Guys, reality is that not everyone has a credit card. Some people get a “prepaid “ card to cover the fees and control expenses.
Exactly! Credit cards aren't that common in the rest of the world. It's not that normal having debt from the credit card in my country. Or you may have reached already the top debt and can't spend more!
@@sharonalicea7998 we are not talking about "some people", we are talking about business owners. if you open a business you should have or at least get a credit card. I do not understand people who want to run a successful business but are not willing to get a credit card and who do not understand that a business will cost you a lot of money before it is going to make you any money. You cannot have an Ecommerce business without a credit card.

Not everyone has or can get a credit card. Etsy holding profit and trickling it out to the seller is ridiculous! It isn't their money.
They do pay it out. The point we made in the video is that it's not exclusive to Etsy. It can happen with any payment processor and is something everyone needs to plan for...it will always happen when you least expect it

All this “we just need to know that it’s really you” nonsense is happening everywhere at an ever increasing rate. What’s disturbing is that we uploaded enough documents to form an identity and allowing a low paid salary worker access. Since when is this okay? Why is this any of Etsy’s business if no crime has been reported? Why are all these corporations all of a sudden acting like law enforcement before any crime has been committed?
Because identity theft is rampant and they are on the hook for any losses so they have a vested interest in making sure it's really you.
Please, keep trying to assist Etsy sellers. This situation is devastating for sellers who have put in much hard work, and invested much money into their business. Maybe complaints need to go to the Attorney General. I filed a complaint with the BBB. We have to problem solve this together and find a way to make Etsy accountable to its sellers.
I started on eBay 25 years ago. I’m delighted with Etsy. No complaints at all! We used to have to wait for checks to clear before we sent out goods.
so this morning I finally opened a shopify account. apart from the algorithm completely dieing when I had to put on vacation mode for 5 days I have had no issue (so far) and my business is growing month on month but having heard all these awful stories I guess i cant risk putting all my eggs in one basket. I have learned so much from you both your are the voices or reason.
It seems like Etsy doesn’t realize that sellers are also buyers. If you mess with people’s livelihoods willy-nilly they’re not gonna buy anything off the site. The number of sellers greatly outweighs the buyers so common sense is a large majority of those buyers are sellers. Plus, it seems that all the sellers that run into these problems are the actual made to order shops needing people’s money first. I built my business on things people use weekly. So my customers either stock up or return regularly. I don’t sell gifts, I appeal to the personal shopper. I did my research. My shop fuels an addiction for a large majority of women that no matter the financial situation, they will find the money for. For I, myself, have no control over it either.
I disagree with having other means of funding a business
It's extra fees on what was 100% of her money. She's right for doing what she did. Why pay extra fees to borrow money on the revenue she generated? She knows her worth and there should not be additional fees on the money she makes. She was already paying the Etsy fees.
@@djlelu8521 if you analyze the situation rationally we are talking about very little money she would have needed to buy her supplies. She had an equal to 1 sale per week. You cannot run an ecommerce business without investing money or having money saved up. In that case maybe 100 dollars max worth of supplies per month. People have to analyze these etsy critics and not just blindly believe and accept everything that is said.
...and don't use the exact same SEO and mockups on more than one of your selling platforms or the AI will shut you down for copying...meaning copying YOURSELF.🙄

I am sorry , but 166 sales in 3 years is really not a lot. And it does not make sense when she says that she had days with 10-20 sales. If she had 10 days with 15 sales per day that would account for the lifetime sales of her shop. This is a bit of overdramatizing here. How can it be such a big problem if funds were hold back for a month for a couple of jewelry supplies. Again, we are talking about 166 sales in 3 years! I understand that it could be a problem for POD sellers who have thousands of sales per month and have to pay printify.
Jewlery materials are expensive. So depends on the materials. Again she said she has a shopify as well. And 166 is a good start. Please don't judge.
@@b_gaming1 i assume that she has less sales on shopify as you have to direct your own traffic there. And she herself said that she thought she was an established shop. Sorry you are not established with so few sales. Its another case of not being good at what you sell and blaming everyone else for it.

@@shageevideo if she has had consistent sales over 3 years this would equal to 1 sale per week. For 1 sale per week a payment reserve should not cause a total distress to not being able to pay for supplies. I am not critisizing the fact that she only has 166 sales. I am critisizing that a seller with that few sales does a youtube video about it bashing etsy. Again, someone like vlad who has 100000s of sales and is a high volume shop - being suspended for not paying a couple of bucks, absolutely understandable that he makes a video about it, especially as he also provides a lot of valuable content. But there is now a huge trend of people trying to make money off of youtubevideos in which they bash etsy - because they get a lot of views.

If Stripe or any payment processor puts a reserve on you on your own store, you have the freedom to get another payment processor or a merchant account and gateway. No options with Etsy!
The point is that it can happen to you outside of Etsy just as easily as it can inside of Etsy. Unfortunately leaving Etsy doesn't solve THAT specific issue.

We moved from Utah to Mississippi 2 years ago, but left my business operations in Utah. We are an LLC. The past couple of months we have been working to move the business also to Mississippi since the cost of operating is much cheaper. I wanted to make sure I did not have to change my EIN to avoid any issues with Etsy. I did have to hire a lawyer to do it, but there is a way to move an LLC from another states. It is called domesticating (I think). I am sure it is just a bit of extra paperwork rather than just closing the LLC in one state and forming a new one in another, but to me it was worth every penny to avoid any issues with Etsy.

Great video and advice as always. I have been trying to find out how to build an email list with my Etsy customers without violating any terms of service. Is there a way to set up my Etsy listings so their 1st purchase they get 20%off for signing up to an email list? Or is that an Etsy violation. Or do I message them afterwards? Or is asking for an email list from Etsy customers not allowed?. Just not sure how to create an email list from my Etsy sales. Thank you as always, on to the next video. You guys are awesome!
I have 3 shops that are all 2-3 years old. I tried to open a new shop today and it was immediately suspended after paying $19. What is going on with Etsy now

The same thing happened to me! I only listed one product, it was late in the evening, so I thought I'd continue the following day. When I logged on, it had been closed down, with the excuse that I'd violated their policies. It was strange that the new fee I had to pay to open the shop didn't violate their policies. They pocketed that alright.
A complete joke, I have 3 other Etsy shops all doing well.
I've also just built another couple of my own websites with Hostinger. They have great deals available and great customer service.

Etsy doesn’t enforce IP violations. Only if the IP owner reaches out to Etsy about a particular item/shop does Etsy remove the item(s). So it’s up to Disney etc to police the Etsy site. Etsy is only the middleman.

My store was hacked by someone in the UK. I thought it was resolved, but I keep getting references to like "I ship to UK" on my shop, and still getting UK hacker msgs on Etsy. Do you think my designs are being stolen or my shop hijacked somehow? Can't get Etsy to respond to my concerns.
Make sure you change your password if you haven't already done so. You could also change your email password associated with your shop
Thanks for responding so quickly. I did all that when it happene so that's covered. But I'm still getting weird random msgs from them and I'm seeing "random" strange things like a little box that pops up on some listings that says "ships to UK". Which I don't ship to UK. And once in awhile when I post a new listing, a message will pop up in messages from this UK person with just the link to the listing nothing else, no msg. I just immed send it to spam, which is what Etsy told me to do. (Auto msg from Etsy when I email them to try to get answer from Etsy.). This has been going on sporadically for four months. It's kind of worrisome and Etsy gives NO HELP or answers..

I wish a competitor that could be an alternative to ETSY would emerge. As a former seller, ETSY has become an object of hatred for me. My store was closed without any reason given. Everything I worked on for a year was wasted. There is no other business managed with such absurd arrogance. In the end, I am sure they will go bankrupt.
I have an online brand with a blog and RUclips channel. I just opened an ETSY store two weeks ago to sell a product and magazine I make. Made $60 so far. I guess it's the same as with any online marketing; algorithms are fickle and don't bank heavy on one search engine.

