I left the UMC in 1976 after a sermon entitled "Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny." Dr Ray Balcom was showing off by using the fancy buzz-phrase that means "the growth of the individual mimics the pattern of evolution." The bottom line of Dr Balcom's sermon (in his own words) was, "The Bible is nothing more than the history of man's ideas about who a god might be." This fifth-generation Methodist with preachers on both my mother's and father's side of the family walked out.

She is not interpreting the Word of God through the Holy Spirit. God does indeed love us but that doesn't mean He accepts us or commits Himself to us (John 2:23-25) if we choose to practice and live outside of what His Word says is sin. Believing in Jesus means we believe in Him according to what the Word teaches. God accepts us on His terms, not ours. …because Christ Loves All and expects us to do the same. Not fear monger and drive hate. Love this pastor who can’t be a pastor in the Southern Baptist Convention unfortunately!
As a former UMC member, my early years were in light support of women pastors. Unfortunately over the years, it became clear that the scriptures covered this topic and many simply placed modern wants and desires over the Holy scriptures. I became aware of the gradual decline in adherence to the scriptures resulting in a split that should have never happened. As I started paying attention to what was leading up to the split, I could see that the women in pastoral and bishop positions were very much a part of promoting the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I can't solely blame them because spiritually weak men in these positions were just as much at fault. I'm glad the Baptist denomination hasn't largely gone along just to get along.
You love the female that claims to be a pastor even though The Bible says she shouldn't be a preacher? Just follow the parts of the Bible that makes you feel good rather than the whole Bible that serves God?
We need to take a look at our Sunday service and what we are NOT doing as the Church of Jesus Christ. Sunday service is now: bible readings, collection, prayers and liturgy. It is not about what Jesus wants us to do: reaching out to the poor and helpless! Jesus is decidedly missing from our Sunday church service! I am sorry, but Jesus life and death on Earth was not about going to Church on Sundays! Jesus life and death on Earth was not about reading scriptures. Jesus' life and death was about loving our neighbor and reaching out to them with more than prayer and inspirational readings which what church represents today! If we were really following Jesus' direction, Church would be a two day per week experience. One spent in a food kitchen: feeding the poor and a short service on Sunday planning for our work in the food kitchen.
You are right on with your comment. Following Jesus is a 24/7 experience including feeding the hungry, taking care of the poor, reaching and going into the community and world.

Being Christian is 24/7, but we chose to come together with fellow brothers and sisters to "worship God" on Sunday。
And Sunday is not the Sabbath ! It was changed by the Catholics from Saturday to Sunday. So most Christians only believe in 9 commandments ???
