The ink you used is traditional Chinese ink produced in capital city Beijing, China. I've been using this brand since I was a kid practicing Chinese calligraphy. The written texts are in Chinese as well.
There are two varieties of this Pentel pen. The other one is longer and has a larger refill capacity. I've just ordered it from amazon after watching Teoh Ye Chie's refilling video.
This was so helpful Jellie! I needed to know how to refill since I was on my last refill and I was freaking out,so thankyou Jellie you are forever my hero! 😊
I no joke bought the Pentel Brush Pen and within the first day, I used up half of the ink. I thought it was just because I was playing with it a lot in the first day but it's nice to know that people run through it like crazy! This is an awesome video Jellie! I can't wait to continue using the brush pen and using this tip to save some cash (:
Thank you Jellie! Great video! I filled my brush pen with Koh-I-Noor Ultradraw ink, and it works great. Great for the environment, and the Koh-I-noor (Rapidograph) pen is non-clogging as it's actually technical pen ink. For people looking to add other waterproof inks to their brush pens, I'd advise them to dilute their ink with distilled water. Also, I've purchased a "Jacquard" brand syringe that's ALL plastic. It has a tapered plastic "needle" that could not puncture any skin - and can be found online or in crafts/arts stores. Keep up the great videos! :)
perfect timing! I bought my pentel pocket around yesterday by the time of this video! I do use a tiny plastic pipette to refill my old (disposable) brush pen~ anyways, thanks for keeping your promise to show how to refill the brush pens!
I am just seeing this now, and I am wondering how the pen has been? Does it still work?? or was it clogged after a few months??? as u can tell, im scared shitless of ruining my pen xD
i have been using my pentel with "Noodle's bullet proof black" fountain pen ink for months how and works like a charm, it is a bit thinner but i haven't used pentel refill in a while.
The price. That's why I use normal bic pens it's easy to use and if you get used to it it feels nice and you can do a really good lineart whit just a pen
My guess is that the language on your Yidege ink is Chinese - Japanese uses a combination of ideographs (Kanji) and syllable characters (Kana.) That box only has ideographs, so I think Chinese (and the website does not exist.)
+Peripatetic45 Yeah it's most likely 100% Chinese, but it's marketed as Japanese ink online so ah well :D I can only read Japanese, not Chinese I'm afraid~
Hello, what type of ink would work well in this? I picked the pen up in a rymans 3 for 2 when I needed some ink for my fountain pens. I only have my quick drying fountain pen ink (lamy and quink) and a thick waterproof india ink (seems like it is for Chinese calligraphy) I picked up from an arts store a few years ago with a dip pen. I’m not sure if it will be too thick to use. Thanks :) I think I might make it into a watercolour brush if I like it too
Thank you for the tip! You can have a cheaper solution: fill the Pentel art Aquash water brush with some good quality ink. I made this for years and it works well!
Thanks for sharing this! I always feel so wasteful using a new cartridge but was too scared to look into buying ink in bulk and filling it up from there. Glad to know there is a good ink that wont ruin the brush and is waterproof! :D Thanks for Sharing!!
the pentel brush pen does really run out very fast, this is great and thank you for sharing it ^~^ also yay I made it to one of your streams!! and you noticed me >///< yaaayy!!
I actually have the same ink, as it's brought in my local Asian dollar store (It brings a LOT of fantastic art supplies for a cheap price) I thought that i was the only one that used that brand.... BUT I WAS WRONG. It's really cheap, too, as it runs me $3 AUD (Normal ink usually is about $20-$40) So i use it a lot! So yes, i like it a lot!
Hi Nonamenut! It's a no-brand dollar store, so i don't really know... I think I've seen a Daiso somewhere, a long time ago, but i didn't buy it from there but i don't live in America so i don't know what kind of stores Americans have.... You should just look around in a lot of places, you would be surprised what you can find. Even online like Amazon.com or ebay.com, just check out other sellers of the same product. I hope this helped some-what! :)
+Nova-Art Thanks for replying :) I live in Australia and I saw Daiso's sumi ink a while ago but I was a bit skeptical with using it. Kinda scared it might ruin my brush. I think I'll try it out on an Aquash brush instead since I have a bunch of those. :P And since the ink is only like $3, I dont have much to lose
@Nonamenut Oh okay! Just go for what you feel. If you like, just pick up some cheap brushes from K-mart or something and test the ink out with those, so you don't have to worry about ruining your good brushes! And your right, if the ink is $3, then give it a shot!
Hey you linked the wrong inc in the description. the one you use in the video is made by the same company but a different version than you linked. To get the right ink just type in this exactley:Chinese Calligraphy bottle Ink (100g)
+Arika black A few reasons! 1) Time, I don't have a lot of it lately. 2) I'd watched other videos, I was concerned because of the ink I was using and 3) It's more honest and raw this way :B
Jellie, I'm from Twitter (Nope.sunny) and I want to know if it's a fan acc or you, that was like my tweets and stuff! Sorry I'm being weird because my favorite youtubers don't ever reply to me. This probably makes no sense.. O-o
Was it you or someone else that said they would do a "how to ink with a brush pen" video, or did I miss it? if it wasn't you, yes please can we have a video? XD
The ink you used is traditional Chinese ink produced in capital city Beijing, China. I've been using this brand since I was a kid practicing Chinese calligraphy. The written texts are in Chinese as well.
