I did an install of both Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 on a Dell Inspiron 3500 C366GT with only 64mb of ram. My hdd is only 4.8gb, so I left the file system as Fat32 just to save some space...and it works. I will eventually upgrade this old retro laptop to 128mb. Thanx for your help in the video.😊
It's a good idea to include what versions of Windows 98SE you are using. If it's the OEM Version, Upgrade, or Retail. The OEM and Upgrade look for another operating system. The retail I believe is the one needed for dual booting.
Great video, thank you. You wouldn't happen to have any tips to get sound working on Windows 98SE using a universal sound driver would you? I have a Dell Latitude D620 which was designed for 2000/xp. I'm dual booting it with 98SE and 2000. 98SE installs, but I can't get sound to work. Any tips/help is appreciated. Thanks
@@NTGTechnology you can do a video about that and put the iso of both working with this procedure in the description? i tried and doest the both os show an error when install(if you can't, it's okay). I swear I'll mark it as I liked with my 3 accounts and subscribe, and be very grateful.
Fdisk has a problem where it will show larger drives has being only 10GB. This is just a visual bug, and you can still partition the drive by typing in the values you want.
You can go into Computer Properties and then there should be some boot settings under Advanced Options or something to that effect. Not sure if messing around in there would fix it or not.
Can I add Windows 98 to a Win2k system? Essentially the other round, or will I run into issues? I have Win2k on NFTS partition plus 2 FAT32 partitions. Win2k clearly comes a with a boot loader. Can this facilitate a dual Win 98 install next to Win2k. Is it safer to use a 3rd party boot loader?
You will probably need to use a 2nd hdd. You can unplug the win 2000 one then install win 98 then plug win 2000 hdd back in. You made need to change the drive letter for win 2000 before hand. It will give you the boot menu or you can just change the boot drive.
Thank you @@Notacka. Sadly I corrupted the Win2k install and had to start again. I pretty much followed your advice with 2 x SSD,’s. Install win98 and then win 2k on SSD#1. Disconnected and installed WinXP on SSD #2. Replaced the Win2k boot loader with WinXP boot loader on SSD#1 and edited for each partition. This works very well with win 98 and WinXP booting as C: and Win2k booting as D:

It works pretty much the same with 98 and xp. Thanks for the help.
True. However, if you have Pentium 3 before Tualatin, than dualboot 98 and 2000.

Thanks man! Making my 3Dfx retro PC with this !

I think I saw someone get 98 fully working on a D600, not sure about the D620 though.
What system are you using?
My main PC:
AMD FX-8320 @ 4 GHZ
MSI Gaming 970 Motherboard
AMD Radeon R7 370 4GB
8GB DDR3 1600 MHZ RAM
120GB Boot SSD
1TB Western Digital Blue HDD
Thanks for the quick guide!
It's the same with 95 and 98?
It would probably work the same, although I haven't tried it.
@@thomaz_premium If it's giving you blue screens there's probably something up with your hardware. Might want to try troubleshooting there.

@@NTGTechnology The problem was in the ISO, I downloaded another one and the 98 worked, now I'm in the saga to solve the 95... Thanks for the answer
My harddrive is a 80gb only letting my max size at 10gb. Does anyone know why?
