Poor Cindy always sacrificing for the video, having to run ahead or stay behind to get those great shots. But it's nice to see that not only is she great behind the camera, she great behind the wheel. Great job Cindy showing Eddie how it's done.
Trials riders have to select the proper gear for any given obstacle, so it stands to reason the safest bet is to select the gear first. I’m thinking this is what Jeep intended. Glad you figured it out, it’ll be a great help for a lot of your RUclips followers. That’s your experience kicking in. Nice Job Cindy
I think its a safety feature to work with the clinometer. When the angle of the jeep is too much it cuts power to prevent rolling on its back. Having the 8-speed with really short gear gaps it can easily shift up making the situation worse that could potentially lead to rolling on its back. Putting it in manual eliminates that "cutting off power" as it stays on the same gear so the jerking feeling on a gear change does not occur. I'm not really sure but that's what I think the system is doing. It's a good thing for the 2 door as they have a short wheelbase which is less stable.
Man I had to add another comment I'm sorry , that Dynatrac "JL". Unbelievable!!!! Jsut drooling over it!!! Absolutely amazing build and yours are crazy impressive too! In late 2007 I bought a Sema 2007 Rubicon Built JK by Badlands Off-road, it was one of the very first JK's really built extreme , was on 42" Parnelli Jones Dirt grips, custom crazy 6" long Arm from BDS, custom bumpers and armor all the way around custom fender quick disconnect which I still think they should have mass produced, was amazing to pop them off all 4 in 30 seconds. A custom prototype from Atlas Engineering that was a mod allowing the lockers of the Rubicon to be able to activate in any setting, 4 hi, 2 hi , etc, in the mud and snow it's amazing running both diffs locked in 4-hi. The first custom tire carrier holding a 42" spare which was awesome and looked insane . 5.38's , brake upgrade , custom full cage which isn't crazy by today's standards but back then was epic, milemarker Winch with custom in cab controls and A 48" stinger! It was a blast to own and where there weren't many 4 doors in public period , not to meantion a Sema build 4 door on 42's it'd get cameras sticking out the car windows anytime I took it out! Was so much fun to own! Best part and craziest part was I "won the lottery" of sorts somehow and was in the auction on eBay to buy it and for some reason they listed the auction weird or wierd time or maybe being the Jks were so new maybe people were scared to buy a highly modified jk? But I was THE ONLY bidder on it, auction started at $21,000 no reserve , my bid of $21,000.01 was the only bid in the 3 day auction and won the auction and they held to their word and sold it for that. The Rubicon with 12,000 miles was worth a lot more than that alone and the fabrication and one-off parts were so insanely new and crazy it was a dream to own. I regret selling it all the time, kept it 2 years without a single issue, and sold it for $32,000 on eBay 2 years later which shows the auction was a flop when I bought it. Point is , seeing how far the new jeeps have come is crazy! They are amazing and these new builds by Dynatrac pushing the builds beyond even Jeeps own Sema vehicles is crazy! What an amazing passion! I regretfully built my first Toyota 4Runner into an expedition build , over $20,000 in custom parts and I will say only that it's now for sale and going back to a Rubicon. There's no comparison! Also your new '19 rubicon's you won are freaking gorgeous! The cutout issue is a huge concern and hope they work that out immediately. Was in Moab 3 weeks ago (I live 3 hours north) and power cut out at hells gate or any number of even small obstacles like little lions back could be very dangerous and fatal even. They will have sown serious lawsuits on their hands if they don't take that seriously, id report it to jeep corporate and get yours to the dealer to get it figured out.
The best videos ever on RUclips guys I have enjoyed them for years keep it up please I love seeing outwest wheeling being from KY it looks great out there
“We tried to keep everything as factory as possible.” Says the guy who can’t even look over his bed rail while he’s standing next to it 😂. Awesome Jeep 👍.
