Man oh man, Why does this now feel like a job instead of a game. Scopely hit a home run with the freebooters for shortening screen time, but now it feel like if I want to really participate in this arc, I have to live on my phone.
There are lots of others already mentioning this in the comments. The Freebooters were a fantastic addition to reduce the grind, but it won’t help much if you simply add even more grinds.
I'm bummed. I'd like to like the voyager. But what I'd like more is for Scopely to fix the refine bottleneck. I have a ships that need materials that I would like to level up a whole lot more than I want one more grind. Rev, glad you're covering the game mechanic for the people with an interest. but man it really seems like scopely just keeps on finding another way to make this game a job.
Yeah. I just hit Ops 40. Still had not maxed my Augur. I may never be able to since I now get so much less 3* red ore. Literally looking at 8 weeks or more to get what I need.
Yeah I had ships that were mining or warping that suddenly showed like they were in other systems but I couldn’t access them. Locating them took me to some random system that I had no ships in and then either randomly or after a cache clear it finally fixed itself.
Scopely by in large does not care about the stability and bugs in the game as long as it does not effect their bottom line. Only when things break to the point of the game not functioning do they actually fix it in a timely manner. This has been going on for over 4 years and does not seem to ever be solved. I have never played a game with systematic issues which last for a year without being solved (Broken hostiles cough cough...).
This game is not a job. I'm genuinely stunned at how much of a middle finger that this arc is to the player base. You did an admirable job of trying to explain the lipstick on a pig that this loop is -- but even you couldn't describe it accurately in one go. Frankly, I'm just not interested. I play every day, I'm still more than a month away from unlocking the Enterprise-G. This loop is serving as the last straw for a lot of players on my server. I've been here since the beginning and I didn't pay for the battle pass last month for the first time in over a year. I expect my wallet will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
They throw us a bone with freebooters. Actual gameplay element that saves grind time. And then immediately give us something that will require twice the grind? Classic Scrapely
REV it's even more convoluted when you think about zooming. I've been playing almost from very start, and always on a cell phone. Got use to zooming in(but hated it) cap traders, as I was careful not to hit heavies. NOW I'm expected not only to wait for 2+++ seconds +++ PER thing I have to click on to collect but ALSO kept zoomed in for longer (slowing down my grind). Also with have to constantly check cool down refineries or set alarm so I don't miss 😂😂😂
It's a super simple loop once you get over the initial hump. The bigger issue is that Scopely broke the game with this update. Lot of seizure inducing bugs.

