You don't hear him yelling: "Slow down! Careful! Watch out!" He doesn't need to beacuse he already took care of safety and the kid feels confident.
    Nice.

I have ordered my nephew a power wheels for his 4th birthday and I plan to modify and upgrade it as he grows so it he can still have great fun with it for years to come. Thanks again and I like that you have your child wearing a helmet as safety is first!

Low gear on 48v is same as second on 24 lol. All the gear box does is alter series vs parallel to the motors. Also both motors alway get power. The left motor on low get power first and what ever power is left over then goes to the right wheel. When weighted this is typically 60/40 to 50/50. Reverse works the same but reverse going to right then left.
When in high gear it sends full power to both independently. In high they are both getting max voltage and drawing max current.
In stock 550 motors the best power choice is 18v lithium no controller. Throw in some 775 motors and you can run 36 with 500w controller or 24b wo controller all day. The weak link then will be the gear boxes. Having a variable speed pedal or even a simple on dash potentiometer to dial up when moving or gradually flow down or better using a brake reduction controller will save the gear boxes. The Jeep isn’t really the best platform for this cause if the high center of gravity. If you really want to have some fun..
Use a best choice 12v vehicle and swap in the gear boxes from the fisher price. The best choice gears run at 8500rpm and the fisher price 7r boxs run you to 30k rpm. You can hit a best choice vehicle with power wheels gear box on factory motor with 24v and hit 20mph lol
It’s actually about the best all around setup. I’m about to get my one son a gas powered atv and my 2yo is ready for a full size vehicle his own. I’m going to get him the best products Jeep throw in the gears and from his brothers dune racer I’ve already got running on 36v and see if I can’t get her to spin up to 22-25mph before I swap over the 775 motors and leave it at 24v. Idk how people are getting past 24v in factory 550’s though. I hit them with 36 and they fry instantly. Starting in first for 18v then you to speed hit second in the fly and it will stop dead every time when hit by 36.
Anyone with toddler 6v vehicles you can hit them with 18v power tool lithium’s ass day and not hit them for some reason those 330 motors although less powerful disparate heat much better then the 550’s do.
36v wo controller for me has been a no go every which way I’ve tried it so far. I’m shocked you got 48v to even work for 2min tbh.. that said my kids vehicles at 18v run like this run does at 48 so I’m thinking that controller is taking a lot away from the motors.
You also have to be carful when exceeding 18v cause around the 40amp mark that factory pedal can’t take the current and can weld itself wide open. I’ve not seen or heard of this happening when using a 40amp in-line fuse or a controller. But I would not suggest anyone run more then 18v wo a fuse on any ride on vehicle. And with that not last a 40amp unless you put in a kill switch.
775’s with heat sinks, cpu cooling fans, break reduction and potentiometer of some sort wether in the pedal or manually controlled and you can hit these things with 36v all day wo a controller and run 15-20mph depending on the gear box ratio. The dune racer even at 36v has more traction the the plastic tires then even most factory 12v setups. This Jeep is dumb.. can’t even turn at just 18v. I’ve yet to have reason to put traction aids on the dune racer tires (which will destroy the gears much more often) might just break down and throw in an electric scooter motor and axle to get wide of those plastic gears and see what can be done with a chain and sprocket setup. If see 40mph on 48v from others this way when you no longer have plastic gears to worry about.

I’m not the guy who made the video but I’ve just added one 18v 4.0ah Milwaukee battery to my nephews car and it is plenty fast enough! You want to make it have useable power or else it will wheelie/flip over with the kid in it and that’s very dangerous. Even at 18v the car wheel spins and wheelies a lot which is wasting the power and isn’t very safe. Great fun though on grass.

Do you have the wiring schematic for the controller and the pedal? I am using ECS kit for my kids power wheels but your video is also worth a try. When you use your 24v lithium battery for this, did you measure how long the car can run before running out of battery? I assume you have either 4AH or 6AH for this experiment right? And also, how hot the the motors after the ride is over? I assume this is at low speed and not high speed then for the ride?

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  5 лет назад

I don't have the wiring schematics for this. But it's basically quite simple. The pedal has 3 pins (red, black, yellow) and it goes to the 3 pins on the controller. Power from the battery goes to the red and black cable on the controller. There's a yellow and blue cable on the controller and that goes to the motor. The pedal on the power wheel has to be pushed down and I used a zip tie to tie it down. And that's pretty much it.

