- With new hostile grinding officers and @everyone being thrust into an epic battle with the Borg (and more probes than you'd ever want to grind) it's time we take a look at grinding out our favorite technological nemesis with our trust old friend the Vidar. In this video I explain why there are some differences in crewing based on the level of the Borg Probe you're fighting in Star Trek Fleet Command as well as various crews for players of any level to use.

We need Higher level Borg Systems. Maybe in next part of the arc in February, they could add some 35 to 45+ borg probe systems to help alleviate the grind a bit (Probably would need to add a 'Vi'dar A' too, but at this Point, a 'Vi'dar A' is more of a want than a Need for me)
When I grind Borg the only positive is, "at least its not worms"

None of those Rev listed are THE go to. After the update with exos, there are two crews. Max loot, and max hull kill crews. The meta for Max loot will be 5/4/stonn with la’an and ghalar underdeck, and max kill counter is goon, harrison, office mudd

I use 7/8/9 and with Lower Deckers, I can max out my cargo hold even with SNW La'an BD. I have maxed research, out and have the Infinitus skin. That said it still is a long grind but helpful for the Heavy Hitters event. Between the Mantis and running armadas, I can't really afford to have 5 on another crew. She ends up being a bottleneck because she is so useful in so many places.

Yes, we need a higher level probe system or three, PLEASE! I use 5/11 - Tlann and Chen 495K per hull. As we get the offices sourced don't forget to add Ghalenar below deck. SNW works really well and I will run both ViDar in a single run to help cut the grind time. Thanks Rev, another winner video.
Don't for get SNW La'an below decks as well, if you have her, so you can get over 500k cargo.
@@RevDeuce have you noticed that using SNW La'an as a lower deck officer for her Secure Logistics ability doesn't work? I place her on my Vi'dar and Mantis and I can never fill my cargo all the way up (there's always a bit of cargo that never fills up, no matter how many additional hostiles I hit). Is this just a bug in the calculation on Scopely's side of things or does her ability not work in the game?
@@Thomas_Roberts If you have officers that increase the cargo, she doesn't work. If you don't, you should be able to get the extra hull with her.
@@charlesray9674 Thanks for the reply. She's the only officer in my crew list that increases cargo size. I run a SNW crew for going after Probes and Actian hostiles, so I use La'an's lower deck ability for that slight boost in cargo. So, I think her ability isn't working as that small boost in cargo space never gets filled when hunting hostiles.
@Thomas Roberts I see what you mean. Maybe she just give a slight increase over the ship's base (normal) cargo hold and if you have any research or another officer that increases the hold, she doesn't increase it any further 😡

Thank you very much for the informative video. Was using 5,6,7 and switched to the snw crew pike, uhara, tlaan. Made a huge difference on my maxed vidar. Lasted about 3 times longer and maxed the cargo space. Will make completing borg events a lot easier with fewer trips.
i agree. borg level 33 are soeasy to beat now. I grab 1M per trip, but it takes lomng time

Hi Rev, I am using 5/11, 4/11, T'Laan with a 125% Vidar Exo and Underdeck SNW La'an. This allows me to fill the Vidar 2x completely within 20 min. Thanks so much for all your vids.
I do 5 4 and stonn on any exo I activate can fill and have laan below deck.. PS chen has more damage reduction than tlaan on 33s anyway

Chen and T'Laan are similar against probes. The kinetic shot in the first round does 5x more damage than the energy weapon 1 firing every round. My battles last normally 2 rounds, therefore T'Laan works better than Chen in my experience. (Also for the old combo PMT vs PMC) LLAP
@RevDeuce Thank you so much. Switching to SNW Pike, SNW Uhura, Fives is a game changer. I can fill my max Vi’Dar cargo at 855k, without exocomps!

Awesome video! Wow like to see more like this for other ships... Stella next maybe? The only problem is not stating if you had below decks helping and also what level each deck officer was that was on deck. The higher levels help but this would help the newer players get an idea when crewing also!