Thanks for the tip for manual shifting to overcome obstacle! Great video as usual. One day, I will do this trail also, in the mean time, I will do with the snow in Canada! 🇨🇦👍
Haha! I hate the mud also. Because guess who gets to clean the jeep after... And that weird "feature" that killed your power on that climb is not cool! Keep us updated on that, as i'm sure many JL owners will want to know if that can be turned off. Not good at all, that could be real dangerous!
The jk Rubicon Hard rock I traded for a jl Sahara for that reason because if you got stuck in mud or snow if would cut power and the lockers never helped because you had no power to move the wheele and it only worked in 4 lo witch I never once put it in. The jl Sahara dose not cut out at all a lot better the a Rubicon in my opinion and less money
Yeah I'm not a fan of mud either. It gets all up in your engine compartment, all over the radiator fans, and I've known people to get mud rocks stuck in their brake pads causing a nasty squeal. Give me dirt and dry rocks to climb any day! I'm betting the throttle/transmission problem is a "kink" on the JL that Jeep will work out sooner or later.
Alex Ouellette you can’t engage lockers in 4hi without connecting directly to the ecu, also the jk doesn’t have the issue he was showing different transmission.
Hate to be THAT guy, but back in the day when I put a TH400 in a CJ behind a built SBC, it never occurred to me to crawl with the shifter in D. Typically had it in first gear and let the torque converter do all the feathering for the most control, and not letting the gearbox decide what gear I should be in. So much more elegant than fighting the shifter and clutch on a manual. Anyway, loved that Code 1 LJ/JL.
Love your videos, can't wait to get back out to Moab ourselves. We are going back out for a month in September and we are excited by your videos. Keep up the great work.
Great videos! Sounds like that the power cut could be a safety feature, possibly for anti skidding/hydroplaning or something like that, so instead of the engine running while the wheels have no traction it just shuts off for a sec to prevent loss of control. But that's just a guess
Not 100% sure why it happens but it sucks when it does. Hopefully, people will be able to learn from our video about what they should be doing to prevent it from happening to them.
I experienced that power problem with my daughter's new gladiator in the sand dunes.had to lock it in 1st and wide open throttle. I think I'll stick with my o6 LJR.
Thanks Tony, it was good to have you and Steph out there with us if only so that you can save my ass LOL! Hoping to get out on the trails with you two soon again.
If I’d won the lottery I’d tell them name your price for that Jeep at the end, only think I’d have them change is putting the rear tire back on the tailgate, to me that makes a Jeep just like the front grill.
7:18 have you tried pressing and holding down the ESP botton for 5 seconds? I hear it turns off ESP and traction control. Might help... And if all else fails, get you a M/T.
Just a thought, I wonder if when you had “drivel selected and you given t a decent amount of throttle, with the amount of wheel spin the transmission probably tried to shift into 2nd gear. Not sure if that’s what actually happened but could be an idea as to why it did that
Do you think that the “Loss of Power” thing is part of the traction control system? Keep us updated on what you find out. By the way, any day in Moab (rain or shine) is a good day. Lots of beautiful Jeeps. I esp liked seeing the Dynatrac vision for a customized JL.
After talking to the people I know at Jeep, I don't think so. It seems to be a transmission related issue but again, only when in Drive. It doesn't happen in manual mode.
Gotta admit... Cindy cleaning up when you were Stuck was pretty Cool! She seemed pretty Humble... Nice to know in the Future if Stuck, you have the Tow Strap, the Winch, and when really Stuck.... Cindy! PS Awesome Video again! :)
Could be your "directional stability control" system (or whatever Jeep calls it....basically your anti-skid system...causing you the problems with power being pulled. System thinks your skidding and then pulls the pwoer. Check the manual on how to disable it.
I had a similar problem with my TJ with it slipping out of gear in my automatic transmission going up a steep obstacle. I am running 35s and used to have 3.73 gears in it and then i regeared to 4.88s and the problem disappeared! I think the transmission was in 1st gear and wanted to shift into 2nd and the engine doesnt have enough RPMs to shift so the transmission clutchs dissegaged, it totally cut all my power. But now with the new gears the transmission knows the true speed the tires are spinning and will hold in 1st or second gear and not try and shift.
