  • ARE UPGRADE DRIVER SHAFTS WORTH THE MONEY?
In the past the 'stock' shafts that have been in drivers have got a bad press but they seem to have really improved over the last couple of years. Ali tests a £200 upgrade shaft in his Titleist TS3 against his current stock shaft, but is it worth the extra money?

Surely the characteristics of the shaft are important (stiffness, kick point etc) matched with the loft of the head and an individual’s swing🤷🏼‍♂️. Like you said at the end...proper fitting is key.

Thanks for admitting you’d spend the extra cash on the better shaft.
It’s not a night and day difference, but it is a difference. I have one and my dispersion got tighter over night.

I know I am a little late to the party here, but you hit the nail on the head, "prefer the feel". I have hit two identical driver setups, the only difference was the head, one sounded like a tin can and the other was a dull thud. I prefer the dull thud sound and I hit that one way better. With the "tin can" sound, I was not looking forward to the strike. I think you could play any club out of your specs as long and you like the looks, sound, and feel. Great video.

These two arent even close. The ball flight on the Graphite Design was night and day better. As for the dispersion and "feel", THAT is why you spend the extra. The initial numbers may not show it, but that feel will only get better and better the more familiar you get with the shaft and after a while you'll also be able to really unload and maybe get that extra distance. But already based on ball flight alone these two shafts are night and day

There are differences between shafts. I say if they do better for you go for it! I tried Ping Distanza, Ping soft regular and regular. Regular turned out best even with swing speed of 80 give or take a bit. Exotic shafts ? I believe trying everything until you find what you need. Problem being sometimes you need a few rounds to get a real picture. Spider Dubiel

Ive just been professionally fitted for my Driver and 3 Wood Shafts. Was playing Tensei Orange in both clubs. 60gm Stiff in Driver and 65gm Stiff in 3 Wood.
Am now playing a Graphite Design Tour AD BB 7X in Driver and Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 7X in 3 Wood.
I now hit them both longer and with better dispersion. Were they cheap, no they weren’t!!! but they are worth it to me as a single figure handicap golfer, as I’m a firm believer in “You get what you pay for.” Especially in golf!!!
ie... if you buy a cheap set of waterproofs, when it rains you’ll get wet. Buy a decent set of waterproofs, you’ll stay dry!! Lol.

      what's your swing speed

    • @William45ish
      @William45ish 3 года назад +1

@@RavenAndrew1 Hi. My swing speed was averaging 103 mph. However, I learned that it’s not just about swing speed. It’s also about your swing tempo and your lag on the downswing. My swing tempo is quite slow and relaxed, but I create a lot of lag due to the fact that I release my club late creating a great deal of lag. Thus, the stiff shaft couldn’t cope with this and caused inconsistency in my ball striking. The extra stiff heavier shaft cut to 44”s long, helped to correct this and my strike and swing are consistently are much better. I now seem to strike the ball out of the middle of the face more often than before.

I came from a TM R15 with a Speeder 57 S and went into a TS3 with the Haz Smoke S. I hit the ball further with more penetrating ball flight but don't like the feel. Seems boardy and I have to go at it. Any ideas on a current shaft that would have feel closer to the Speeder 57? Thanks

Luke Warmwater i was wondering about how the r15 stacks up against the newer drivers, did you gain much in accuracy and distance ? I’m playing the same setup and I am going for a fitting in a few weeks. I’m planning on hitting new shafts in my current head to see if I need a driver or just a shaft. I really like the look of the r15 and the adjustable weights.

    Good afternoon,
    I currently play a TSI2 driver
My swing speed is 98 miles an hour
The shaft in my driver is the Tensei Blue AV SFW 55 gram stiff.
Currently when I swing my driver, I am UNABLE to FEEL the head load in the shaft.
I am looking for a shaft that would help me have a better feeling of the head loading.
I have done extensive research on graphite design shafts, but not any other manufacture
    What do you suggest?

So, you struck both the same, but better dispersion with iz.....but it’s your swing? Ok I disagree. Iz is a better shaft. Stop hating I know it’s more money but upgrade shafts are better than stock shafts. I know it’s more money that’s understandable. But the suspension is better on a mustang gt 500 , than on a stock mustang. Hello !!! Whether it’s worth the money or not is up to the golfer.
