While obviously this year has been focused around Acuna Jr. and much more recently Matt Olson, the analysis here is spot on.
To think that Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris II could be anywhere from 3rd to 5th best on a team is unreal to think of.
By the end of the season they will have 4 players with 30+ home runs. Ozzie Albies gets seriously overlooked by everyone. For a 2nd baseman to be slugging 28 HRs already this season is amazing.
I don’t say what I’m going to lightly, as a hardcore Yankees fan who grew up watching the Yankees playing the Braves what seemed like every year in the World Series, I am truly
In awe of how well the Braves organization has been run and the choices they made along the way.
The depth of the Braves is amazing. The organization has been run truly amazing.
They knew what they were doing when they let Freeman walk. He was a great player, but they wanted someone a little younger and a big time power bat and that’s what they got in Olson.
They knew what they were doing let Dansby Swanson walk, because they are getting similar production from Orlando Arcia.
The Braves were brilliant in the way they handled contracts and signed players.
    1. Riley - 10 year deal
    2. Olson - 8 year deal
    3. Acuna Jr. - 8 year deal
    4. Strider - 6 year deal
    5. Harris II - 8 year deal
    6. Albies - 7 year deal
    7. Murphy - 6 year deal
Not to mention they got Ronald Acuna Jr. until 2029 and are paying him $12.5 million a year. That is truly amazing value, I think they should honestly rework his deal add some years to the back end and make him one of the highest paid players in the MLB.
In the off-season, they need to work on a longer term deal with Max Fried, but other than that this team is built for World Series runs for at least the next 5-7 years if everyone remains healthy.

They are professional baseball players who know the game and they can pretty much figure out what's coming if they have all that speed on the bases. Like Harold Reynolds said the pitcher almost has to throw a fastball or just let the runner steal a base and get into scoring position and possibly in a position to avoid a double play. It's not complicated. You weren't listening. You're just being a poor sport by accusing them of cheating. The Braves have traditionally been one of the cleanest organizations in the league.

As a Braves fan I hate this video/talk. In a 5 game series two top starters like the Phillies their offense can be shut down and then it falls to a not so great pitching staff. I'd rather be in the Dodgers position, playing great at the end of the year. DO NOT pencil in the Braves as champs, baseball can humble you real quick. Maybe I still have PTSD from 14 division titles and only one championship.

    • @v2micca
      @v2micca Год назад

@@Knasteone Its a flawed statistic to be certain. But, the idea behind it was to somehow aggregate the value of a player's ability to get on base with the value of a player's ability to hit for power into a single statistic. But, the limitation of both OBP and SLG is that they don't correctly weight the various outcomes as they actually correlate with winning. For example, OBP weights a hit the same amount as an Intentional Walk, and SLG weights a triple as three times the value of a single, neither of which is accurate. I actually prefer the stat wOBA (weighted on-base average), which multiplies each result by a linear weight calculated from the actual win probability of said result and then divides the sum by total plate appearances.

In baseball the team with the best record doesn't always win, it's about who gets hot in October. Last year the Philly's got hot at the right time, so will see. Still a lot of baseball to be played.