The problem we were having is a programming issue. There's some kind of rev limiter that kicks in only when you're in 4LO and drive. The problem does not occur when shifted into manual mode.
Some newer drive by wire vehicles will cut the throttle back if it sees vehicle speed, brake input and throttle input at he same time. Called brake override. Could be possibility.
I'm sure jeep will release a re-program eventually for either the transmission control module, engine control module or possibly both if and when they can determine what the cause is for that issue. But it needs to be known that no matter what brand vehicle it is they can't get every bug worked out of a new vehicle model for the very first year. That's why propel have more problems out of the very first year of a vehicle than later years. Just report the issue to the dealer where you purchased the vehicle from so they know it's happening and can help diagnose the cause.
I actually spoke with people that I know at Jeep about this later on in the week and they explained what I had already figured out, that I just needed to be in manual mode.
It is super loud and annoying when it comes on but it isn't too often and I'd rather it come on than not. Just means it's cooling things off. Glad you've been enjoying our videos for quite some time.
Once again, a very nice and informative video answering many questions we have about the JL off-road. For this trip you put a few pavement miles on the JL. With 37s/4,10/auto what was the hwy manners like? Did you get into 8th gear? With your setup how well do you think it would do towing a small 3klb trailer?
Highway manners were great! As I mention in Part 1, we pretty much did 70-80 MPH all the way out and back again and crossed multiple mountain ranges along the way. Unlike our JK's, the 3.6L motor had plenty of power and we still managed to average 15.5 MPG and that's INCLUDING a week worth of low range crawling in Moab. The transmission was mostly in 6th or 5th depending on the wind any only got to 8th on descents. I think it could pull a small trailer way better than the JK could ever hope to.
Hey in the first part you inspected the rear tire afterwards and noted no damage to the tailgate, same outcome this time? Also any idea where to buy one of those stingers? I can’t seem to find one using a google search. Thanks
No damage what so ever after an entire WEEK of wheeling like this. We've seen what causes damage to a tailgate like what you've probably seen and even have video of it when it's happened on a JK in the past. Carrying a big spare alone will NOT cause damage to a tailgate SO LONG AS you mitigate the things that will damage it. You can have a trailer hitch shop make one for you and it'll only cost about $30
Seems to be a similar issue with my nissan. It has VDC "vehicle dynamic control" Basically when the vehicle loses traction the vdc kicks in and kills power and the active braked lsd limits drive (car just bogs down). I can turn it off but it doesn't fully turn off and is a real pain especially on sand.
The first JL bug. Have u got data back to Dahmer Chrysler? Be nice to get them checking on it before someone gets hurt. When you ran into the Jeep test mules did you happen to ask them about it?
Jeep is actually owned by FCA now but yes, we made sure to let the right people know about it while we were in Moab. For now, the problem can be addressed simply by being in manual mode.
Another awesome video .. re transmission problem on my XK Commander if we press and hold the traction control for button 10secs it switches off the traction control completely .. just a thought
Did you re-gear your axles? Because that would be your loss of power issue. It happened to me when I lifted my Toyota Land Cruiser and put 37s. I would get to the top of an obstacle and I would lose power.
As always...awesome! How's the white paint of the grille holding up bud? I've heard multiple issues with them fading yellow...im holding out till FCA fixes the electrical gremlins, crappy frame welds, non working U connect, non working rear defroster....ect till I throw down my good money.
