Thank you all who came by and said hi!!! it's so amazing to meet in person and have conversations, i feel so lucky for my community!!! 🥰
My boi Ethan has no words for us?
The art world is experiencing a famine in terms good content. There is a lot of good technique but quality content is MIA.
Horror, gore, violence, sleeze, immoral characters do not make up quality content. Sure this stuff may attract an audience but just because it has support and a lot of people enjoying it doesn't make it wholesome. Plus the stuff I see at these expos comes nowhere close to the classical masters and other great artist of the past eras. Even the best of the best artists today with all the available digital help including 3D aren't able to pass the greats who used traditional mediums. Admittedly one does has to dive into the past artworks and spend some time researching this to realise how true this is.
Hey Ross!!
What's your artist advice for artists 😁👀👋
omg Gretlusky is my favourite!!!
SO COOL TO MEET U ROSS
hi sam
Yioooo, Sam is here!!! I was so happy when I saw you on the thumbnail, looooooove your art
I love your advice! It helps me alot
I actually found Ross through watching you. RUclips recommended him after I watched your videos. :D
Unmeet you
It was great seeing you at Lightbox! Hope we can remain booth neighbors next year.
I waited through the whole video to see you
Hey proko!
It's weird to hear Sam and Ergojosh voices without it becoming slow and calming.
Yes and seeing Ergojosh without his beard threw me off as well lol
Ikr sam doesn't sound like himself XDDDD
Out of all my 11 years of being a commission artist the biggest secret I could probably tell is to not overcomplicate things. The greatest artists we all revere and their art and pieces we all love and reference always appear complete and the 'best' version of itself, and if we try emulating the level of such art, we (especially beginner artists) quickly fall down a depressing spiral. Always remember that those artists and their art all started from something and somewhere small
start small; learn the fundamentals, grind on the paper and keep on drawing as you expand your visual library, KEEP ON STUDYING/PRACTICING, greatness takes time. Remember, even the tallest of buildings had to be constructed from clear patch of land.
trust the process.
hey thanks for this the reason I created my channel to test how far my grindset is. Totally true, it takes a lot of couarge and passion to be good what you do.
This was great comment, I unfornatualety I myself have been trying to emulate artists I inspire only to get frustrated but it does take a lot time and paitence to imrpve your craft.
Thanks for the great motivation!
I started a RUclips channel in hopes I could document my art progress as well as connect with other beginner artists who could be of a similar path as mine.
As I have done this for almost one year, I have come to realize (like you have said), greatness really does take time.
I guess with all the social media and the Internet, I presumed that I can improve "within 3 months by doing..." (with all those thumbnails and all...)
Initially, this discouraged me so much because I wasn't improving as fast as I wanted to, but realized that I need to distance myself from the results and believe in the process.
It's only when I actually did the drawing on paper that I come to realize this.
What I got from these amazing artist in this video.
- Focus on growth and not numbers.
- Learn from your failure and don't let it down.
- Be patient with yourself, you need to get through the process to get to your goal.
- Take care of yourself, your body, rest when you need to.
- Consistency, draw everyday even as little as you want, you might find inspiration in your work.
- Draw what makes you happy and follow your guts.
- Find what you are passionate about, do what you love the most.
- Create your own style first to let people know what you kind of art style you make.
- If you wish to join a specific studio with certain style that you like, create art closer to their style so that your portfolio will be more recommendable to them.
- Just do it! don't be afraid to take the chance, if you never try~ you'll never know~ it could be wooooorse~.
- Be true to yourself and connect with others who value your work and you value theirs.
- Practice with the right mindset, empty your cup in order to accept teachings from mentors or tutorial.
- When taking a big project, divide it to goals in order to accomplish it.
- Take criticism to learn from mistakes that you might have missed if you want to improve.
- Learn to love what you want to do or what you want to be.
- go to Ross Draws website if you want metal prints
Ross and Sam are my two favorite artists of all time
Yeshhhh
@@disagreement529 who hurt you. Why are you being a mean human being. What's wrong with you
You and me both
@@simpae2731 Ross, Sam, and ErgoJosh are my favorites!
