How to tightly pack a road bike inner tube

Upshot: The lowly Presta cap, eschewed by many cyclists, can be very helpful when packing your spare.
For those of you unfortunate enough to be riding mountain bikes, with Schrader valves on wider tubes, those can be loosened a couple turns with a 4-way tire tool (available at any auto parts store for about $1) until they leak. Or, if you have access to a 3D printer, this guy's specially designed deflator cap looks pretty nifty:
