I’m a 22 year old Islanders fan. All I know is Giroux on the Philadelphia Flyers. Much respect to him and the Philly faithful for their outpouring passion.
I'm a 25 year old Flyers fan. I started watching hockey in 2010 and the first person I think of when I see that logo is G. Giroux is the greatest Flyer I had the pleasure to watch and meet. He will be dearly missed in Philly. In my opinion he is indeed the greatest player in the franchise for what he did on and off the ice. #28 will be hung in the rafters for sure. It's a shame he couldn't win the Cup here. The Flyers organization failed him. Hopefully he'll win the Cup with the Panthers.
"when the best player in the world comes up to you..." regardless of accolades or statistics I will never believe anything different. A lot of success in sports is happenstance. Most great players of any game never achieve the highest honor, that goes to say claiming anyone as "the best" is subjective depending on what you're basing your opinion on.... In my opinion, Claude Giroux is the best 2 way player in NHL history. The shot of a MVP goal scorer, the hands and vision of all time playmaker, the defensive prowess and gritt of a TRUE Flyer, and the poise and passion of a GOAT. I grew up idolizing this mans talent, the number 28 will forever mean 1 thing to me... "The 19th captain of the Philadelphia Flyers, Claude Giroux". Peace and Love Philly, it isn't the same without our Captain.
Thank you Mr. Giroux! You've earned every inch, and deserve to call your shot! I no in your heart (and ours) you'll always be a lifetime Flyer. The thing that will be the hardest is (even in the worst of times) that the feeling of "with G in the game there's always a chance" will no longer be there, and it'll take alittle bit to replace that confidence. You'll be missed dearly. Best of luck in Florida

Good for them both but I am sick and tired of Philly always trading there best players for Mediocre at best. Can't even give a guy the respect he deserves and letting him retire as a FLYER. They did the same thing with briar. It's sad and sicknes me. I will never understand Philly sports
To anyone saying “he was the guy during one of worst eras!!” Who was the best player he played with during his run as the guy? Voracek? Sid had Malkin, who could literally take his team to the final without Sid if he wanted to. Wayne’s teams won the cup without him. All great teams had multiple great players, this isn’t the NBA. Jake can be a piece on a Stanley cup team, but could he lead a team to a cup?

This was my exact thought when I heard what we were getting back it made me think of all the other trades the flyers have made where they give more than they get but hopefully he gets his cup then comes right back to us. We have to hope Florida just becomes unstoppable for the rest of the season
I hope the best for Claude even though iam a bit annoyed as F@#k!!! There is no measure of the impact someone like he has on the younger players in our organization. There is no measurement you can use to the ability to have chemistry within the organization. To trade our Captain for a guy who has 14 points this season is a slap in the face to we the fans. For Claude to waive his trade Claus is also a slap in the face. If we were without the key pieces this season which will be healthy next season, why trade the heart & soul of our team? Isn't that sending the wrong message to your organization? I was pissed when they traded Mike Richard's, now I am pissed they traded Giroux. Our front office needs to be held accountable for the mediocre play for the past 5 years. You need a better PHILosophy. You need an identity. Your stale coaching and prototypical Ice Hockey style is boring and NOT innovative. The FLYERS need a change!!! Try looking outside the box to help the organization, puck possession and practiced open ice passing to stretch the ice is two very lacking strategies in the NHL. As a Florida Panthers fan, I'm disgusted! Our offense was fine. We needed defense, and we sent off pieces of our future for a rental who doesn't address our primary need and who will be gone after the season ends. Terrible move by the Panthers! They should have let the Avs take Giroux and his losing stench. In talking to other fans, I'm not the only one who feels this way. We didn't want this.
G wanted to go the Panthers, it might not even be a rental he might want to stay. He wouldn’t wave his NMC for anyone else he obviously wanted to go to Florida for a reason.

Now we're saddled with a player who isn't what we needed, and a contract that might prevent us from doing something more helpful at the trade deadline. This is devastating. I can't belive the Panthers front office pulled this crap.
