Scott, I just want you to know that I am watching this video while getting a vasectomy 👍
Really ?
@@TheCa006 yup.
Thanks for letting us know that :)
@@bradenpittman1801 you’re welcome.
Grats.. maybe? ;)
"I started to paint it, but never finished it." The proud mantra of hobbyists everywhere, and you learned it so young! 😁
😅😅
"I bought a game that I haven't ever played."- is the RPG enthusiast version of this mantra.
Amen! I have a closet of shame as well hahahahaha
@@Ropetupa Yeah, ehmmm... Long story short: yes! 🤷🏻♀️
This is a great topic for a video and super relaxing to boot. Every hobbyist has that pile of shame, that messy closet, and we all need to take inventory sooner or later. It's therapeutic, nostalgic, and can help to clear our minds and our backlogs. Great video Scott, hopefully this inspires others to follow suit!
Love the vibe of this video. The chill music, cleaning and just chatting about projects
Knew I had to stay and watch at this point, 0:05
I watch cleaning videos already, so this was extra soothing!
That was actually a really dope video, Scott. Loved listening to the memories attached to each thing.
Whaattt Ser Winter watches miniac!?!
Honestly I love cutting room floor stuff, hearing about ideas or projects that never quite managed to turn into finished works, and this video has a lot of that. It’s always cool to see a glimpse behind the curtain at the land of never was.
Being able to look back on eveywhere you've been is an excellent opportunity to really appreciate where you are. Nice take on organizing your space!
You’ve got some GEMS in there, Scott. I like the idea of a Closet of Shame(tm) instead of just a pile or box. I packed mine into boxes and it means I never see them and I’m never reminded what I have and what I should think about painting next. Surprisingly inspiring!
All my unpainted are out and on display with my painted so that when I am ready to paint I have everything to choose from.
This is great content. Love that you are OK with sharing this kind of stuff with us also
I really appreciated this video. I end up adding a lot of things to my to-do app that never get finished and every six months or so I go and clean it up and re-prioritize old projects, this felt a lot like that. I always appreciate when you introduce us to the less "sexy" parts of the hobby, really helps make your work and lifestyle more personal.
Thank you for sharing! It was a great video and it was really nice to hear someone else say "it was taking to long" or "i didn't finish it, but I will!" Is the humbling all of us need. Thank you!
Scott, past videos have this completely different chill vibe and I am all for it. Your love for it is showing. Cannot wait for the KS! Will support! Hope you are doing well and take care!
Scott! Great video. Very inspiring. I have my own closet of shame to clean up in a few weeks and watching this felt really good. Thanks.
More please! Organization/Memory walk-throughs are really relaxing.
I'm here for this closet cleaning extravaganza. Surprisingly zen and I loved all the memories you shared.
Scott: Has literally a whole room of shame.
Also Scott: "I didnt find the mini, so I bought a new one."
Classic Scott 🤣👍🏻
(but also relatable)
I can appreciate this little time travel story time. Wish we had more info on the mini you bought tho!
Scott,
You amaze me with how you can extrapolate such heartfelt and meaningful content from the simple things. Great video. Thank you.
You are one of a very small set of painters that I can consistently enjoy watching. You really do awesome work, thank you.
The energy of this video made me feel so good. Thank you Scott, you made My Day❤️
Great vibe for a video to watch over lunch, and a solid reminder to get out of my apartment after and get started on everything I've been putting off...
I love the way chiller vibe of the videos you're making at the moment.
Love your videos Scott. Thanks again for sharing your journey with us.
Another chill video, love your stuff Scott, been here since the early days and have always loved your content, keep it up buddy!
I've watched a few of these types of videos before and i find them oddly interesting! Always good to see other peoples pile of shame as i've just just got back into Games Workshop (after a "break" of 25 odd years) and i'm kidding myself that i won't end up with a pile myself.
And the comment about the "Ancient" space marines just made me feel really, really old!
This isn't chore and ad video (only), it's a story video. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Also, you need to finish that forest dragon.
Hey Scott I have the exact same forest Dragon. I did finish it, but number of years back I decided to strip it back and did a repaint as an ice dragon
I love the bret closet. What a good bit!
I watched this while some jazz played in the living room on a rainy day. Twas an interesting vibe melencholy and thoughtfullness.
Brent being in your closet was my holiday dream come true. Thanks guys! Next year, i will be in your closet, now that i know it works !
The irony of digging through a pile of shame, only to buy a new model 😅
Loved this vid. Sometimes it’s cool to just have a check in declutter. Not all posts have to be mind blowing technical instructionals. More of these I say!
I don't care what anyone says, I love these kinds of videos. It makes me realize my pile of shame is NOTHING. That's good for me for motivation.
