i personly think why they make the interations between jinx and silco so uncomfortable is just a smart way to see how guarded we are... its almost universal in terms of adult-minor interactions. on the other hand, jinx and silco werent exposed to the easy and tolerant upbringing environment, they dont have resources and education like the rest of us; it also taught us, whenever we saw something that makes us uncomfortable, just dont assume the worst, guarded, but dont assume. i think we all become better after we saw the show. it teaches a lot, for me at least
I think part of it too is to show how Silco has a hold over that Jinx is allowed to know. He both treats Jinx like a child and not like one. Their relationship has great parts and ones that make you question how healthy it is. To me it seems that Silco is trying his best to help Jinx but since he never had the tools to help himself and ended up helping to give Jinx a push in the same direction as him.
@@xxxSpaceOwlxxx it's certainly not a healthy relationship, he really loves Jinx (in a god way, nothing weird here), and he wants the best for her, but he is a damaged man, paranoid and violent, he is way to deep in a bad path, and pushes Jinx in the same path because that's what he thinks it's good.
23:21 [Tea Party] When Jinx asks Vi to choose who she wants, it's a chance for Vi to accept her as she is, especially since there's a low chance of an unexpected interruption in that moment, given their current situation. Instead of clinging to the past or trying to force Jinx to revert to Powder, Vi could respond by saying she chooses Jinx-or even better, express a desire to get to know her more. That alone would likely make Jinx pause, because she’s expecting rejection. If Vi truly believes in the possibility of reconnecting as sisters or friends, she can do that without needing Jinx to be Powder again. Ultimately, it’s Jinx’s decision whether to embrace her past or her present self. Or keep them both as chapters of her life. 🙇
To what you said about Marcus - I think as a younger man he was brash and ambitious, and didn't understand all the implications and responsibilities of being/becoming a parent... which changed him and his perspectives when he had a daughter of his own. It made him a lot more introspective and regretful, weighing his decisions a lot more carefully than when he was younger. He finally "got" the bigger picture. Also: I've never become so personally invested in characters in a story as I have with Arcane. It is so well written and it speaks to me on such a personal level. I have a semi-similar backstory as Vi and Powder/Jinx, as when I was a teen I found myself in a parental role with my 3 younger siblings. [Obviously without all the murder and mayhem, though.] 🙃 So, time can't pass quickly enough, waiting for the next season. 😬
I loved Arcane and your analysis of it. I started watching it because my oldest is a hardcore gamer, and we both are Imagine Dragons fans. I live in Southern California - Moreno Valley specifically, and originally from Boston.
Sounds like something a baby Jinx would do. Nevertheless, Arcane livestreams are far more important. Taking care of kids comes second. No excuse. Do better next time. I forgive you this once however.
I have such a pet peeve about false dichotomies, and not just dichotomies, but limited choices/realities in general. Like people basically making it so Silco is using Jinx OR he loves her. Mel is using Jayce OR she loves him. As if people can't be complex, my immediate understanding of these characters when they presented these multiple motivations, was that they have multiple motivations, like people do. And maybe I'm just coming from a place of being someone who analyzes their own motivations all the time, and maybe I just have the privilege to know and understand from experience that we do as humans have multiple motivations for different things, and one motivation doesn't just completely invalidate the other. Life is MUCH more complex than that. And it really makes me mad about Jinx and whether she is or isn't "redeemable". The idea that there is NO POSSIBLE WAY that someone could be redeemed is absolutely WILD to me. Like whether or not I can see a way, I would never tell someone that it is impossible for them to change or that them changing doesn't matter or isn't valuable or valid in any way. You might as well sentence the death penalty. Which is exactly how people feel when they are stuck in this cycle of guilt and shame and everyone decides that you deserve it and much worse, which makes the shame and guilt worse which makes the instability worse which makes the behaviors worse which makes you think they are more horrible which makes the guilt and sha- well you get the point. When you decide that someone isn't worthy of change, you block their ability to do so. You didn't realize or logic that they couldn't change, you MADE that a reality. Obviously Jinx isn't a real person, but there are a ton of people that are like her, in a cycle of doing awful things because the world did them wrong. People with NPD have such a thick wall protecting them from even recognizing their wrong doings BECAUSE of people like y'all who decide they should die if they do any/enough wrong. They are the perfect showcase of the damage that neglecting to allow mistakes and change does to people. Did you know that when you look up how to get better/change/cope with NPD, it doesn't give you help or resources, it comes up with ways to get away from narcissistic people. The moral ableism we have as a society, the way we treat people when they aren't more all the time or enough, instills fear and makes everything worse. You can actually make making mistakes okay, without teaching someone that those mistakes are good. When people become afraid of making mistakes, it just takes away their growth and ability to handle making those mistakes and learn from them.
