My father work for ABC television for over 30 years. There was a time where he was very sick and he had to stay home laid up. I’ll never forget coming home every day from school and watching General Hospital with him. Totally loyal to his net work I’ll never forget Bobby’s red hair and beautiful face she was a character that was real, and you could relate to. She always changed and grew, your work is unforgettable rest in peace love
I tell you, during this theme was the Golden Era for General Hospital. I can listen to this opening song all day. Just the memory of rushing home from school, just to catch remaining 30 minutes to see Sonny, Brenda, Robin, Stone, Jason, Emily, Lucky, Elizabeth and Nikolas. I miss the old school General Hospital. R.I.P Tyler Christopher "Nikolas Cassadine".
Just yesterday I've been watching some of the older episodes like the big one Luke and Laura wedding .when I was in middle ,high school would watch the soaps after school also would watch all my children one life to live ..
Considering when this open debuted, 1993, it was exceptional. Still one of, if not THE best, daytime openings ever. And this comes from someone who was not a GH viewer.
Quite honestly, I never watched. I stayed with my grandmother in the afternoons and she always watched NBC Soaps. But I know it had a huge following. Still fun to look back at these old openings and shows. You just don't see that anymore.
As I said, my grandmother kept it on NBC so I saw a lot of DAYS when I was a kid. Watching these GH opens I see there was a TON of crossover with GH/DAYS actors. I never knew that.
Memories and some golden ages of GH in these openings. I loved the one when they closed it with Luke and Laura, that was so cool when they debuted that opening.
Memories especially of these opening. I grew up and don't get a chance to watch it anymore. I catch it when I can. GH is one of the last iconic soaps. It must be protected 🥲
I've always loved this version of the General Hospital theme song (Faces of the Heart). Unfortunately, as of this post (December 2021), it's also sad to notice the number of performers in the show's opening credits who have passed away recently or several years ago. Thanks for posting.
Wow. I got CHILLS seeing some of these faces. LOVE this theme. A lot of characters I'd forgotten about and was happy to see in these openings. Brings back great memories.
Me too! I grew up watching General Hospital it was my mom's favorite show until she passed away 2 years ago but I'm 16 now and I watch this show everyday in memory of her!!
+JayTheAdviceGuy it's fine man! i just remember the good with her!! but I love this show so much!! ABC needs to put All My Children and One Life To Live back on there as well
I AGREE! They shouldn't have taken them off the air in the first place. Although I did like seeing the character of Todd Manning on GH so I guess it wasn't ALL bad. But they should bring em back!
+JayTheAdviceGuy I saw a article that they might come back next year! though it's a rumor so take it with a grain of salt... Would be nice if it's real though....
General Hospital needs to go back to this! I don't like this "modern" theme and honestly the show isn't what it used to be but I'll keep on watching. 3 generations of my family watch it.
I honestly do like the "Faces of the Heart" opening theme for "General Hospital" as it is more quiet and calming compared to the super aggressive and "in your face" opening theme they have used since 2012. However; I do like the revised "Siren" theme that was used from 2010 to 2012.
I will say it. "Faces of the Heart" will forever be my favorite GH theme. I listened to the track by Dave Koz and took the fact that this was used for GH and it was just pure heaven. When you get a chance, if you haven't already, listen to it. You'll love it!
I’ve been a GH fan for decades now Since first year Highschool (1979). I agree this truly is the best GH opener ever. From April 1, 1993 and with a few modifications in 2004 and 2010 it was used up until late 2012 early 2013 then they completely dropped. It’s been terrible ever since it’s 2023 now and It’s still terrible. “ Faces of the Heart” should have been left intact.
Loved it when they added Sonny to intro! 😍 And I'd forgotten what a perfect shot of Stone and Robin that was! 😊 Funny how the later intros show the decline of GH each time. There was nothing like GH in the 90s!!! 😃
Nah, I don't watch anymore. I stopped back in either 2005 or 2006. That was right around the time when Laura Wright became the new Carly. I wasn't feeling the whole Sonny and Emily thing either. It's just too weird now. I did watch a few episodes when Brenda came back a few years ago and she and Sonny got married. And I watched the 50th Anniversary special because I knew some of my old favorites would be back.
Tiffany Waldon Yeah that whole thing with Sonny & Emily creeped me out too! Brenda's returns always bring me back to not missing a show. I've never felt Laura Wright was right for Carly. I hated when Tamara Braun left. She & Sarah both returned in 2014. BTW, Luke's gone but Laura's back full time now. #GH
Right! I have never been a fan of Laura Wright as Carly! Nothing against the actress, because she was great on "Loving" back in the day, but I'm a true Brown/Braun Carly fan! And I did RUclips Luke's final scene with Sonny. Nothing's the same (sniffle, sniffle). Lol
