This video was fantastic. The scheme got a huge upshift, I loved seeing your methodology, and the sense of personal perspective as to why you were making them. Thanks for making this. Super high quality.
These kinds of videos are honestly my favorite. I'm pretty new to the hobby so I don't even know what other kits and bits are out there. I can say though that I've put off building my Desolation Squad because I dislike the look so much, but I haven't figured out a way to change those guys yet. Hopefully over time I'll start to have a better spare bits collection to pull from...
Scott. I've been following your podcast with Jon, trapped under plastic, and listened to how you feel like you've been in a bit of a views rut on the channel. This video feels like a return to why, I at least, started following you in the first place. This is a hit!
Scott, I f****** love this video on so many levels, I love your openness and honesty on your last work, I love your approach to your new work, this feels like a Miniac video from 2 ish years ago when I first found you and I feel your passion for the hobby again more than ever, and yes Scott, lastly, I love you!
It's kind of expected that my modeling skills would continue to improve from watching so many talented painters on RUclips, but so have yours. These Desert Dhrukari conversions were scrupulously thought out and brilliantly executed. You nailed it.
In love with how your converted Drukhari look! I admire the journey, and your commitment to this army after 2 years Your army represents the hobby to me, exploring a space in the grim dark or fantasy universe and making it your own great work Scott!
They look flipping good Scott! You adapted and overcame, but a quick sculpting tip if you'll allow me, rub the tools on your nose! The oil on your nose is the perfect lubricant to stop the putty from sticking to your tools! And it's right there!
Love the conversion work, the scheme, the videography, everything really, to the point where you now got me keen on D Eldar where I wasnt previously. Seriously cathartic to see someone catalogue the journey from a project they weren't entirely happy with, to a place where that fire has been lit again 😊 Ahhhhhh its so good to have hobby content that isnt Leviathan finally! Was like I forgot the taste of fresh water, the sound of wind through the trees, or the smell of tendies cooking in the fryer 🥲
Wow what an improvement! I think what you said at the end of the video is incredibly important, finding your own happy place in the hobby and finding a comfortable way to get to where you want to be is what the hobby is all about! For me at least. Great video Scott
The knee-axe-wingdinger-things are actually also present on plate armour (though usually they look a tad different), they're for extra protection of the joint.
Dark Eldar were my first army ever after the range refresh (I think back in 4th or 5th ed). I was VERY thrilled with building them, the thinner bits were very easy to repose and mod. I found some similarly creepy models from other brands to kitbash with. I had no clue what I was doing or if the models I was making were even going to be legal to play. WYSIWIG be damned!!! I even converted an Eldar Wraithlord to the dark side, adding a bunch of spikes and chains. Come to find the Dark Eldar don't have their own version of a Wraithlord (dammit) but I played it as counting as a pain engine instead. Got my ass kicked a lot because back then it wasn't cool to teach the new guy how to play and everyone expected you to know the rules for every army in your head I guess??? Sadly I shelved my DE army and took a very long break away from 40K. Perhaps it is time to do a similar re-visit to my creepy little BDSM elves and re-learn their new rules and give them a new paint job.
Bro that molotow chrome is killing it on the helmet, gives it a" one way mirrior visor" look instead of the typical metallic helmet you see others attempt. Also glad you showed your dissatisfaction with the original scheme, giving ppl the confidence to change the schemes if the originals just aren't vibing. Good stuff
The scheme is definitely desert dark eldar and I like the narrative around that. Really pleased you have something that fits the theme and that you like to paint. I have some old dark eldar still knocking around, inc asdrubael and the og lelith, plus a few kitbashed jetbikes. Never settled on a scheme tho and then drifted out of the hobby. Am back painting now and sculpting too, working up a white scar successor chapter (leopard themed). This video does give me some ideas to paint up my dark eldar old boys tho.... Keep up the inspiring work!
Those things on the side of knees is part of the poleyn. It's there to protect from blows to the knees. The little side wings make attacks ineffective unless their from the direct back.
"I couldn't finish my 40k army because it took too long. So I decided to solve the problem by converting every single model with sculpting and custom bits, including troops!". Wow this person
Awesome work, I typically have no interest in this army but the one you did with the round helm reloading the pistol looks so amazing! Would just be a cool mini to build/paint to have around.
