I have a question about the video, which is where do you get the photos? I mean, you like to take your own photos but there may be some photos that you can't take. Where do you take the photos from when that happens?
@@espiritulibre53 Some stock photo sites are specialized in free use pictures like Pexels, others like Flickr allow you to filter by license, just gotta make sure it's a permissible one like CreativeCommons.
I usually don't comment, but hearing the note about "I take photos and get inspired by cool textures and trees and stuff and then never end up using the photos" is relatable as hell- as is the joy of finally finding a place to USE those photos in your art. I gotta try this method more! Get me out of some art funks. It's been great seeing your videos again! I hope you're having fun!
Watching you draw again with such passion is so great, makes me feel more motivated to go finish my art work I neglected for so long 😂 this is truly amazing to see your process Ross!
This came at the PERFECT time cause we literally just started a photobashing project in my digital art class! I hadn’t heard of this technique before and was feeling lost but this video helps sooooo much, thank you!!!
Great video, Ross, thank You. Can you tell Ethan to put some more tutorials out? He is missed, just like you were. Now we have you back and we need him back, too. Please.
@@RossDraws Thank You, Ross. I think it is so amazing how you, Ethan and others put yourselves out there for people like me and SO many others to get inspired and motivated. I heard of your channel from Ethan Becker then I went here and saw you hadn’t uploaded in a while. Then a month ago, seeing that you were back was so special.
I have been secrectly using this technique for years and always felt so guilty, because I thought I was cheating as an artist. Hearing and watching you using this technique has made me feel more self-confident, thank you! Wonderful piece!!!
I already know im gonna spend like 3 hours trying to figure out how to do this in csp haha, I've never learned photobashing properly before so this was really helpful!
Such a sublime artwork, the mood, the colors, even the techniques, i'm so happy to see even you try out all kind of photobash techniques, since it gives sooo many options. And most of all... WELCOME BACK Ross, it's truly a pleasure seeing you smile again here on RUclips always trying to make us smile :). Thank you thank you^^
Honestly i have been matte painting since i did my bachelor on character and environment design and i did not allowed me to do it any longer because i saw so much shade about people calling it cheating and all. But watching u and other big artist using it like this, especially your distortion and liquify videos it now gave me the courage to go back to it ❤️ thank you so much ross for being the inspiration i need
Thanks so much for giving us a Crash Course of PhotoBashing Ross. Truly learned a lot from this video. I'm going to try this out next time I open up Clip Studio Paint. Also It's really really great having ya back on RUclips again. Loving these vids a lot.
Hey Ross, I just want to say I’m so happy I found you. I’m a DM and I play a lot of D&D with my friends. I’ve been using your art for my home games because your style puts the biggest smile on my face. Your Original character Faye is a character I play in my sessions. I had no idea that you had a RUclips channel. An entire animation for her with your Nima collection. Dude. Your art brings nothing but joy to me and my friends. And now that I’ve found you I can’t wait to see what your videos are about. Thank you so much for your creative mind. And thank you for designing your beautiful character Faye. XD
I feel this is the kind of video I needed a while back. im glad the algorithm has directed me here. now I can finish some pieces I got stuck on and this has helped HEAPS
Glad to have you back! Your return reminded me of my Digitalart Bootcamp submissions for the assignments and it was a magical moment for me to see my progress (decided to post more recent designs in there, hope that is ok to post multiple submissions) Anyways, thx again for all the advice and information
As much as people hate AI it's pretty good for photobashing as well and getting more inspo. I sometimes use it to test a bunch of bg scenes and lightings before committing fully to one
this was so helpful!! I feel like im always taking pics on my phone when something inspires me and then never know what to do with them LOL so photo bashing could definitely be one of the ways I do that!! Im so excited to see the other half of the painting and meet all your future characters :D
I haven't done pure photobashing stuff in yeaaaars. 😅 I've just been doing 3D based stuff, which funny enough was born out of my photobashing era. Think it's time to jump back into it. Thanks for the video, it helped reunite me with an old friend. ☺
How do you handle the publishing for your books? Do you have any pointers for those of us who are also working on our books as far as the actual print, publishing and layout?
I need to start doing this because I really suck at trying to think of backgrounds to do 😭 I’m just curious about the legality of it, do you use copyright free photos? Or is it fine if you paint over things?
This is a common subject! Here's what I learned!! - Your own images you can do anything - Images you bought you can mostly do anything (there's always some special cases, read the rights) - Asset Images you downloaded (depending on case, some may just want credit if it's recognizable) - Random photos and assets on internet - you can paint over things, the original source should be mostly altered if you are planning to make money off of it. ~ it's a tricky landscape, maybe I should make a video for this!
Hey Ross! I love this so much, I use photo bashing to help get quick ideas down too. I was wondering, at what point does an artwork count as cheating or something you can say you fully created, since you use so much filters from the filter gallery and other photos so directly, where do you draw the line? I find a hard time knowing what is cheating, cause I want to say I fully made my artwork, everything was intentional and not just computer generated, if that makes sense😆
