It took me going to another country to diagnose my endometriosis. I suffered from severe pelvic and bowel pain and was told it was an ovarian cysts. I was told to go on contraceptives and even scheduled to have a diagnostic laparoscopy after I refused to accept that it was just a cyst causing this extreme pain. I had to beg my gynecologist for a for referral for diagnostic testing because she felt like my pain wasn’t real and that I was questioning her knowledge. I finally had enough and I saw a Cuban doctor and was diagnosed and given my options on the same day. I had bowel and digestion issues bad. They did both an endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out colorectal and gastrointestinal issues. Then the doctor himself along with a radiologist did my vaginal ultrasound and diagnosed me with endometriosis with bowel involvement. I left there was my diagnosis in hand all for less $200 US dollars. I had to suffer in the hands of incompetent US doctors for 8 months before being reassured by a Cuban doctor what my real issue was and that I needed surgery to remove the endometriosis from my pelvis and bowels. I got on a plane, left the country, saw 3 specialists in 2 days, had an endoscopy, colonoscopy, vaginal ultrasound, all my lab work, and meds- all for under $400 and jumped back on the plane and was able to make it to work the next day. Now I have all my diagnostic reports to show the doctor. Healthcare in America is a joke.

I can't understand how weight gain is a myth. I ate very little and took no other pills at the time of weight gain. I had lost a lotttt of weight and within 3 months of taking a birth control I gained 60+ pounds. I did not have an increased appetite either, so I'm sorry, but that's just crap. With 3 weeks of stopping the birth control and being put on a different one I stopped gaining weight.

Waiting around for ten years and then a laparoscopy to tell you what you already know is going on, is just Wrong wrong wrong!

I've been taking a progesterone only pill for two years and it has helped IMMENSELY. 90 percent of my symptoms are gone and I very rarely get a flare up and when I do, it's very mild. I have stage 3 and i'm glad this has helped, however, I do not want to be on BC for the next 20 years of my life. I desperately want to find a more natural method of keeping my symptoms at bay. I was diagnosed through LAP at 27 and have only had to have one surgery total, but I didn't know about ablation versus excision beforehand so unfortunately, I had an ablation surgery.

I couldn’t get back to see them and I’m in blinding pain. I knocked the insane amount of opioids, I have so many other health issues, so many issues, and I’m trying to sip vodka. There are so many side effects to many. I had no idea. I had high hopes about mini pill Visanne, I start taking them after laparoscopy, my doctor thought they have less side effects then Diperheline. But it just made bleeding constant for a month and formed new cysts after the surgery so I was urgently put on Dipehreline and it helped enormously and even shrinked two small cysts that prolonged bleeding on Vissianne formed in just 40 days. From other side effect mini pill caused headache, nausea and mood swings. Dipherline on the other side was a perfect choice for me for 6 months I was pain free and beside hot flushes and skin dryness I did not have more serious side effects.

I still have yet to find a contraceptive that doesn't increase my bleeding. I mean I literally bleed constantly and very heavy. So I had my initial laparoscopy and then a year and a half later did Lupron when symptoms were returning. Had a baby 3 years after that and then 5 years after Lupron I am doing it again since it helped the first time. Obviously wish I could find a better option since Lupron had so many other risks. But I truly believe the contraceptive route might just be impossible for me. I do want to try nuva ring as everything else has been a disaster. I so badly want to be on contraceptive as we do not want another baby and I know without it my disease will progress. But it's so frustrating. And when I speak to my doctor's you can tell they don't know why I react the way I do and don't have better options. 😩

Can you be on birth control pills and still get endo? I’m having all the signs of endo but been on birth control pills for over 25 years now. Symptoms started almost 1 year ago and have been getting worse every month now: heavy bleeding during my ‘off week’, very painful cramps and stabbing pain in my uterus and vagina, pelvic pain, disrupted bawl movements, bloating (looks as if I’m 6 months pregnant), need to urinate all the time, chronic fatigue, cysts on my ovaries… I had my first period 2 weeks before my 9th birthday!!
I have an appointment to see my gynecologist in 10 days.
Also I have NF1 so it could be something related to that too…

Wow finally something that's not just pro-birth control. The beginning sounds just like my experience. I refuse to try taking it again. Literally would rather just get a hysterectomy. I have multiple generic abnormalities that increase the levels of estrogen in my body. And I'm not gonna take anything that increases it more. It's a good idea for young girls with endo but I'm getting old now and I'm beyond that point and doctors need to realize there's a point where it might not help and just mask the issues as they get worse

    • @missophelie3781

@@missophelie3781 the menopause pill (in the US is called Orlissa) is something I haven't tried. My specialist said I could try different hormones but I told him I would rather just skip that and move on to the surgery. I am getting laparoscopy and a D&C hysteroscopy in 6-8 weeks, still waiting on the scheduling person to call me. I've heard Orlissa can cause really horrible side effects and also you can't take it longer than a year, usually. Recommendations are for 6-12 months. I don't really see the point in it especially because I have always had really bad side effects from hormonal treatments. I know it's not the same as birth control but I've always had a horrible reaction to that. My doctor thought so too and agreed on skipping that. I haven't had an MRI for endo but I've had a transvaginal ultrasound which showed intramural fibroids. They think I also have a rectocele which is really annoying, probably meaning I have some kind of internal prolapse. I think you should try whatever you think is best for you and don't give up if something doesn't work. I have been trying for years. I basically just live an active lifestyle and eat healthy (mostly vegetarian Indian food homemade) which helped reduce the bleeding significantly but the other symptoms only seem to get worse. Today is actually one of the worst days I've had in months from my endo. I legit am on the verge of going to the ER