Totally agree with the drukhari helmets. Drukhari is my one and only, faction but I swapped all my kabalite helmets with heads w/ faces. That's really cool to go hard in the sculpting and modifying to the Corsairs to turn them more Drukhari, I kept mine as is.
That chrome dome is awesome! …as a craftworld lover, I've never seen a drukhari scheme that I liked, but I like yours. They feel more like some Mad Max inspired corsairs though which might be exactly what you're going for.
Love the subtler color scheme that lets the yellow and blue draw in your eyes/attention. You may be able to find some references for pointy desert power armor in the new Dune movie during the armored desert combat visions if you're looking for inspiration.
I love the desert paint scheme you came up with there! I think I'm gonna try to copy it for this "combat patrol" box of Adeptus Mechanicus I just picked up.
Love the change to content, I know it’s not that much different to like a couple months ago but it feels that little bit more person and like a journey (sorta like miscast but more Scott) love it man 🤙
Love the new scheme man 👍 More people should put in the extra effort into converting and kitbashing their models and coming up with their own schemes It's the funnest and most important part of the hobby for me !
This truly is a work of love, these guys may have a common evolution from the planet Remulak. A race of Coneheads known to consume mass quantities of food and kill a six pack of beer in one short mass consumption lunch break. Awesome kit bashing very informative.
Great conversions! My Drukhari paint scheme is based on the visuals of ‘what if a futuristic army supplied by Ferrari went to war?’ I’ve done my army in a black and yellow scheme. I’ve used gloss yacht varnish over the black and yellow to give a deep gloss finish to the armour on all the infantry and vehicles.
@@Miniac yes. That’s exactly the look I went for. I bought a tin of yacht varnish and did three coats to achieve a super high gloss finish. But only on the black and yellow armour plates.
I use Patroleum Jelly instead of lotion, more neutral and I also like to use it to lubricate various hobby tools while I am working and in a pinch it makes a passable Flux for soldering.
With this video starting out on: "I want to enjoy my dark eldar army, so I found a way to tediously kitbash 120 legs," I was honestly facepalming. Glad that turned around. the colour scheme is amazing and the Delf with the chrome dome looks so badass!
Ive always felt this way about Tau. As a mech fan I've always wanted the army. But I hate their heads and legs. My solution is to kitbash with other ranges and repose them to look unique! My Crisis suits have their hands in front of their chest which makes a hunchback look, they also have their chosen Drone hover where their head would have been with magnets! Super cool and I'm gonna keep making them look different! ALSO! My lore is that they're mercenaries and each have their own custom suit so I can have the freedom of making them all look different and their own schemes!
Was quite looking forward to this one after you mentioned in TUP it was coming up a few weeks back. Nailed it. Would love to see you sculpt and release a Drukhari character one day to replace the rather odd and stiff Archon
fantastic , ive never felt like Dhrukari matched their description , your conversions hit the theme spot on and the new scheme is dope dark eldar have always been the mad max equivalent of eldar for me, i feel that their tech base should have that visible eldar lineage but more dangerous and scrappy would it be possible to snip the existing warrior legs at the hip joints and repose them and fix or hide the seam ? ... ,could be a way to scale the project better with 10th being very fun to play and having cleaned up rules, you picked a great time to get back on this project id love to see more progress on this in future videos
I concur whole-heartedly about the helmets. Love the playstyle. Love the lore. But those helmets, man! Basically the same with vanilla Eldar, too. "Hi! We're Beldar and Prymatt Conehead!"
What is this silver helmet color? It looks awesome.
Molotow Chrome: geni.us/uzyiB
thx for asking
the same, the siler/chrome is really catching the light and attracting the eye
man such a great video this is top tier quality content@@Miniac
Came here to ask the same question. Awesome xenos filth you have there.
Huge upgrade on your previous scheme Scott. Very unique and thematic. Love the new desert dhrukari!
This video was fantastic. The scheme got a huge upshift, I loved seeing your methodology, and the sense of personal perspective as to why you were making them. Thanks for making this. Super high quality.
Love seeing the fluid trouble-shooting and hunting out solutions for the conversion work. The focus pulls were a lot of fun too!
These kinds of videos are honestly my favorite. I'm pretty new to the hobby so I don't even know what other kits and bits are out there. Happy to see you working on your Dark eldar again! Loved the conversions.

