    The 2.7 Ecoboost is still strong as can be, a whole lotta fun to romp down on, I got them oil changes down now😂🤣 Thank Y’all for watching, I didn’t realize I had somewhere around 60k views on the last video, my home town is only around 15k and I do have a pretty sizeable family, but got me to thinking probably a lot of folks I don’t even know watched that video and I Thank You😀, Will Rodgers said 2 kind of people friends and those he hadn’t met yet.

      Oh Lord son congratulations, let me know can you feel the 25 hp and 25 additional pounds of torque, how you like the 10 speed and I’ve heard the ride is much improved, let me know? My last payment next month, probably keeping this one for a while more, got mine for 32 in 17 now their over 50, think I’d prefer the fold down bench over the console buckets and might get the extended cab with the clam shell doors to get the bigger bed, but the 2.7 for sure!

      @@poppyneese1811 I had a 2016 2.7 and now a 2022 2.7. I can tell you the 2022 is more refined with less turbo lag, not that the 2016 had any significant ones. The gas mileage is worse by maybe 1mpg now, possibly due to the lack of auto-start-stop and heavier weight. The transmission and suspension are better, thanks to better technology and tuning.

      @@clearcut6818 sorry it took me so long to get back to you, RUclips Notifications, took me a lil while for me to like the changes, but I’m that way about everything, I really feel like Ford is refining a good truck into a great truck, heard the ride is way better too, I’m thinking about trading but it might be a couple more years, looking on Auto Trader and seems to be some decent deals on XLT’s, think I’d get the long bed Super Cab with the flip down passenger seat and the 2.7 again, not that I don’t live my truck it’s just lil thing I think I’d like a lil better. Congrats on the new truck, let me know how she’s doing.

      @@poppyneese1811 she's been doing great for the past three months. I definitely feel like this is the next best thing after the Raptor. The power delivery is instant and the ride quality is much improved. The only zonk is the worsened fuel economy. I used to be able to get 28mpg on the highway, but the best I can do is 23. Maybe after 5000 miles it might improve.

    I've always been a Ford guy. I purchased a 2022 Ford f150 stx package 2.7 ecoboost. First Ford vehicle I've had that's not a V8. The truck is amazing & does great on gas. So far, it's nothing but good. Awesome content watching from Tx!

    • @poppyneese1811
      @poppyneese1811  10 месяцев назад

      They are absolutely unbelievable, understand that going from a V8 to a dual turbo is a big change, my mind still doubts a tiny little engine can do what it does so effortlessly, never seems stressed. Thank You for the compliment as soon as I can get my new truck cleaned up I’m going to do a video. Same 2.7 but since rarely anyone rides in the back, I got the extended cab with the clam shell rear doors, longer bed and rubber floor which I really like, not sure about the 10 speed, but I’m getting the same mpg’s with a 3:73 rear end I was getting with the 3:55 in the 17. And right now I’m praying for Texas getting control of the border, man if Texas falls we’ve had it!

    It's a truck. It runs. It's paid for. Those are the three things I've admired most in any vehicle since I bought my new, albeit stripped-down F100 Custom back in 1978. I recently paid off my 2017 F150 XLT 4x4 2.7 EcoBoost. It just turned 30k miles this week. I decided to quit doing things like oil changes myself since I've been working tons of overtime, and my dealer actually has an excellent service department that doesn't overcharge. I'm pretty religious about keeping up with maintenance, which is one reason I'm only on my third Ford truck, each one lasting around two decades. The only thing I'm worried about with the 2017 is that they can be prone to coking the valves due to direct fuel injection (solved in 2018 by adding port injection) and the leaky plastic oil pans, which the dealer said is starting to happen to mine. I absolutely love my truck, glad yours is working out for you also. Great video, thank you!

    • @poppyneese1811
      @poppyneese1811  Год назад

      Sounds like you really take care of a truck and don’t put a ton of miles on one and keep them, I’d have loved to see and rode in that 78. I’m not sure what oil pan replacement cost, but I had read somewhere someone is making a steel pan for the 2.7’s now. Have you put a catch can on your newest truck, I’m kinda of thinking that may be way overblown, but I had one on my 2017 not sure it made a lot of difference. You know my grandpa had a mid 60’s Ford with old 300 inline 6 I think and it was bad about cracking exhaust manifolds so I guess every design has it problems, old 289’s and 260’s always leaked a little oil and German cars I’ve always heard were out of oil if they weren’t leaking a little. I do think these engines are very sensitive to regular oil changes and you sound like you stay on it!

