    VERSION 2.0 IS FINALLY HERE! - ruclips.net/video/rKsqH7F36lw/видео.html

  • @robertlane5022
    @robertlane5022 7 лет назад +4

    Asking around in forums someone gave me the idea. It'll be more costly but if you are snapping lcd screens (like i did) Try to find a laptop replacement lcd screen on amazon or ebay that doesn't have anti glare, then find a "universal" lcd driver board that has onboard power. I have priced the boards and they go as low as $10 on amazon

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      Actually not a bad idea. Problem is that I need a 19" screen and it needs to be 5:4 ratio. Not easy to find. I'm waiting for Craigslist to pan out, but if you've got a window thats 16:9 like the NZXT ones, i'd say do it.

    • @robertlane5022
      @robertlane5022 7 лет назад

      yeah i'm making a Frankin rig first to test it all out on. I belive the rig i picked up was a 2008ish hp pavilion so I have to cut a side window which really makes picking a screen easier

    • @robertlane5022
      @robertlane5022 7 лет назад

      Hit an odd issue. I found an AOC. Trying to use It's guts instead of ordering parts. Found the 5v and ground. When connected to the other board it's fine. When connected to molex the led power light comes on but no display. Any clue? Sorry if i'm annoying you. You are just the only person I can find who is actually messing around with it trying to get it as close to right as they can.

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад +2

      If you're using an AOC portable usb monitor, this is how you would set it up without a molex connector. Kudos to Chris Albee (Modsquito) for the image. bit.ly/2w3D7DE

    i think i would try the glue that is used in gameboy light mods or display repair because UV LOCA is just great but you need to be careful with your sidepanel becasue that is a strong bond

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  4 года назад

      I'll check out this UV Loca but weld on melts the plastics together. It's not a glue, it's much stronger than glue.

    FIRST! HA! Thank you for uploading these videos. Learn alot from them.
    Also Do you think putting mirror-surface vinyl wrap on the insides of the case instead of painting the insides of the case will help?

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      Ahh! You guys are too quick! 🙂. I'm not certain that reflective vinyl would work. It could shine light back against the motherboard, but the light will not fill the case evenly like a proper reflector would.
      Thank you so much for the compliment, i'm glad you enjoy the videos!

  • @Return_To_Sender

    Love it. My biggest problem that I ran into was where to stop on the LCD display. I wanted to take the diffuse layer off, but it seems I peeled TOO many layers off and was left with just a a clear display. Did you happen to remove your diffuse layer or just say fuck it and put more lights to counter it?

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      Thank you so much! In version 1.0, I removed the anti glare material, but left the polarizer on. The polarizing filter is necessary to make the display visible or otherwise you get a clear LCD like you found out. Luke from Linus Tech Tips did something like that in this video: ruclips.net/video/rjQWFM0lx30/видео.html

    • @yoursunnyPower
      @yoursunnyPower 7 лет назад

      5ive-7even "Clear LCD" without a polarizer would be nice for privacy: you can see it with RealD 3D glasses, while everyone else finds you staring at a blank screen. But this isn't useful for this side panel.

    • @Return_To_Sender
      @Return_To_Sender 7 лет назад

      I'm retarded guys, I smoke a lot of pot, and I meant the anti-glare material, but I accidentally removed the polarizing filter which caused it to be clear. lol I derped, but yes, how did know that you were just taking off the anti-glare and not the actual polarized layer? I tried my best to just take off the top layer, but ended up removing it all :(

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      The anti glare material should come off much easier by laying a water soaked cloth on it for a few hours. In the broken LCD I have, the polarizer had to be chipped off, similar to what Luke did. You can get a razor blade on one of the corners, you could feel the anti glare material come off easily, but the polarizer will take more work. I guess you have to feel for it. I almost took the polarizer off my first time as well, don't feel bad for derping around. 😃

  • @qebm

    Hi! Did you try to put a second acrylic sheet on the back of the lcd, with the leds along its corner pointing inside it?

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      +qebm No I left the LCD unprotected and edge lighting the acrylic would produce different results. Light needs to reflect off the inside of the case to make the effect work. I like your thinking though!

  • @migueltejada619
    @migueltejada619 5 лет назад

    This mod is too cool. My question is what about dust? has anyone come up with a way to reliably keep dust out from between the display / acrylic? If not I could picture it to be a pain in the ass to maintain

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  5 лет назад

      Currently working on a solution that requires a dust free clean room and sealing the LCD inside the sandwiched acrylic sheets. Easier said than done.

    Is there an LED strip that is shorter than 10 ft. I just don't want to spend about $40 on LED strips and end up only using 1 ft.

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  5 лет назад

      Amazon has mostly 16 ft (5 m) strips. You'll probably use closer to 2 feet or more to light it the way that I did. Not too many strips come in high density cool white either. I understand wanting to save money though. Maybe find other uses for it?

      Find a way for the LCD to "sit" in position with some locking mechanism on top to hold the LCD in place. Nothing permanent, incase you have to change out the LCD.

    So... I have a question. I heard that if you have an USB Monitor, it helps a ton because you can plug it in and you have power + videosignal. Now, is that only the case for USB 3.0 monitors? I saw a dell with 2 USB 2.0 plugs, do you know if that would work too? I don't wanna solder :I

    • @ImmodderNation

      @@ImmodderNation Thank you so much. I am now looking for a monitor and I wonder; Is it better to get a matte or a shiny one, is there a difference? Also, sorry if it may be a stupid question: when I soak the panel, how do I know which one is the front, and which side do I need to soak with the distilled water? Thank you so much for your time, you are really helping me out!

    • @ImmodderNation

      Matte or shiny doesn't matter. Matte just means there's anti glare on it. The part of the LCD that faces that outside that has antiglare. Good luck with the mod. When you finish, send me a link.

    • @ImmodderNation
      @ImmodderNation  7 лет назад

      Dell monitors sometimes have anti glare filters on them. You can remove them following my guide. My other bit of advice is to make sure the lights you use are cool white, not warm white. If you are able to adjust the settings, set contrast to maximum and turn up screen brightness. You may have to adjust your settings to get the best effect. White background inside of the case will also help.

      I used a molex adapter from a 12 mm fan and connected the power leads from the monitors logic board to the 5V (red) and ground (black) portions of the molex. To find out which wires are your power leads, cut the wires individually with the power connected until the LCD display turns off. The molex connector connects to the 4 pin molex cable on the PSU.