Established mechanic! We don't need "FREE 29'S" debacle!
The crew I use is snw pike uhura and stonn with laan below deck because snw pike uhura by itself with laan below still fills up with life left
EXO's for Vidar Borg Probe grinding, NEED to be allowed to activate when ship is already in the system. Having to activate them at the station is a jerk move by Scopely. "We will help the grind, but really we won't".
When you use your vidar exo you should run 5 4 and stonn if your vidar is strong enough to get the most out of your exo

Scopely could put higher lvl borg in the solo borg armada systems.....like they did with the jem hadar.
Hopefully this arcs ship is a borg cube or the delta flyer.
Spike sinergie, and Borg Ston, with La'an below deck. Max cargo exo activated, and probe exo. Fill up the cargo full and fast. Do several runs, well not several, but spend all tokens, an I'm having more than a week to do full refinery. Also with leftover from cargo exo (it's lasting for 3h) i do the mantis to bring more loot, and also done with them for days

For 29 probes, the standard swarm crew is great as long as your battles end before round 4. It only fires once in that time and it’s kinetic (tlaan reduces kinetic).
I run SNW Pike SNW Uhura and SNW La'an on one vidar and PMC on my 2nd one. I will have to try your variations. I get max cargo on the frist vidar and like 2/3rd on the 2nd one.
I use 7/5/4 for max cargo size and max rewards

Thank you for the help REV. It is possible to do the same reseach for the Mantis to find the best crews for Maxing the kills and/or the Venum.
Try 5 as captain with Kang and Gorkon on the sides. La'aan on lower deck to boost cargo bay if you got enough slots.
This advice came courtesy of Ultimate DJz. (No I'm not him, just didn't want the undeserved credit lol)
I just pulled 1 mil from L33 Borg probes with my Vidar Sr using SNW Pike Uhura Five.
5, Kuron, T'Laan works perfectly for me. 597.4k probes per hull, finishes within +/- a few kills so I save time both grinding and warping. YMMV of course

I loved using 7,8,9 for the lvl 29 probes with a tier 7 V'Dar: if 7 got the bonus shots, the probe was destroyed before I took any damage as the first gun never fired and the three shots from the first gun was enough at the time to destroy the probe.
Imo best crew when using all exocomps is 7/11+4/11+Kuron. This is quickest way for filling full hull when you pop your 500%+250% exo comp. At my lvl I pop the 3rd vidar exocomp and can fill up 6m+ in less than 1 hour. Time to next Borg probe is biggest problem to fast farming. This fixes that. (Nickeyblaze s61 STBL admiral)

This arc has brought the Borg back to the forefront of the game. Yes they added 3 more systems of level 33's but it's not enough. Grinding out the Borg for these missions is a pain when nearly everyone and their mother is swarming level 33 Borg systems. I will say I still prefer anything over the damn worms and I'm happy that I can punch up high enough to only need to take out 4-5 worms to be done. But yes Scopely needs to address the Borg probe problem because they are THE big bad of the Star Trek universe and having them cap out at level 33, without counting armadas, is kinda a disservice to them. The Borg aren't scary anymore and that is kinda sad.

24hrs and scopely is gonna 'fix' the 29s. While ignoring other issues like below deck cargo crews not displaying correctly and cerritos shield regen research not working etc for months.
Just got vidar tonight. Ops 30. Have at tier 2 1 upgrade from tier 3
Folks should know there is an event currently that can get you a Vidar from 0-100 in a few days. Much better than the weekly F2P grind.
SNW crew la’an and uhura with Pike as captain. Filled the cargo up. Missed the amount required by 10 points…
I run 7/5/4. 4 gives extra cargo. I can fill 700k of cargo and still have half hull left.
Yup! Much easier to do at higher levels (plus you need 4)
I feel Scopley should add at least 1 level 34 and 1 Level 35 Probe system as High Ops 40s to 60 are chewing through the 33s and it would prevent system clogging.
If you have max Vidar and some good research. I prefer to us a chargo crew 7 Captain 5 and 4! I buy the vidar prime chargo! (Which can get it for free if you in 50s) With la an I get a chargo over 1 Million and it is no problem to get the chargo full before the ship gets broken! With the new ex the million get full very quickly!

I use PMT, have the primes and Infinitus and generally pop out of the 33 systems with about 600k.

