Draglines aren’t idea for tree removal but you use the machine you have on site. I ditched for a muck farmer 45 years ago with a Link-Belt dragline and took out trees. 30 or so years ago the ditches were dammed and land was put back into wetlands with 2 foot diameter trees growing in ditches, how time flies. I enjoy seeing draglines still being productive.
Thanks for showing what these machines are capable of. I'd love to see how you managed with getting the stump out of the ground. What's the break out force like? I assume you'd have to do a fair bit of digging around the root ball first? Like I said on your other recent video, they've started work on mine, so hopefully will have it done in a couple of months. Cheers Adrian
I'm fixing up an American 4250. Has a 11/4 yd Page drag bucket with a 1943 patent date. Has a 4 cylinder Cummins instead of the Detroit. If i can run it half as good as Cotter I'll be alright!
@@miketheminer4351 I have a 1950's Ruston Bucyrus 22RB Dragline with a Ruston Hornsby 6YDA MK2 Air Cooled Engine built in India. I have the same hopes, but I won't be giving up my day job as a Train Driver til I get a few hours in the seat and people actually come knocking on my door to do their dams.

If I didn't see this video, I would never think this could be done. Thanks for the video!
"Run what you brung." Fun to watch. Never seen a dragline being used to fell a tree, but it worked.
Great job bringing down that tree! Really like all your videos.

Tree was in some muck so it didn't come out hard, just had to pull a little bit at a time to keep the tree from falling on me or falling into the pond
I really enjoy watching draglines work but this does not seem to be the right machine for this job. JMO. Interesting to watch though.
Yeah but sometimes you have to work with what you have. This was not a planned event, last minute can you take it out from the customer.