Gorgeous, seamless results - that first model looks like what I'd expect from a 10e refresh of the whole Kabalite kit.
It's kind of expected that my modeling skills would continue to improve from watching so many talented painters on RUclips, but so have yours. These Desert Dhrukari conversions were scrupulously thought out and brilliantly executed. You nailed it.

I have to say, this is one of your stronger videos. Well done. Pacing was solid
In love with how your converted Drukhari look!

It looks very much like the paint scheme I painted a friend's Drukhari many years ago, love it.
The shared pain of trying ot paint an army is my favorite YT content. Thanks Miniac!
Brilliant work! The new color scheme is incredible and your insights into your creative process are really cool.
Love the conversion work, the scheme, the videography, everything really, to the point where you now got me keen on D Eldar where I wasnt previously.

Top 5 fave vids from you easily, incredible stuff! So satisfying to watch you kitbash, create a scheme, and execute, all in one video
Damn dude, you definitely went far and above to make your paint job and your army significantly yours.
Much respect.
Wow what an improvement! I think what you said at the end of the video is incredibly important, finding your own happy place in the hobby and finding a comfortable way to get to where you want to be is what the hobby is all about! For me at least. Great video Scott
Oh man, listing the time for your scheme and how to improve on that, starts kitbashing a unique model. Love you Scott!
"Maybe it's too big, but I think it works pretty well" - I wish I could say that too!
The knee-axe-wingdinger-things are actually also present on plate armour (though usually they look a tad different), they're for extra protection of the joint.
They look great
That paint scheme looks absolutely AWESOME.
DAMNIT SCOTT .. I have a final to study for I don't have time for your fantastic videos! Why do you do this to me!!!!???
Miniac hobby montage with sick jams playing; this feel like Scott has his inspiration flowing!

5:25 Scott puts the lotion on his skin or else he gets the hose again.

Music choice was on point this video Scott! Gave it a Grim dark Firefly feel!
Sick scheme! I love the teal popping against the yellow. The khaki armour is also super cool!
Nice, I love the functional taupe…very much Dune vibes. And the splashes of teal and yellow heraldry are great. Keep that momentum up!
What is that chrome silver metallic paint used for the helmet visor?

Jay from Aeons just did a little wee, he snuck in "Piratical" 😂
Thank you so much! Every video about Drukhari is like a goblet of tears for the Archon ❤
"I couldn't finish my 40k army because it took too long. So I decided to solve the problem by converting every single model with sculpting and custom bits, including troops!". Wow this person
That quote is incorrect. Wow this person

Looking so sick. I'm making an almost entirely converted corsairs (counts-as Craftworlds) army myself. It's a labor of love!
I absolutely love the new scheme you came up with
Cant wait to see 3 blocks of 30 of these bad bois Scott! They look siiiiick

Great sculpting, very careful and beautiful
love the scheme and your thought process behind it. Keep up the good work sir
Thank you for sharing your experiences and opinions!
Love the videography, with the range of shots and camera angles..Great stuff.
Incredible work. Glad to see you do something different with the DA poses.
I liked the editing of this video, nice!
I think a full army painted with that scheme would be dummy gorgeous on the tabletop or even to display.
Awesome conversions!
Sidenote: You turned me on to Splasher with the song in this video, so thanks for that they rock so hard.
Love the new scheme, but the passion you had was even better. Hoping to see a finished army in that scheme some day. Great stuff.
The middle chrome dome, gives saurdakar vibes.
This may have been one of the best, if not the best cut and filmed yutube video I have ever seen.
That's a very kind comment, means a lot
MORE KITBASH/CONVERSION CONTENT SCOTT
These look super good. Really impressed, and indeed a 100 times better as the solid yellow ones.
Love the work you've put into this. The results look great. Would be thrilled to see it on the other side of a table some day!
Love the subtler color scheme that lets the yellow and blue draw in your eyes/attention. You may be able to find some references for pointy desert power armor in the new Dune movie during the armored desert combat visions if you're looking for inspiration.
Really enjoyed this video man - love the new scheme and would really like to see more of your adventures into this army x
Thank you for this video! It's one of those posts that incredibly motivates and inspires me to keep going with my own projects!
This is great. You did fantastic on those kit bashes. The most interesting armies always stray from the premade stuff.
I love the desert paint scheme you came up with there! I think I'm gonna try to copy it for this "combat patrol" box of Adeptus Mechanicus I just picked up.
Top vid Scott. I could watch conversion and painting all day
This scheme is SO much better, very well done!
i LOVE the look of the smooth silver helmet! guy-manuel de homem-christo has never been so intimidating
Wow dude that paint scheme looks amazing
Damn they look cool! Love the upgraded scheme!
And the conversions are too notch!
This video was a really fun watch! Also really well structured. I really enjoyed it, thank you.
It rubs the lotion on its hand or else it gets the hose again.

Nick is a legend. Highly recommend mixing your milliput with apoxie sculpt.
Its amazing how much a headswap really makes the Dark Eldar look less goofy.
agreed!
Right on, great video sharing a new and interesting way to Dark eldar.
These look pretty great. Would look amazing as an army

Rockin', man. Big Respect. Thanks for painting more minis.
This video coming out as I begin my dark eldar venture is the fuel to get my creative fire going 😁 cheers Scott 🤟💛
Awesome shoutout to Modern Synthesist, and great video!
That reflective metal visor helmet is just pure sexy.
What paint was used to get that effect?
@@cameronfotheringham6659I would also like to know! It looked so reflective !