Wow. What a joy seeing all of these awesome people outside of their art cocoons
It would have been wonderful meeting all of you in person - a huge thank you for putting this together Ross, such a treat 😊
Even our art gods started as kids doing stick drawing
A little advice goes a long way and I'm thankful to all those people that are in a good place in their careers but still look out for those that want to start their journeys
🥰
Thank you for this, For interviewing them and showing us!
HELL YEA!
Meeting you was among the highlights of my weekend, Ross! Thank you for bringing so much energy and love to the event and making everyone feel so included. I am beyond honoured to be included in this compilation of legends! ❤️
IT WAS SO GREAT MEETING YOU! You've got such a killer voice!!
@@RossDraws ...a voice that ceased working after 3 days of non-stop yelling 😂 thank you so much!!
It's so weird watching sam and ross together like watching characters from completely different shows and artsyles come together but i really like it hope you collaborate soon✨💖
Hey, it's me 8:42 (walking through the middle)! This video has so much great advice. One pro artist at Lightbox advised that I make work that is personal to me and my own life experiences. That way my work is authentic and I have a lot to say when discussing my portfolio. That really stuck with me. It was great to sit down and chat with you Ross. Thanks for signing my book!
One thing I like to mention, that I learned myself too, that is really important too
TAKE. FUCKING. BREAKS. and take it slow instead of doing a sprint
Not just taking a break for 5 mins. I mean like, take the weekend off. Do something else and get a fresh mind and focus to go back.
if you keep just painting/drawing all the time, the unholy >Art block< is creeping onto you faster than you think.
Art, like usually every skill, takes time. You try to rush it, you fail. You may be faster, but are you really better than someone who takes their time?
SERIOUSLY!!! I feel like im a hamster on a wheel and always forget to take breaks. Treat your body and brain well!!
This is xactly probably one of the best art advice I've seen in the comments so far among others. I used to not take much breaks when I used to draw in my youth. lolz. But then when I started to take art again seriously during college 2018-19. I have been since taking breaks and not take myself seriously as of yet. Especially with my painting's I have been aiming to do at least two to three a month now instead of going for every other day now. Which has been a great help on focusing on other hobbies I enjoy doing. :)
I've never seen Sam this happy and eccentric 😂
Wow this is so inspiring to see all these great artists and give us insight. Thanks for sharing Ross! 🔥
The biggest threat to digital artist for me is social media, comparing yourself to other artist, ohh he's more skilled than me time to copy, ohhh he drawings are plain why does he gain more likes than me. This video actually help me not to pressure myself and just chill, someday, someday.
Watching this video has really helped me, hearing what other artists go through before they were able to achieve their goals and seeing that they also hit the same stumbling blocks as i do always pushes foward to keep doing art when im going through depression and feel like i cant do anything right, really hope this video helped other inspiring artist out there, and same as always, love you Ross.
The secret is to make your art and drawings so small that nobody can see the mistakes.
Seeing Ross and other Artists giving aspiring Artists like me advices gave me the courage to draw what I love. I was criticized back in 2020 on social media because of my art. Thought about quitting but my dad, my sisters and my friends told me to never give up my Dreams. And this video helps me a lot. Thanks Ross and the others for the advices.
A lot of stellar advice all around, thank you for coming up with this and uploading it Ross!
Thanks Ross on the effort! It's so nice to see and hear all these warm-hearted people with so encouraging advices ^^
I'm an artist myself and I really need to hear this wonderful advice. I thought about opening my own art business, but my mind was in a negative space by thinking my art is not good as anybody and was a lot of stress. When I watched this, hearing some awesome advice from you guys brought me a lot of courage. Thank you, Ross! Thank you, everybody!
I needed this video so badly, and never realized that i did. Thank you for making this. I think i found my love for it again.
I just hope Ross sees himself as a Pro Artist too!
He'll never. And thats how he improves infinitely
Lol didnt realize I was in frame sending that B-Roll to Josh at 5:42 😂 great to meet you last weekend Ross!