I dunno, I have an early build and so far, my grill still looks very white, my frame welds aren't outstanding but they aren't horrible, can't say about U-connect as I have yet to try it.
ok. seems you have the "sock in the throttle body" feature enabled. as my foot wasn't on the gas, i will assume you hit this magical dead spot at the crucial moment, and there you sat. there is a solution. jeep seems to have a problem with the "Tip In" on the acceleration, just coming off idle. there is a hole on my JLUR tip in map probably about the same place you have one. i found the fix by accident. my stereo guy in huntington beach is a distributor for PedalBox. the distributor is local. it's a plug in dongle that goes on the accelerator pedal potentiometer. it remaps the curve of the tip in, from three toed sloth, to AA/FX. there are four ranges, and each one has six levels. so essentially you can pick which of 24 tip in profiles works best for you. including softening the tip in ramp. i suspect it might be useful where you don't want to break traction. i figured it was bullshit, but tom at beach autosound said "try it. if you don't like it, we will take it off." it's still on the jeep. YMMV. it doesn't remap anything in the ECC. just re profiles the off idle response. you can adjust it on the fly. they say not to do it on the fly, but it works fine. $250. a JLUR has a part number of Article-NO: 10723706 9717105007
Another great video, keep it up! Quick question - I hear the fan running pretty loud. Does it do that all the time while wheeling or only on occasion? I would think that would be annoying or do you get used to it? My 2013 JKU never did that and it might drive me nuts.
It only happens on occasion and mostly when you're in 4LO. Never did this on any of my JK's but then, I kind of wish it did with my 2012 which could heat up at times.
@@wayalife Thank you. I had kept watching last night and saw the video at the 2019 ejs where one of the people ran the bone stock jl on the triple threat and I was enthralled I have to go some day.
How much different would you say the ride quality on tarmac is after putting the big wheels as compared to the stock wheels ..also as compared to a JK wrangler on tarmac..
A stock JL has load range C BFG AT's and they are very comfortable. Our range E tires are a bit firmer but not horrible. The JL stock is way nicer than a JK.
I just bought me a 08 sahara unlimited, I want to install lockers was told that 1500 an axle. Do you think id be better off find rubicon axles instead or just building current axles? Thanks for your time
The rear axle in your Sahara is good and that'd be worth building up but the Dana 30 up front is not. I'd recommend replacing it with a Dynatrac ProRock 44.
Probably depends on what you're hoping to do with it. If you keep it somewhat stock, the JL is what I would get. If you're going all out, the JK has a lot more stuff available for it now.
OK thx as I see a lot of jeep video your seem to be more information about your jeeps I still like to come out there as I'm from Ontario Canada keep up the great video 👍
Quite for an M/T especially when compared to some but compared to something like a Toyo, you can definitely hear them a bit more. Far from anything close to a Nitto Mud Grappler though :)
8:41, you can totally see your wheels just stop spinning for a split second. That is sooooo weird. Interesting as I got further in the video I heard where you said manually putting it in 1st seems to fix it. It has to be a transmission thing, maybe some new "feature" or "technology" in these new auto trans that is not exactly doing what they thought it would. I wonder if there will be a recall. I also wonder if it's an electronic issue with the transmission that can be fixed from a CPU re-tune at the dealer.
Great video, but I will say that its always a good idea to manually select a gear when off road and not have it in "Drive" The driver should pick a gear based on the obstacle. You as the driver have a better idea of what gear you need to be in and not let the vehicle choose for you. It gives you more control.
While this is true and I would agree with you, I have NEVER experienced anything like this on ANY of my other Jeep. Clearly, the answer to preventing this from happening is to be in manual but the power cut out should not be something that happens - period. At least, in my opinion anyway.
You know that the 4RLE trans starves at a drastic climb angles. Overfilled my JKU by 1/2 a Quart to stop that on Metal Masher climbs. Maybe the JL suffers the same problem.
Good thought but I don't think that's it. Problem happened even on something small like Mirror Gulch. Problem also can be prevented if you're in manual mode.
watching a few of your videos with the new JL and Wow that throttle control feature is ugly. One has to wonder when this is going to cause the first major accident. Hopefully driving in manual really is the key to stop this throttle control.. I have found I drive off road using a manual method anyhow. More control. We saw your group on the trifecta trails on Wednesday. you guys passed us on the overlook of Golden Spike while we ate lunch and then we passed you up again when you guys stopped for lunch. How far backed up did you guys get due to the Golden Bar waterfall jam? Crazy jeep jam.. we we're lucky as we we're just behind the group of Willy's who actually had to wait also, so although they didn't start the delay at the rock slide they did add to it. we were stuck behind them in several areas and even though they made delays they were fun the watch.. they could have let us pass them in several areas but never gave us the option..... thanks for the videos and hope you figure out that throttle control feature.