+FEI FEI That's amazing :0
Now that quite a bit of time has passed, how's the brush holding up with refilling?
There are two varieties of this Pentel pen. The other one is longer and has a larger refill capacity. I've just ordered it from amazon after watching Teoh Ye Chie's refilling video.
This was so helpful Jellie! I needed to know how to refill since I was on my last refill and I was freaking out,so thankyou Jellie you are forever my hero!
😊
Can you make a video about different inks and if they work with alcohol based markers or water colours and other kinds of mediums
I get my syringes at a Cattle FEED Store...
Where they have medicine to give shots to Cattle and Horses.
20 gauge needles/syringe
I no joke bought the Pentel Brush Pen and within the first day, I used up half of the ink. You’re excellent, thank you!
perfect timing!
Same :/
Be careful which sumi ink you use! I tried Yasutomo ink (non-shellac) and within a few days my brush pen was hard as a rock!
Ouch D: sorry that happened!
so.. basically the non-shellac are the one made our brush pen hard??
Watching your videos has recently turned me into a brush pen fan, so this video was really helpful: I'm going through so much ink already!
+Nightcore Imagination Yaaay thats amazing :D brush pens are excellent~
Thanks for the insight, I was wondering about how you refill it 🙃
+Jordan Randell-Tredgett No worries :D
I think it's so sweet that you're thoughtful enough to put trigger warnings before the video :)
That burn was hilarious, take that Pentel! But seriously, this was very helpful, I had no idea refilling could be that easy :)
Note for the brush pen; it lasts longer my ex 🔥🔥🔥
noice
i have been using my pentel with "Noodle's bullet proof black" fountain pen ink for months how and works like a charm, it is a bit thinner but i haven't used pentel refill in a while.
Here on my country (Portugal) they dont sell Refills on Art Shops so this was really helpful for me! Thank you so much!
you can probably order them online :)
Ezza Bryce Sadly I'm not allowed to order things online...
+Mary Universe aw sorry :(
Ezza Bryce No, its ok ^^
+Mary Universe hi mary universe :D
Hi +Jellie Bee, this video is almost 10 months and i have a Q, the brush is still working? Im afraid of ruin mine. Thank you
Thanks so much for making this video!! I own a pentel brush pen, (I got it because you recommended it, and I'M IN LOVE) and this was SO helpful! :)
sooooo, did it work? did it end up clogging or not? lol i have a pentel brush pen too and i dont want to mess it up haha
Ah thank you so much! I've just used my last refill and this was very helpful
Thank you for this I'm on my last refill so this was helpful
+fmafangirl 57 No problem, hope it works out for you!
The price. That's why I use normal bic pens it's easy to use and if you get used to it it feels nice and you can do a really good lineart whit just a pen
+Jaqueline Reyes I must prefer using a brush or a brush pen to get lines the way I want :) Everyone has different tastes!
Have you ever tried grinding your own ink (ink sticks?)
I'd like to, I've got a video about to go live which very briefly explains why I don't, but its mostly due to time constraints and lack of space :)
Hello, what type of ink would work well in this? I picked the pen up in a rymans 3 for 2 when I needed some ink for my fountain pens.

Thanks :) I think I might make it into a watercolour brush if I like it too
does that mean that the pental pocket brush pen could be waterproof and not smudge with watercolor (if you use a waterproof ink)
does that work with the Sakura brush pens?
Thank you for the tip! You can have a cheaper solution: fill the Pentel art Aquash water brush with some good quality ink. I made this for years and it works well!
The art store I have in my city sells a pack of two refills for like 4 dollars a pack.
+Nickels Fancylemon Wow, that seems expensive for only two refills, considering how quickly they run out
Thanks for sharing this! I always feel so wasteful using a new cartridge but was too scared to look into buying ink in bulk and filling it up from there. Glad to know there is a good ink that wont ruin the brush and is waterproof! :D Thanks for Sharing!!
Do you know it Staedtler ink would work well and not clogs?
Cool, I have another type of brush pen, but I might try pantell
+Future Mangaka It's really a quite lovely pen!
Thanks so much for the warning at the beginning!
+ash Very welcome!!
i love listening to your voice xD ill play your videos and draw! its just so pretty and relaxing!
Someone said on the amazon page that the ink you used in this video wasn't waterproof? Did they get that wrong?
does it work with 8ct cartridges
the mechanical ink pen can work too?, like staedler or rotring
I LOVE YOU JELLIEEEEE ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
+Christina Creates I love you too!!!