The motor will burn out as it’s not rated for 36v, it’s for 12v. You can replace the motor with a 24v kit, as power wheels do come in 24v; so use that as a replacement part and step down the 36v to 24v with DC to DC step down converter. This will prevent the motor burning 🔥! Or use a 24v with a 24v power well kit, and don’t need controller or dc to dc converter; cheaper mod setup too!

Can use pedal bike tyres over the original plastic ones so it grips better but will transfer the stress to the plastic gears so they should be upgraded to metal gears

when 1 motor burns out you will have no low or reverse make low and reverse the motors are run in series that's how they cut the voltage and make it low speed highest parallel circuit

those motors are rated from 5 volts to 24 volts anything else will burn them up ...so your 48 volt works but in low gear which is 24 volts maxed out on the motors thats why they burn up going over the voltage....but you will get a longer run time that way just dont put it on 48 volt gear.

You can run 5s 50 C li po or 6s 18650 li on 30C.....without burning out the stock motor or plastic gears ( you will go through wheels)..You can use floor trim vinyl ( $2.50)...glue N screw to black wheels...it's just so the kids can do power slide
and donuts...You dont really want the rear wheels to grip....grip...
that's what prevent the plastic gears from striping....
I live in a collar sack too....it's like a little bumper car arena for the kids.
You dont really want them going over 10 mph...They're just kids.
It;s cheap and easy...and safe. The cars has more than enough power
with 5s lipo ( 550 motors are cheap $10...or you can get them out of old
portable vacumm at yard sales, thrift stores...ect for $2...ect.
If they crap out ( you could get another use power wheels for $50)
or purchase metal gears for $50 -ea...$80 total.
      OR....get a 1000 WATT 36v-48V brushed more for $75 ( esc and pedal included)
Or look for used TREAD Mills for $25...There's a BIG DC BRUSHED Motor in them..500watt at 36 v will be more than plenty for the kiddies.lol
      36v-48v controller is only $15....
If you're a cheap bastard like me...You can find used electric wheel chairs
for FREE or $25...there's 2-ea 200WATT- 350watt dc motors in them..
      It'll take 36V....
You can get 10" wheels at harbor frieght for $5 will fit it.
You could mess with the gear box...use sprockets from $5 thrift stores
kiddies bike to gear it back up...( wheel chair are gear to do only 5-6 mph)
350watt at 24V-36V will more than plenty or 5-7 year old.
Mount the crank sprocket to gearbox out put shaft...
then mount rear sprocket to a shaft or rear wheel hub.
It'll bring it back up to 10-12 mph.
Wheel chair motor has auto Brakes..They just need to be activate
      through a 12-24 power source
Or you can get 350 watt brushed scooter....get rear sprocket and
      chain...for razor e-100- 300...ect
For the older kids 15-18 mph.....They Need BRAKES and helmets.
You want to keep it under 20 mph....it'll go over 20mph..depending how
you gear it. The kids are light.....
So nieghbours wont freak out. The kids wont really hurt themsevles...they''ll know how to drive better than most adults...The helmets are mostly for SHOW
so other adults wont freak out...when the kids are driving around the block..
ect..You'll need a bike or electric scooter to keep up with the kids.
You have to go supervise them...mostly so other adults dont freak out.lmao
The 1000 watts brushed will pull them easy
Not great for power slide due to real go kart tires)..
but great for driving to park....in grass, up hill....ect
I did it to a 2 seater Porches..36V-40V is plenty for them on a 1000Watt motor.
use the WHEEL HUBS from wheel chairs.....so you can do LIVE axil.
4-ea....hubs....1 for sprocket...1 for dis brakes ( or you can just purchase go kart
      live axil kits)
You can use 13" wheels fro harbor freight...remove center bearings
drill bolt pattern to fit wheel HUB..for the 13" wheels.
You can also wack wheels...use it as FLANGE beaings ( for the axil)
to mount to the power wheels body....or you can get pillow block
      bearings....from industrial bearings supply.
Or....you can WACK a black and decker LAWN EDGER..
      There's METAL GEARS in it...already.lol

Plastic tire no good .... cut strips of bicycle tires out and screw it to the tires. Making a strip of rubber on each tire.. better traction for back tires and better steering for front tires. A two in strip of rubber makes big difference