Just spit bawling here, might want to check with Jeep if they have put a torque sensor in the new diff set up on the Jl to save on breaking axles driveline parts and it’s cutting the power which might be override in manual mode, could have to do with the extreme angle and the and the weight shifted back and the front end being light, I know in the atv world manufacturers are doing it to save on cv joints in the front locker engagement set up, one other thing, again just thinking outside the box, even with the traction control off they may have one last fail safe to save driveline parts but is again override in manual mode, to me it seems to be a sensor issue, being in the diffs part of the traction control in the new transmission again with extreme angle it senses a pressure loss or spike cutting the power, could be a hundred different things with everything control via the computer these days, and if it doesn’t do it in manual mode it must override the sensor, just my two cents I’m not saying I know this vehicle or have a good grasp on how all this stuff is controlled on todays generation of vehicles, again just thinking outside the box, as I’m planning on buying a new JL rubicon and just curious what the issue is.. again awesome footage love what you and Cindy do.
I've been trying to talk to Jeep about this but so far, they don't seem to think it's a problem. So far, their answer to me has been that I need to be in manual mode when wheeling LOL! What I'm hoping for is that a video like this, one that really shows what happens will do a better job of getting their attention.
Wayalife Thanks Eddie, talked to my dealer here in Canada to today also and they were unaware of any issues, a question for you then, when in manual mode will the transmission still upshift to protect against over revs or just hit the governor. You might know this too, does it occur in both high and low range or just low?
I’m guessing you were in 4 high when the Jeep shut down on that ledge climb? Our jl has almost got me stuck twice when I forgot to turn off the traction control by killing all power. I get it, government safety mandates, but not in 4 wheel drive.
You can guess that but you wouldn't be correct. I was in 4LO but NOT shifted in manual mode. I have since made sure to always be in manual mode and have not seen this problem since.
No. It will not. The issue is that the transmission wants to shift into a higher gear. Being in manual mode will prevent that from happening. I have talked to my friends over at FCA about this and they have confirmed this.
LOL!! The JK still looks great. If anything, I hate how the JL looks way too much like a JK or at least from a distance. What you got is a good Jeep - enjoy it :)
Turn off the traction control going up the rocks and it will rectify the governing effect. I own a 16jk hard rock auto and have to do this process or traction control takes over when I'm crawling. Truly annoying but a tradeoff I'm willing to take so I only have 2 peddles to worry as I traverse the obstacles.
Sorry, don't think that's the problem. NEVER had this problem on our JK's nor have we ever seen it on any of our friends JK's. Shifting into manual prevents it from happening.
I would try looking into if the traction control is possibly causing the cut in power. I have a 2015 tundra that does the same when the traction control is enabled. 4low should disable it but I'm not sure how it works in newer jeeps.
Not that I have the money to buy a JL, but that "auto shut off" problem is exactly why I wouldn't buy the first production year of a new design. Something like that can't be intentional and will probably get fixed in the next year or two.
I actually got to talk to some of their top guys in Moab about it and they confirmed that I just needed to be in M-Gate or manual mode and it won't happen.
Poor Cindy always sacrificing for the video, having to run ahead or stay behind to get those great shots. But it's nice to see that not only is she great behind the camera, she great behind the wheel. Great job Cindy showing Eddie how it's done.
LOL!! Cindy loves what she does and yes, she's one hell of a good driver.
I thought she was camera shy

Just when I thought it was over.... You pulled me back in for Part 2! :D
I can not wait to get out there! These vids always give me the wheelin' itch ...
LOL! Glad to hear it

Thank you, we really are glad that you enjoy our videos. :)
“We tried to keep everything as factory as possible.” Says the guy who can’t even look over his bed rail while he’s standing next to it 😂. Awesome Jeep 👍.
