Hi Rev. Long time viewer first time commenter. I'm ops 32 and just killed a load of solo Borg Armadas. Tier 9 Sala with jadzia crew. Sisko crew on tier 8 bortas. 5 6 7 crew on tier 9 vidar. Crewed below decks for max health. As that boosts the mitigation of those crews. Max stats on bortas and sala also. Finally I used a health exocomp and Armadas damage exo. Cloaked the bortas. It worked! Let me know if you want screenshots for this epic punch up strategy. Very light spender. Was FTP until 2 months ago.
Rev: Check out my math. Look at the numbers. This is how it works. Lar the Pakled: I smash small Death Star. Good vid Rev. I personally just used my JemSoloMada loadouts. They smash smart
Scopley should have limited access to the Solo borg Armadas to people who have Tier 9 Vidars instead of putting out the ridiculous 167k charged nanoprobes price and 17 days of draws to get one solo armada if you have a tier 1-8 vidar
I was wondering what the best way to take down the death star(s) was. I spent 40 mins looking for exhaust pipes. HAHA made my comment during the loading commercial. Glad to know its not just me.
Thanks, helpful explanations. Btw, love the ones that have big ships and say it's easy!! For me, finally managed to take down 42 solo rares, with one crew change (instead of Geordi crew, I used Riker, Beverly and Worf; no Bashir for me). So, lvl 38, ent, augur, d4, 30 dmg exo + 50 health crew exo and cerittos for all 3.
Hey thanks for this!!! I just recrewed based on your suggestions and handily beat a 45 borg solo as a high end-ops 42 player with only 1 G4 ship (T6 Valdore). I'd tried earlier using dominion solo crews and wiped HARD :)
@jtsandusky1 I came to the same conclusion last night, and it worked for me. It does mean that your 3rd ship does basically nothing except loot and hull breach. Having hull breach on your lowest mitigation ship means that it'll likely die first - and when it does, no more hull breach. That being said, it gives the DS9 crewed ship a massive boost to its crit rate, so you'll probably take the thing out even faster - provided DS9 is on your best ship. By round 3 you're nearing a 50% crit rate, with stackable shot increase and hull breach up, it'll tear through
About the Jellyfish, it does get that bonus of 15% damage increase every round. If you add that to the 35K bonus that is going to add up big by the end of the battle.
I appreciate being able to use my Jelly. Warp 80 excludes g3 epics from anything above 41s unless you can disco in, so I’ve been using loot crews T8 augur Sisko/Miles/5, t4 Jelly Geordi/Bev/Picard, Franklin A J/Lorca/GG. Gets me about 30k loot each compared to stated loot of 17.5k or so. Ops 41.
My borg refinery tab is messed up. I have maxed vi'dar, yet I only get to trade 10k charged nanos for 6 directives. Scopely is doing absolutely nothing about it. I lost out on rewards from solo armada events because I wasn't getting the directives I should've been, and therefor couldn't do the events to get the rewards.
yes, defiant for borg solo armadas. the ship was literally designed to fight the borg by the federation, we want the defiant, Sisko mentions it when the defiant is introduced, it is freaking canon.
yes rev i agree 100% the defiant should've been there instead of the iss. it makes no sense, if they want to boost the iss then they should make a seperate research option for it.
This was a good feature but the added grind for nanoprobes makes it all for nothing not doing more grind a daily chest would have been much needed for directives.
The jelly is there as most level 39 and up has 1 and till they can get to ops 42 and get a bigger faction ship it has its uses. The defiant should definitely get a research as well but then again that might be the plan for it next arc when some of the f2p might be unlocking it.

@@RevDeuce you have to buy these armada credits to have a realistic chance of competing or even completing events, unless you want every armada to go perfectly each time and to spend hours each day grinding borg probes.

