They pledge allegiance to one nation UNDER GOD too...and he sang about the Bible..papa..daddy and grandma.. family..honor..hard work and God..all things the leftists hate..these guys are awesome
@@mickthealcoholicbear8311 They actually don't pledge their allegiance under God, according to the lyrics... The "original" Pledge of Allegiance did not include the phrase "under God." That was added in 1954...mostly due to political preaching from a foreign evangelist (Rev. George Docherty) who had never even heard it before his son told him about it. The ORIGINAL Pledge of Allegiance was: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." "my Flag" was changed to "the Flag of the United States of America" in 1923. So, to pledge your allegiance the ORIGINAL way, in the United States, means to leave religion out of it. You can be loyal to a country without believing in any specific deity or religion.
I'm not from the South, I've lived in the woods of PA my whole life except for a couple of vacations that Uncle Sam paid for to Afghanistan, but the opening of this song just brought tears to my eyes. I recently lost my dad and two days ago just brought all of his and my grandpap's guns back home to my house
Sorry for your loss. Im from estonia, from countryside, raising bulls n shit. I like to think that i’m one of a kind in here - estonia… Found whiskey myers from joe rogan podcast, and cant be happier. Listened to them ever since 😂
House looks like a conglomeration of my paternal Grandparents and paternal great Aunt and Uncle. Would that I could sit in one of those houses again and hear their sweet voices again. Cherish your beloved elders. They are gone too soon.
For some reason this reminded me of my grandpa. He passed away when i was about 15, and im 37 now. I remember he always just so happened to be shooting targets when we got off the school bus (we had to walk up a pretty long dirt road to get home). Later on, my grandma told me and my brother that he would sit out on the porch waiting to hear the bus, and he would go out there and start shooting when he heard it stop at our road, just so me and my brother would walk over there and spend time with him. And we would always go down there and mow their grass and rake their leaves, the he would tell us to hang on while he went inside to get some money for us from my grandma. We would always wait until he went inside then we would run home because we didnt want to take their money. Man i miss those days....
I remember watching these guys at the hunt county fair in front of crowds of like 30-100 people out in Greenville, Texas in East Texas only a few hours away from Palestine. They have always been down to earth southern country boys. I remember them throwing guitar picks out to the crowd. I miss it. I’m very happy that these guys caught a break, they’re really good and DESERVE this. I can’t wait to buy VIP tickets one day to meet them in person again for a few minutes and congratulate them. Might see if I could get them to sign a T Shirt this time so I can frame it. Or sign my guitar. Great job y’all! And please, show everyone what every song needs, More cowbell!
A friend of mine turned me on to these guys and it's amazing they brought real music back and made an old man like me think about the older southern rock bands I was listening to 40 years ago
From Wisconsin, this song speaks to everyone who grew up holding their values close, knowing the man up above has a plan for everything, and knowing what it's like to work your hands until they're covered in blood.