LOL!!
Excellent photography, thanks.
Thank you :)
Dynatrac Jim needs to learn, "not a car, a Jeep!", even my 4 year old daughter knows this ;-)
LOL!! In all fairness, everyone in the automotive industry refers to all vehicles as "cars". Everyone at Jeep refers to Jeeps as cars too.
Nope. I just can't call my Jeep a car, sorry.😁
Good video, I like seeing all the trails, and see all the mods on the various Jeeps in the video.
Thank you, glad you liked it all :)
It looks like rain there is torrential downpours. Again, beautiful place to be, and awesome fun to be had.
For a place that doesn't really get much rain, when it does, it pours.
Thanks for the tip for manual shifting to overcome obstacle! Great video as usual. One day, I will do this trail also, in the mean time, I will do with the snow in Canada! 🇨🇦👍
Fantastic job guys. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you
What an awesome experience for all, thank you ! :)
Thank you, we're so glad you enjoyed it :)
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
The military wrap looks cool. I’d like to see that as an optional color.

oh good to know. The crazy things you find out about these new rigs as you wheel them eh!

Hi Eddie this is RedRex1 i have jku and i watch and listen and learn from your videos .thanks Eddie
Glad to hear we've been able to help share what we've been learning with you.
Great video!!! Love watching you guys take the JET Li off road!
Thank you, we're so glad to hear it :)

Was kind of sad to see Rubi on c list but I guess it's time for a new chapter awesome video as always👍👍👍
Well, we don't really have to sell her, it's just that we doubt she'd ever get used as much as she should if we kept her.
Very cool video, interesting to see you guys discover some of the JL's quirks.
Thanks. Just trying to share what we're learning.
Yay the Future of vehicles. The wonders of computer controlled vehicles
LOL!! Exactly.
I experienced that power problem with my daughter's new gladiator in the sand dunes.had to lock it in 1st and wide open throttle.
I think I'll stick with my o6 LJR.
Next time, shift into manual mode and that will help prevent it. Otherwise, old tech is good tech.
Ah, I wish I could have been there!
It'd be great if you could join us someday :)
Awesome video and great to see you learning your new JL. That power shortage is concerning. Both of you said the same thing.
It was definitely concerning but fortunately, we were able to confirm that making sure to shift into manual mode will address it.
Wayalife I will definitely keep watching and hoping that is the fix. I want a new JL Rubicon Diesel so I’m learning as much as possible from you.
TWO BIG THUMBS UP!
The problem is NOT a traction control issue. If you keep watching the video, you'll hear me explain how shifting into manual addresses this problem.
Great video Eddie as always!
Thank you :)
I love those wheels, what are they? They look similar to what I had on my old TJ. I can’t remember for sure but I think they were called “Hellcats”…
They are the KMC XD231 Robby Gordon beadlocks.
Gotta admit... Cindy cleaning up when you were Stuck was pretty Cool! She seemed pretty Humble... Nice to know in the Future if Stuck, you have the Tow Strap, the Winch, and when really Stuck.... Cindy! PS Awesome Video again! :)
LOL!! Oh yeah, Cindy is a hell of a driver.
For those trails it looks like with 35s and loss of ground clearance, you would have needed Cindy's help a lot more.
LOL!! Only if you want to take all the harder lines. There are bypasses for pretty much all the hardest stuff and you can run the trail stock.
Could be your "directional stability control" system (or whatever Jeep calls it....basically your anti-skid system...causing you the problems with power being pulled. System thinks your skidding and then pulls the pwoer. Check the manual on how to disable it.
Nope. The problem is specifically a transmission issue. So long as you make sure to be in manual mode, you will not have this problem.
That Code 1 is something else! When/where will we get to see the photo shoot of everyone?
I think the photos that Dynatrac took was for promotional purposes.
Awesome thanks
You bet, glad you liked it :)
That no throttle sounds like a tps sensor but I don't know on the new jls wranglers
Some newer drive by wire vehicles will cut the throttle back if it sees vehicle speed, brake input and throttle input at he same time. Called brake override. Could be possibility.