    I've got a 2017 2.7 F150 STX pkg. I got the smaller extended cab with rubber floor mats. I didn't want carpet as it breeds filth where I live. I now have 44K miles and running like a top. I replaced the tires (Michelin) not due to wear but they were 6 years old this past summer. Love the simplicity of the truck. Just 2wd. It came with a trailer package which I rarely use. I keep it under a carport but the hot TX heat has begun the dulling on the paint in small patches. The plastic cover for the step on the tailgate has broken and had to be replaced. Just put a new battery in 3 months ago due to warnings about the system shutting down features to save juice. Change of battery was fairly simple even though I read where you have to program afterwards.. I didn't have to do that. It worked fine afterwards. I don't drive every day, sometimes just a few times a month so gas mileage is insignificant to me although the computer shows betwee 21 and 22 mpg. I do run high test gasoline all the time to help clean the engine's valves. My son drove mine and liked it enough to get one of his own. So far, so good. Hope it stays that way. I paid $27K new in May of 2017 but I know a replacement would be higher. Mine will be paid off later this year. Love that.

      Sounds to me like your doing everything RIGHT, glad it’s been such a great truck for you, it’s about time for things like the battery and the heat down there is something else, we were in Dallas 3 or 4 years ago on July 4th my daughter-in-law is a Dallas girl and took us to a big outdoor singing thing and she got sick from heat, I thought if she grew up in this oven and killing over a fat hillbilly ain’t got a chance! My son lived in Dallas and I have a good friend in Longview Texas, one thing I noticed Texans don’t pussy foot around, I stayed in the slow lane so it wasn’t too bad. I guess it’s like anywhere else the Texans I liked were in the smaller towns, Dallas ain’t a good indicator cause most ain’t from Texas, like any big city. I traded my 17 for a 23 got another 2.7 but got the rubber floor front bench with 6.5 foot bed and the suicide doors for the back, I think that’s what you have and other than grandchildren nobody rides in the back seat and that 1 extra foot of bed makes a big difference . Love the engine but the 6 speed was smoother to me than this 10 speed, that said 95% time never noticeI I think Ford softened the throttle response a little to. Around here we get lately anyway pretty mild winters, but a 6 or 7 inch snow does happen once or three time a year and I have seen a few 48 inchers, about 6 years ago bought a used Honda atv put a snowplow on it and ain’t had a big one since, but I really think Id do fine with a 2wd with rear locker. Thanjk You for writing and good luck with the truck! Also nothing at all was wrong with the 17, was at 94k and thought it was a good time to trade before she gets to a hundred K, ain’t like back in the 70’s and 80’s nobody would touch a vehicle with nearly a 100,000 on it.

    2019 F150 XLT 4x4 2.7 with 66k miles. Average 20.6mpg on “Normal”driving and I’ve gotten up to 26 on the highway driving from NJ down to Virginia. I change the oil every 5k miles, still have the original tires, brakes, everything. Only issue is that stupid Splash shield. I still have the original, but it’s all held by zip ties now lol.
    I’m also retired, loving it, and absolutely love this truck. It drives so smooth, it will go when I want it to and I can tow everything I need.
    I still have my 2001 Expedition with 198k miles, still going strong, just the rocker panels rusted. Hope I get as much out this truck. I also undercoat so no rust
    I also wish I had that flip down seat, six grandkids lol.

      Great comments, that’s impressive on the tires and the MPG’s they don’t pussy foot in NJ! I traded my 2017, got a 2023, Supercab with the suicide back doors, rubber floor bench with the fold down front and got FX4 suspension, the felt thing underneath is gone and so is the plastic engine cover, honestly think that probably held heat in. Same 2.7 Ecoboost, but 3:73 rear and 10 speed, the 6 speed was smoother, I was getting about the same MPG’s and around 13k in economy mode I started getting around 22.4, not complaining at all, I love the 1 foot longer bed and we never had adults ride with us so the suicide rear doors work fine. Is your Expedition also Ecoboost powered, we have a lady at our Church that just turned 250k on her 3.5 Ecoboost Expeditionand still a nice ride. My wife is a hillbilly, but was born in Newark NJ, her dad washed windows in NYC back in the early 60’s and moved back during the race riots and mine were reopening here about that time. That’s a great ideal in the zip ties, wish that had been my ideal!