As a Latina woman from the heart of Chicago listening to this in 2022, and listening to the lyrics " I guess there's something you don't understand", that means something different to everyone who hears it. I was also raised in this land and lets all do the best we can to be the best human to our fellow Americans, and, our fellow humans. Empathy goes a long way. Even when we don't agree, don't mean we're enemies.
Fantastic comment Nathalie. I had this saved to a playlist from a long time ago, back from when I still voted Republican. I am amazed at how tone deaf the lyrics are.
So when they raise the Southern flag....you realize...you aren't white. As a "latina" in their world you are enslaved. But I guess we all just do not understand how you are okay with being enslaved????? Well I guess if you wanna be a slave I can't stop you.
@@llxlxllxlxll your opinion is valid. Though, I don't have to be from the south to empathize and relate with this song. I grew up hunting and fishing because my father, who's not from this country, taught me that our food comes from somewhere other than the grocery store. He raised a woman that can shoot and hunt if she needed to. More importantly, he taught me to respect others, even if their opinion differs from mine. He worked hard for what he has, just like the lyrics in the song. It ain't that hard to relate to people....if you actually tried.
This song means a lot to me. My papa dad and me were really close and this was a song we listened to a lot. My papa died, and this song will never leave my heart
this song is the definition of why the new generations don't have character, and by that, I mean heart. if you can't resonate with songs like this, then you didn't have a good start in life.
This is an incredible song and couldn't be anymore true. People criticize this country for the way it is, but unless you grow up here then you just can't truly understand how this country is.
+_The_Bread_Man_ I'm from Brazil man and I have major respect for the southern american way of life, stay true to your roots we gonna win this storm of liberal craap!
Those who criticize do it from afar. They have no idea what it's like to be so proud of something it humbles you. I grew up in Eastern Kentucky. It's the most beautiful place in the world
Check out Chris Stapleton if you haven't already. Russia, i think outside Australia and the U.S. the craziest, fight for what you want and believe in, in the world.
@Whiskey Meyers, hey brothers this is wolf I met you and sat (instead of playing)an audition at the county line 2012 you told me good bye never felt so right in the parking lot . Well sad I let you down . Never got a chance to say it ,wished I'd a just picked up that guitar and went with it
As a West Virginian we do often get considered southern but i can close my eyes and see my family thru your lyrics and those that are also able to do that than id say your a southern man regarless where your from
I love this fucking song. It always reminds me how blessed I am to live here and know what true freedom feels like. This is America and we need to continue to stand up for what we believe in.
Growing up in East Tennessee not far from the Kentucky border. This song rings so true! Moved to Texas in 2002 I’ve seen these wildcats in concert they are the real deal. They are the modern day Skynyrd 💯 Thank God for guys like these that still sing about true shit!
@@hitman__3926 yes sir! We used to go deer hunting right up from in Joppa was some pretty good hunts we had there the past years we hunted there we saw it was getting a little slim so time to reproduce so we took and went to west Tennessee around Hickman county. Some of the best hunting I ever did do in Tennessee. Hope you and your family are doing well brother. Gonna try to come back home to Maynardville just out side of Knoxville to the north. But I miss my mountains from Time to time but I moved here in Texas back in 2002 and been here since I love it here in Fort Worth. But when I was a young man I delivered produce to all the grocery stores starting in Harlan ky and on over to Hazard got pretty all of them in that area.
Bein from the south, I feel everything in this song. It is an anthem for us. Stars and bars forever. Do the work, get the pay. Ask for nothing. Eat what you hunt, eat what you fish. Nuthin more, nuthin less.
I typically don't comment on any platform but @Whiskeymyers deserves WAY more recognition here. Well written and well played. Captures the southern spirit and culture. I particular love how you sewed together our American values that resonates with all of from from North to South, East and West. While it does speak to a Southern way of life, this resonates with so many of us as painting a picture of a country built on solid values. Values we are unwilling to waver on. Our founding values and principles of God, family and country. A country where we are to put God and TRUTH before all else. A country where we teach the next one in line to work hard, give back, honor and protect this land at all cost, thank our soldiers for their sacrifice and while family can be challenging-love them just the same...and for those of you just tuning into these guys...Listen to Broken Window Serenade. Once again, they've captured the struggle and the sadness and wrapped it in a bow. For this CT Yankee, I'm still listening and following. Hope to see y'all in person some day. I pray for continued success!
I'm honored by this song coming from a family of veterans in every generation dating back to the Civil War. This is the way I was raised and if you don't understand that..., Oh well.
This song hits hard my grandpa taught me how to shoot when I was 7 with a 243 and nothing has made me feel more free then some of the lessons he taught me
My first rifle was a .243 Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me And they taught me how to shoot with a steady hand I guess that's somethin' you don't understand Now, I grew up on a prison farm Sneaking pulls of shine from a mason jar Used to go fishing out Pickle Creek dam But I guess that's somethin' you don't understand Grandma's in the kitchen Papa's done past on We sit out on the front porch Just a pickin' on the songs And there's blood on the table 'Cause we work for what we have And I was raised in this land I guess that's somethin' you don't understand And I still fly that southern flag Whistling Dixieland enough to brag And I know all the words to simple man I guess that's somethin' you don't understand Pledge my allegiance the original way Say, Merry Christmas not happy holidays I can't change my ways, I know who I am I guess that's somethin' you don't understand Grandma's in the kitchen Papa's done past on We sit out on the front porch Just a pickin' on the songs There's blood on the table 'Cause we work for what we have I was raised in this land I guess that's somethin' you don't understand A pile of soap and a big machine I'll feed us all on the same beliefs Holy dollar and a credit card But we got a way of doin' things And no bankers gonna steal from me They wanna tear it all apart Grandma's in the kitchen Papa's done past on We sit out on the front porch Just a pickin' on the songs And there's a bible on the table 'Cause he bleed for what we have And that's the ballad of a southern man I guess that's somethin' you don't understand My first rifle was a .243 Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me
Being from Hazard Kentucky this song really hits home; being from the south is a lifestyle and and amazing one at that. Small town life with great people, have a blessed day everyone and enjoy this amazing story of a song
Wasn’t far from ya brother I lived in Tazwell and my sister moved to pinevillle Ky. A lot of good people from where we are from! You learn real quick to mind your own business and just move a long 😂 That’s what I would tell the outsiders coming to visit.
@@CrystalSmith-qo5pj it truly does, I had to move from Hazard Kentucky to Columbus Ohio for work and I miss it every day, this song helps take me back and relive my days back Home. I spend 30 years in that small town and I’m 34 now.
Love this song but not the title. I'm from Northern California and I can relate to every part of this song. It's like southern people think their lifestyle is so much different than everyone else. Whether you're from the south, Midwest, southwest, west coast or east coast there's rural areas where we all live like this.
I've lived all over this United States and the South is different and before you ask ive lived in California Washington Missouri Arkansas Florida Virginia and been everywhere inbetween. Us Southerns hang on to our traditions and culture where most places you bring up something over a month ago people forget. We dont. We remember and we will never forget our home our Southland and our heritage. Its our birthright. Its who we are from Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson, to the hills we grew up in to the Stories we lived in there. It's sacred to us and Dixie is tattooed on our hearts. Not everyone understands that. If you do your uncommon in todays world and hats off to you.

