Our UMC disaffiliated from the UMC and we're now Global Methodist Church and we've been growing.

Looks like the holy spirit UMC claim to follow has failed to convict them of sin.
I think it’s unfair to say that the split is over LGBT issues. At its core, it is an irreconcilable difference over the supremacy of the Bible. Many of these UMC pastors are denying the authority of scripture, the resurrection, and the very nature of God by calling Him “mother”. The LGBT issue is merely a symptom.
I agree. Along with Biblical authority (for which every church should operate), the intended path of the UMC also undermines the significance of repentance. And after the predicted changes at the recent General Conference, it's pretty clear that not only is repentance now a non-issue for the rainbow crowd, but it's also pretty clear that repentance for any sin outlined in the Bible is no longer regarded as important.
"We are not enemies" - then act like it, bishop.

What this story leaves out is : 1) The primary reason these churches are leaving really isn’t about homosexuality but about their just being tired of years of having to operate in a toxic , dysfunctional authoritarian narcissistic denomination . The “ homosexuality issue” is just the issue that brought it all inevitably to the fore 2) for every church that found the exorbitant amount of money they had to pay to leave and the will and bravery to do it there definitely is 1-2 other churches who either wish they could leave now or will wish they could leave soon.

Can you explain? My little one starts preschool at a Methodist church.
1. Let them disaffiliate, they have a right to. And a right to go and serve a Holy God.
2. These are not "The Church" or churches. These are establishments of congregations.
3. Buildings are not "The Church", the Church are those People who are IN the Body of Christ. We follow the gospel, the teachings of Christ to the T. We don't give or allow one inch of ground to Satan's deceiving, lying, blasphemous trickery. We Saints wear the full armor of God. If my Sunday congregation displays a rainbow banner and provides LGBTQ-IA2S propaganda. I'd flee from there also. And I already have, in fact.

The main problem with the UMC is it’s autocratic narcissistic structure / church polity and it’s inherent centralization of too much power in too few hands . The GMC is going to keep bishops - just not give them the office for life . That will help mitigate the “ lording it over “ situation like it is in the UMC so very very little .

Speaking as a gay person who lives a Christian life, I affirm to the world that being gay is not a choice.
I was born with a gay personality and while I am not happy to be different from the heterosexuals in my family,
there is nothing I can do to change my orientation, no matter what I do.
No, I can live a moral life and still be gay, but the whole purpose of living out my sexuality is to find someone to marry.
Until the Christian world recognizes that gay marriage is a natural alternative to being born gay,
Jesus' message of love and charity will go undiscovered.

God expects Everyone to remain celibate before marriage. Since God does not accept homosexual unions, you must remain celibate your whole life. Is sexual pleasure on earth Really WORTH it?

The pastor loves Jesus first. Besides, the decision to disaffiliate is not made by the pastor, it is made by the congregation and, as I recall, requires a 60% majority vote.
