"it's not a conversation that can be had in blanket statements." Yes absolutely. Some of my most personal conversations have been with atheist/agnostic friends. Wed spend over an hour trading ideas back and forth on the topic of faith. Some of the best nights I've had.
While I believe it's good to use what venues we have to spread God's love, I also believe those conversations that dig in deep are better in private. It's a good distinction to have

We are Broken too really the whole Riot album is a undercover Christian album I think that positive message in their music was what set them apart from so many other bands from that time. And I've really gained a appreciation for particular the riot album and self titled for the clear religious messages in those. As someone who grew up in church and had my run away from faith moments as a teen. Hearing the Riot album in a new light really changed things for me again and I knew I had to rededicate my life to God. So on some level they're still ministering to people.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
Some people believe a good God could never judge us and punish us for our sin. However, for God to be truly holy, He must be just and righteous. We cannot be reconciled unto Him with the sin of a fallen world that has separated us from Him. I'm not here to condemn anyone. Only God can do that.
The good news is that God loved us. So much so that He became flesh through Christ Jesus and fulfill the laws of a sinless life that we could never fulfill by our own strength. Now we can be reconciled to Him by confessing Christ as our lord and savior and repenting of our sin.
God has a purpose for your life. He is life. He created us, and there is no true fulfillment in this world aside from Him. How could we find true fulfillment in anything other than the one we were created for?
I'm not here to hate on this video. I'm actually a huge Paramore, and Hayley Williams fan. I wish them all the best, and I wish you the best as well.

Amen!! I’ve been battling mental illnesses and addictions my entire life, and I even began practicing new age spirituality and witchcraft last year. I referred to the god I created in my head as “the universe.” Practiced meditation, used tarot cards, astrology, etc. There was so much confusion in the world at the time, I didn’t know what else to turn to other than a higher power of some sort for answers. It took constant effort and motivation to maintain the temporary relief new age practices gave me.
I eventually began questioning my beliefs after watching videos on people’s negative experiences with new age. I didn’t understand why Jesus’ name kept coming up in these videos. I never had a Christian upbringing, didn’t know a thing about the Bible or Jesus, in fact I used to believe Christians were just brainwashed. But the testimony videos I was watching touched me, and I began reading the Bible out of curiosity.
I didn’t understand why I believed it or why I was so moved by what I was reading. I needed more than just blind faith so I did a ton of research and was overwhelmed by the evidence of Christ’s existence, death and resurrection, and the divinity of the Bible. I realized that God began working in my heart even before I had evidence for my faith. Shortly after, I completely surrendered to him, asked for his mercy, and asked him to be the Lord of my life.
It‘s almost like I was trapped in a cave for my entire life and finally experienced sunlight for the first time. I felt like I was home. All the help and relief I was searching for was just a call away all along. I’m forever grateful :) I pray more people come to know the love and truth of Jesus Christ. God bless you!!

I grew up in a calvinist church, republican voting parents, but about when I was 23-24 I started drifting further away both from that religion and those politics, just from the different kinds of people I met and how brazenly the religious people around me were lying about them because they were too close-minded to actually LISTEN. Just felt like there was a lot of fear and hatred, or at the very least wishful thinking, and I couldn't honestly be religious with where I am at this moment. You could say I'm an atheist, but only by its literal dictionary definition rather than as an identity. I honestly don't care for the folks who toot their own horns on how logical and full of reason they believe they are, and I want to stay away from that scene too.

I’m truly sorry that you had that experience, but hear me out please. It’s best not to judge the teachings of Christianity based on a select group of people who adhere to it. A lot of Christianity has been bastardized simply because the state adopted it and used it for political means centuries ago.
The way that many old school Republican evangelists act is not an appropriate Representation of how Christians Are supposed to act.
True Christianity is about not Being attached to the world, to possessions, money, anger, hatred, judgment, or greed. It’s about treating each other equally, giving the clothes off our backs to those in need, loving, forgiving, and never judging; Knowing that none of us are perfect, but what matters most is that we try every day to become perfect despite the fact that it’s an impossible task.
I wish people could really just look at the teachings of Christianity and understand how great it is, not the version that has been completely corrupted and used as a political tool.
Regardless, I’m sorry that was your experience, but judging Christianity based on these Followers would be like judging the quality of the movie fight club based on the frat boy fanbase. Or judging the “my hero academia” anime based on its fan base
The material itself is great, but a lot of the fandom has damaged its reputation.