Yep. Adding grind, complexity, and bugs at the same time is not smart. They really, really,, really need to clean the game up a bit. Take out stuff no one cares about, and consolidate many of the older currencies and such.
Oh great another daily grind 1 bp a day ship I can try to get in a few months. I’ll just add it to the others I’m daily grinding to get. Eventually I can play the parts of the game everyone else has moved on from.
Thank you Rev for saving me the $50 or $100 I WAS just about to spend to unlock this ship early. FTP path for me all the way now as I just don't want another grind added to my day.
I just don't understand the progression since DS9. We got the Bajorn Loop and other than the Ops lock for the Rare and Epic chests it was praised as a great loop. Next came the Borg revamp and it was needlessly complicated with the introduction of the Expansion Cubes. Then we got the Artifact Loop with the Formation Armadas which was also complicated and now they changed to add in specific abilities vs ship types increasing the complication. Now we get the Voyager Loop. Once again, needlessly complicated. It isn't that the rewards for participating in these loops are not good, but we are basically forced into them if we want to progress. You cannot really abstain from these in protest because of the value of the content. It continues to skew their view of our desire for more complicated and convoluted content.
While I'm glad scopely is trying to address player feedback.....did they have to cram everything into part 2? 😭🤣 Is scopely going to give a comp chest filled with aspirin for the huge headache I'm getting? 🤪😵💫🤯
I was so ready to pull the trigger on Voyager, but there has been so many issues and so much to do. This loop alone adds a bit of work. Which would nothing if there isn't so much going on in the game. Solo armadas are a blessing and a curse.
All this new currency, grinding hirogen is crazy. I'm ready to quit, they need to get rid of all the new currency, and use existing ones, MAJOR FAIL to listen to players
It is a lot. It is a bit convoluted. What happened to them wanting to help reduce screen time? It seems like they are trying to reduce some screen time by adding significantly more elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I like what they are providing, it just seems to be too much at once for one thing. Now they can fix the bugs thing changes brought?
Holy Crap. Just what everyone wanted, more scarce hostiles, more crap to mine, another one trick pony ship based on Federation but doesn’t really count as a Federation ship. Add in the crazy Bugs and (my opinion,) worst arc yet. Yay more token systems and minuscule cargo bay. Someone really needs fired about the bugs. I also cringe anytime a pull has “chance” in it. That essentially guarantees you’ll rarely get anything useful.
We regularly mention 'reward for effort', this whole overcomplicated voyager circle grind just doesn't seem to give a level of reward for effort that makes it worth doing. There are so many things to grind and do in the game that provide a better reward for effort that I can see the voyager circle getting completely ignored by a lot of players, just like expansion cubes, formation armadas and starbase assaults. Wasn't Scopely supposed to be reducing the grind this year?
Yeah the cargo is the main thing like you mention, especially right out of the gate, you'd almost have to be crazy to actually use Voyager itself for most of this. I kind of think it never really occurs to Scopely that people would ever do things differently than they intend, so they just never account for it. I also think the Warp Range thing is a super super weird way to limit access to the Big systems, because while I guess it does that, it's not really level locked at all, so we're gonna suddenly have people lvl 40 with access to 500+ Warp Space A Voyager can definitely go to ultra deep space and start picking off miners and completing missions that should otherwise be well beyond people's ability, so I found that a weird way to do this.
Thanks for the explanation, the loop makes more sense now... sort of lol, agree, there is too much turnaround time on the clock for the second and third refinery sections for 8472 and anomaly redeems. But have managed to do the loop efficiently as possible and got my Voyager a tier up.
Yeah. Getting 17 new currencies that are tied to hostile grinding, pay to play today ship, research, refineries, and cooldowns…would maybe be ok if the game didn’t crash 20 times a day. I spend more time loading the game than playing it.
I agree with @Elmoh01 below--just when they fix the grind with the Freebooters, they introduce this. This makes it exponentially worse in terms of amount of time needed to be spent in the game. Next will be the new SPecies 8472 armadas.

