The girl in red is actually Emma Heesters, a Dutch singer. All of the participants are Dutch singers…each episode features one singer for whom all the others perform a song that means something to the featured singer that week. Emma was the featured one for this particular episode and Floor performed Shallow for her as it’s a song Emma has performed, as well. When it was Fooor’s turn to be featured, Henk performed The Sound of Silence for her…you DEFINITELY need to check that one out…and Emma performed a song called Strong that Floor had written back in her After Forever days for her mom, and Emma’s performance of it was so beautiful it brought Floor to tears. That’s a good one to check out, too. And, of course, any of Floor’s performances.

Everything Floor did on this show was pure gold. There are versions of the videos with English subtitles for what was said before and after the performance, and they are worth finding.
Every performance Floor does on this show is Phenomenal.....you have to do them all .......there are extended versions where they talk before and afterwards .
Much as Floor has such refined vocal control and technique, the thing that I think makes her extra special is her embodiment of the lyrics, her sensitivity to what she is saying and why, so that each song becomes almost an acted performance. Floor says she is a highly sensitive person - a sort of neurodivergence which tends to cause heightened emotional response to both internal and external influences. We have twice seen her lose control singing an old Nightwish classic "Sleeping Sun" and struggling to hold in sobbing. She can never make it through her own composition "Strong" dedicated to her mother without just losing it. Floor doesn't just sing the song, she feels it - I think that is part of why she is so charismatic and engaging to watch.
You nailed it, I couldn’t agree more! In my mind, this is what makes her so absolutely perfect for Nightwish. It’s clear Tuomas feels every single chord, modulation, note and lyric he wrote when they’re performing - and she is the same. They’re kindred spirits in that regard, and man it shows! Seriously, how many bands make a tribute video to their lead vocalist celebrating the 10 year anniversary with them? How many composers write an entire verse of a song about, and dedicated to, their lead vocalist? It’s a very short list.
Floor has said it, she is a Highly Sensitive Person. She feels emotions stronger than most people. For quite a while that was a burden for her. Through singing she discovered that she not only feels the music and the lyrics but also can convey these emotions to the audience. And that is when she started seeing her high sensitivity as something positive. Finally Nightwish's music resonated so much with her that it led to Tuomas say: "She is at home."

Beste Zangers can be translated as "Best" or "Dear" singers (both is correct). It is not a competition. 6 months prior to the show, good Dutch singers will be asked to be in the show for 2 weeks in which 8 episodes (all with English subtitles on youtube for 2019 by the way) will be recorded. Singers must come alone to a faraway resort, no husband, no children, no pets and no managers. This is to let the group bond with each other. Floor did not want to paricipate until she heard that Henk Poort was in it. Floor was his biggest fan in her teens but Henk did not know her before the show. Artists provide all other artists with a list of songs of themselves or songs that have been important in their lives. Singers perform some of those songs for each other. So, often they sing outside their normal wheelhouse. An opera singer did the rap from Eminem for example. It is half a talkshow that can get very deep (remember the bonding!) and half singing.
This is a great show, even if it is in Dutch, and you can find full episodes with them talking about the songs, with English subtitles. I can recommend any of Floor's performances (I'm a particular fan of _Que_ _Se_ _Siente),_ and anything including Henk Poort or Emma Heesters (the woman in red, who Floor was singing to here). That should keep you going for a while... 😂

You ladies discovered one of the best music shows out there. This is not a competition show, but rather a celebration of artists and their music, in an intimate setting without an audience or any distractions. Each season, 7 singers are invited to the show, and each episode is dedicated to 1 of them, a spotlight episode if you will. During that episode, the remaining 6 singers will then perform songs by the spotlighted artist, or songs of great importance to them. The songs often get an adaptation by the performing singer, to match their own style, giving us often times, quite remarkable versions of said songs. This all has the goal to honor the spotlighted singer that evening, and in between songs they talk and you get to know them a lot better, on a far more personal level than you normally see. Now for Floor's season, that truly was a outstanding season from everyone involved, so many truly great songs performed to perfection, so do not sleep on the other people you saw, they all brought their A-game as well, and you girls will love all of them, 100% certain of this. Floor was the first to perform that season, episode 1 was dedicated to Henk Poort, a huge name in musical theater (and Floors idol), and the first song performed was "Vilja Lied", a perfect song for Floor to show that "there is more to that metal singer", than people knew. It's weird if you think about it, but in 2019, in the Netherlands, only (select) metal fans knew who Floor was, everybody else was oblivious to her existence, until.. that first song during the first episode of season 2019, she was "the talk of the town" the next day, and in the following weeks, her popularity grew to new levels, now most people know exactly who she is. (as should be) So.. yes, i suggest checking out far more from this show, and not just from Floor, each will bring joy to your heart :)