Pike/Uhura/Una isn't on here. Would it be higher than or equal to Pike/Uhura/La'an? I've been working under the idea of yes and putting La'an lower decks to have more cargo space to fill.
That's the crew I use, I also have Badgey for damage and Bromiler for mitigation
Time to use that assimilated space..for some bigger probes.......
So I did try SNW pike / uhura / 5 on level 33s and only got 1/2 the nanos I normally get. I have a T8 vidar and I run SNw pike/ uhura/Hemmer for full synergy and SNW laan below decks to get more cargo. I can fill up the cargo of 400k before dying. High below deck makes it a bit faster as well.
I use 7 as captain with 5 for loot boost and 4 for increased cargo... full cargo every time
The most effective crew for the least amount of damage is snw pike, snw Uhura and snw Una with snw laan below decks.
don't forget to get Galenar below decks.
Could we get Scopely to increase the cap on warp tokens so that we can grind once a week if we want to? Increasing the cap to 20 and the daily drip to 4 tokens could be an easy code change (as opposed to removing the token requirement altogether). This is a very old mechanic and there does not seem to be any point in rate limiting access to Borg systems aggressively, AND the grind needs to source 2 loops (not 1 like Bajor or Mantis).
Also making the observation that I think many of us would be burning more tokens than usual so the odd gift chest of a couple of tokens would be greatly appreciated.
So we just had a treasury event.. multiple days to get 700 points. at 100 points for getting dailies finished and 1 point for hostile kills. At the end of the first day I had 642 points. So - 100 for dailies means 542 hostiles killed. Is this a special effort on my part? Nope, I had no time for that. These points came from doing dailies, the SMS events, and the mantis and Borg grinds. No Exchange grinds, no Bajoran grinds. No work to place on the Heavy Hitter leaderboard event. No grinding for the faction rep. No work to level ships. Nothing extra. That is ridiculous, discouraging, and kind of leaves you feeling wrung out by the time you are done. There we have the numbers of hostiles easily shown by the point values.
I crewed with Goon (c), Euridyce and old Mudd to increase the critical chance for the current Heavy Hitter SLB. Good return for the Borg probes but you are gated by tokens.
thing rev should try NSW Pike Uhura and Hemmer as crew i still find thats the combo the let my ships survive longst and get out with the most cargo
7, 5, 4 with La'an on the bottom with an exo on 33s with a maxed Vidar.. Fast and maximum loot.
I wish "Cosmic Cleanup" had been available for lower levels as well.
Rev - where can I find the borg firing patters? have a level 35 account that has the maxed Vidar and a level 25 account with a tier 3 vidar and that would be really helpful. great information by the way
The only gripe I have with you, is you show these nice little charts. And have no link to them for us to download. your vidar crew chart, nice chart, no where in the description to download. It's not a big thing, but something I noticed you never do it seems. everything else is always good. I hate watching videos in general to get information, but most of the time you stay on point. thanks for your efforts.

Elite Cerritos kill probes event would be better if there were higher probes system as 33 are too low to also score in the lb part of Elite Cerritos event. The limit on Cerritos fuel gets to point you have to choose which event you want rewards more from assuming you are not willing to pay for more Cerritos stuff.
captain 7... 5+4 on sides for me... take home 697k no exos. Using capt 5, 4+stonn on sides now getting 815k with exos. Might take a swing at capt 2, 4+stonn with stacked exos to see if i can pull the max cargo at 915k.
Also a great run! the balance of loot vs hull survive-ability is something that's an easier decision as you level up. More research = less crew dependence!
I like 5,7,kerla, w/health stacked below deck w/loot borg officers too (cant remember its name lol)
Kerla because he's health based officer plus vidar is mainly a kinetic weapon ship, even tho i dont get as many kills come home with 30-60k more and in l3ss time per passcl because of how quick I die

as an idea for crewing videos: I would appreciate any information if those crews work already from the start (tier 1, lvl 1) or only after a certain level/tier (or if they need to be maxed)
I use 7(c) 5 9 with la'an below decks, I get 913k per run and about 1/3 hull left every time. I haven't tried an exocomp yet.
Another crew I would add to the list is 5 7 4 when using an Exocomp. Pike Uhura 5 fills my 551k with 40% hull left (no exo). I swap to 5 7 4 and get to 660k cargo but I can't fill without an exocomp.
I use SNW crew, full synergy with Una, but I think I will try 5 instead.
For me against 33 I was getting to full cargo at about the same time

