I'm not Christian but that woman literally said "a church with people of different faith backgrounds". It's a church, that's a place for Christians. If you want to meet with other religions, great but that's not a church. That's a social club.
I think "faith backgrounds" refers to where they have came from rather than what they are now e.g. a Presbyterian who has converted to Methodism or a Muslim who converted to Christianity

If you are a Christian or a Christian Church you cannot accept homosexuality. That is Biblical. You can, and should, accept the sinner as you should all sinners, but not the sin. Acceptance does NOT include performing such rights as marriage to join them together.

It’s debatable, yea they did oppose this wicked movement to integrate SSM into their church, but that’s the least of their problems. It seems that half their clergy (staff in the church) seems to be composed of women, which is not their place according to scripture. And, women pastors. And if that was not enough, council that votes on doctrine. As if the Bible was not sufficient enough to to tell them what doctrine to have, now they have to have a council to decide what to believe. No. The church is also called the bride of Christ. Is your body the bride of Christ? No. A body is purely a meat sack that we wear.

I'm a gay Christian. I'm still attracted to men but attraction alone is not sin. This is called temptation, acting on it either in my mind (as a fantasy) or physically is a sin. Christ forgave our sins and died to save us from their effects. I don't think ignoring that and continuing my lifestyle would honor Christ's death. I don't like to bash atheists because all atheists are different from one another. I was once one. I thought if God was real then he hated me for making me gay and having his servants constantly disparage me. It is very sad, though I can't help thinking they were used by the conservative leadership in the US to shut down the debate. I didn't care for the way the narrator kept saying 'the African delegates, the African delegates,' as though they were an undifferentiated mob. It is likely that the preponderance of their votes went against inclusion, but these delegates too deserved the kind of individual profiles and recognition that the US-based clergy received.
The African delegates were cast as unyielding opponents here, but there's a long story behind the hostility of African churches towards LGBTQI+ people, and it involves bad faith from the US. When populations in sub-Saharan Africa were being decimated by AIDS, not only did the US government condition its financial aid on the purchase of drugs from American Big Pharma, preventing African states from sourcing cheap drugs from elsewhere, but American faith-based charities fanned out across the continent, spreading the message of abstinence, chastity, and hostility towards sex workers and LGBTQI+ people, portrayed as the vectors of HIV-AIDS. Even today, it is the evangelical wing of the church that sends most missionaries to Africa, and the evangelical church is conservative. It incentivises the politics of moral judgement and exclusion. I think of how much worse it must be for sexual minorities in African congregations.

Africa is actually one of the first continents where Christianity grew and spread rapidly, I think mainly due to the Ethiopian eunech. Aside from modern day Turkey, Africa received and embraced Christianity more than any other place in the primitive beginnings of the church.

From my time as a Christian since the early 80s I have seen a frightening path for a complete disregard for HIS Word. What is left if pre-marital sex is now ok, divorce for almost any reason is ok, near pornographic entertainment ok, entertainment where almost every commandment is broken in a 30 minute show is ok and now homosexuality now isn't a sin. This is a spiritual de-evolution. What is sin now? Jesus said if you follow me, the world will hate you. We have taken the teeth out of what sin is what we can identify as sin. We have allowed these sins to fester and remain and called it good which is a sign of God's wrath according to Isaiah.

Is the Bible God's word? The Bible that we in the US read isn't the original Bible as it was written by its Greek authors. Its been translated. And translation is not an easy task. Its not a matter of matching words together like many religious scholars like to pretend it is. You must be able to thoroughly understand not just the literal text, but the person who wrote the words and the two *cultures* you are translating between. The passages that supposedly deal with homosexuality are all fraught with issues. The most glaring issue with the New Testament mentions are particularly curious. The Greeks had a word for homosexual relations. Yet the original authors didn't use that word.
Recommend looking up "StopBibleAbuse", a website that breaks down in incredible detail the full meaning behind each passage dealing with LGBT issues.