      That is an awesome to hear, especially from a man that works his truck everyday. Sam’s had that engineered wood flooring on sale and my sons a Railroad man decided to get enough to do his house, I don’t know how many bundles we put in the bed and wasn’t a weight printed on them nowhere, we carried them in the house and I decided to weigh one of the bundles in his bathroom scale, anyway I had like 2200 lbs in the bed, I thought I have ruined my truck, drove fine during and afterwards steering felt a lil light though🤣😂🤣😂, I’m figuring the engineers know they got some folks like me out there hopefully. Was in Detroit maybe 6 years ago for a meeting, stayed at this hotel that was connected to two other buildings that were GM’s HQ’s, it was very nice, they took us to a Arabic restaurant, I’m a hillbilly so I ain’t much on that highbrow food and everything was wrapped in grape leafs and ain’t much on goat or lamb, but riding into Detroit in a shuttle van from the airport, I couldn’t help but think this is the city that out produced the Germans and the Japanese and won the War for us, it was heart breaking. Like my State of West Virginia the big money guys used us up and moved away. Hate to tell you traded for a 23 and doing a Video on it soon, nothing wrong with the 17, I figured with the puppet in their who knows what the inflation rate will be and how much value will my retirement money be worth and my 17 was still a nice truck, but this time I knew more about what I wanted, bench front, rubber floor, longer 6.5 bed, FX4 and max tow with the 2.7 and that’s what I got. Lord I’ll talk your ear off, Thanks For writing I enjoy longer them comments! We built a ramp for a older buddy this week, he’s in a wheel chair, I was a carpenters helper, board holder mostly, I found out carpenters are fellers with a good plan that they have to be smart enough to figure and change and finagle around to make it work and look good, I’m not smart enough to be a carpenter i salute you sir!

      I was 40 before I bought my first new truck, before I had a lil 2wd GMC S15, really good lil 4 cylinder pickup, it was a sharp lil truck, but wife needed a van because we had 4 kids so we traded it, also waited til our house was paid for, it is crazy what trucks are bringing now, but I think it may be changing, used vehicles are coming down. I do think we’ve been in a recession no matter what the media is saying and hopefully in a year and a half we’ll have a more pro growth President and administration in office. My advice is either wait till you are out from underneath your bills or get the best truck you can afford, something that don’t kill you with payments, be calm not over anxious and realize that ain’t the only truck out there I use to wonder in my 20’s 30’s and most of 40’s how do people do it, they were buried in debt. Looking back being extremely conservative because we didn’t have the income allowed me to retire at 58 when my company became woke and I could no longer put up with the crap. Don’t judge your self by what others do, just do the best you can and live and be content in the moment, the days are long but the years are short.

      I don’t think mine leaked, always 6 quarts out, 6 quarts in, think I got lucky, I gotta agree they are amazing lil engines, only 165 cubic inches. I recently traded for a 23, pretty much same truck, I figured with Biden in my money will be worth 16% less and the trucks will probably jump by around the same, I’m not sure how long they’ll allow gas engines to be made, so traded. Can’t tell a lot of difference think I liked the 6 speed better than the 10 and they backed off throttle response a little and no plastic engine cover, so I hear a lil more turbo sound, maybe Bob on the assembly line missed mine or they might just be gone. Son lived in Dallas and a good friend lives in Longview near Tyler, not so crazy about Dallas, but the smaller towns are really nice, guess that’s like any big city. I’ll tell you one thing y’all Texans don’t pussy foot around on the road, coming back to Dallas from Longview I was running 83 and I was getting passed like a Pinto with 2 plug wire missing!

    Congrats on retirement. You got rid of the beard ; good, that beard ages you man. So tell us what motor 2.7 or 3.5 Boost. Does the truck have the 6 spd transmission? I believe in 2017 they introduced the 10spd. I'm researching the F150. I tow a travel trailer currently with a Gmc 1500 2.7L INLINE Turbo 4 cylinder....and it tows our trailer just fine. I use the same oil as you do; refined from Natural Gas. On my wife's car is Ford Edge with a 2.0 Ecoboost. And yes they calibrate the rear brakes to work harder; as you we were surprised as well. Shout out from Miami, FL... Sadly the WH hates petroleum.