All of Floor's performances from Beste Zangers are worth checking out. She's such a brilliant and thoughtful interpreter of other people's songs that this show was perfect for her. Also the show itself is just awesome - how cool is it that there's a reality show where the contestants are collaborating and supporting each other instead of competing?
They talk before and after in the full clips. This is just a snippet with the song. So great. The show is a group of singers from different genres who each get a week where they are featured. During their week, all the others sing their music, or songs special to them with their own spin on the songs. It's a super show, and Floor blew them all away. She was on the German version called Sing Meinen Song as well after this and blew them away too. 😊

I recommend you watch all of Floor's episodes from this TV show. In the order they aired is most fun (because in her first appearance the other singers did not know her): 1. Vilja Lied (aria from the 19th Century operetta The Merry Widow; she sings it in German); MaMa (Samantha Steenwijk's song {older blonde woman on the couch}; she sings it in Dutch); 3. Que Se Sienta (Rolf Sanchez's number one hit {the really smiley guy on the couch with the big, white teeth}; a Caribbean salsa about a relationship breakup which Floor does recast as a metal salsa, if you can imagine that!; she sings it in Spanish); 4. About Love, I Don't Know A Thing (Reuben Annik's {the young guy on the couch who is prone to making funny noises} country-style song about the sadness he felt as a young teen living through his parents' divorce. It was written as Dutch-Country, but Floor translated it to English for this performance.); 5. Winner! (Tim Akkerman's {the guy with the curly hair and beard} song he wrote as a tribute to his brother who was born with spina bifida and has been in a wheelchair his entire life. Tim's newest album at that time was titled The Lion Never Cries, where he noted that he was the lion. At the end of Floor's performance, you can hear Tim utter quietly, "Dammit Floor!" because she made him cry.) 6. On the end-of-season duets episode, Floor teams up with Tim Akkerman to re-do a less minimalist version of Shallow wherein Tim plays guitar and sings the male part. For the last chorus, she stands up from the bench, towering over him, and we were all going, "Oh no! She's gonna go full Nightwish on him and injure the poor boy!!" because we know she can go from so soft and delicate to blowing the doors off a 747 in a single breath! She restrained her full metal jacket just nough to spare him his life. 7. And finally the well-known duet of Phantom with Henk Poort. I think all but two episodes are available with the English subtitles on the intro and outro (if my memory serves me correctly the name Jenni Zelf (or was it Denise Hofs) is the poster for these). Best Singers here is a great show, the 2019 seems exceptionally good because of exposure but also because they go the mix just right. Two major stars in there areas in Floor and Henk backed with solid professionals and two relatively new comers.

I remember getting hooked about 15 years ago on 4 Norwegian guys singing Hallelujah (Espen Lind, Askil Holm, Alejandro Fuentes, and Kurt Nilsen). One of the best versions of an often done song.
The Queen is immortal in my eyes as well as all her NW and solo fans! You need to check out her new solo album (if you haven't already) "Paragon". I play it almost every day because it's powerful, uplifting and positive. Other times it's Nightwish of course. Then during the holidays is Toumas ( Nightwish keyboardist, composer) called "The lifetime adventures of Scrooge McDuck". Trust me ladies you'll love them all🎼💋🌹

Sometimes, she will sing a line where it gradually becomes airier as she nears the end, as if she is starting to run out of breath and is pushing through...Well, she is never running out of breath or pushing through, but she makes a stylistic choice for it to sound like that as a way of raising the emotion and intensity. This is a whole other level of artistry...