Yup! This was more directed at 25-33s and those getting into it. 4 is still so tough to source, and research in the 40s REALLY makes those 33s a cakewalk

the crew shards for borg are so hard to get scopely should make it easyer so we can have borg shards on a daily basic
@rev deuce You should try Harry Mudd, rare Beverley crusher, and harrison. This crew fills my vi’dar cargo at over 700k
and that’s without the exocomp
also you could go with a synergy officer in place of beverley crusher to increase mudd’s chance to increase shield mitigation. it works just as well.
I use full synergy with snw pike(CPT), snw hemmer, snw uhura on ter 8 lvl 40 vidar; 650k-700k nano prob, just shy max cargo of 722k

I use 7 with 5 and 6 and get over 500k on less than half a hull on level 33s. My maxed Vi'Dar is 1.9mil power.
i just got 5 and i tried 579 and 759 and found i could get about 5 to 10k more probes per (tier 7 vid hull)i know this depends on the lvl of my officers but still, with 5 on captain, i did slighty better .
7/5/4 is my favorite. 125% exo is easy to come by and I can get more loot per hull with 4 than SNW crew. Thanks for the video! I do take issue with your one size fits all approach. There is a dramatic difference in META depending on: what tier is 5? what tier is SNW Uhura? do you have the ship skin? are you running the exo?

@@RevDeuce you’ve been doing that a lot lately. Ever consider a second channel for the grizzled veterans? You could even just do a short after each video with a couple of notes for higher level FTP and krill (ops 41, S41 here). I know DJz adequately covers upper 40s and 50s. I kind of feel like I’m falling into a gap in content.
Doing well for my lvl (13m power, tri-locked, just jumped from 33 to 35). Took a break, missed SNW & ferengi arcs, so no Pike. Max Vidar at about 1.6m. Running 5,7 then 9 or Charv. Not going as well as I would like...

So for level 29 borg. Is it better to run Pike, Moreau, T'laan, or 8, 7 , 9? I've been running PMT because I seem to be able to hit more ships

Since recently getting the vidar skin, spike suhura 5/la’an, fills up way too easily.
Tested multiple crews, to try and make the cargo bigger (539.9k)
Also trying to keep 5 for the quicker grind.
Long story short;
54 t’laan/la’an fills cargo to 670k or so
Spike suhura 4(stonn) could work…..but would be slower without 5, so didn’t even try after 54t crew
Having said that, borg is one thing that needs to be tested for yourself, results can vary.
I think my t4 vidar way back before tier up, all upgrades, killed more of the same probes as the t5 naked. Weird but that’s what happened.
Quite often, when tiering up, or trying new level probes, test a few crews
are those crew charts you had at the 2 min mark online somewhere?

How does the Ent-E loot bonus crew affect this advice?
As a new player Baby Ops25 - Pike Moreau T'Lann works better than Chen. (as in your graphic too) - yet you repeated Pike Moreau Chen several times for it? Not a big difference but it is a noticeable one.
If you have the snw crew pike uhura laan there is no other reason to use any other crew unless you have 2 vidars and need a 2nd crew. Why would you pick his crew that won't fill your cargo every time.
Wait... what borg exocomps? I haven't seen them. And both leaderboards are still geared to the "WHALES" in the game. And Rev what is the best crew to get max cargo for the vidar. Also my vidar is maxed.

Anyone know if the salvaged refits that apply extra mitigation actually make much of an impact, not seeing a vid on it, they are available today in the store for 20.

29s take painfully too long for me. SNW pike/uhura/laan worked better than 7/8/9. 30s seem to be my sweet spot right now. (tier 6)
How about the crew for heavy hitter?
I do not have the prime cargo. I have the skin. My Vidar is 2.1mil
None of the crew suggestions work best for me. I am able to fill up(714k) using 7 4/5. My 7 is rank 4 and my 5 is rank 3.
No stat to stack with this loadout ...fill the entire lower deck with lower deck officers. Should cap your stat bonuses ...if not sacrifice one that is not beneficial (like Rutherford) and replace with an officer that bumps you up to 350% for everything.