I'd absolutely love to see you react to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood if you're open to anime. It's a series that revolves very much around family relationships (both blood and found family) as well as dealing with trauma in very different ways for the various characters.
Feel like it was danced around here with silco and jinx. That she never actually grew up. So her interactions with him are so odd because shes still effectively powders age mentally, but in a womans body. And to an extention of this, i dont think Jinx has mental space for romance, much less viewing others in an adult light
I feel like there's an underlying trauma for all the people in Arcane or League of Legends Universe because it seems like they're all always feeling threatened and needing to be in ""survival mode" .They all seem like there afraid they're going to die at any moment, which makes them do things to themselves and each other that cause more trauma leading to feeing more threatened.
Hello Dr. Courtney,... do you not know about "REN, HI REN" yet? I SEE NO VIDEOS BY U OF HIM AND HIS MUSIC WHICH IS BEING PLAYED AND DISCUSSED AROUND THE WORLD! Are U on vacation?
i wouldve personally liked it if AT the beginning you talked about the ending of the Last episode of the first season before immidiatly goin "so ive seen this in trailers and heard these spoilers yall wanna talk about season 2" as someone that tries to get 0 spoilers this is annoying cuz i cant watch thise live replay and i havent heard you talk about the ending of the first season. your emotions/your thoughts and your theraputical reactions Aswell
Sometimes it is good to not know the lore, as for example for those who familiar with LOL was no intrigue in tea party: someone must die, but 3 of 4 characters have lore (plot) armor, so guess who it will be. Or Victor, known as machine herald in the game, is evil character who wishes to robotize all (strong vibes of borgs from startrek) - so knowing this the only thing I thought seeing him is when hi will turn to dark path. But if you would like to know a little more about world in shortest amount and video format the best way would be Necrit video "The World of Riot's MMO Is Already Done" (and after that maybe some other of his videos)
Next time you do one of these allot more time for it. This was way too short. There is so much more I wanted to ask. But I appreciate you're a busy woman so I'm glad you did give us the time you did.
Perhaps you could request for an Arcane stream part 2 livestream then. 1 hour can really fatigue a person you know. I can’t go over a half hour talking to people.
Considering how creators are willing to explore Vi and Cait's romantic possibilities, while in the game they were on really bad terms, does that give you any thoughts?
@@MegaMilenche Vi & Cait are partners though. Like, they work together. So the ship kinda works, especially with Legends of Runeterra. Jinx just cannot be in any relationship. She's too unstable to be in one. It's a cute ship, but it only works with the Arcane versions in my opinion.
@@Shythalia They are business partners that have a bad personal relationship. Like, they don't like eachother after hours. And their working relationship is not even equal. It's Cait being the boss who has to control Vi who goes around and does police brutality all the time. For Jinx, of course she would need to become stable before anything can happen with anybody. I wasn't talking about her outright dating, though. Just having them talk about it.
jinx and ekko is never going to happen. she's murdered too many of his friends. plus she doesn't even like him. he had an unrequited crush in their childhood and that's it.
Hmm, they they shouldn't have Vi and Caitlyn progress romantically, too. Since the lore presents them as begrudging partners who have bad personal relationship.

Yeah, they showed that he was conflicted at times but he never broke free of that. It just wasn't enough. They gave him a daughter and that was fine but like, caring about his daughter is the bare minimum. We needed more.
@BattleAngelFan It was also a situation that he put himself in, you know. It's not like there were circumstances beyond his control to begin with. He is still written well, he just needed a little more in his backstory to justify his shortcomings, I think.
it's interesting people ask if jinx is redeemable but nobody ever asks if Heimerdinger is redeemable. He's spent two hundred years at the helm of the city and let things get this bad, so he's actually the main villain of the series. Also Vi is a murderous sociopath. She doesn't care about bettering the city. She just got salty that her sister decided she didn't want to be under Vi's control anymore, so Vi waged a warpath.

im so sad that i missed this live session with you, i would have totally chimed in
Have you had any "that's not how it works" moments? If you were asked for your input in the planning stage, would you change anything?
