      @@Ash05771 oh yeah for sure, I'm betting that a decent suit (obviously more than $50) plus tailoring will cost less than a expensive suit that looks equivalently good, but the premise of the video is too hyperbolic to be accurate

    I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a good tailor for a wardrobe. I’m 37 and have worn suits for far longer than I could afford a “nice and expensive one,” but I still needed it to look good. Here’s what I’ve learned:
    1. Don’t buy a $50 suit. That’s probably *too* cheap, and you’ll pay for it once all is said and done. But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find a cheap suit that looks good and fits well. It’s worth putting in the effort to visit a lot of stores and see which of their off-the-rack suits fit best.
    2. It’s worth spending the time to find a brand that fits you best before tailoring. The less tailoring you have to do, the better.
    3. Be careful about buying a suit one size too big and then just tailoring it down. There are certain aspects of a suit (such as the upper chest on a jacket) that cannot be changed. I have personally made the mistake of buying a 44L (I’m a 42R) and found out the hard way that no matter how much tailoring is done, it’s never going to fit right.
    For years, I wore the cheap Macy’s suit. I think the whole two-piece was like than $125. I didn’t even have to do much tailoring. I have worn even cheaper H&M suits and learned that the juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze.

      I should add, I am now fortunate enough that I can afford to have a lot of things tailored, and purchase bespoke and M2M suits. And arguably, they’re not “that” much better than the good-but-cheap approach I used for years. Im a goofy shape so tailoring has become a staple in the rest of my wardrobe overall.

    This trend of turning suit pants into high-waters that show your ankles is STOOOPID.

    Almost all your suits don't fit you properly, that's just being honest. You still look good regardless. You could look great though with a proper fitting suit.

    A $50 suit will never look like a $500 suit, they may have the same cut but the real difference is the fabric, you can't cheat that.

    Pants with a elastic waist band are way too casual for a suit, same with the patch pockets. I also recommend a Quarter Break or a half break because you want your ankles covered.

    tightening the suit up to be form fitting doesn't make it look good, if anything it does the opposite. the ideal is to create a streamlined, balanced silhouette that looks both comfortable and well structured

      Suits are meant to be tailored. When you buy any suit, first and right thing to do is to take it to the tailor.

    • @spaceageMrT
      @spaceageMrT 6 дней назад

      @@luapoo how much to do all that, wouldn't it be better to spend a bit more on a suit then get it tailored? I mean you do all but its still a cheap suit.

    • @luapoo
      @luapoo 6 дней назад

      @@spaceageMrT tailoring isn't as expensive as you'd think, also a lot of shops offer you to tailor your suit for free right after you buy it, in their shop. I don't get your point, if you buy cheap suit which doesn't fit like it should and you don't want to tailor it - stick to the sweats and hoodies
