1. Just wait until his hands get bigger. 2. Someone below asked, how does a little kid do this? He understands the instrument and the music. I don't think it's just a matter of memorizing. It's a matter of feeling that what comes next has to come next. When I took lessons, I could sing the whole piece I was playing, but I always needed the music to play. I didn't have the feeling that the next line of the score was inevitable. 3. Young people keeping ragtime music alive for everyone into the future is inspiring. Thank you.
I could imagine the piano greats eg, Scott Joplin, James P Johnson, Willie 'the Lion' Smith, Fats Waller, Earl 'Fatha' Hines; all looking down, smiling & saying - "uh huh", in the affirmitive.
@@tutentyp6934 no, but Bill Evans was left-handed and lived in a different era; an era that that focused on the small combo group, eg, Nat king Cole’s trio. Had Bill Evans lived 20 years earlier being left-handed and if you focused on that, I’m sure he would’ve been as great as Fats Waller. IMHO history will highlight two great jazz pianists from the 20th century - Art Tatum & Bill Evans.
Very much like “The Cascades” with the diminished chord run up. I’m a big Joplin fan. When I went to piano lessons, was surprised at how tricky “The Entertainer” actually was to play with all those triad octaves in the treble clef. Achy fingers!
Considering that he says he has had no piano lessons, there is something about this delightful young boy's ability that is a bit beyond normal talent. I am not a good piano player, but his apparent ability to learn simply by listening to a piece is astounding.
@@MishaSkripach I wouldn't necessarily agree. I would assess that he has perfect pitch and can immediately associate his memory of a piece with the appropriate key on the key bed. He has a boyish enthusiasm for pounding out the melody and rhythm, and as he matures, he will contour his playing accordingly. Looking back on my own progress on the piano, I would say I was hindered rather than helped by an overemphasis on theory and technique by well-meaning teachers.
@@tomarmstrong1281 You should not be comparing him to yourself, he is a different kettle of fish. To be a succeeding concert pianost, one simply MUST have perfect pitch (we don't know if this boy has it, probably he does) and outstanding memory, as well as love for sounds and for musc especially. This becomes simply a given in serious piano learning. So, what to you is astounding, in reality is just a pre-requisite for successful learning as a professional classical concert pianist. It simply means the child is "the suitable kind". This only becomes clear after seeing a good hundred of such kids in person. No, nothing improves on its own as he matures. Everything must be understood to the core. Reinventing a bicycle is not applicable here, the bicycle is rather complicated.