So I took it upon myself to do my own study and not look at those that are misrepresenting Christianity.

It’s always been interesting for me to hear whenever someone talks about their faith, they always talk about where they grew up and what their family believed growing up and what denomination their church was but they never actually get around to what their own faith actually is. Don’t ever let someone or something else define what you believe apart from God Himself if you’re a person of faith in God. You’re either a follower of Christ or a follower of someone or something else. Both the world and Jesus say “follow me” so make sure you know whose voice you’re listening too and because there is an enemy (The Devil) who roams around earth like a roaring Lion seeking someone to devour and he disguises himself as an angel of light. Don’t take my word for it, read it from God’s Word. I have no idea what Hayley’s faith is, apparently it’s telling people not to let their upbringing dictate how they vote. I agree with that actually but please don’t also let a celebrity like her dictate how you vote either. If you’re someone who believes in God, you may want to read what He has to say about certain topics and principles because obviously if your identity is in that faith, you’d want to be obedient to the God you say you follow. If not and you’re not a person of faith, do whatever you want to do but know you’re either following Christ or following someone or something else and anything apart from Christ is His enemy. Just my two cents.

There is a contradiction in her statements. She contends that voting shouldn't be constrained by the Bible (which is an example of moral authority) yet also wants to cancel "racists" which is another competing moral authority. While all the while claiming to vote what you believe in. But that in turn is relativism. If there isn't some authority along the way, her preference is no better than anyone else's. If this is true, then there is no sense in speaking about Christians not being bounded by their moral authority.

    • @cheerfulturtlegirl
      @cheerfulturtlegirl 8 месяцев назад +1

I agree. All the -isms (communism, socialism, fascism, humanism) compete against the simple Biblical Gospel. It is ultimately a spiritual war between man's rule or God's rule. Politics can become a religion for people, especially those who are atheistic/agnostic/non-religious because it fills that void, that need for a moral and meaningful worldview.
As a former agnostic who has come to faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible, I can honestly say that Jesus is so much better. I was miserable, empty, and dead inside when I tried to justify my sins and idols. The real love my soul longed for can only be found in Jesus. Real love is more than just lust and materialism. It is sacrificial, selfless, pure, and unfailing. The love of Jesus is more powerful and amazing than the selfish love of this world. The Greeks called it "agape."
Jesus has the power to give us peace in our souls that the world cannot offer. We simply have to be willing to let the Gospel humble our pride and lead us to surrender our lives to Christ. He is worth it. He is worth letting go of every idol.
The Biblical uncompromised Gospel is the one that can save souls and lives. If we truly want to be loving, we will seek God's will even when it conflicts with the world's orthodoxy.