PRIOR to Fall of 2019 Floor's home Country the Netherlands, in general, NEVER heard of Floor Jansen because they don't play metal on the radio there. So only if you were ALREADY a metal head you would've known her from After Forever, ReVamp and/or Nightwish. So, Netherlands = NO METAL. (generalizing) When Floor appeared on the show Beste Zangers in season 12 (No, not a competition, but a singing show where Dutch artists sing to each other when one of them sits on the couch for the whole episode, Floor's "couch" episode was ep4). When all the singers arrived for the show, the ONLY one who knew anything about her was Tim Akkerman who knew her from her time in After Forever. All everyone else knew was some "Metal" singer was going to be on the show. To make this SHORT, she blew everyone away INCLUDING audiences that were watching at their homes on tv. (Watch ALL 8 performances and you’ll be blown away!!!) Floor NOW became known in the Netherlands in a more mainstream way.

from this same show, you should check out Phantom of the Opera (Henk and Floor), Let Me Love You (Tim), Winner (Floor) and Sound of Silence (Henk). This whole season was magic, but those are some of my fav moments. Henk and Floor's version of Phantom is now legendary, Tim's version of Let Me Love You had Emma in tears almost from the first note... not to mention it's a great reinterpretation of a dance song into a country song. Tim wrote Winner for his disabled brother and Floor had him in tears too with her interpretation of his song... and then Sound of Silence is such a great piece anyway. The original S&G version, the Disturbed version, and now Henk's version adds to that list of great renditions.

Yeah it's not a competition show it's more like a complimentary show...... Floor always knew who Henk was but I don't think Henk knew who floor was until this time period...... And now they toured together and they are very very close friends it's awesome........ I said this before and I'll say it again the small country of the Netherlands seriously might produce the best crop of singers I've ever heard it's amazing how many good singers are from that country especially female singers.

Floors little daughter loves the Frozen movies playing them on loop, so Floor did a cover version of Let it go , Frozen. and Into the unknown Frozen 2, they are absolutely brilliant. Floor saw Henk as the phantom in her teens and had a crush on him. The show Beste Zangers (best singers) had been trying to get Floor on the show. When she heard Henk was going to be on she agreed. They had never met and Floor wanted to do Phantom. Henk agreed if he could also do it with her and Nightwish. Covid made had to do for a few years but they finally managed.

Everything Floor did on this show was pure gold. There are versions of the videos with English subtitles for what was said before and after the performance, and they are worth finding.

Every performance Floor does on this show is Phenomenal.....you have to do them all .......there are extended versions where they talk before and afterwards .
Much as Floor has such refined vocal control and technique, the thing that I think makes her extra special is her embodiment of the lyrics, her sensitivity to what she is saying and why, so that each song becomes almost an acted performance. Floor says she is a highly sensitive person - a sort of neurodivergence which tends to cause heightened emotional response to both internal and external influences.
We have twice seen her lose control singing an old Nightwish classic "Sleeping Sun" and struggling to hold in sobbing. She can never make it through her own composition "Strong" dedicated to her mother without just losing it.
Floor doesn't just sing the song, she feels it - I think that is part of why she is so charismatic and engaging to watch.
You nailed it, I couldn’t agree more! In my mind, this is what makes her so absolutely perfect for Nightwish. It’s clear Tuomas feels every single chord, modulation, note and lyric he wrote when they’re performing - and she is the same. They’re kindred spirits in that regard, and man it shows! Seriously, how many bands make a tribute video to their lead vocalist celebrating the 10 year anniversary with them? How many composers write an entire verse of a song about, and dedicated to, their lead vocalist? It’s a very short list.

Floor has said it, she is a Highly Sensitive Person. She feels emotions stronger than most people. For quite a while that was a burden for her. Through singing she discovered that she not only feels the music and the lyrics but also can convey these emotions to the audience. And that is when she started seeing her high sensitivity as something positive. Finally Nightwish's music resonated so much with her that it led to Tuomas say: "She is at home."

