    Another really simple but detailed explanation.
    A nice way of using meta fields in taxonomies is to add a Colour Picker field. Then you have a way of dynamically colouring elements depending on which taxonomy item a post belongs to. For instance, I have a classifieds site and have a taxonomy for the type of ad - offered & wanted. I've assigned a different colour to each. Then in elementor I can reference that field as e.g. the background colour for a flash across the ad.

    Do you have a tip on how to add missing taxonomies via the fronened? I didn't find a way to do this using the JetEngine form. That works in the backend.

    Hi, thank you for your passion of applying Crocoblock. I have learned a lot through your tutorial. And I have one question for the hierarchy function in Form field. In your tutorial and demo site, the hierarchy filter can be done but when we use Form builder there is no method to make hierarchy in there. For example, if the property types and property construction company are filtered by hierarchy that can be filtered but when we input in form field there is no hierarchy function in there. So, customers have to find one among thee all construction company names everytime. So, I am wondering that in the Input stage using form field, can we find out the construction companies only included in selected Property type using Hierarchy Filter function? What I mean is if we select one property type then in the next Construction Company section only the Property type related construction companies are shown in the field and the customers can select their wanted company in some filtered amount of construction companies.

    Why can't you see a taxonomy image (media) inside a post? Are they only visible inside listings?

  • @rhysadams
    @rhysadams 3 года назад

    Couple of questions please Paul;
    1. Adding a media url for a taxonomy, is there a way to use the new external url function for the taxonomy. We get our images from an S3 bucket which works perfectly for the actual custom posts but we need to use it on the taxonomy.
    2. Also I see you have put properties on a listings, we do vehicle leases and use taxonomies to group together vehicles such as 1 series hatchback. We’ve got it to show number of derivatives available but is there a way to show a start from price. Eg. We have two listed and the cheapest one is £299 plus vat.
    Thanks so much in advance

    Hi Paul @WPTuts, Thank you for your videos, they are fantastic! I have a question about bulk editing. When uploading a product, you have the option to upload via a csv, which can greatly reduce the upload time to get all the content online. When using taxonomies with custom post types or existing posts, is there a method to bulk upload in a similar manner? I've added a taxonomy to the default wordpress products post type and see the new taxonomy, however when I use the uploader I can't match a csv column to the new taxonomy input. Because of this, at least for default post types, it appears a bulk methodology is not possible here. Keen to see if a bulk input method applies to a custom post type too. Thank you :)

    Paul, Question about creating an archive page for custom taxonomies - i have custom post type for 'Projects', custom taxonomies for 'Industry' (reflects the industry each new 'Project" pertains to - schools, hospital etc), listing for 'Projects', single post template for each CPT, an archive page for 'Projects" and archive is successfully added to custom nav menu. I now need to create an archive for the 'Industry' taxonomy - i am struggling! I have successfully created a listing for 'Industry.' I thought i also successfully created an archive page - as it showed proper headers, footers, breadcrumbs, and listing grid. however i ran into two issues. When creating listing grid archive and toggled on 'Use as Archive Template' - only taxonomies which had CPTS' assigned to them showed - leading me to think that perhaps the taxonomy listing grid shouldn't be an archive? Not an incredibly huge issue - but it would be nice to show visitors that the Industry is a service provided. - The second issue was when I tried to add the taxonomy archive template to the Nav Menu (like i did with 'Project' CPT using your series videos - CPT ***Nav Custom Link tutorial * ***Create a Listing Website WordPress & JetEngine | Real Estate Website in WordPress Elementor VIDEO **51:44***** !!!!!which was a life saver! ) and using the custom taxonomy slug as custom link - it didnt work. :( Should i create another CPT for the taxonomy? What am i missing? Hope youre able to help me out!
    And most importantly, Thank you for these videos! Agree with comment below, skipping parts or entire videos in the series was an awful mistake- i lost a lot of time trying to troubleshoot on my own and money buying other plugins - then to only find out this pairing of WP/Elementor & Crocoblocks is the most effective way to go. There are so many steps that need to be followed precisely in order to pull it alll off. Plus I have found that even many of Crocoblock tutorial videos arent as useful - perhaps outdated? But certainly not as thorough. So thank you!

    Hi Paul.. it's all right?
    How can I make the taxonomy of Additional Items (snacks website) appear only for that registered snack?
    I already have the taxonomy created for additional items, but not every snack will have the same additional items, so I went there and created a listing > terms > additional items, I put just one item and went inside the Single and put this listing terms inside the single... it even shows the items, but the respective additional items of each snack are not showing... like .. all the items of all the snacks appear in any snack I click on and it doesn't appear in alphabetical order..
    (in short, the taxonomy is a checkbox where the person selects several items for each snack and I need it to appear in each different post, different taxonomies related to that post that was accessed)

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  2 года назад +1

      No, it really depends on the project. If it requires a lot of customisation, Hello is great when using Elementor.
      If the project requires less customisation or a faster turnaround, I'd generally use Blocksy as the base, especially if I don't want to use a page builder and optimise for speed. 👍

    Paul C!! I am so confused with taxonomies even after watching all your videos on the subject! I thought I had it but I don't! In your recipe site build you filtered against post type meta fields. And that is my hang up. I was of the mind that if I want to filter something across all posts I should make it a taxonomy! Help!

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  3 года назад +1

      I would recommend looing at HOW you want to structure your data and use that to decide on whether to use a taxonomy (for example, property type, etc.) Taxonomies can be a little easier to use when it comes to logical filtering and navigation. They are just tools to group things into logical containers. I would suggest not getting too bogged down by the terminology and just use what you feel makes the most sense in a given situation.

    • @WPTuts

      It's basically what comes after your domain for the new custom post type - for example if you set the slug to jobs for a custom post type called jobs, it will add /jobs/ to the end of your URL.
