watching it again as a 44 year old I now realise how many innuendos and adult jokes in that show that must've gone straight over my head as a child, its like discovering a whole new show all over again, its such a great part of my childhood, I feel sorry for todays kids who missed out on awesome shows like this, I'm just thankful for DVD and Blu-ray so these shows can go on and live forever for future generations to enjoy and fall in love with
I'm an 85 baby so although it was my era, I grew up watching the reruns in the mid to late 90's on Saturday morning in the UK, back then I had no idea how old the show actually was but it was the reason I woke up first thing Saturday morning to watch week after week month after month (and Power Rangers) - kids TV in the 90's was great! Iconic!
Used to watch this at my grandmothers house back in the 80’s on a illegal antenna that my dad had installed during the Soviet era who blocked all access to all American and European TV shows. Such a sweet childhood memory... by the way the show was in Turkish because they were the closest country where the show was broadcasting ...my grandmother had to translate...and the only reason she spoke turkish was that she and her family were deported from Western Armenia back in 1915 during the Genocide...which is now occupied by turkey.
My parents visited Romania before the wall came down in 1988. It was still under Soviet control. We are bilingual and speak Portuguese. There were people following this small of Americans. While my parents were sitting at Breakfast in the hotel a man sat close to them. They started speaking in Portuguese LOL. They were nobody important. Just simple missionaries visiting the country. But what wonderful stories I heard about the people in Romania.

This is so iconic for that era. At least 50% of the coolness of a show is its musical theme. And in the 70s and 80s we had a plethora of shows/cartoons that could be recognized from their music. This was one of them.
I disagree. Without David Hasselhoff's charm and charisma this show would never have been as great as it was. Michael Knight and KITT formed a perfect partnership and it was their communication and respect for each other that made the show.

Human beings are wired for FEELINGS - and music is a major component in putting us in that mood or state of mind. Music puts us in a state we want to feel and as long as that happens - you have a timeless classic. The build-up and tension that emerges until KITT shows up and lyrics set in - just damn.
Music definitely is interwoven into humans DNA or brains . Its why when you go to the gym you'll see people with headphones listening to music to give them increased motivation . I spend on average 4 hours per day almost every day in the gym and the music I listen to is all motivational music . Music that makes you feel indestructible and (without knowing it or being aware) the music has also improved my confidence, self esteem and social anxiety . When you're listening to upbeat positive stuff for hours every day it changes your mindset and thoughts . I guess the increased cardio and fitness also helps . But music unlocks and activates something in human brains thats for sure. Just like you could have a playful kitten thats cute and adorable but if you show it a youtube video of mice running around it just unlocks the cats hunting and predator instincts and those instincts will override everything and it will start attacking your computer screen like it believes its a lion lol
The narrator is Richard Basehart, who had an eloquent voice like James Earl Jones. They also had him speak at the closing ceremonies of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
I love the exaggerated breathiness and hesitancy of his delivery here. Vincent Price did this kind of thing too. It sounds a bit artificial and hokey now, but it was part of an earlier generation of oratory and delivery that’s still fascinating to listen to. Same goes for the stentorian announcer voices they used to have on shows like Superfriends.
The announcer does a perfect job. The way he says the name of the show - Iconic. One of those great voices like Vince Caroli, Stan Lee, we got to listen to before so many adventures.
No matter how old you are and how many times u listen to this song on repeat, u'll never get tired of this song. Im telling this from my very own experience. Im 23 years old now. I started watching knight rider when my parents told me about it when I think I was around 6 years old I think. So ya.. pretty much a lifetime die hard fan of knight rider and that'll never fade away

This show was it. When they started running the trailers for it- weeks before the first episode, we were all beside ourselves waiting for that show to air, nothing like it had been on TV before that. It was another level. This and A Team created a genre that was all about weekend TV.
KITT was featured at Universal Studios in the '80s. My family visited there and I got to sit in the car and talk to KITT. Of course, I thought it was a real talking car. I asked KITT why he drove so fast. Did he ever fear getting pulled over by the cops? KITT said he wasn't worried about it because he could drive faster than the cops and escape. Hahaha.

The narrator is Richard Basehart, who had an eloquent voice like James Earl Jones. They also had him speak at the closing ceremonies of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
He portrayed "Wilton Knight" in the Pilot Episode "Knight of The Phoenix" :)
I can't believe he was the goofy clown from "La Strada."
He was an immensely talented actor. I highly recommend watching his performances in 14 Hours and He Walked By Night.

I love the exaggerated breathiness and hesitancy of his delivery here. Vincent Price did this kind of thing too. It sounds a bit artificial and hokey now, but it was part of an earlier generation of oratory and delivery that’s still fascinating to listen to. Same goes for the stentorian announcer voices they used to have on shows like Superfriends.
The announcer does a perfect job. The way he says the name of the show - Iconic.
One of those great voices like Vince Caroli, Stan Lee, we got to listen to before so many adventures.

No matter how old you are and how many times u listen to this song on repeat, u'll never get tired of this song. Im telling this from my very own experience. Im 23 years old now. I started watching knight rider when my parents told me about it when I think I was around 6 years old I think. So ya.. pretty much a lifetime die hard fan of knight rider and that'll never fade away
An iconic theme song and quite possibly THE greatest tv show theme song of all time. A great theme song and an awesome intro with KITT driving thru the desert with that colored horizon with shots of his tech and feats is a win-win for any tv show intro.
I would say Airwolf is the coolest by some margin, but the 80's in general had really memorable theme scores.

@@burritoboy2751 You are correct. Since posting that I went back and watched the pilot. Amazing how more similar his narration voice is to Frees than to his speaking voice. But one couldn't do much better to pattern it after.
@@pigs18 Yeah, Frees was awesome. I didn't know that he voiced KARR. For some reason I thought Peter Cullen provided the voice for both of his appearances.
I'm on a classic marathon with my kids, I watch these with my 7-year-olds! They love it!!
This show was it. When they started running the trailers for it- weeks before the first episode, we were all beside ourselves waiting for that show to air, nothing like it had been on TV before that. It was another level. This and A Team created a genre that was all about weekend TV.

KITT was featured at Universal Studios in the '80s. My family visited there and I got to sit in the car and talk to KITT. Of course, I thought it was a real talking car. I asked KITT why he drove so fast. Did he ever fear getting pulled over by the cops? KITT said he wasn't worried about it because he could drive faster than the cops and escape. Hahaha.
Yes I remember talking to kiTT as well, as a kid visiting Universal Studios as tourists in USA. I cant remember our conversation but it was the coolest thing. I remember buying a couple of souvenir toy KiTT cars afterwards.
Such a cool memory! By the time I went to Universal in Florida, I think it was way too late.