It was so awesome meeting you at Lightbox! Thank you for being so cool, and really caring about my opinion of the Mental Health panel (It was amazing!)
10:05 it's so amazing how such regular looking people can be so darn talented. All artists in here are great but when I saw his work, it sorta gave me mini chills lol. Although I want to do character design/comics myself (just as a hobby), I appreciate environmental designs so much. They're usually so capitivating
thank you for making this video Ross. it was great seeing you and a lot of my fav artists comment on this subject!! great advice from everyone!!
This video was done incredibly well btw, from a viewer's perspective. I love that you added the artwork of the artists as they were handing out the advice. Something so wonderful about studying their work as they unpack a small piece of themselves. Thank you for doing this, as an aspiring artist - this meant so much. Thank you kind sir.
Thank you so much!! I love my experience this year in the expo it was great seeing you and all the other artists!!!!
It was so great seeing you man !! It's been so long ! I always loved your energy !! Thank you again for being a friend! I appreciate you bradda !
I would have loved to hear from Marc Brunet, I believe he was there at the expo. Awesome lineup of artists through and through 👍
Oh wow, I've been following these artists online for some years now and this is actually the first I got to see them (on screen). So freaking cool! Thanks Ross! Sending ❤️
A legendary collab and I'm incredibly thankful for this, Ross
just want to say your videos always have a nice positive vibe, ty so much!
Some of these advices are gems that I really needed but didnt know, or just wasnt too sure about. Thanks Ross!
this was such a great video, loved hearing different outlooks from different kinds of artists, thank you!
Thanks for always inspiring us new artists- yall inspire me :)
Ill never forget. I went to comic con in san diego for the sole purpose of having my portfolio reviewed and the first booth I came up to was Ross'. I didn't know who you were at the time, but you were very nice and helpful even though my art was so trash back then. I didn''t have money to buy your merch cause I was so broke but you gave me some stickers anyway lol
WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE THAT DOWN
I find it so sweet that most of these artists replys are focusing on the passion and love for it more than the skill/career tips. It tells me that artists love what they do and are on a more emotional level with the work and the community.
Lets be honest though this should be applied to anything.
10:00 that mindset is a speed run to anxiety. Of course, he is right with what he says, but on the other hand, no beginner will know what the right thing for you is. A professional teacher might get closer, but they can't just give you a clear "perfect" path either. I feel like this is something you should ignore as a taught artist for the most part. Reflect sometimes whether you have crutches and bad habits and go and fix them, no need to sweat it.
Amazing video Ross, truly thank you! Having this insight from such inspiring artists is just so motivating and gives me a lot of faith in what we can all achieve with hard work and a good attitude 💪.
Thanks for upload, this video is very inspiring for other upcoming artisits in the community to hear advice from pro artists.
One Best Advice I can give that I have learned doing the hard way. Is to learn to take breaks when necessary if your into painting, drawing etc and do it religiously you will get burnt out quick like I did. But than after re-learning art again through college recently, I have learned to take it nice n slow when doing drawing or painting where instead of trying to do one piece every other day, I try and focus on if I achieve at least one or two pieces a month. It gives me great opatunity to allow me to focus on other hobbies I enjoy more.
🌟So satisfying and inspirational video, thank you so much Ross! 💜
cool video man
I've been watching a lot of art vids this week
I can't believe I just stopped drawing... I don't know when
This really motivates
Keep making the cool vids
Great to see you doing these kinds of videos. We all want to be successful as artists and learning from the masters is so important. I learned a lot from Dr. Myles Munroe about purpose and living your life by doing your purpose that's inside of you. He isn't an artist but really a powerful preacher who taught valuable lessons that were centered around the truth and just being a human being. It was phenomenal learning from you so far and I'm happy to get more tidbits of info from you in the future!