Just so that we're on the same page, neither one of us ever touched the brake pedal when this happened.
I want that OD Green long wheel base Two door that the Jeep guys were driving
Great video but music is too loud during some sections where we want to hear what your saying and the jeep as well.
Eddie, how are you getting along with that ever present fan noise in the JL? Thank you and Cindy so much for years of Jeep entertainment btw.
Did you disable you Start/Stop feature while on the obstacles? If not it could have have had the engine cut off as if you're at a light.
Unfortunately, that is not it.
It's possible but from what we've found, being in manual mode will help prevent this from happening.
To start with I love ur videos, keep me coming. Ok got question, what engine is in Moby?
Thanks! Moby has a 6.2L LS
Another awesome video .. re transmission problem on my XK Commander if we press and hold the traction control for button 10secs it switches off the traction control completely .. just a thought
I wish it were that simple but this is not a traction control problem and it can be addressed if you shift into manual mode.
With the stalling, the JL was about 45 degrees. Did the auto drain all the TF away from where it was needed?
I suppose that's possible but if that were the case, being in manual mode shouldn't make a difference.
Did you re-gear your axles? Because that would be your loss of power issue. It happened to me when I lifted my Toyota Land Cruiser and put 37s. I would get to the top of an obstacle and I would lose power.
Nope, still running factory gears and had the speedometer calibrated at the dealership. The power loss can be prevented by being in manual mode.
Hey Eddie, Whats the typical tire pressure do you go down to when going rock crawling in Moab? with beadlocks and without beadlocks.
Out in Moab, you really don't need to go below 12 psi at the most and that's plenty of air for standard wheels.
Wayalife thanks for the info.
Love the JL so much, sadly it cost 100k usd in my country
How unfortunate.
ok. seems you have the "sock in the throttle body" feature enabled. as my foot wasn't on the gas,
i will assume you hit this magical dead spot at the crucial moment, and there you sat.
there is a solution. jeep seems to have a problem with the "Tip In" on the acceleration, just coming
off idle. there is a hole on my JLUR tip in map probably about the same place you have one.
i found the fix by accident. my stereo guy in huntington beach is a distributor for PedalBox. the
distributor is local. it's a plug in dongle that goes on the accelerator pedal potentiometer. it remaps
the curve of the tip in, from three toed sloth, to AA/FX. there are four ranges, and each one has six
levels. so essentially you can pick which of 24 tip in profiles works best for you.
including softening the tip in ramp. i suspect it might be useful where you don't want to break traction.
i figured it was bullshit, but tom at beach autosound said "try it. if you don't like it, we will take it off."
it's still on the jeep. YMMV. it doesn't remap anything in the ECC. just re profiles the off idle response.
you can adjust it on the fly. they say not to do it on the fly, but it works fine.
$250.

I appreciate the info but I think I'll just try to remember shifting into manual.
Good to know. Thanks!
Hi Eddie also the power shortage is something to look intowith other jl owener and look into it. Cause on a trail it is Seriuos
It was definitely troubling but being in manual mode will prevent it.
Awesome video like always 😍
So glad to hear you're still enjoying our videos :)
Are there any trails in Moab that close to stock jeeps could handle? I'm in NC and doubt I could ever go but I would love.
Oh yeah, there are tons of trails you can do stock and Jeep runs them every year at EJS.
@@wayalife Thank you. I had kept watching last night and saw the video at the 2019 ejs where one of the people ran the bone stock jl on the triple threat and I was enthralled I have to go some day.
Great Jeeps, location and video! So, what has Jeep got to say about the power shortage problem?
They say you need to be in manual mode in order to prevent this.
As I'm looking at a new jeep what do you think 2018 jk or JL 4 door .and how do you like your new JL over your JK
Eddie. At 10:10 it sure looks like the stt pros hooked up better than the trail graps
It's not that they look like it, they do. Our friend in the red JK was so impressed that he's now getting a set.
Hows the road noise?