      Thinking I 2017 the 3.5’s got the 10 speed, but the the 2.7’s didn’t till 2018. I have no complaints with the 6 speed at all, every once and while it will get confused, usually in cruise and going down a hill and suddenly another lil hill going up. We bought an RPod camper and I think the empty weight is like 3,700 pounds, loaded guessing like 4,200 and pulls it fine, shocked by how much mileage falls with it in tow, hoping for somewhere around 12 mpg. These Mountains work the truck pretty hard, I’m guessing Miami pretty flat, the GM 2.7’s seem to have strong numbers, not downing anybody’s rig, but reviews I watch they seem to rev pretty high compared to the Ecoboost engines, but owners seem pretty happy with them, I drove a friends 5.3 equipped GMC, before the current body and it felt really really slow of course I wasn’t dog’n it at all. Just did my 90k oil change and so far best vehicle I’ve ever owed, got to admit I’m surprised it’s been a better truck than the Tacoma’s ever thought about being. Be careful down there in Miami, too many people for me, heat, fire ants, alligators, snakes,hurricanes, I’m a pansy I guess! Love to see you review your GMC, love the new body style on those trucks, I’ll get another F150 though, probably another STX, if you can live with out power seats and dual climate control it’s a pretty good choice, watching Autotrader and the prices seem to be going down, this time though regular crew with bench up front and 6.5 bed and another 2.7. I hope we’re starting to see a back lash against the current clown show in Washington DC, in my 60 years worse I’ve ever seen. Not only they hate Petrol, I think they hate capitalism and freedom.

      @@poppyneese1811 Clown show is understatement in DC lol. But I'll keep it clean....I tow a dry weight 5287 total payload including me and wife/gear=stuff. LP tanks and battery 6,500lbs as per Cat Scale. You have to include the WDH for TT(Travel Trailer) which normally over 80lbs if your using bars on the weight distribution hitch(WDH). I have taken through NE Tennessee and North Carolina. Biggest grade 6% 40-45 all the way up no issues. Moving onto a F150 2.7L maybe 3.5? I have driven several V8's love them. But their not a nimble and after towing on grades with Boost. Don't see me going back to an natural aspirated motor. They don't capture torque until you reach 3K RPM's where as my boosted motor catches Low-End torque at 1500-1600rpm's ... My truck may drop two gears yet does it flawlessly without the motor screaming for power as did the V8 coyote or the Chevy 5.3. I have driven all these trucks due to making direct TT delivery's to customers or RV parks etc.. and what ever truck they gave me I would use. Until things got crazy and I requested Boost only gas or diesel. Anyway glad to meet and thanks for insight... Have a awesome week.

      Got on line and looked the 2.7’s water pump is under the front engine plate, my brother-in-law’s Explorer was internal and I think it was like $2,200.00 to replace it. @@poppyneese1811 well thank you so much for going to all that trouble ! …Every time I said something about Lincoln MKS or Continentals (‘17-‘20 generation) in a comment in the groups on FB, they’d always say something about “dreading that water pump because it’s inside the engine.” I don’t know how to fix cars… so I try to learn what nice cars I can afford to get fixed before buying one. I can’t get a brand new car but I can get a nice used car. I really liked the 2013-16 Lincoln MKS sedans but then I found out both 3.7 & 3.5 options have that internal water pump. When they came out with the 2017 Continental …it was 3.7 in base models and mid to upper trims have the 2.7 & 3.0 but that cheaper 3.7 is the same water pump liability …so at least now I know ahead before buying one that the 2.7 is less scary to own than a base model Continental. I think that 3.5 and 3.7 was made on purpose so they could rely on Ford-Lincoln service dept. $$$ sales & hours.

I’m sure there that guy who did the 10k oil changes and has a great truck for 200k, but I usually don’t have great luck, so I’ll stick with 5k and a great mechanic on You Tube Ford Boss say 3k and I won’t argue he knows his stuff. Also being a 2017 I made sure I had a catch canto grab some of the gunk. I just traded my 2017, hopefully get a video out on my new truck, just like I did my 2017, I’ll do the first 2 changes at 2,500 miles, then 5k after that, my theory is get rid of any manufacturing junk, yep I got another F150 STX with the 2.7, my 2017 was absolutely the most reliable most comfortable vehicle I ever owned and I’m getting to that age where I probably don’t have a lot of new trucks left in me.