We all have wardrobes (closets) of shame and piles of unfinished projects I expect. I am in the process of moving house and so have been packing all my stuff across 3 different hobbies (warhammer, model railways (plus scale modelling)and jewellery making) and keep coming across things I'd totally forgotten about. When the move is finished I expect I'll probably sell some of the model railway stuff (which is by far the biggest proportion) as I expect that I'll keep getting more miniatures over the coming years. I dropped out of the warhammer hobby for a good while and your videos were amongst those I came across that made me want to return to miniature painting again.
I SEE YU JING MODELS IN THAT CLOSET SCOTT!!!!! I'm now incredibly excited to see you paint up some infinity stuff
I enjoy this style of video from you.
I also liked the sneak peak of the Woodelves. I am optimistic that I will back your kickstarter.
Hey we get to see the skeletons in Miniacs closet.. and the Marines...and the dragons... And the...
Love the vibe of this one and the reminder that we should go back and check where we are, what we mean to do, and where we're going.
I cannot wait for your kickstarter to launch. I know I'm going to be getting one of them. I like the middle from the clip you showed a lot!
He's my favorite as well
I bought one of those tye dye hoodies, they are so sick! I love the color choice and style and the back printing goes so hard, can’t wait to till it arrives
Loved it Scott! Sorry you couldn't find your mini, but loved the different video and hearing the stories!
The cutting mat and hoody are sick as well! I think if I got a mat I'd have to pin it up and never use it XD
Keep up the great work!
Oh lawd jebus I gotta get this organized with my stockpile of shame 😳 …eventually… happy holidays!!!
those kind of video are actually more fun for me to enjoy than painting one recently , they are just satisfying and relaxing
I recently got started on my pile of unfinished stuff, I'll finish it eventually!
The most relaxing video! Thank you!
Loved how perfectly this footage at 2:17 of Vince Venturella looking disappointed lines up with the audio
I've been off and on painting my Space Marines, I kind of went my own way and painted them as the Black templars. I just kind of have an issue getting everything smooth and neat. My white paint always comes out gritty or chunky. I think I need to buy some more corax white. But watching your videos always makes me wanna get back into finishing and one day I'll be better at it lol
If you don't use a wet pallet starting to use one helps a lot. Also basing black and then building to grey. I am not the best painter but it definitely helps.
Your pile of shame reminds me of the models my friend loaned to me for multiple reasons (mostly just different subjects leading to different painting techniques for practice).
This was a perfect video to procrastinate on my workshop cleaning :D
My hoodie arrived yesterday! Wore it to work today, and found out a co-worker of mine is also a Miniac fan! We are now best friends, and this hoodie is amazing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That is awesome!
I'm not active in the hobby at the moment man. Just wanted to say I think you are a great storyteller and I still enjoy your vids. Thanks
This was awesome. I have the same forest dragon, bought by my mom, that i finally painted like 10 years later, lol. It was very rewarding, even though my skills weren't great.
I had a bunch of those old minis, models sure have come an insanely long way
Love the head-closet scream! Best part of video next to the Reign In Hell plug!
Haha, loved the shot where the camera was behind the boxes as you put them on the shelf cause I realised you had to just take them off the shelf again to get the camera back.
.... you're killing my movie magic!
Might I suggest using the Jewelry boxes with all the dividers in them for beads as bit boxes. It allows very thorough sorting to bits and there’s tons of different sizes depending on what you wanna store in them. I use one for each army and game type. (I.e. space marines have one, SoB have one. Warmachine has one, etc.)
I like these kinds of videos as well as the paint related stuff!
Amazing video... nicely done on the closet... good job
Nice video. Felt like I could have been chilling out with you perusing your pile of shame together, while I was like, "it's not as big as mine..... pile of shame that is, ooh err"
Being fairly new at the hobby, having started in april this year, I've already acquired quite a collection of a grey hoard and I at least did a base coat on all the dragons I have :p
I wish I had the boxes for some but they take up so much space, mostly the wizkids nolzurs minis
This video was surprisingly cathartic.
It would have been funny to me if when the closet opened.... Ninjon was wearing a gimp suit, handcuffed and gagged lol.
Or Daryl… LOL
In my experience: keep all your unpainted and unfinished minis somewhere obvious. One, this gives one a good idea of unfinished projects, and two, (in my experience) will stop one from getting more and more (and more) minis which might remain untreated.
As always, great vid Scott.
Best wardrobe cleaning video on RUclips
I'd really like to see you complete some of these, such as the one from your mom, or the one for your dad. Any of them would be great though. Great stuff as always.