I would say there are a few things that should be changed in this loop. The warpcells should get daily chest like for borg and Mantis systems. The cooldown should be 3 days maximum. The cargo for Voyager should be big enough to do the loop in 1 go or we should get enough warp cells to do it in one day but with maybe 3 times flying in the systems. I personally like the loop itself with the different stages but there are parts who stretch it in an unnecessary way. The game is a grind and waiting game even without this.
Hirogen Elites drop @150 tokens, but also drop a chest with 350 tokens. There are also Transports that spawn like the Ferengi Traders in Borg Space. The Transports drop @750 tokens.
Rev, can you please communicate with Scopely. This arc has introduced many new glitches. My ships are leveling up in dock (miners should be at level 200 soon), disappearing during warp, game crashing frequently, ships disappearing and can't use "locate" function to find....and more. This is the worst intro of new glitches that I can remember. TY
Hmm this looks like a very annoying loop, but seems to be worth it. Guess I'll have to simply experience it in a month or two when I get the ship. I really like the scanning for hostiles mechanic, an actually novel mechanic. Hopefully there won't be too much hostile "stealing" as that would very quickly make me stop doing the loop all together.
Apologies if I missed it or you covered it in a different video, but what are the new delta quadrant borg coordinate token systems? The ones that require 100x currency that drops from the new hostiles? Only thing i found online was "Assimilator Data Cubes are here - Voyager’s Active Ability Advanced Sensors must be used in order to reveal them." Do we know the benefit of these? Does this mean you want to have a lot of ability juice saved up before spending 100x of the borg delta coordinates currency?
So it sounds like they decided 35+ didn't have enough to do so give them four more tedious tasks and to make it more fun lets tie it all to a ship that you will have to buy all after the first ship and maybe even the first
The research tree is the ultimate reward from this voyagere loop grind. And it is simply underwhelming. So this will go the way of formation armada , exalted armada etc. Not enough reward to justify putting in the time. Oh and i am ops 57 wich relatively few researches left to do.
I did. You get 1 Shard per day in the refinery, and this month you can get another 50 through the event store if you do all your events (using lobi crystals)
not sure if this is incurring any inefficiency in drops but I took corvus with PvE duo and 5 to kill hirogens. took me half an hour to accumulate about 300k relics. given the current triple refine is just over 4k, I won't be doing that for a couple of months.... when I did the end of loop I used northcutt again with PvE and 5 to kill the 8472.... so scan with voyager but kill with interceptor. at T2 voyager is a tad weak and those 8472s punch. mining is quick with voyager but cargo is low. I've done some research and doubled stonned but it's still only 150k. consequently, people are already blocking nodes using other miners.
Hey Rev, I've watch your vid on how to Voyager, but i find it useless when i can't use Voyager to defeat the hostiles in the beginning system. They are no buffs and a right out the box ship, can't make dent to farm reasonably. The Mantis got buffs for us to start with, why not Voyager. Thanks. By the I'm a lvl 34 Ops and FTP.
Agreeing with everyone else. They keep upping the screen time if you want to not take 2 years to get ships without paying a massively overpriced amount. Seems each arc they are decreasing the enjoyment by adding chores or having people fall much further behind without paying hundreds of dollars a month. Lose lose it seems if you're trying to you know, but food and enjoy a game. Granted in the two or so months until I get the ship I'll have likely forgotten about any of this and the ship will likely be useless for whatever next grind they have gotten added to the game.
The game offers too much to do it daily. Some of the new Voy Stuff is ok, but they should use more time to develop stability and bugfixing! Today I cannot finish my Apex event, cause the armadas doesn' count e.g. That sucks. I have retired my lv 36 account and am playing only on my lv.42, but just because of the fact, that I have invested some real money in it (~€300.-). Otherwise I had quit several month ago. But the main problems are the ongoing bugs, IOS or PC. Please more work on this and lesser new features!
Does anyone know: Does it make sense to send a stronger ship (for example, a 18M Pilum) to the DQ Token Space while the Voyager has low cargo space? Right now, my Voyager has 6,600 max cargo. I need 30k in anomaly samples to do a refine. I used one of my two tokens already. Can a properly-crewed 18M ship defeat Species ships and fill up the larger cargo bay? I would go to the FSEP-505 (36) system. Thoughts please?
Even going through the free to play path is confusing for me... been playing for 6 months and I thought all the new ships were paid only (in my case I did all the events I could it didn't come close)
What is Scopely thinking? What happened to life balance? I play a couple hours everyday. Try to any way - but at least 4-5 days a week. I can barely keep up with the daily grind. I really don't have time for the other 999 factions, mining, hostile hunting, and TC that gets thrown at me. I'm sure the players that live in their moms basement and only stop playing to answer the door for door dash love it. But I really have a life and it's not in the Star Trek Universe! At the current pace, I'd have to hire a First Officer and an Engineer to keep my game play going. Something has to give. Some of us have other things to do besides going PEW PEW PEW all day long! 😱
Thanks for this video. The game gives no help on how to use the new ship. Not sure why they don't build that into the game, even as a repayable mission to help guide you on the grind.
Loop is complicated, cooldowns are long, cargo is too small for the mining. Overall, Voyager has a whole lot of potential. Its weapons deal pitiful amounts of damage but it has a 5-5-9 firing pattern, which makes it one of the best in the game. If you use officer stat based crews, its base damage is pretty much irrelevant and you're only going to benefit from its firing pattern. It has a chance of being the best G4 armada ship, and depending on future officer releases and isolytic damage, it could be the premium primary grinder since its warp and impulse is so high. This all depends on opening lowerdeck slots and with loop for parts being so convoluted and long and such little payout, they found a way to screw it up again.
nice video , as always, but at the moment game is not playable , crashing evere 2 to 3 minutes , and up to now not even a word from scopley, that they are working on the problems ...and the voyager is nearly 100 days away ... behind grinding and 1 day cooldown ... for blueprint ... not amused
First trip in Voyager. The first two hits of Species 8472 got me 617 Biotoxins, 5 days till I can open first chest. How did you progress so fast in 24 hours? 13:43
Worst launch since Territory Capture. Or if you prefer Incursions. So sad they've done it to a ship so beloved in canon. Lots of people are going to quit if they don't sort this fiasco and fix it fast.
Good video as always sir. Cant help the bad content being given. Two nodes to mine not for me. Im done with specialty ships. Ill finish out my titan grind to build it but i dont need defiant or voyager or any of these others they are sending out. I know its a star trek game but could we do some specialty faction ships of this is gonna be the norm? Im already going free to play no more battle passes for me. The game at least on my server seems to be getting more drama ridden and im slowly shutting down to this game. If there is a high grind for stuff the refinery time should be small. Waiting 50 to 100 days to get these newer ships is crazy.
I need ai just to tell me how to play this fking game and keep track of all the bs. I spend more time on the game then i do at work and can barely keep up. When scopley going to start paying me to work not play since its basically work?
Complicated isn’t fun. The game is too bloated and it’s less enjoyable each arc. Finding I’m more excited for each arc to finish, than for a new one to start.
There is no scoring for the eclipse events. I should be finished but it says I have no points. I can barely even play on my phone now. It locks up about once a minute even after a restart of the phone. Disappointed in the game so much so that I don't want to engage in the month.