Quite for an M/T especially when compared to some but compared to something like a Toyo, you can definitely hear them a bit more. Far from anything close to a Nitto Mud Grappler though :)
I’m really curious if any company like smittybilt will make fender flares and have a replacement turn signal
Probably but I'd look at other companies before going with Smittybilt.
Update: metalcloak makes fender flares with turn signals for the new jl 😁
Eddie I can't remember if you told us are you running the factory lockers
Yup, still running the factory e-lockers.
Don't think there will be a recall as Jeep seems to think you just need to be in manual mode.
interesting, so they have put out a statement regarding this "feature"?
Great video, but I will say that its always a good idea to manually select a gear when off road and not have it in "Drive" The driver should pick a gear based on the obstacle. You as the driver have a better idea of what gear you need to be in and not let the vehicle choose for you. It gives you more control.
While this is true and I would agree with you, I have NEVER experienced anything like this on ANY of my other Jeep. Clearly, the answer to preventing this from happening is to be in manual but the power cut out should not be something that happens - period. At least, in my opinion anyway.
Wayalife Totally agree with you.
Great video! awesome that you got to see code1 in person. Also where did you get that hitch mounted stinger? I cant find one anywhere.
Had the stinger made at a hitch shop.
I love the rear spare tire protector/stinger! What is it called and/or where can I get one?
I have a new and improved version of it here: www.wayalife.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=PARTS-HITCH-STINGER
Just curious if it cut off completely or if you found a fix long term my diesel has this issue
Long term fix is to make sure you're shifted into manual mode when taking on obstacles like that.
Don't know if it'd actually cause an "accident" but it does suck. Fortunately, being in manual mode seems to address it.
@@wayalife I just discovered this “feature” in my 2021 Gladiator Eco-diesel. I thought it was just me doing something.
Manual mode worked fine.
Hi men four by four in dynatrac...power un jeep
I'm curious how the new jeeps axles are handling the 37's
So far so good. A bit too soon to know how it'll do in the long run though.
❤❤❤❤ jeep
I have a serious question ! How does the airbags never deploy on all these trail vehicles. Are there any videos of this happening.
None of the Jeeps are actually crashing head on into anything or at least at a speed that would otherwise cause an airbag to deploy.
thank you
it could be your traction control kicking in .
@@wayalife that's really strange, I wonder if using the tc kill function on the tazer would prevent it?
No. It will not. The issue is that the transmission wants to shift into a higher gear. Being in manual mode will prevent that from happening. I have talked to my friends over at FCA about this and they have confirmed this.
@@wayalife solid info and thanks for the heads up.
I hate how the JK looks like old news now haha. Still love it though
LOL!! The JK still looks great. If anything, I hate how the JL looks way too much like a JK or at least from a distance. What you got is a good Jeep - enjoy it :)
A 40" in a 4" incher are now in the works. :)
LOL!! 40" for sure but hopefully with a little less lift.
I cringe everytime those metal made contact with rocks. I slightly lift my butt from my chair to ease the pain.
Superb production as always guys. Keep on keepin on!
_-NFRs2000NYC
Thank you :)
Woah...JEEP need to adress this asap! That engine killing thing is NOT GOOD.
For now, just make sure to be in manual mode and you'll be good.
interesting to see if the manual suffers from the same issue...
It shouldn't. This is an issue with the 8-speed automatic.
Wayalife oh I see, I want to get a JL next summer but still debating between the auto or manual. BTW nice video!
I’ve seen other videos where that “feature” is also in the new Compass and Cherokee. A major FAIL for Jeep.
Well, at least it can be addressed by being in manual mode.
Lol all I can hear is that fan screaming. That damn thing is so loud
LOL!! It is annoying for sure but I'd rather have a noisy fan that cools my motor than a quite one that allows it to overheat.
you guys should contact Jeep. Maybe its a software update that could fix it?
I actually got to talk to some of their top guys in Moab about it and they confirmed that I just needed to be in M-Gate or manual mode and it won't happen.
What front bumper is that on your JL?
