Problems With My Mini R56 JCW

- Over the last couple of months, Calum's Mini R56 JCW has developed a bit of smoke - which can be a bit notorious with the N14 Engine!

ok, interesting to see & hear "however!" why was the cylinder head removed???? as the stem seals are located under the cams at the top of the engine, all your required to remove is the rocker cover, timing chain, cams, springs etc its not a engine rebuild/skimming necessary job it literally takes 2-3hrs to complete
also the N14 & N18 are pretty much the same theirs only slight changed between the 2.
Also its common for the valve cover PCV recirculation valve to fail/get stuck & that produced a cloud smoke of burn oil, you also get a oil smell within the car
I'd also recommend you check the intake valves for carbon build-up & to install a oil catch can
Hey, thanks for the comment and watching. For the stem seals, you’re totally right that the cylinder head didn’t need to be removed.
The dealership were kind enough to replace the head gasket whilst they had a lot of it apart anyway as they were particularly keen in making sure I had no other issues, which I was super grateful for - it just gave me more peace of mind! Apologies if I didn’t explain that too well in the video!

Almost a year on, the car is absolutely faultless so the work they did do has certainly helped thankfully!
As for the oil catch can, that’s definitely on my list of things to do. It had a de-coke not long before I purchased the car but is due another one soon i imagine!
It's not just the n14 that has that problem. The n18 has the same problems.

Hi. I own a n18 R56 JCW since about may. No issues as of yet. I purposely stayed away from the n14 engine. I heard its really unreliable
I like your mini. Same colour as mine. Just minus the spoiler and diffuser!

Not sure your mileage but trust me get rid when it reaches 70k ish nothing but problems after this

Yes mate they were done by the garage I purchased it from, all good now!
What the cost, if you don't mind me asking, mine needs doing?
I’m not sure sorry, mine were done with the car in warranty - so I didn’t have to pay. SuperminiUK who I got the car off were very helpful
