My neighborhood has many basswood trees but now I need to find a good poplar forest like yours. Why are you using the nucs on your Demaree? I started doing that last season b/c of the weight factor.
Mainly because when I first started keeping bees, I used all nukes. Then when I decided to get serious with honey, I started getting 10 frame equipment. Well it was easy enough to make a shim to fit 2 five frame boxes on a 10 frame box and just like you I found the weight and handling of all deep frames 10 times easier. So now I have all deep frames, all deep boxes and if I don't use an excluder, the queen picks one side or the other to lay in. It was on accident. :)