Beste Zangers can be translated as "Best" or "Dear" singers (both is correct). It is not a competition. 6 months prior to the show, good Dutch singers will be asked to be in the show for 2 weeks in which 8 episodes (all with English subtitles on youtube for 2019 by the way) will be recorded. Singers must come alone to a faraway resort, no husband, no children, no pets and no managers. This is to let the group bond with each other. Floor did not want to paricipate until she heard that Henk Poort was in it. Floor was his biggest fan in her teens but Henk did not know her before the show. Artists provide all other artists with a list of songs of themselves or songs that have been important in their lives. Singers perform some of those songs for each other. So, often they sing outside their normal wheelhouse. An opera singer did the rap from Eminem for example. It is half a talkshow that can get very deep (remember the bonding!) and half singing.
This is a great show, even if it is in Dutch, and you can find full episodes with them talking about the songs, with English subtitles. I can recommend any of Floor's performances (I'm a particular fan of _Que_ _Se_ _Siente),_ and anything including Henk Poort or Emma Heesters (the woman in red, who Floor was singing to here). That should keep you going for a while... 😂

I am german and watched the dutch-Show every week just for floor and that was the best season "Beste Zangers"(the same a couple years later in german "sing meinen song" was also good) And there are some version with engl. subtitle and incl. intro+outro but be carefull high chance to get blocked by RUclips because Show from NL (Dutch, home country of Floor)

You ladies discovered one of the best music shows out there.
This is not a competition show, but rather a celebration of artists and their music, in an intimate setting without an audience or any distractions.
Each season, 7 singers are invited to the show, and each episode is dedicated to 1 of them, a spotlight episode if you will.
During that episode, the remaining 6 singers will then perform songs by the spotlighted artist, or songs of great importance to them.
The songs often get an adaptation by the performing singer, to match their own style, giving us often times, quite remarkable versions of said songs.
This all has the goal to honor the spotlighted singer that evening, and in between songs they talk and you get to know them a lot better, on a far more personal level than you normally see.
Now for Floor's season, that truly was a outstanding season from everyone involved, so many truly great songs performed to perfection, so do not sleep on the other people you saw, they all brought their A-game as well, and you girls will love all of them, 100% certain of this.
Floor was the first to perform that season, episode 1 was dedicated to Henk Poort, a huge name in musical theater (and Floors idol), and the first song performed was "Vilja Lied", a perfect song for Floor to show that "there is more to that metal singer", than people knew.
It's weird if you think about it, but in 2019, in the Netherlands, only (select) metal fans knew who Floor was, everybody else was oblivious to her existence, until.. that first song during the first episode of season 2019, she was "the talk of the town" the next day, and in the following weeks, her popularity grew to new levels, now most people know exactly who she is. (as should be)
So.. yes, i suggest checking out far more from this show, and not just from Floor, each will bring joy to your heart :)

All of Floor's performances from Beste Zangers are worth checking out. She's such a brilliant and thoughtful interpreter of other people's songs that this show was perfect for her. Also the show itself is just awesome - how cool is it that there's a reality show where the contestants are collaborating and supporting each other instead of competing?

That was the first time Floor met Henk, but had been a fan of his since she was a child. He was the Dutch Phantom in the 90's.
There is a version of this on RUclips that includes a bit of the intro dialogue and after dialogue in which one of our esteemed Nightwish Army members has been kind enough to include the English translation subtitles over the Dutch vocal. I recommend you watch all of Floor's episodes from this TV show. In the order they aired is most fun (because in her first appearance the other singers did not know her): 1. Vilja Lied (aria from the 19th Century operetta The Merry Widow; she sings it in German); MaMa (Samantha Steenwijk's song {older blonde woman on the couch}; she sings it in Dutch); 3. Que Se Sienta (Rolf Sanchez's number one hit {the really smiley guy on the couch with the big, white teeth}; a Caribbean salsa about a relationship breakup which Floor does recast as a metal salsa, if you can imagine that!; she sings it in Spanish); 4. About Love, I Don't Know A Thing (Reuben Annik's {the young guy on the couch who is prone to making funny noises} country-style song about the sadness he felt as a young teen living through his parents' divorce. It was written as Dutch-Country, but Floor translated it to English for this performance.); 5. Winner! She's gonna go full Nightwish on him and injure the poor boy!!" because we know she can go from so soft and delicate to blowing the doors off a 747 in a single breath! She restrained her full metal jacket just nough to spare him his life. 7. And finally the well-known duet of Phantom with Henk Poort. Best Singers here is a great show, the 2019 seems exceptionally good because of exposure but also because they go the mix just right. Two major stars in there areas in Floor and Henk backed with solid professionals and two relatively new comers.