Really cool and unexpected video, loved hearing the stories. Daft question, as such a skilled painter who could spent 100+ hours on a model, when you see a particular model among your collection and think 'I want to paint that', do you set yourself a target of what will satisfy you (e.g. 10 hour job) or do you just start and keep working until you feel its done enough? Thanks,
I’d love to hear the answer to this, too! I’ve only recently gotten into the painting side of our gaming hobby, and I’m already finding myself overwhelmed when looking at certain models and thinking about how much work I feel I need to put into them. I’d love some advice on how to set limitations on expectations.
Dude! 3:20 My grandparents bought me a Lord on Forest Dragon when I was just starting the hobby as a young'in. I was ecstatic but I never touched it because I didn't think I was ready to handle such a centrepiece. I know your feel exactly bro! :'( Also, that pewter wood elf, I think I have one or two of that exact model. I love wood elves more than anything else in fantasy. ^_^
Scott if any point you feel like you gave us any less of a video SHUT UP
This was such a fun time for me to sculpt along to on a Friday and prep my mini for today's stream!
The visuals were fun and you told an important story.
I loved every minute, just as much as your amazing Kickstarter woodelf sculpts are looking on your desk!
A video of organizing our closets of shame? Come on Scott, this is bread and butter for nerds like us. Marvelous video as always papa... also BRING THE KICKSTARTERR I WANTTT TO SUPPPORT PAPAAA AAAAAA
Apparently! I'm glad it was enjoyed!
Scott, that Tau one of your friends is doing look really nice. Hope for a run-through of it
I went and bought the mat before you even mentioned it was a new product, I heckin love it
Cleaning up like this can not only help you get organized it can also help your mental state to have an organized storage area
My tip for Scott and anyone else who would like it is set aside a small amount of time every day or week when you simply work on one item from your pile of shame and work on it till it is completed. Then move on to the next one. But the hard part is the self discipline in following this idea and schedule.
Now I just need to follow my own advice myself.
I really was expecting Bret to jump out of the closet screaming @9:16 :D
I would totally like to paint that forest dragon ahah! I like this kind of video too.
Happy Thanksgiving Scott! For the past few weeks you've been wearing that bat hoodie and I thought 'Dang, that is a sweet hoodie. I wonder where he got it?". Question answered
That was weirdly super relaxing to watch.
SLOW PUSH? YOU DID A SLOW PUSH ACROSS THE FRAME?
you setting these bars high my man. Im loving it. Youre becoming the corridor digital of minis. And I couldnt be more about it!!!!
Literally the best compliment I could imagine receiving ❤️
Great video!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Favourite part for me is where you describe something from 2006 as "ancient"🤣...you make me feel so old!
I'd love to see some more Infinity painted on the channel, or maybe some Mantic minis.
Oh cool, there is the Cawdors you painted recently (and which are looking gorgeous).
Loved this video! It's so cool to see your collection of minis ❤ we all have things we wanted to do that get pushed to the side but it's good to go through and see oh yeah I really wanted to do that 😊 also plz someone tell me the song used in though out the video(not the intro or outro)? I can't find it lol
Ditto. Kinda sounds like Snail Mail but I don't think it's her.
You underestimate how many organization nuts there are out here. More sorting, labeling and donating please!
Cool video! Really nice music as well.
Great video, I like the new(ish) style.
Hey Scott, what's the song playing through the video? Only the intro and end are linked above. Thanks. Great video.
You're my favorite youtuber. ❤️
This is the kind of vidfeo that makes me feel so much better - mainly because I have less than 20 unpainted models on my plate.
6:52
I have so many of those costco shelves! :)
Great video Scott. Watched it while planning out my own paint project for today.
What was the figure you never found? Was that a Kingdom Death figure you replaced it with?
Echoes of Death 2! I was wanting to paint the bard or ranger
would love a new ongoing series where you finish off your unfinished projects
Thanks for reminding me to clean out my closet too. lol
This is my Jam!
Enjoyed that although "Ancient set of counters.... From 2006", I've got stuff from the 80s still sealed lol
Like hoarders and addicts the same phrases get tossed around;
-I haven’t yet cracked it open, but I plan to.
-But this kit is still ready for me whenever I come back.
-Someday I still want to paint it.
-Eventually sell or give away.
-At some point.
-I’m excited to paint it…at some point.
-Some time soon…probably not soon.
Loved the video and would love yo know exactly what mini you were looking for in there
Echoes of Death 2 from KDM!
Preety nice pile you have here Scott. But what miniature were you looking for?
Is there any mini painting events in the Minnesota area that you recommend?
So, Miniac finally came out of his closet. ;)
That sealed Army Painter Air Mega set :-o Please clean that out in my direction!! lol