Man this song almost to the letter of my young childhood. As a matter of fact I am having it played at my funeral. That is one thing I would like people to remember me by.
This band is a refreshing breakthrough on so many levels. A southern rock spirit that can not be passed off as revivalist of a genre, but rather a more intimate and current state of southern influences, ie: Wal mart, Dollar General, Baptism, Mud Bogging , Bar Hopping, and Friday Night Football, etc., The Irony of it is for so many decades the dominant market radio stations of these regions locked out all original and local bands to guarantee a solid commercial market through the advertising sales of a Classic Rock format. So now when a fresh and truly original southern rock band tries to get recognised for thier natural talents, playing at the local live band venue will get them little more than a few CD sales, and great memories, and a good time for those who don't get too drunk to remember it. These guy's Rock!!! Call your local Radio station and demand they play it.# I Want My Whiskey Myers!
Unfortunately your local radio station unless you are very lucky to have one that does in house programming only plays whatever is sent to us by "the network" the networks only play what Nashville says to. In a lot of cases the station is gone now and its just a rack of equipment at a transmitter tower in a cow pasture. Is what I do for a living.
My first rifle was a Winchester model 70 featherweight in .243, my grandpa “papa” bought it in 1962 and passed it down from my uncle to my dad to my brother to me. Papa just passed away recently, this song hits differently now.
My 1st rifle was actually a 243 my dad gave to me when I was 13 this song really hits home awesome song. And he did teach me to shoot with a steady hand and I guess that is something some folks wouldn't understand, Its like Hank said, " we say Grace and we say Mam and if you ain't in to that we don't give a damn."
we always visited family in georgia Alabama and tennessee. i was raised in michigan but was raised by southerners. so i got love for the south and their ways .
I miss my Pawpaw so dang much, everytime I go to Mawmaw's house I end up going to that bedroom and it brings tears to my eyes even to this day goin on 10 years almost. I thank God I was born in Central Texas. TURN TO JESUS AND REPENT FOR HE IS VERY NEAR!!!
I love living in Dixie land! Keep my door open living alone in case I don’t hear a knock, getting up in years. Sure wouldn’t want anyone stuck out in the cold or needing food. Son and grandson live next door and another good family on the other side, so I’m safe. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear anyway. Of course I lock the door at night to protect anyone who might try to break in, as local homes do get robbed in this area sometimes. Don’t want anyone to get shot and locals I love have keys. I’ve just become aged and small, so hope they keep choosing wisely LoL. GBU ~
Such a blessing to hear such truthful words from this young man! America will rise from this current darkness because we have young people who 'get it!'
I really love this song. Stumbled upon it while cruising You Tube and I am totally blown away by it. I am not from the South, I am not even an American. Being from The Netherlands I still relate to this song. I think because of what they sing about are such universal feelings. We have our traditions and roots too. I think every human being with an open mind and a love for music understands what this is about. Love for your family, for your traditions, for the memories you have from growing up. My grandma made pancakes too on Sundays, our Christmases where also filled with joy and laughter and we too sat on our porch and looked at the clouds finding ships and faces in them and were just plain happy growing up in peace and love. We also learned to respect all the people of this planet en were taught we are all brothers and sisters under the skin. 💕
when I was in the Air Force I always said "sir" to the first Sergent ,he said Airman you don't say "sir" to NCOs .I said it wasn't about rank it was about respect. He said all you southerners was like that