Tiffany Waldon I never saw "Loving" as I was just a baby. lol but yeah, I wouldn't say its the actress either in way but the way Carly's been written since she took over the role. Guza, who was at GH when Laura got there in 05 tried to hard to make LW's Carly more like Brown. Problem is, Sarah acting(even as Claudia) brought fire to GH like no one else could & has since. Tamara was really sweet but knew how to be tough in the role. / I think Luke's final scene should've been with Laura or (Bobbie - whom he shared his first scene with) but considering Tony doesn't want anything to do with LnL or Genie nowadays, I'm not surprised that didn't happen. *sighs*
While I'm not a fan of soaps I remember as a little girl walking into my living room seeing this playing my mom on the couch watching so this is apart of my childhood
Starting watching during 2:50. I remember Hurricane Carly blew into P.Charles w/some treacherous winds! Lol. The Cassadines were ruthless. I thought the young adult storylines were so good. Nick & Sarah. Lucky & Liz. I actually had the soundtrack CD! 😝 Loved the theme song. Anyone remembers Nick Cassdine & Sarah Weber’s theme? “ It’s just me loving you, loving me....” Memories. Went to college and lost track. Remember the crossover storyline with Sky Chandlier/ Antoinette with AMC? Last time I watched, Sonny & Brenda reunited in ‘03, and then I got closure and moved on with my life 😂
This truly is by far the very best Opening of the much celebrated 60 years, General Hospital . This was introduced first in April 1, 1993 and had been used with some minor modifications until 2012. I have never liked the opening from 2013 to date 2023. It’s terrible bland and boring!! I’ve been a fan of GH since 1979!!
They used to put some effort into the opening. I saw the current one last month and it's just a damn slide show. They didn't even green screen in a background! I've seen RUclipsrs put more effort into their openings!
I Love The General Hospital Themes Could You Find Me Some Edge Night Soap Opera Themes Starting From 1980-1984 Until They Went Off Of The Air LOVE THIS!!
I agree. I'm a new GH fan, and am blind so can't see the visuals, but the new theme stinks IMO. I would enjoy hearing this song as the opener, but whatever that is they play now needs to go ASAP.
I don’t care for the show but as a child my mother came home everyday at 12 noon to watch this. I grew up in Los Angeles and they had a jazz radio station 94.7 and they actually played the whole song. Great memories but now that radio station is a bit..murder
LOVE this opening 💕💕 They really need to go back to this. Any that came after doesn't even seem like GH... plus I think it would be a nice way to pay respect to all the we loved answers and characters that were on the show during this time and that were essential to GH history that they have seem to lost sight of and in the 2000s pretty much killed all all the historical families that were core to the show and kept these nobody characters very disappointing but I really do miss this opening and a lot of the characters that make GH the great show that it was but boy did they ruin it I mean how do you get rid of one of the most prominent family on the show the quartermaines?? I had to stop watching the end of the '90s early 2000s when you're in school full time college that is living in your own apartment not on campus a real one with a landlord and having to work full time it's hard to keep up with a soap. I don't know or remember how it popped up but I saw that Robin came back mid 2000s and I know of Jason Thompson who I love from The Young and the restless so I became interested because I was always a fan of Robin from the stone story line and I start watching clips of her and Patrick on here and I am completely hooked but on the flip side it made me see how the show really went downhill other than that couple basically and I'm glad I didn't try and squeeze in watching the show everyday because I really only watch the clips of them so sad that they have no respect for the history that they made the show one of the greatest at one time is pretty clear since it's only one in four left out of all the soaps that used to be on the air I just miss the way it used to be definitely have no interest in watching the current show though especially since Robin and Patrick are no longer on but thank goodness people are kind enough to upload clips of their story and I do enjoy seeing all clips from the 90s when the show was at its peak
redsoxgirl1201 - Anna wasn't on the show at this time. She left in 1991, these credits debuted in 1993 and lasted until 2004. It would have been fantastic to have Anna and Robert in these credits, they are such iconic GH characters.
IMO GH was great from 1982-2007 when Georgie Jones was murdered. When Kristina Wagner came back as Felicia even after her real divorce from Jack Wagner. Kristina's always been my favorite since 1985. Kristen Storms as Maxie has had some cool storylines. I missed a lot of Felicia & Mac while in college and working. Not so great now.
I think this was the best one GH ever had. I noticed how the characters of Ed, Lila and Mac were the only ones never bothered to update their poses over the years.
Robert Scorpio, Anna Devanne,Lee and Gail Baldwin and Frisco Jones, Lesley and I think Rick Webber are probably the most significant characters I can think of to never have appeared in these intros although all of them appeared at one time or another during this era
My father work for ABC television for over 30 years. There was a time where he was very sick and he had to stay home laid up. I’ll never forget coming home every day from school and watching General Hospital with him. This tune can’t ever be removed from my memory. Still I love it until this day!! Makes me miss past times
I bought a portable hard drive with all the episodes from the “faces of the heart” era. By far the best years of this beloved soap opera.