I remember getting hooked about 15 years ago on 4 Norwegian guys singing Hallelujah (Espen Lind, Askil Holm, Alejandro Fuentes, and Kurt Nilsen). One of the best versions of an often done song.

The Queen is immortal in my eyes as well as all her NW and solo fans! You need to check out her new solo album (if you haven't already) "Paragon". I play it almost every day because it's powerful, uplifting and positive. Other times it's Nightwish of course. Then during the holidays is Toumas ( Nightwish keyboardist, composer) called "The lifetime adventures of Scrooge McDuck". Trust me ladies you'll love them all🎼💋🌹

PRIOR to Fall of 2019 Floor's home Country the Netherlands, in general, NEVER heard of Floor Jansen because they don't play metal on the radio there. So only if you were ALREADY a metal head you would've known her from After Forever, ReVamp and/or Nightwish. So, Netherlands = NO METAL. (generalizing) When Floor appeared on the show Beste Zangers in season 12 (No, not a competition, but a singing show where Dutch artists sing to each other when one of them sits on the couch for the whole episode, Floor's "couch" episode was ep4). When all the singers arrived for the show, the ONLY one who knew anything about her was Tim Akkerman who knew her from her time in After Forever. All everyone else knew was some "Metal" singer was going to be on the show. To make this SHORT, she blew everyone away INCLUDING audiences that were watching at their homes on tv. (Watch ALL 8 performances and you’ll be blown away!!!) Floor NOW became known in the Netherlands in a more mainstream way.
There are versions on youtube with English translations that include the discussion both before and after the song. As noted she is performing for professional Dutch singers. Only one or two had any real idea who she was. The opening song for Henk made quite an impression....

from this same show, you should check out Phantom of the Opera (Henk and Floor), Let Me Love You (Tim), Winner (Floor) and Sound of Silence (Henk). This whole season was magic, but those are some of my fav moments. Henk and Floor's version of Phantom is now legendary, Tim's version of Let Me Love You had Emma in tears almost from the first note... not to mention it's a great reinterpretation of a dance song into a country song. Tim wrote Winner for his disabled brother and Floor had him in tears too with her interpretation of his song... and then Sound of Silence is such a great piece anyway. The original S&G version, the Disturbed version, and now Henk's version adds to that list of great renditions.
I don't know if you fine ladies have seen and reacted to the performance that Floor Jansen and Henk Poort did of "Phantom of the Opera" on this show but if you haven't, it is a must!! Yeah it's not a competition show it's more like a complimentary show...... Floor always knew who Henk was but I don't think Henk knew who floor was until this time period...... And now they toured together and they are very very close friends it's awesome........ I said this before and I'll say it again the small country of the Netherlands seriously might produce the best crop of singers I've ever heard it's amazing how many good singers are from that country especially female singers.

This is a Dutch TV-show with Dutch singer/songwriters.... try some other songs from this show she sung on this show... and off course the first time she did tye Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on this show.
During C0VID Floor did a few covers all were exceptionally done. Floors little daughter loves the Frozen movies playing them on loop, so Floor did a cover version of Let it go , Frozen. and Into the unknown Frozen 2, they are absolutely brilliant. Floor saw Henk as the phantom in her teens and had a crush on him. The show Beste Zangers (best singers) had been trying to get Floor on the show. When she heard Henk was going to be on she agreed. They had never met and Floor wanted to do Phantom. Henk agreed if he could also do it with her and Nightwish. Covid made had to do for a few years but they finally managed.
Yeah they all just knew her as a metal singer.....so they were constantly....surprised?