My dad played this song all the time when I was younger while we sat around our fire pit, this song reminds me of the smell of beer, fire on wood, and a lot of good memories with him and my friends I am a Texan right now I’m not there but Texas will always have my heart, amen
Say Merry Christmas not happy holidays . That's the verse that got me. Amen to these boys !

They pledge allegiance to one nation UNDER GOD too...and he sang about the Bible..papa..daddy and grandma.. family..honor..hard work and God..all things the leftists hate..these guys are awesome
@@mickthealcoholicbear8311 Amen to that
@@mickthealcoholicbear8311 They actually don't pledge their allegiance under God, according to the lyrics...
The "original" Pledge of Allegiance did not include the phrase "under God." That was added in 1954...mostly due to political preaching from a foreign evangelist (Rev. George Docherty) who had never even heard it before his son told him about it.
The ORIGINAL Pledge of Allegiance was: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
"my Flag" was changed to "the Flag of the United States of America" in 1923.
So, to pledge your allegiance the ORIGINAL way, in the United States, means to leave religion out of it. You can be loyal to a country without believing in any specific deity or religion.
Lol leave it to a conservative to live on their knees to some random arab @@mickthealcoholicbear8311

I’m sorry for your loss… But thankful for your service Sir…

Love this song! I'm from the north but love the south lifestyle and music. Love this song!!
Some people say that old country is gone; but with this band I have hope for the future.
House looks like a conglomeration of my paternal Grandparents and paternal great Aunt and Uncle. Would that I could sit in one of those houses again and hear their sweet voices again. Cherish your beloved elders. They are gone too soon.
Same, man. Brings back memories. My older cousin looked exactly like the lead singer before he went to Afghanistan. He was gone too soon
And please, show everyone what every song needs,
More cowbell!
A friend of mine turned me on to these guys and it's amazing they brought real music back and made an old man like me think about the older southern rock bands I was listening to 40 years ago
Hahaha but you are not😁
You're not worth the effort
Perfectly stated. Totally agree.

In Hispanic and i love this song. Good music is good music.
I am from East Tennessee like my father and Grandfather I am a Marine combat veteran and I will be in church tomorrow. Think this song speaks to me?
From Wisconsin, this song speaks to everyone who grew up holding their values close, knowing the man up above has a plan for everything, and knowing what it's like to work your hands until they're covered in blood.

Every year brother
Oh, this stays on the list my guy
A couple weeks ago, I started to learn this with my acoustic. Great song!
San Diego Latino here! Pops old school Texan.
Fuckin aye bro...campfire, beer and friends. 1:59a.m. in S. East Texas. Perfect
Your not from the south nor were you raised in a southern household, so I would say that you don’t understand anything about this song.
Fantastic comment Nathalie. I had this saved to a playlist from a long time ago, back from when I still voted Republican. I am amazed at how tone deaf the lyrics are.
You wont understand your not from our land
You gotta love these ariganal singer songwriter
Thank you Lord for putting me in the South. Alabama strong.
Yeee....fkng..yeee
This song means a lot to me. My papa dad and me were really close and this was a song we listened to a lot. My papa died, and this song will never leave my heart
Sorry to hear that buddy.
God Bless rural America. The last bastion in a dying world
this song is the definition of why the new generations don't have character, and by that, I mean heart. if you can't resonate with songs like this, then you didn't have a good start in life.
When this man sings, all I hear is Ronnie Van Zant! Great band, Great Voice
Chris Cook he never served either, that's why his username is FUTURE jarhead
Those who criticize do it from afar. They have no idea what it's like to be so proud of something it humbles you. I grew up in Eastern Kentucky. It's the most beautiful place in the world
Merry Christmas!!!
I hear him turn it up just a notch when he sings, “brass through crooked teeth.”