Their answer is buy Primes to lower costs and buy packs to progress. Otherwise wait.

The research tree is the ultimate reward from this voyagere loop grind.
And it is simply underwhelming.
So this will go the way of formation armada , exalted armada etc. Not enough reward to justify putting in the time.
Oh and i am ops 57 wich relatively few researches left to do.
How do you get the extra free 50 bps ?
So how do you get the 50 day reduction for getting the Voyager on free. It would have been helpful to explain that in the video ?
I did. You get 1 Shard per day in the refinery, and this month you can get another 50 through the event store if you do all your events (using lobi crystals)
not sure if this is incurring any inefficiency in drops but I took corvus with PvE duo and 5 to kill hirogens. took me half an hour to accumulate about 300k relics. given the current triple refine is just over 4k, I won't be doing that for a couple of months.... when I did the end of loop I used northcutt again with PvE and 5 to kill the 8472.... so scan with voyager but kill with interceptor. at T2 voyager is a tad weak and those 8472s punch. mining is quick with voyager but cargo is low. I've done some research and doubled stonned but it's still only 150k. consequently, people are already blocking nodes using other miners.
those bioships 40 .. tier 2 voyager 2 hulls takes it down ,them ships stay locked in place and wait until you return to finisch them of

Hey Rev, I've watch your vid on how to Voyager, but i find it useless when i can't use Voyager to defeat the hostiles in the beginning system. They are no buffs and a right out the box ship, can't make dent to farm reasonably. The Mantis got buffs for us to start with, why not Voyager. Thanks. By the I'm a lvl 34 Ops and FTP.

Agreeing with everyone else. They keep upping the screen time if you want to not take 2 years to get ships without paying a massively overpriced amount.
Seems each arc they are decreasing the enjoyment by adding chores or having people fall much further behind without paying hundreds of dollars a month. Lose lose it seems if you're trying to you know, but food and enjoy a game.
Granted in the two or so months until I get the ship I'll have likely forgotten about any of this and the ship will likely be useless for whatever next grind they have gotten added to the game.