I don’t know if Haley will ever read any of these, let alone mine, but I wanted to share it anyway. I listened to Paramore and still do sometimes back in the early 2000s. I had a crush on you Haley (I think all of us scene dudes did). But I admired that you were a Christian, and it inspired me to be such as well.
But something happened. We grew up. I struggled with depression, much like you Haley. And like you Haley, I did have a moment in time where I began to ask serious questions about my faith. Where I would humbly ask you to consider the difference between someone like you and me is I understood the need to be close to the body of Christ. I have been blessed to be part of a church that really loves me, cares for me, preaches the word, verse by verse every Sunday, and isn’t afraid to tell us what God’s word says, because he is unchanging, and his word is unchanging, while humanity teeters constantly. I don’t think you had that support system. How could you if you’re constantly in the road? An occasional devotional in a small group on tour is not sufficient to sustain and grow your faith. If you keep the company of unbelievers, they will overcome you. Jesus says in John 15:5 “If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit, and apart from me you can do nothing.”
To abide in Christ is to be the tree that is on the river. Those trees are huge, with solid trunks that are very strong. To be constantly isolated from Christ and his body (the church), is to be a sheep that wanders alone, and those are always easy prey to the wolves.
But I didn’t just remain with a faithful body of believers. With my questions, I discovered the history of the church. This has certainly not turned me Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox (though I admire those traditions to some degree), but it has helped me really connect with the historic faith throughout all time.
I watched one of your old videos of your testimony while wearing a yellow “Security” shirt and I was honestly heartbroken. I never heard Christ and his love for sinners spoken of. It was simply your personal views and no harm no foul to anyone else. I’m sorry, but that is not how the apostles or prophets spoke. They spoke with a level of authority to the world, that it was under judgment by a holy and righteous God against sinners, and that in the love and mercy of Christ’s atoning work, we can have peace with him through faith in that work. Did you really, in all those years really believe that message? How often did you open your Bible and pray? How often were you attending church?
One last thing. I grew up in the Bible Belt like you. I was raised in a typical, conservative evangelical home. It was just how it was. Was never taught why I believed what I believed. So many people were raised like this, and when you give the youth traditions for the sake of traditions, they will eventually despise those traditions and want to rebel against them. This is why so many in the scene and punk world have religious backgrounds. They were raised in legalistic, Republican conservatism masquerading as true, historic, Christian tradition. Having learned what true Christianity is apart from republicanism, I have learned to distinguish between the two and seen the hypocrisy of republicanism. This doesn’t mean I am not a conservative; I do vote Republican more often, but it’s because of my faith. I am my own man, and think and vote purely on biblical terms.
I would encourage you Haley to consider that you grew up in a tradition that never cared for your soul, masqueraded as Christian, but gave you no roots, taught you nothing on the historic faith; you went to youth groups that gave you milk, never meat, gave you feel good vibes and showed you being a Christian in youth was cool, never taught you the cost of the Christian life, a life of suffering and self sacrifice, of repentance, of trust in the Christ who has paid the price for our sins and reconciliation with God, how to lean on and trust him in that, to meditate on those glorious promises of redemption, you were never given any of that, and you, a poor babe were sent out into a dark world utterly defenseless because certain baptist churches didn’t care about your soul, and only wanted your baptism to show they were a good church. I am so sorry that happened to you, as I am for so many who have the same kind of story. I pray you encounter the true Jesus for the first time, and behold his magnificent glory and mercy. God bless.

As a Christian Conservative, I totally get it. I grew up in church that has very strict rules that my family didn't exactly follow. I was basically told I was sinning because I listened to pop and rock music. Not hard rock or adult themed stuff.
My family told me the reason they said those things, was because they wanted control over the congregation. And that it wasn't really what God said, it's what man said.
The final straw was pulled when people got upset at my mother for wearing pants to church because of her skin condition, and the fact that she cut her hair short because of psoriasis on her scalp.
We basically stopped showing up to it, and occasionally had church at home with video lessons. Other churches didn't believe in what we believe.
One God or three, or three stations you need to call upon? Is the Holy Spirit and speaking tongues being real or demon possession? Can you speak directly to Jesus or need to call upon mother Mary because we are not worthy despite his sacrifice claiming we are?
There are so many different types of Christianity, it's hard to find what fits for you when you live in an area that doesn't have an established church that fits your needs.

I left bc they made Christianity so complicated, it was so hard for me to fit in, i felt like a blacksheep lol. but I still believe in Jesus. I just don't go to church.

Roman Catholic here 👋 Just want to clarify our perspective as best I can: We Catholics believe in God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity: Three people, and those three people are the *one* God. (I understand that may be a little confusing...) So yes, you can speak/pray directly to Jesus because he is literally God! God always listens.
But when it comes to saints and the queen of saints/mother of Jesus, Mary, we do NOT pray to them or treat them as gods. What we actually do is ask for their intercession. What does this mean? Well it means that these souls, who are now in eternal life with God, have the ability to pray for us right there next to God in Heaven! Mary is an even more beautiful/special case, because what son doesn't listen to the pleas of his mother? That is, would Jesus deny what his mother asks of Him? (We don't know the exact answer, but I definitely don't have the persuasive power that the literal mother of God has...)
That is all for now, if you have any questions about this subject just let me know! Apologies for any typos, and thanks for reading!

I get the point people make in these comments about pro life and racism are separate and get why if u can't say, put someone in jail for a racist action towards another human being = you might not be ProLife (in favor or people living in earth). At the same time eventhough I can agree with some experiences Hayley have had in church, out of church and with "partners" & must say that I am convinced her music has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. I want to clarify Jehova / Jesus from Nazareth because lately I've come to the deep discovery (I knew it before but now it makes greater sense) that people use the word God to disguise their own god into the conversation and mislead others into believing they are making a connection with the same being which is not true at all. We got to remember that Satan learned from the best in a sense and that every christian/ religious group or cult do pray quite the same. They're invocation rituals are similar and each hold amulets, brainwash with the same techniques and such forth. In conclusion, I can love Hayley to pieces as a person and her music inspires me / gets me thru my roughest days eventhough wecan disagree on stuff.

