This show was created after Redgrave was fired from House Calls over her wanting to breast feed her child on the set and Norman Fell getting screwed out of returning to Threes Company after the Ropers failed.
Tim Reid joined the cast of Simon & Simon as Downtown Brown, then he got his own sitcom called Frank's Place and his Real Life Wife Daphne Maxwell Reid co-starred on the series and then, they both starred in Snoops, not to be confused with the abc series from Creator (David E.Kelley) and then, in the 90's Tim co-starred in Sister Sister while his wife became the new Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Tim Reid, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Karyn Parsons recently came to Nottingham UK to attend EM Com 2024 over a weekend in June and they were fabulous to meet.
Incidentally, Teresa Ganzel later became Johnny Carson's "Matinee Lady" (after Carol Wayne's tragic death) in his "Art Fern's Tea Time Movie" sketches on "THE TONIGHT SHOW"...and why not? Carson's production company was behind this series!
This version, virtually "reworked" from season one- with a new supporting cast and production team [executive producers Larry Rosen & Larry Tucker were inbetween "MR. MERLIN" and '"JENNIFER SLEPT HERE"]- briefly aired on NBC's Saturday night schedule at 9:30pm(et).
It's weird that Steve Ryan made it in to the opening credits as a main character, but if you look him and the show up on IMDB he isn't mentioned anywhere. As if he was never on the show at all! He's not listed in the cast and on his own IMDB page this show isn't even there under his acting credits.
Thanks, I just found that out, but also, if someone has the closing, I would LOVE to have seen that and also, Carson Productions also co-produced Partners in Crime Starring Wonder Woman Lynda Carter and Tim Reid's Co-Star from WKRP in Cincinnati Loni Anderson and Carson Productions also found great success co-producing TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes w/the late Dick Clark and the late Ed McMahon and Amen Starring George Jefferson Himself-the late Sherman Hemsley
WOW, this has an All-Star Cast The late Lynn Redgrave from TV's Chicken Soup and a woman of many many talents, the late Norman Fell from Three's Company and The Ropers, Veteran Comic Actor Joel Brooks from Hail to the Chief and My Sister Sam, Jean Smart of Designing Women and the short lived CBS Sitcom Style & Substance, Tim Reid of WKRP in Cincinnati, Simon & Simon, Frank's Place & Sister Sister, the late Steve Ryan of Arrested Development and Game Show Sweetheart Teresa Ganzel What a cast
Here's another fact for ya: Did you know that Loni Anderson and Tim Reid both worked with WKRP Creator Hugh Wilson on 2 Short-Lived Television Series? Well they sure did Loni worked with Hugh on the set of the short-lived NBC Sitcom Easy Streets while Tim Reid worked with Hugh on the set of the CBS Comedy-Drama Frank's Place
Yes, also the home to Punky Brewster, Sara, Amen, The Original Hollywood Squares, High Rollers, Card Sharks and of course, Wheel of Fortune (1975-1989)
I figured, b/c the one that was singing lead to the theme must have been Walter Orange who is still with the group along with William King and J.D. Nicholas
Let's not forget about Tim's other roles including Downtown Brown on Simon & Simon and Ray Campbell on Sister Sister Joel Brooks also had success with My Sister Sam
Here's something else: Teresa Ganzel and Joel Brooks once appeared together on The Original $100,000 Pyramid w/Mr. Clark and it was sort of a Teacher's Only Reunion How about that?
I have interest in this show- yet, if it had a normal run, I know I would of heard about it, been able to see reruns, but... everybody has to watch relatively the same type of SHIT year after year! murder mysteries rule the airwaves- *_and I'm fucking tired of THAT_*

Albin Kampfer even a good cast cant carry a show: if the script isnt strong & the chemistry lacks

I remember my mom use to watch Franks place
You got that right, she also starred in the short-lived CBS Sitcom Style & Substance w/Nancy McKeon of The Facts of Life Fame
Teresa Genzel still looks gorgeous at 61.
That was a good cast. Surprised it didn't do well.
Awesome theme song!