Oh my, I just love this video. I recently decided to try becoming a pro artist and this was SO inspiring, thank you so much all of you for all those advises! ❤
Its amazing how you interviewed alllll of my favorite artists...love it
Jennifer's art is on another pro tier level 💯✨
I did felt like giving up at the point because I seen so many artists have good art and I thought I was not making any progress (and yes I was slightly inpatient too), especially when you hear advise from some artists but it still makes you feel stuck from doing your art you love to do. This has inspired me to do it again and this time get it right. Ty. 😌👍
This was the boost of inspiration I needed today. Thank you!🙏
Wow this video is so inspiring thank you Ross I needed that.
I really needed this video, thanks, Ross and every artist who took the time to be a part of this. Hearing all these inspiring things make me think I've just high-fived an art god. These tips really pulled me out of a depressed state. 😊
i love this so muchhhh! thank you Ross for sharing this, i've gotten a new doze of passion and motivation ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I am going to sign-up for the course as a college graduation present! I cannot wait!!
Every minute of this is pure liquid gold
Thank you
Thank you for this. I really needed it. I felt trapped in my own art business for a while, and this has given me some things to think about how to change the outcome and still love making are while making a living🧡

Thank you all for great advice! This video deserves millions of views and likes💖
This video put me in a hardcore fangirling mode 😂 I love to see so many great artists together. I am only sorry that we don’t have such an event in Europe 😢
Side note: Sam’s and Josh’s voices sound much different in this video than in theirs 😅
It's very interesting, I feel like most of these advices can be applied to life in general. I guess our life is our art in itself then !
Crazy atwork on the thumbnails haha the kind of things i imagine in my head some extremely cool looking characters!!!!
I couldn't help but scream with each artist you talked to 😆
Very inspiring and encouraging video. Thank you! 🥰
Thank for all the advise ! 👍😊
Hi Ross, thank you for the video it's so inspirational! I've started drawing recently and in digital following a lot of your videos, now it's two years and a half that i draw on paper... I've also started a twitch channel (obviously i have no one watching me) just to have an excuse to draw more!
I've also started to follow art class this year (i'm 44yo)... I'm really having so much fun, I hope one day to become a good artist and who knows... meet you to thank you in person! :D
Sorry for my english, I'm Italian... bye!
Yes finally….MY FAVOURITE ARTISTS COLLABORATE !!🎉🎉
Thank you for making this great video!
I saw Sam in the thumbnail, I have to watch now
Thanks for this. Great Advice all round!
it was nice meeting you at Lightbox expo and hopeful we can meet again
The most under appreciated people in the world. Imagine how much the world would suffer without these artist. The problem is that their talent works against them. The reason the industry takes advantage of them and under pays them is because there is a army of labor reserve. There are tons of talented artist and they are so hungry for work, that very few have any real leverage...because someone else will always do it for less. @6:33 was the best advice
Damn this was useful to watch ! Thank u ross.
I am a new nail artist/tech and I got soo much good advice which is relevant across different art circles 🙌
Thanks for this video! I'm not feeling confident about my art lately but hearing all this is very inspirational. So I gues I have no option but keep drawing and failing. :)
very wholesome video. great inspiration.
Thank you for this…i really needed to hear this right now…
Thank you Ross❤️
Awesome video !! Thank you !
I seriously need to get to Lightbox Expo next time around!
Damn i wish i could have been at Lightbox Expo to meet all of you, i love to draw and one of the biggest inspirations I have is Ross and now finding out these new artist to take inspiration from (and steal bits of their artstyles to practice and learn from them, i know, i have no shame), every tip I saw in this video is incredibly important, there are people that say the same by asking for payment, but instead we are being giving them for free here, thank you so much for the insane efforts and work to inspire others while doing what you love, thank you.
Rare Kevin Chen!!! One of my favorite teachers and one of the best instructors out there!
Just noticed Jhills Nima fan art is your background and I love it
Thank you for this!!!
All big names, this was a joy to watch haha
thanks for the video!!
Thanks! I'm a beginner artist and I have much to learn! But this gives me inspiration to continue!
My dream is to become a concept artist ahahah!
Omg omg omg ross and sam together 🥺🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤❤ my fav artists together 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I hope I can make it out to the show next year! Stay encouraged!