Not only did the game make the Defiant for fighting solo armadas, in the Star Trek universe the Defiant was created by the Federation to fight the Borg. It was only used in DS9 to fight the Dominion because they needed a good combat ship to have on hand without having a whole other and crew added to the show. One complaint I have about how this was rolled out is they did not make it clear in the event instructions for the solo armada event that you needed to complete the research FIRST. Some players wasted directives trying to beat these armada‘s without doing the research. Some players didn’t even know the research was there until after they lost and then went looking for an explanation as to why.
Hahahahaha!!!! I had the exact same question! I understand Jelly needs be there because it is after all a hostile oriented ship but it is not of a faction, but not having Defiant defies all my understanding of where they were going to. Also, why the heck do they not have the equivalent for the vi'dar and vi'dar research to increase its measly low warp range???? Why does it feel like the Vi'Dar was completely forgotten??? Are we going to get a Vi'Dar-A????
Don't forget the research only affects ships fighting the new borg armadas. It doesn't work against probes. It probably doesn't work against the old borg armadas but I havent tested that yet.
Is the Defiant possibly covered as a Federation ship? Yes I know you can’t get it through the Federation faction store…. But it is a Federation ship in the lore. Question is…. Is it coded as a Federation ship.
So far borg solos are fairly easy, get the new techs use hull breach. Cerritos if you want easy peezy. Using t4 ktinga with t6 d4 and maxed Aug taking down 46s and 47s fairly easy
You mean the vessel that was a prototype to counter the Borg does nothing against Borg? Well, that explains why the Defiant was used exclusively in DS9...
Is it possible for an OP 33 player to be able to take down a 35 Borg Sphere with the faction level 28 ships? And possible substitiions for Bashir and Five?
Hey Rev, on an unrelated note: did Scopely forget we have a subspace relay station, or...? I haven't seen any way to get more relays, free or paid, and I haven't been able to move forward with upgrading it in a looooooooooong time.
Rev, I'm 37 with a T7 Augur. Should I always have Georgiou as an officer to get the burning ( to help Obliterate)? Or go with Gordi, Crusher, Miles as you suggested?
The battle won’t last long enough for Augur’s ability to matter. These armadas last only a couple rounds, and the obliterated fires every 3 rounds. Plus the damage boost operates on the base damage, not after the 35000% boost. So even when it procs it won’t move the needle. The bridge spot can be better utilized by someone else imo.
ISS Jelly makes perfect sense, it's not a faction ship, and is in use by a large proprtion of the player base, where as the Defiant is a federation ship.
It can be! BUT, that doesn't mean it SHOULD be, if that makes sense. For example: Taking the ISS Jelly to t5 will cost (raw) 48K UC Gas and 26K UC Ore PLUS 106K UC Explorer parts (this latter is a HUGE painpoint in the 40s. Ship parts are the worst). This only gets you to Warp 80 and is a significant investment. Defiant at t3 (lvl 39) is 385 3* gas and 1120 3* Crystal with warp 80. Let's take the defiant out of it. Let's just look at 3* epics and specialty ships. Frank-A, Feesha, Disco, Amalgam, etc. can all push you past the W80 barrier for cheap. 3* epics don't affect the 4* economy at all cost wise and don't have to worry about ship parts. A T7-T9 ENT/AUG/etc. will almost always outperform an ISS Jellyfish until that jelly gets to T7+ (which costs 292k UC Explorer parts, 65.5K Ore and 129K gas) in PVE/Armadas/ESPECIALLY PVP. Should be noted Jelly can be effective in Armadas, but still will get outclassed by most other ships. (especially shorter armada fights). So this is why a lot of us content creators down the Jellyfish so much. YES, definitely unlock it so you can get the ISS Jellybrawl mission for level 39+. But long term and short term the Jellyfish can slow down your gameplay significantly if people start investing into it. What happens then is they either have to spend to get out of the hole or spent a lot more time catching up.
Rev the only reason the Jellyfish makes sense to me is because it really isn't a faction ship as I understand it. That said, I agree they should have the Defiant as well.
Yeah that never made any sense to me either a year out I just got to this video but I always said why was the tis jelly why couldn't it have been the defiance maybe the Kelvin something else a little bit more kick to it
Help! I have Admiral Kirk but never got the Kirk Quantum Key. Can anyone help? Did I miss something? Put in a ticket but have not heard back from Scopely. PS Combat for ISS Jelly but not including the Defiant VS Borg is nuts. Also PLEASE add higher level Borg probe systems, PLEASE!!
If the USS Defiant is a Federation ship, then it should be covered under the Federation Translink research. So a seperate Defiant research isn't needed. Correct?
I appreciate the tree says the research works on spheres..... but if it turns my faction ships into vidars, can I send my hydra farming Borg probes? I pull 900k per run with vidar but need to cash 1 mill per day....
Wonder if I could manage the 44 uncs... Saw some 42 ships getting hammered on discord, which I don't have yet so risky. The 41s I beat with almost no damage in just 4 rounds using similar crews as you. stat stacking is not a problem, 30k health (before exos) is achiavable for mitigation officers. Shame the 46 system has such a high warp range, but disco can help with that (albeit too expensive on the long run tho).
The obliterator weapon only works with burning right? If i kind of need all power i can get, riker instead of Geordi? Who uses the enterprise kirk is mandatory right? Thanks in advance
The weapon fires without burning, it's the ship ability that requires burning (which applies a damage bonus if there is burning in effect when the Obliterator fires).