Not to mention, she became the Sweetheart of Pyramid w/Dick Clark during the 80's and the short lived John Davidson Era
Ah... I remember an '80s sitcom with Norman Fell playing a teacher. That's all I remember about it...
Principal. actually.
It's weird that Steve Ryan made it in to the opening credits as a main character, but if you look him and the show up on IMDB he isn't mentioned anywhere. As if he was never on the show at all! He's not listed in the cast and on his own IMDB page this show isn't even there under his acting credits.

I had no idea of any of this. Thank you very much for informing us!
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF SOMEONE COULD LOAD FULL EPISODES OF TEACHERS ONLY
This was one of two shows Jean Smart did in calendar year 1983--the other being 'Reggie' for ABC.
until 3 years later designing women
WOW, this has an All-Star Cast
The late Lynn Redgrave from TV's Chicken Soup and a woman of many many talents, the late Norman Fell from Three's Company and The Ropers, Veteran Comic Actor Joel Brooks from Hail to the Chief and My Sister Sam, Jean Smart of Designing Women and the short lived CBS Sitcom Style & Substance, Tim Reid of WKRP in Cincinnati, Simon & Simon, Frank's Place & Sister Sister, the late Steve Ryan of Arrested Development and Game Show Sweetheart Teresa Ganzel
What a cast
T-Bone Hubbard And, to top it all off, it was produced by Aaron Ruben, who produced "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Sanford and Son," among others.
@@libertubey2199 Correct and he also Produced the spin-off of Andy Griffith called Gomer Pyle USMC
Jean Smart was so beddable here.
Shes always so stacked and thick
Season 2's intro, I believe (1982-83). I've wanted to see this one for awhile...thanks!
Where can i see a whole episode of this looks possibly good
Jean Smart became better known as Charlene on Designing Women after this show left the air. :)
Here's another fact for ya:

Well they sure did
Loni worked with Hugh on the set of the short-lived NBC Sitcom Easy Streets while Tim Reid worked with Hugh on the set of the CBS Comedy-Drama Frank's Place
Good cast for a show that only lasted a week and a half
Was this shot at NBC's Burbank studios?
Yes, also the home to Punky Brewster, Sara, Amen, The Original Hollywood Squares, High Rollers, Card Sharks and of course, Wheel of Fortune (1975-1989)
I figured, b/c the one that was singing lead to the theme must have been Walter Orange who is still with the group along with William King and J.D. Nicholas
Of course, creator Aaron Ruben was also creator and executive producer of "Gomer Pyle-USMC."
Never heard of this sitcom. Wow Venus flytrap (WKRP), Mr. Roper (Three's Company) and Charlene (Designing Women) are there.
Let's not forget about Tim's other roles including Downtown Brown on Simon & Simon and Ray Campbell on Sister Sister
Joel Brooks also had success with My Sister Sam
This was a funny show!
Thanks for posting this. Do you have the season 1 intro?
Does anyone remember the episode where they were at a funeral and all of a sudden the corpse starts doing sit-ups and everybody shocked at it?
I liked "Amen" a lot. "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes" was pretty good too.
Who co-produced Teachers Only with Larry Larry Productions?
Columbia Pictures Television or Embassy Television?
carson productions
Did Lionel Richie leave The Commodores during that time for a Big Time Solo Career?
Another bomb from Carson Productions. lol
until amen.
It would have to be Columbia, as "Larry Larry's" previous shows- "MR. MERLIN" and 'JENNIFER SLEPT HERE"- were co-produced by them.
Redgrave also had House Calls w/ Mad Hatter, which i also liked. Norman Fell is great. But that opening theme, Awful!!
Here's something else:
Teresa Ganzel and Joel Brooks once appeared together on The Original $100,000 Pyramid w/Mr. Clark and it was sort of a Teacher's Only Reunion
How about that?
