOL
Hi, my first suggestion would be to get some SuperLube and apply it to the piston o ring using the flat end of a needle.I would not advise something like vaseline as it can gum up and also affect the running of the brush. Please watch the video linked at the end of my vid by clicking the spanner. It will show you this process from 17min and 39 sec. If this doesnt work I would advise that you contact an Iwata service center for further advice.
What is the size of the needle, I got an HP-CH and it comes with a .03mm needle. Would it be the same needle on this airbrush since both airbrushes are so similar?
pt 2. You should give the dealer details of the part name (from the pdf) and tell them the specific issue. It may ofr may not come under the warranty (depending on age and details of issue) It may also be a worn seal due to use of certain paints. Either way The dealer should be able to order you a replacement piece for the brush. (If not covered by warranty, at your cost).
hi, the part that screws off the iwata that joins to the hose, I'm getting constant air leakage from that area, it is from inside the iwata. What should I do? Hope i'm making sense! Where you see the trigger push down on the brass tip that leads to the hose, Somewhere in there it leaks. I put on a cheap one from another airbrush and it stopped but I don't feel comfortable using another piece other than iwata. I don't even know the name of the piece.
If you go to the iwata-medea website and follow the links to iwata airbrushes, to will find listings for each of the brushes. Find the exact model of brush that you have and on the top bar of the brush detail page there is a tab ( marked Parts list) that takes you to a pdf which contains a blown out image of all the parts to help you identify the part you have an issue with. I would then advise you contact your local iwata dealer/distributor and you can describe the issue. cont in pt 2
Hi, I have a problem with my Iwata HP-C Plus, I think I need to replace the Piston O-ring, I looked at it and just don't know how to replace it ( Everytime I push down the main lever, the piston don't want to go back to original position to stop the air flow)... I already clean it, but the piston keeps on getting stock..... any help is appreciated. Thanks
If there is an issue with what you have been supplied, I suggest you contact your retailer for advice. There are a couple of variants of this model for brush so it may be a creature of your brush or you may require a new part. Contact your supplier or nearest Iwata service agent.
I have one of these and love it. You're right, it is sexy! I rarely have any problems. But actually at the moment I'm finding air is spraying through without the trigger being pressed. I've taken it apart to the degree you show in the video and everything seems clean, and it is spraying fine otherwise. Do you know what might be the problem? Also, do you regularly lubricate any of the components? That's something I have never done and wonder if it might be a good idea. Thank you for your videos.
Sorry "Super Lube" made by Iwata. I am not sure what the problem with the brush is. It may be one of the Teflon seals has perished. Or possibly that you may have some debris stopping the value closing properly. I suggest you give your local Iwata service agent ( the place that you bought the brush should be able to tell you who that is) a phone and describe the issue in detail ( such as where the air is coming from and the different reactions it has on it when moving the trigger. Good luck. Please let us know how you get on.
hi, im new to this and im trying to build an airbrush kit. please help. i have a budget of 600. take in mind i have never airbrushed before but i plan on taking this serious. i am only going to use this to paint my sculptures however. what do you suggest.
Very good instructions. You just had and replaced your trigger back to front. The bump and the little cut away underneath is suppose to be to the back. You posted this video in 2012. I'm sure you've fixed it by now.
It's sooo new and shiny, my Microns are all brassed up, and look like they've been rode hard (which they have as I paint daily), compared to that beauty.
The Real Mythril They were areas of particular interest to myself. I'll be referring to them, from time to time, while deciding which Iwata airbrush to purchase.
Iwata is a great brush but seriously fuck them with their stupid microscopic screw in nozzle! lmao :) Its the main reason why I went to harder steenbeck haha. Awesome review though of a truly awesome airbrush
So many brushes have tiny nozzles. I think the view is that it is a replaceable part, make it as minimal as it can be. The Hand S nozzles are great on size but they are also more expensive to replace if they get damaged.
What is wrong with the microscopic nozzle? I have had my new one (the HP-C Plus) for about a year now, and never have had to take the nozzle off. As a matter of fact Iwata says take it out as little as possible. Nothing atomizes paint like a finely made Iwata.
peter zebot Yup! If you look in the comments it was picked up! The joys of doing things on camera, it's not always easy to see what you are doing and you are working through a view finder! But yes, I did make that boo boo!

Thank you very much. I tried to show all the major pieces and the clever thought that has gone into it.

I bought this one as my first brush.
It's a great wee reliable brush, enjoy!
Me too :)
Waiting for my compressor to arrive
Thank you for the tips, especially the one about how to properly remove the needle.
I bet she still looks and works as good today as she was when you invited her into your home that very first time! I wish I could say the same about my hubby! LOL
Fantastic airbrush, and amazingly easy to clean.
What a beauty, I hope I can upgrade to this Iwata HP-C airbrush someday!
Very good tear down of the airbrush, always good to know what does what.
Thanks Max, glad you liked it
A very nice tear down of the airbrush.
25 years old and still spraying!

Thank you, this was very helpful. I have the HP-B, but the principle is the same.
I have the same model but the trigger piece you said was attached is not. Have no idea how to reassemble it.

I figured it out from another video. Thanks

I use super luge on a regular basis. You only need a pin point amount on each area. I

You have marked two times, I am unsure what you are trying to highlight?