Bein from the south, I feel everything in this song. It is an anthem for us. Stars and bars forever. Do the work, get the pay. Ask for nothing. Eat what you hunt, eat what you fish. Nuthin more, nuthin less.

Luv this southern Ballard. Still jamming this tune. Ga. Rebel. 4 life.

I'm an indiana farm boy, and this song definitely applies to even some of us yanks. Whiskey Myers is a GREAT band, I'd love to see em in concert.
You'll have your chance because it looks like they'll be in Fort Wayne real soon.
I wouldn't call yall yanks
This song hits hard my grandpa taught me how to shoot when I was 7 with a 243 and nothing has made me feel more free then some of the lessons he taught me
Mighty fine - a Northern boy who respects the south and the Southern Man. And yes I stand for the Flag and kneel for the fallen.
My first rifle was a .243
Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me
And they taught me how to shoot with a steady hand
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
Now, I grew up on a prison farm
Sneaking pulls of shine from a mason jar
Used to go fishing out Pickle Creek dam
But I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
Grandma's in the kitchen
Papa's done past on
We sit out on the front porch
Just a pickin' on the songs
And there's blood on the table
'Cause we work for what we have
And I was raised in this land
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
And I still fly that southern flag
Whistling Dixieland enough to brag
And I know all the words to simple man
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
Pledge my allegiance the original way
Say, Merry Christmas not happy holidays
I can't change my ways, I know who I am
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
Grandma's in the kitchen
Papa's done past on
We sit out on the front porch
Just a pickin' on the songs
There's blood on the table
'Cause we work for what we have
I was raised in this land
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
A pile of soap and a big machine
I'll feed us all on the same beliefs
Holy dollar and a credit card
But we got a way of doin' things
And no bankers gonna steal from me
They wanna tear it all apart
Grandma's in the kitchen
Papa's done past on
We sit out on the front porch
Just a pickin' on the songs
And there's a bible on the table
'Cause he bleed for what we have
And that's the ballad of a southern man
I guess that's somethin' you don't understand
My first rifle was a .243
Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me

I'm from Northern California as well.. i can relate to this like no other. I live in the south now though.. thank god!
I'm french and this song makes me miss the South soo bad. hopefully I'll be back there soon. Y'all have a good day !
If you love tradition, Christian faith, the importance of family, and liberty, the South is the place for you.

I’m French living in the states fell in love with country music so I totally feel you!
By using that greeting you are always welcome down here.
Man this song almost to the letter of my young childhood. As a matter of fact I am having it played at my funeral. That is one thing I would like people to remember me by.
Having played at my funeral as well!
Current events make me love this song even more...which I didn't think was possible.
I just discovered Whiskey Myers today....INSTANT connection! Love his music! Keep up the storytelling!!!!!
My first rifle was a Winchester model 70 featherweight in .243, my grandpa “papa” bought it in 1962 and passed it down from my uncle to my dad to my brother to me. Papa just passed away recently, this song hits differently now.
One of the best southern songs. You guys rock
My Papa Died. Me and my dad listen to this song all the time to remember him
My 1st rifle was actually a 243 my dad gave to me when I was 13 this song really hits home awesome song. And he did teach me to shoot with a steady hand and I guess that is something some folks wouldn't understand, Its like Hank said, " we say Grace and we say Mam and if you ain't in to that we don't give a damn."
It is actually "we say grace and we say Ma'am and if you ain't into that then we don't give a damn.", but the concept is the same.
Why am i just now hearing about whiskey myers? 😮love his style. Broken window serenade by far the best song of this decade

Absolutely love this band, I'm from the UK. Don't think they have toured here, hopefully one day.
This song still on point. Love all the comments! God Bless Dixie! Love it or leave it.
Hello Cindy 👋 how are you ??
God bless the south. Don’t lose it. Ever.
