We grew up with music in our house. We had two upright grand pianos standing over the dead center inside of our now-325 year old farmhouse, over extra braces in the basement. Beside them were my brother's immense drum set, my acoustic guitar, my brother's bass, another brother's French horn, and various percussion, topped off with my next-older sister's flutes and her oboe. The oboe, all I could think of when she played was Peter and the wolf. Any time I hear an oboe, as a matter of fact. This is SWEET. ❤
A have spent many years in Mannheim and Heidelberg as a visiting professor. I did not know anything about this composer and his beautiful music. I have already ordered the CD on Amazon.
At last! My favorite instrument, the oboe, showcased so beautifully here! Heartfelt thanks, BC, for this gorgeous collection of concertos!❤❤❤ I will be looking for composer Ludwig Lebrun's name on albums now. So many wonderful composers that this American doesn't know about, it seems, I appreciate you bringing them to me! Are there any recordings of his father's works? Just wondering. Take care now!😊
Exquisite music and as very often, a great discovery for me, thank you! giving the fact that I lived for two and a half years in Mannheim, I've never heard of Mannheim school before. And wow, your metaphors! I liked this one especially: "the oboe sings like an abandoned operatic heroine".