Happy 60th Anniversary To GENERAL HOSPITAL
Bring back this opening. It’s my favorite opening theme of any soap.
It’s too expensive to bring back.
That had to be the opening for the 90s
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻Best opening
They have to fit another 30 second ad instead
Bring. It. Back. For. The. Love of. God.
Just yesterday I've been watching some of the older episodes like the big one Luke and Laura wedding .when I was in middle ,high school would watch the soaps after school also would watch all my children one life to live ..
2:40 is my nostalgia...when I began to watch the show with my parents as a 90s kid! Happy 60th!!! 🎉
Man this brings back great memories! GH in the 90's was the best!
Brings back memories of me and my grandma watching this. I miss her.
This show helped pave the way for shows like greys anatomy, scrubs, the good doctor etc.
not exactly but nice try
General Hospital was only a real medical soap in the 1960s. The stories stopped being medical focused once the show found true popularity.
+Krista Thomas i record the good doctor every Tuesday night to watch the next day and fast forward the adverts
Considering when this open debuted, 1993, it was exceptional. Still one of, if not THE best, daytime openings ever. And this comes from someone who was not a GH viewer.
Either of you still watch nowadays or nah? If not, when'd you stop?
Quite honestly, I never watched. I stayed with my grandmother in the afternoons and she always watched NBC Soaps. But I know it had a huge following. Still fun to look back at these old openings and shows. You just don't see that anymore.
airpiedmont It sure is and you don't & likely won't. The 90s was the last great decade for daytime TV
As I said, my grandmother kept it on NBC so I saw a lot of DAYS when I was a kid. Watching these GH opens I see there was a TON of crossover with GH/DAYS actors. I never knew that.
Nah, stopped watching it in 2003. To be honest I am a Sonny-Brenda-Jax and Lois-Ned fan.
That intro from the 90s, so many childhood memories associated with that theme.
My moms use to watch this show back in the 80s, the song just made me think about her and wishing she were still here with me.
Yes it brings back so many memories
I've always loved this version of the General Hospital theme song (Faces of the Heart). Unfortunately, as of this post (December 2021), it's also sad to notice the number of performers in the show's opening credits who have passed away recently or several years ago. Thanks for posting.
They made it look more suspenseful.
Seeing SJB as Carly on those openings total nostalgia