+Jellie Bee I LOVE YOU MORE ♥️😂
A love off - how sweet! #NotBeingSarky

HELP my pentel brush Pen has a wierd Tip how can I fix it ?
Really nice of you for that warning
I'm not scared of them myself
But I'm sure others are, respect man
Yep! That's me! After I saw the warning I just listened! 😂😂👌🏼
Hi! your brush is still working with this ink? thank you for the info :)
Hey you linked the wrong inc in the description. the one you use in the video is made by the same company but a different version than you linked. To get the right ink just type in this exactley:Chinese Calligraphy bottle Ink (100g)
Can you please let your viewers know how this ended up working out. Did it work long term or did it clog? Several have asked and you won't answer.
CHANTAL DOWLING have a look at when she posted the video. She said she would delete it after a week or so if it clogged.
Where did you get your brush pens?
has anyone tried doing this with copic multiliners SP instead of buying their refills?
the beeps at the end are much better now thank you so much :3
and interesting! I wouldn't have had the guts to try that to be honest ... :o
how long can you Draw with a pentel brush wir a new Cadrice sorry for bad english
Depends of how much you work with it.
Glimax Mine came with an worn Out bristle tip
Does the ink smear with copic markers or markers in general?
I've found it to work excellently with Copics! it dries so so fast
+Jellie Bee thank you for your response and information.
What size is the pen
Hey, if I buy bulk Pentel refills does anybody have advice for how to store them?
Use a tic tac box! I use that for mine and it fits 8 cartridges easily.
does the ink work with alchol based markers?
+Thepuggygamer MC Yep!!
why not buy fountain ink cartridges ?
No good for artists because they generally run if you use any wet media over them: watercolour or markers for example.
7:07 nice catch :)
personally, I would only use ink made to be used in water foutain pens. No india ink. :)
that's what I was thinking, I ruined mine by using indian ink, do you know any specific brands I could buy to refil my new one?
My brushpen is clogged !!!! :(((
I must hv done something wrong now. how can l fix this ??? plz HELP
Clean it out with a lot of water over and over
Neferura you could try alcohol to clean with
Make sure the ink you filled in there is not SHELLAC based. Chinese Inks are ink based.
this is late, but waterproof inks clog up fountain pens and brush pens. which is why water soluble is the best option
(it's chinese)
+IDK yes it is where make from
Thank you for your video..It helped me so much..:)
Can you text me what size needle you have?
Hi Jellie!
+Maria C Hii Maria!
I just got a notification saying "💘 happy Valentine's Day 💘"
I thought it was from someone I know
Turns out
...
It was an app :(
SAMEEE OMG XDD
I got this ink but now that I've used it to refill my pen, it's not working anymore! uAu
+CycoPuff Waaaah really? :0 Mine was fine, it was a touch drier but it was fine! I had to swap back to an official cartridge for a video :0
+Jellie Bee I dunno, maybe I clogged it with a different ink I tried before. thanks for the tips in the vid anyway though! ;v;
''Well empty, so regularly.'' BBUUUURRRRRRNNNNNNNNNN
This is what I use
Why would you put a video of how to refill a pen if you were/are afraid of how to fill it up. U should be prepared and know how to do it.
+Arika black A few reasons! 1) Time, I don't have a lot of it lately. 2) I'd watched other videos, I was concerned because of the ink I was using and 3) It's more honest and raw this way :B
is that ink waterproof?
Yes she mentions it in the video
I tried to do this, but my Pentel brush pen exploded in the process.
It's Chinese I have a 500 mL bottle.
Jellie, I'm from Twitter (Nope.sunny) and I want to know if it's a fan acc or you, that was like my tweets and stuff! Sorry I'm being weird because my favorite youtubers don't ever reply to me. This probably makes no sense.. O-o
+someoneodd Was the account @jellie_bee? :) If so, yep! It was me! I try to reply to almost everything on Twitter, it's my most active social media~
+Jellie Bee oh! Okay, thank you ^=^
Was it you or someone else that said they would do a "how to ink with a brush pen" video, or did I miss it? if it wasn't you, yes please can we have a video? XD
As long as the ink doesn't contain shellac, it will not clog.
Nonsense. Inks with large particles, acrylics, glitter, etc. can cause problems too.
It's Chinese ink.
damn that looked so bad*ss with that syringe
crocs🐊🐊
are people scared of needles?
It's a very common phobia.
I´m pissoff!! I just buy the exact same ink due to this video…the color is dark gray and is NOT WATERPROF … it's a LIEEEEEEE!!!!!
They’ve sent you the wrong ink then! Sorry dude
i ruined 3-4 of them trying to refill the ink
Pens or cartridges?
both
Sorry to read that. Any tip to doesn't broke mine when i change the ink?
listen to what jellie says here lol
Oh, i thought you broke them doing what she says :/
Btw its chinese
triggered.
early
+Cyril Draude Ironically, it's very late for me, 1am!! Zzzz