No they held my funds for 4 months, for no reason at all and I have been selling since 2012! So ridiculous. They emailed giving a generic reason saying they were holding in case of charge backs! Now I never have a single case of chargebacks. Etsy is so full of BS honestly. That was last year. It was lots they held from me. Over 10K! I was so mad.

With all due respect, i think the call GURUS destroyed the Etsy platform, selling stuff that's not true and, as usual, the big stores creating 10 different stores to have the monopoly in the business...and at the end the little stores are being affected/suspended.
The one problem of depending on Etsy for your only income goes beyond being dependent on the Etsy Gods to stay in business. If you end up being quite successful, and want to retire, you can't sell your business to anyone else. So the business itself has not financial value. Whereas if you slowly move to a website, then you have something to sell of value once you become successful. All that goodwill you have built over the years has monetary value.
I saw Vlad's shop at Tag Pup is down again. He hasn't said anything recently but I follow him too and wanted to see his listing photos to see the order of placement. That's when I noticed his shop has been taken down again.

166 sales in three years is not a lot. I've been on etsy for three years myself and have over 1500 sales, and i dont consider that a lot.
In the screen printing business you dont buy inventory of shirts usuly but do with other other stuff . So no not everyone has inventory of a 100 diffrent colors 300 sizes and 4 diffrent name brands be realistic with what you say not all keep inventory of evrrything they have for sale
But etsy is going to go down and fast becouse of the ai and no support the only business i know of that dont try to correct its own mistake

I bet most of it is communication. To just hold someone's earned money without a reason and without possibly compensation for doing this, especially if it affects the shops "integrity" as far as the customers are concerned. It's all about communication and a time discussion. But, I don't have a shop yet. Just checking to see what I'm going to actually do. Many options.

Just this weekend I got notification from Etsy for nonpayment of my bill, which I thought was very strange because I have my account set to auto pay. My card hasn't expired, so I thought this was SPAM because there was link to just click and pay. The email looked legit, but still.... The last 4 of the CC that they claimed they are trying to use isn't my CC. Prior to that, I had 2 spammers like my work and send weird messages. The one didn't write anything, but sent a blurry image making it look like a receipt for payment. I never got any indication from Etsy regarding any sales. Following the preset customer service links, I tried to report that possibly my account has been hacked. I double checked my CC and it was correct. All I get is auto responses saying that my account has been suspended and that I need to pay my bill. It's obvious nobody is reading my message to understand the issue. At this point, I am totally done with Etsy. Done trying to sell. Done shopping on Etsy. Supposed I will be turned over to collections for not paying!? Maybe I can talk to a real person then. I can't be the only one this has happened to.
I am really sorry for your problems. But maybe it helps to let them to call you back. I used this form of contact just this Saturday and they helped me with my problem. They checked that is me, but at least they looked directly in my Etsy and solved the issue.

@@lisaransomsmithartist2716 it is a link to a request form on Etsy site - I have found it in the forum. In the search from the forum type "call back", and the first post have the link in a response. Some sellers said that the link doesn't work, but it worked for me this last Saturday. They call back in less than one minute, so please be prepared to have access to all your information and to your shop, to be able to navigate in all the sections of your shop. I can't post here a link, so if you can't find it, please let me know if i can send you an email somehow. Is so strange that this link is not public, is the only way to talk with someone.
@@lisaransomsmithartist2716 I replied to you yesterday evening (for me) but the message was erased. So - if you go in the forum on the Etsy site, please type in the search bar "call back". The first post to appear have a link in a replay, someone was kind enough to post the link there. Some people are saying that is not working, but for me was all right Saturday evening (i am in Europe, so is a bit of time difference). It is form where you introduce your phone number, but you must be logged in. And to have at hand all the possible information, to be able to navigate in all your shop sections because they ask question to verify that is you.

LOL, but it is not funny...shopping on Etsy has become ?(no words) 2nd or 3rd time I've asked, since then...I have piled up another list of buying issue's. Buying? Like she said Customer service is "Garbage" Well it is a "Garbage Garburator" for buyers. Had to laugh at not wanting to get in her own pocket. So many new online sellers have no clue what it takes to start up. When we opened our first brick and mortar, we put a half million in it out of our pocket