Jesus Christ makes it clear, there is ONLY one way. "Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:5-6. To call it personal goes against the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 contains what has come to be called the Great Commission: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Jesus gave this command to the apostles shortly before He ascended into heaven, and it essentially outlines what Jesus expected the apostles and those who followed them to do in His absence. This is not a personal thing, this is a very public and outward thing. 'If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.” - Mark 8:38.

Hayley, one of the problems is that the terms racism and racist are thrown around recklessly and for political gain. For example, I don't believe in allowing people access to our country and resources unless they come legally. I also don't believe attaining citizenship should be easy. And I don't buy into multiculturalism. Diversity is great as long as people are unified in certain values and norms. But a mere credo won't hold a nation together in the long run. Finally, I see the danger in the brain drain occurring in poor nations as the most resourceful abandon their homes to come to the West. I could yammer on, but my point is, many consider my views racist. If our Country is systemically racist, why are the wealthiest groups not White? (They are Asian). If we are not a superior country with a superior culture, why are we - hands down....not even close - the preferred destination for people from all over the world? Why would they flock to a "systemically racist" nation? Maybe I just don't like somebody. Maybe I don't like their values or behavior. Maybe I think their culture is crappy. So many Americans....and "celebrities"....are constantly pointing out how shitty we are. Is it maybe possible other countries, cultures and groups are more flawed than us? Our Christian, Western culture with all of its flaws,, contradictions, and sins has provided more freedom and prosperity for more people than any country in history. I love your music, by the way.

There are too many people (mostly young people), fake politicians, etc. that make up their own definitions for words such as the word "racist" and throw the word around so frequently at things and people that don't fit the actual definition to the point that the word "racist" or even "nazi" doesn't even have any impact or weight to it anymore. So when you say something such "racist actions", what specifically are you referring too? Real question, what the hell even is a "racist lifestyle"? Sounds just as ambiguous and strange as when I used to hear religious conservatives use the term "gay lifestyle" or " gay agenda". Also don't know why you feel the need to throw men in there when the topic does not pertain to gender whatsoever. Is this a men's issue? Are the rules different for pro life women who, in your words, "can't condemn racist actions/beliefs/lifestyles"? Actually not hard to suspect why you would say something like that and take jabs at "men" when it's completely unnecessary. The amount of time you spend around woke people and feminism books is very apparent in all honesty.

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’
"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."
    Luke 15:1‭-‬7 ❤✝️

I think if you hold certain views or values that come into conflict with your faith, it’s a good idea to reconsider either your faith or your views. But both can’t be true at the same time. We’re called to chose. The “spiritual but not religious” choice is dishonest and doesn’t make any sense.

God exists but you have to discover that. Carl Jung said it. God is like an inner principle or a mechanism. God is what's behind out shadow aspect. I think it's wrong to discourage people from faith as well. How will you find meaning in everyday things, let alone something more abstract or when life hits you? Faith is authentic. Religion is a study.

People lump believing in God and being religious into the same category too often. Religious people often act out according to their ego and not according to the will of God. And many religions have guidelines thay are unnatural and continually make people feel like they are failing at something when they are not.
On the other hand, science proves more that there is a source to this reality than it proves that it's all a random accident. It's not possible for DNA codes to know what attributes to produce without there being a prewritten language. It's not possible for celestial bodies to behave according laws and order without a law-maker. We have free will to not choose God, and that's perhaps all part of the plan to evolve consciousness through choice, and separate and purify source energy. Matter in our reality does not take shape without vibrational frequencies resulting from conscious intention causing energetic particles (that never die) to react against the framework of time and space and assemble into form, plus conscious definition and observation in comparison to the definition. Therefor to say that there is not a source of consciousness behind our reality is plain stupid. It is also not possible for one reality to result from more than one source. That would be like watching two films from two projectors simultaneously - they would overlap. There is ONE ultimate source. And you can connect with the source WITHOUT religion.. And you SHOULD if you ever want to fulfill your true purpose here and then eventually return to it. Being Athiest is NOT respectable. All it does is trap you in the hamster wheel of time and causes you to worship the products of time, which are only temporary.. And it prevents you from ever connecting with the source and realizing your part in the great scheme. Don't base your beliefs on People. "oh religious people suck, so I hate God..."
