Well I tried it this morning, and I'm 0 for 1. Had a 2 and a half pounder nail it just under the surface, felt like I got a good hook set... but it got off in like 5 seconds. 😫 I used a 6th Sense flipping hook, normally don't lose any on their hooks. 🤷♂️ I'll keep at it and see if it was just a fluke. 😂🤙
Good tip, I will try it. I usually use a 5/0 swimbait hook.

How about instead, use a trailer hook to get better hook ups.
If you don't get hook ups like that isn't it your technique?
