I just spent 4 days camped out on the ice at Anvil. It was brutally slow. Only marked a few fish and nothing bit. You are a legend. I've been going through all of your laker content all day now wishing I was still out there. Maybe next time I go we could link up.
The bad part about these vids is it only shows the highlights. you hear me say on here that I had been skunked for 4 straight days at one part of the season and that’s the truth! It’s not great all the time! keep plugging away, switch locations, and try to find some active fish! Let me know when you come back this way.
Awesome video! I fished Flaming Gorge for the first time a few weeks ago, after watching all of your videos, and caught my first lake trout. Keep the videos coming man!
@@TrentWilliamsOutdoors1 we did I had a few hits my cousin put one on the ice and had one break his pole on the hook set good weekend for sure as of now I am planning on going up there on the 3rd of march for the weekend
@@eric1richards Water color from early on the year. We were further north on water that is usually already murky but with a little bit of runoff before the ice formed it turned it a bit more turbid. That paired with my dads light grey interior of his hut really makes it look green.
My biggest bucket list is catching a 15+ lbs laker through the ice! Drive 5 hours every other year from east Idaho to the Gorge, other years to Fremont or Bear lake!! Awesome job man followed you for a while and you know these fish!! Also great safety tips
Once you get in the tent with heater it hard to go back to the cold lol!! Great upload!! We fish fishlake it’s rare to see a 20lb laker but it does happen on occasion!! Going to buy a hoodie nice merch
@Trent Williams Outdoors Trent, Joe and I were going to go but he can't make it now. Still would like to head over either Sunday Monday or Tuesday. Pinged you through Ice Shanty...let me know if can be convinced to meet up!
Thanks SW. So hard to tell anymore how old they are. Nowadays, theyre seeing fish in their teenage years that are less than 30” long. That didn’t used to be the case. Definitely 30. Probably a lot older.
Crazy to see that other fish under the ice, I noticed when you posted it in FB. Crazy how big fish attract big fish in the column. Very cool video. Participation points in the rod giveaway 🎣
Awesome fish! Got to catch my first and both my boys caught their first laker there Bash weekend. Can’t wait to get back. Now I just need the right gear! 😉
picked up 2 HT enterprises med heavy 42" rods and have some 12# flouro. Our light rods can handle 20" bows so hopefully the pups bit on those. I will plan this trip as a pup control and if we get one over 10# a screaming good time.
Nice job Trent, since IDO is gone you need to fill the void. Are you fishing with Matt and the crew this weekend. I should have come down with them, but Bear Lake is fishing pretty good and isn’t nearly as far for me to drive. Keep up the great videos. Love watching how you tease the fish into a hit. Thanks for taking the time to film it. Jeff

I'm originally from.wyoming and never once have I stepped foot on the gorge to ice fish. It wasn't til this winter living in idaho did my husband take me out on bear lake to ice fish and I am now addicted. So look out flaming gorge we are coming your way.
Love that 20.17# at the 24 min mark. What a fight. I guess my normal Utah ice fishing lighter rods won't work. Do some use regular 5-6' rods? 1 fish like that would make a person's day.
Just depends. If they’re small trout rods then no they won’t work. It’s of course possible to land one with lighter gear but will stress the fish out. Also you most likely wouldn’t get a good hook set on one if you really tried to target them with lighter rods. You could use a full sized rod! Just would be tougher to land them…especially in a hut
Great video as always Trent. Went out yesterday with JBT (Giles) and I missed a big (?) fish twice. He gifted me an Aurora 48” rod which is super nice. I definitely need to upgrade the 20+ yo fish finder😂. Keep up the great videos!
That son of yours is a great dude! Yea the fish finders really can make it break a trip anymore. Makes me wonder if I’d have the patience to catch one without them! Did you guys land any?
@@TrentWilliamsOutdoors1 no just missed that one fish, JBT marked about 5. Can’t say we gave it our all cause we moved north and shallow to try to catch some pups or bows about 10. Turns out that sucked too😆

Good video, lots of really nice fish. The ice was sure singing that day.
Yes it was! I had a couple days it was really loud but, sadly, didn’t catch any fish so I had to delete that footage 😂
