This is a video I really enjoyed very much, Been down for wheel refurb training so thats all done Been down for bumper repair and paint blending so that was finished on Friday. The last thing I need to do is the panel beating course which will be later on in the year so this video was a awesome glimpse into that. Hopefully be up and running in the next 2 or 3 weeks with my mobile wheel refurb and bumper repair business as the vans with my fabricator right now being built and the wrap design is almost finished too. But this type of repair in your video is what I will be aspiring to end up being able to do. Another Great video mate :)
Hi mate. Glad your progressing with your training. Theres plenty of work out there without taking on this kinda thing. If you do your social media right and market yourself correctly then doing bumper corners and wheel repairs should keep you plenty busy enough. Ive been doing this nearly 8 years now and like to challenge myself. This kind of repair has become fairly common now and i enjoy the process and results. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@cvrpov You done a decent job on that car with the repair it was good to watch, Yea the social media aspect and marketing is something I am going to take seriously, Wheels are going to be the back bone of my business and I want to do all wheels but I am going to aim at doing custom wheels " flip and candy paint jobs " along with regular wheels so marketing and social media will be important to get correct in terms of how to present myself
Great work been following you for sometime now but ive alwasy wondered whats the black pipe with metal end connected to the panel when welding? Whats the purpose of that being there?
Had a guy come to fix my car door after being hit and run. He did a great job. Not sure why he put turtle wax on top of fresh paint. He said to keep fust from collecting. But it came out good
Hi, Just one question: why painting outside in very humid and cold weather ( 12-15celsius and 70/80% relativ humidity) i get solvent pop, and painting in the sun a lot less( and nothing in summer)?
nearly a fully trained pannel beater what is the name of the scetcher you have to draw the wheel arch swedge i normaly just use guide coat but this seems good for perfection
Hi! One question: if you are using an air dry clear coat, isn't risky to cure it with infrared? For solvent popping for example. Or maybe you use "standard" clear (?). Thanks :-)
Great vids, really helpful.I am curious about your mask when using 2k clear.( I ve followed your wheel refurb series, and i am at laquer stage, i normally use 1k,but want to try 2k but unsure of mask and filters)Any advice appreciated. Also do you know why laquer can crack or craze? Cheers from a novice looking for pro results!
Hi mate. The mask is Gerson 2k mask. 1k laqcuer often leaves an 'ok' finish but has poor durability. Its also more prone to problems and crazy paving. Painting over 1k or repainting the same area with 1k can cause fizzling and crazy paving effects. Strip all of it off and start again. Look into 2k products there are even rattle cans that have a 2 part process in them now
Hi mate, I am just away to start my mobile wheel business in the next week or two and have done a couple of diamond cut wheels now in the van which turned out amazing thanks to things like your videos mate. Quick question how well do full diamond cut wheels hold up with the lacquer straight onto the bare metal. I think I can remember you saying they hold up very well without any adhesion promoters on the metal surface. Basicly I just want to make sure before I do any customers cars mate :) PS waiting for another one of your videos mate I love them hahaha
Hi mate glad ur up and running 👍🏼 this post got buried in the mountains of abuse i get for my cordless drill video 😅👍🏼🤦♂️ I personally use diamond clear from express paints. Its not an etch lacquer, but not had any problems (that i know about). Im sure after x amount of time the wheel may fail? They do from factory, so I'm sure if they chip or whatever then they will be susceptible to corrosion the same as the original finish does. There are etch lacquers but I've never used one. Got 7 videos lined up for edit. Id like to start getting some on over the next couple of weeks!
@@cvrpov I got diamond clear on the van with 5 and 10 min activators really good clear coat :) Yea I met a lad where corrosion set in 7 months after he bought the wheels so even from factory it can happen. I used that bondrite and it came out milky maybe it was something I done not sure but I have bought multi mix etch clear coat as well now and some of the other lads on the network I am in said they spray that onto the diamond cut for adhesion and then swap over to diamond clear for the better finish and I done that and it turned out great. I have been getting some great results from my training and also your videos which is awesome. I am looking forward to those seven videos as its great different points of view how things get done so I really enjoy your videos :) Thing is with youtube or social media in general you are always going to get people gobbing off about something regardless on what it is and as far as the cordless drill videos go its great for people who want to give it a go and dont have things like rotarys and DA's, I seen that video and thought it was perfect for somebody wanting to do DIY on their wheels :) If you ever get the chance have a look at some of the wheels I have done on my business facebook profile " Wicked Rimz " It would be cool to get your thoughts on my wheels considering the diamond cuts I done I took a lot of inspiration from your videos for doing them
@@cvrpov A lot of guys on the smart repair network love the multi mix clear coat, I have only used the etch clear once and then diamond clear ontop for a glossy finish but both were great :) The Two diamond cuts on the top of the page were both done using a combination of your videos and what training taught me and they came out amazing :)

Creates the circuit in a fashion. It's a magnet and a metal tip that welds to the metal in a 2nd location

Do you ever end up with contamination in the paint with working outside?
Sometimes and most the time. I will do a proper video on this
Do you happen to know how to remove an sline sideskirt from an a3 8v? I have a spot of rust right under my sideskirt and want to takie it off
Not sure on that one sorry
Hi! One question: if you are using an air dry clear coat, isn't risky to cure it with infrared? For solvent popping for example. Or maybe you use "standard" clear (?). Thanks :-)
Hi mate my clear dries via lamp or air dry. Both are fine
Question, the edge that you pull on to get the line back in the arch, is there a way of doing that without your fancy pullers 😁
Could perhaps use some glue tabs
Nice repair. What was that tool you were using on the arch to ensure the correct distance?
Hi mate it was something I picked up off ebay. I cant remember the name though.

did you need to buff to other panels around it to blend in thr new clear coat?
Yes last part of the job