I started watching General Hospital recent yrs I was always a Days fan
Back when I watched..I liked Days, One life to live, and General hospital. I never could get into all my children.
This was awesome! My fav is when at the end the whole male cast is in tuxes and Luke stands up and walks away 💜 And damn! Greg Vaughn as Lucky 🤤🤤🤤
General Hospital needs to go back to this! I don't like this "modern" theme and honestly the show isn't what it used to be but I'll keep on watching. 3 generations of my family watch it.

The sax of this music intro gets me every time! They were the best soap intro of the 90's.
Faces of the heart- Dave Koz 🥰🥰
Jazz is the most underrated music
I will say it. "Faces of the Heart" will forever be my favorite GH theme. I listened to the track by Dave Koz and took the fact that this was used for GH and it was just pure heaven. When you get a chance, if you haven't already, listen to it. You'll love it!

Oh yes I have Spotify and “Faces of the Heart” is definitely on my playlists. God Bless Dave Koz and his Saxaphone magic❤️👌😊
I remember coming home from school as a kid and watching this with my mom, I never understood the story but I loved the theme song
My favourite era of GH: Brenda, Sonny, and Jax triangle. Those were the days!
This song played on Pandora today and I was jamming!
Love how Helena Stavros and Stefan were regular cast characters at one point.
Stefan was on contract for years before he left the show
I wish they would find a way to do it again
lol During Endgame
I wish they have all the seasons on Hulu
Too bad they had over 13,000+ episodes
Listening to the song n seeing the ppl again, Im loosing it. I miss them the song n the 90s
One of the best daytime openings ever made!!!

Beautiful sax music!
I love the saxophone playing so awesome
Dominique Ware That's Dave Koz
Very beautiful
Me too😍🥰
Faces of the heart- Dave Koz. They used his song
I started watching around the opening of 4:50, and that song is STILL stuck in my head. Love it so much =D
yeah me too my friend I loved this music intro I still have that music inside me
Same!! U still tune in nowadays or nah? lol
JJ Best yeah
The 1990's sure loved their saxophone, didn't they?
Not that I'm complaining~

Poor Mac! LOL
Michael Hutchins lol yes he did
MAC IS YOUNG HE NEVER AGES
LOL
@@default4936 He's the best looking guy on the show.
Nothing against Laura Wright but Sarah Brown as Carly in the 90s was STRAIGHT FIRE. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love Laura wright!! But Sarah Brown🔥🔥🔥
Laura Wright she’s the best Carly to me.
@@deannapeppers-deberry3196oh Laura Wright is definitely!🔥🔥
Mac has never changed his picture lol everyone else did though! To Funny!!
CrystalFairy89 I thought the exact same thing.
CrystalFairy89 - kind of shows you how little they must have thought of the actor/character.

It was my favorite opening song out of all soaps. And my favorite soap
Mark 2:40 was THE era. THIS is the only theme song I'll associate with GH. Classic.
OMG...SAME!! 🏥 #GH
Mac was the dude back in the day
He still is, and he's the best looking guy on the show.
Welcome to GENERAL HOSPITAL
Faces of the heart the best!!!! Timeless!!
Back then when GH was so decent than right now...
Feeling so old..
GH was the best soap ever until Lynn Phelps took over in the early 2000s. It never recovered.
Y&R kinda went back to their original opening. It's just updated. I really hope they update this one and bring it back. This current one is...lacking.
I love this it's 2015 & very soon it will be 2016 & I will still listen to this great music/theme then so ..... who is with ME on this!!!!! :D
I used to watch that show all the time I miss seeing it
They used to put some effort into the opening. I saw the current one last month and it's just a damn slide show. They didn't even green screen in a background! I've seen RUclipsrs put more effort into their openings!
HERE HERE
It’s so boring I really miss when they did the opening with the song in 2005
버젼마다 노래가 달라지네요..
하지만 변함없는건 노래 그 자체
The face of heart by Dave Koz🥰
Every Time I hear this tune it brings tears to my Eyes love Luke Laruia
My favorite daytime couple..Sonny and Brenda 🥰...Loved those two
The current opening in 2020/2021 is an embarrassment. Can we PLEASE get this classy opening back?
It’s so boring
Shawn, if you didn't put your name next to your post, I would've thought I wrote it! Yes! A complete embarrassment!
Best intro!!

I loved this opening, when Luke and Laura came back, and that shot of them when they were still on love and happy.
Amazing how many of these characters and actors are no longer with us 🤔RIP
Gah! Sonny/Brenda/Jax, one of the best triangles in daytime HISTORY!
Love this opening!

They should bring back this theme song, it's a way more better then the current one.👍
bring back this theme song for GH it was the best
damn right my friend I've always loved this General Hospital theme
They won't. they can get another 30 second commercial in.
I personally dislike the 2017 opening of GH and I wish they would go back to the colorful and musical opening with the new characters and sonny!
I agree. I'm a new GH fan, and am blind so can't see the visuals, but the new theme stinks IMO. I would enjoy hearing this song as the opener, but whatever that is they play now needs to go ASAP.
They don't have the budget to make an opening like this. Don't you understand that daytime soaps are on the way out?
When this came on it meant I couldn't talk to my mom for the next hour😂
Same here lol
Sniff.... brings back memories
i miss these days
I'm big fan of You General Hospital All Episodes my fan favorite Nicklaus