I'm not going to put much effort into this ship. Already have enough one trick ships to work on.
The game offers too much to do it daily. Some of the new Voy Stuff is ok, but they should use more time to develop stability and bugfixing! Today I cannot finish my Apex event, cause the armadas doesn' count e.g. That sucks. I have retired my lv 36 account and am playing only on my lv.42, but just because of the fact, that I have invested some real money in it (~€300.-). Otherwise I had quit several month ago. But the main problems are the ongoing bugs, IOS or PC. Please more work on this and lesser new features!
Does anyone know: Does it make sense to send a stronger ship (for example, a 18M Pilum) to the DQ Token Space while the Voyager has low cargo space? Right now, my Voyager has 6,600 max cargo. I need 30k in anomaly samples to do a refine. I used one of my two tokens already. Can a properly-crewed 18M ship defeat Species ships and fill up the larger cargo bay? I would go to the FSEP-505 (36) system. Thoughts please?
Even going through the free to play path is confusing for me... been playing for 6 months and I thought all the new ships were paid only (in my case I did all the events I could it didn't come close)
What is Scopely thinking? What happened to life balance? I play a couple hours everyday. Try to any way - but at least 4-5 days a week. I can barely keep up with the daily grind. I really don't have time for the other 999 factions, mining, hostile hunting, and TC that gets thrown at me. I'm sure the players that live in their moms basement and only stop playing to answer the door for door dash love it. But I really have a life and it's not in the Star Trek Universe! At the current pace, I'd have to hire a First Officer and an Engineer to keep my game play going. Something has to give. Some of us have other things to do besides going PEW PEW PEW all day long! 😱

Thanks for this video. The game gives no help on how to use the new ship. Not sure why they don't build that into the game, even as a repayable mission to help guide you on the grind.
Loop is complicated, cooldowns are long, cargo is too small for the mining.
Overall, Voyager has a whole lot of potential. Its weapons deal pitiful amounts of damage but it has a 5-5-9 firing pattern, which makes it one of the best in the game. If you use officer stat based crews, its base damage is pretty much irrelevant and you're only going to benefit from its firing pattern. It has a chance of being the best G4 armada ship, and depending on future officer releases and isolytic damage, it could be the premium primary grinder since its warp and impulse is so high. This all depends on opening lowerdeck slots and with loop for parts being so convoluted and long and such little payout, they found a way to screw it up again.
nice video , as always, but at the moment game is not playable , crashing evere 2 to 3 minutes , and up to now not even a word from scopley, that they are working on the problems ...and the voyager is nearly 100 days away ... behind grinding and 1 day cooldown ... for blueprint ... not amused
First trip in Voyager. The first two hits of Species 8472 got me 617 Biotoxins, 5 days till I can open first chest. How did you progress so fast in 24 hours? 13:43

Worst launch since Territory Capture. Or if you prefer Incursions. So sad they've done it to a ship so beloved in canon. Lots of people are going to quit if they don't sort this fiasco and fix it fast.

Good video as always sir. Cant help the bad content being given. Two nodes to mine not for me. Im done with specialty ships. Ill finish out my titan grind to build it but i dont need defiant or voyager or any of these others they are sending out. I know its a star trek game but could we do some specialty faction ships of this is gonna be the norm? Im already going free to play no more battle passes for me. The game at least on my server seems to be getting more drama ridden and im slowly shutting down to this game. If there is a high grind for stuff the refinery time should be small. Waiting 50 to 100 days to get these newer ships is crazy.

Correct, you'll only see the other refine options once you've unlocked the USS Voyager

Complicated isn’t fun. The game is too bloated and it’s less enjoyable each arc. Finding I’m more excited for each arc to finish, than for a new one to start.

There is no scoring for the eclipse events. I should be finished but it says I have no points. I can barely even play on my phone now. It locks up about once a minute even after a restart of the phone. Disappointed in the game so much so that I don't want to engage in the month.
I got 36 For One Hour Of Work Not Good. you need wrap 110+ just to get to that system it suck's i'm op's 43 and can't get there.
Please only use the new tokens with BIG miners, you want a big cargo bay per token. Do NOT make my mistake and take your voyager!