Why would you use Lorca on the Ktinga with Sisko and Miles instead of Gorkon? Reasonably long fights that dont need to worry about the first round benefit of Lorca vs. Gorkon. Gorkon will be a more reliable hull breach generator with Sisko boosting crit chance and Miles taking lots of shots on goal. My Gorkon also has been maxed a long time compared to Lorca who is tough to grow, in terms of stats.
The Defiant needs to have the ability to decimate Borg Solo armadas. It's canonly built to destroy the Borg! It's supposed to be a Borg killer. Scopely fix this!
6of11 at least gets the benefit of your piercing bonuses applied on top, Changeling Kira does not. She's generally too slow to be useful for other armadas because of how long it takes her to lower their stats, higher mitigation stats means she'd be even slower to be useful.
The Obliterator weapon still fires without burning, it's just that when there's burning in effect it adds a damage bonus (which for these will be basically nothing).
Anyone know if the new research works on the Mantis? Which faction would it be? Or are only faction ships from the faction store considered faction ships?
Scopely should have added a defiant research to make it effective vs the borg. The Defiant was made in Star Trek to defeat the Borg. Make it So....

You are absolutely correct. Defiant Was for borg
Only in this game, USS Defiant isn't considered a Federation ship.
In cannon, the whole reason the Defiant was originally designed was to fight the Borg.
Better question: why isn't the defiant counted under fed ships?
YES
Because it is a specialty ship, just like the cerritos isn't a fed ship for research purposes.

1. Every ship needs to be doing a critical
2. Boost your mitigation stats

* Val - 5, 7 (Health), Khan
* Katinga - Sisko, Miles, Lorca (Critical/Mitigation build)
* Or Sisko, Miles, Bashir
* Auger - Jordi (mitigation), Bev, Bashir (critical, or Data)
Zhou on Enterprise

No, Lorca makes a huge difference as he make every crit by every ship do 180% damage. Every armada should have a Lorca
Tos sulu cap tos kirk khan.... that will give you lots of critical quick.
The Defiant isn't covered by Federation ships?
Hey Rev, why dont you mention using 8 to make criticals? He does it better than any of the others as this is Borg.
Also, does Bashir work?
What level and tier are your Borg officers? My seven and six are both tier 3, level 15 so it doesn’t seem like much help to swap 6 & 7.
Last night on Twitch he took 7 to T5 so that he could have similar stats to his 6.
What Nicholas said, should also be pointed out the idea was 7's officer ability helping 5of11. It resulted in 3-4% more mitigation for my ship.
It should be defiant it was cannon as a borg fighting ship
The Defiant needs to have the ability to decimate Borg Solo armadas. It's canonly built to destroy the Borg! It's supposed to be a Borg killer. Scopely fix this!
Has Changelin Kira been tested to try to overcome the Borgmada's defensive stats?
6of11 at least gets the benefit of your piercing bonuses applied on top, Changeling Kira does not. She's generally too slow to be useful for other armadas because of how long it takes her to lower their stats, higher mitigation stats means she'd be even slower to be useful.
Dont have Sisko, Data, or Bashir...ideas??
Rev for those who have g3 epics and jelly, so not quite to the 42 uncommon, how will that effect crew layout?
Won't effect it all! The strategy stays the same
@@RevDeuce thanks!
Does Defiant not count as a federation ship?
Not showing the Translink research in my Combat panel????? I'm Lvl 44. What am i missing here?
Not only is the defiant supposed to be for solo armadas, but in DS9 it was literally made solely to fight the borg!!
How did the Augur proc, when there isnt any burning?
The Obliterator weapon still fires without burning, it's just that when there's burning in effect it adds a damage bonus (which for these will be basically nothing).
Anyone know if the new research works on the Mantis? Which faction would it be? Or are only faction ships from the faction store considered faction ships?
It does not
