+Sarah Gains Put on some decent headphones and listen to the whole thing. If you did so already, then it is clearly evident that you don't like Mr. Ian's sound anyhow, and thus, why are you even bothering to listen, and even more so, post? Anyhow, headphones on, go to around 2:52 when he starts adjusting the individual gain setting(s) - the low freq. gain in particular. Boom. That is some cutting, chunking, crushing tone right there. Guaranteed Ian's amp will please any metal OR hardcore player who doesn't need to hide behind the scoop-E(to the V)Q. That said, his SOD tone was, and still is one my favorite tones of all time. Not that it is full- V scoop, but, I'm sure that thee fully-Vee-scoopee-poopee is also within the depths of this amp - in spades. +Benji music has it right. Of course, +FortinAmps jumps in here and keeps with the peeps. Kudos
Those Randall MTS series are fucking great!! Wish Randall still made those. Randall should make another scott ian head with the eq and gain settings hidden in the back and one big knob in the front, that would be pretty cool!
I've had 4 of them and always agreed... Untik I got the Washburn V... And honestly... It shits on the King. Never did I think I'd find a V that was better then a Jackson
That's the problem with trying to figure out how gear sounds by watching a video. The only real way is to play the amp yourself with your guitar and settings.
"they should just change the name of that to 'anger' " (: "they kinda just cave manned it down for me" "Like Bruce Lee's 'one inch punch' " Scott Ian's sound and Dimebag's sound are two of the best sounds that i'v ever heard, this demo just needed to be about 5 minutes longer cuz Ian is 'demo gold', the dude just has a way of describing things /,,/
Holy Shiznit!!! When he dialed up that low frequency and was chugging away I almost ran through my sliding glass door looking for a stage to jump off of.
Fuzz Cous Fuck yeah man, Fistful of Metal is my Favorite Anthrax album. I think Neil Turbin has the best voice of all their singers, Although John Bush was great too.
That Low freq gain/Hi freq gain should be expanded on, could be really great cus I always have a problems with distorted harmonic notes on the higher frequencies
Randall makes awesome amps! My favorite from randall is the rm series with removable pre amp sections! Get them.modded by jaded faith or salvation then they really kick ass!!
I can attest that this video does NOT do the amp justice. I tried one today at my local music store and this thing is fucking sick! I tried both this amp with the respective matching cab, and a 6505 plugged in a Marshall 1960A lead cab and the 6505 sounds too digital compared to the sheer brutality and attack the Nullifier has. I've also owned a Dual Rec before and I can honestly say it pales in comparison to this amp.
Cool!!...But I don't understand something. He was HUGELY IMPRESSED with the Randall RG100 Head (Solid State) and a T.C Electronics Booster (No Tubes)....But the end Product for the Scott Ian Randall is 120 WATT TUBE AMP???
I see a lot of people on this thread know there stuff when it comes to music..with that said im going to buy another amp maybe a stack..im looking for aggressive metal sound right outta the box..any ideas?I was thinking of a peavey 6550 stack or valve king peavey 100 watt tube head..
I still don't understand how Stomp 442 and Volume 8 failed to be commercial success among metal goers. These two have some of the heaviest riffs there are.
Oh yeah, Scott Ian...? Just wait till my "Infinity Gauntlet" signature head comes out... and Uatu has no choice but to intervine!!!! ... but yeah... killer rig brother...
I want to add 34s next,,,6L6s are great ,but they are so between the road if u know what I mean, so with 34s it'll really cut through, especially with the 6550s in the front, but I'm curios about hard or soft tubes, if someone could help me out
That Jackson V looks eerily similar to a Gibson Flying V with the pickguard, hardware, control layouts, neck profile and inlays. If it wasn't for the sharper points on the V and the 6-in-line headstock, it could pass for a Flying V clone.
I feel as though that was the point, it has that cream colour, this classic pick guard and bridge, and those block inlays, it makes it look very very classic looking. I love it. I watch this video over and over again just to look at that guitar, it's a beaut
I used old solid state Peavey amps from the 1970's forever until I played through a quality tube head. I say quality because if you buy a cheap tube head (like the Crate stuff they've been putting out for the past 10+ years) your tone is muddy as hell. This amp by Randall sounds great clean but I don't like the gain channel on it, too thin. My main amp nowadays is a Line 6 Spider HD100 that I've had for 8 years now and I'll never need another amp since every tone imaginable is in it, or can be dialed in (or downloaded). I am going to check this amp out in person next time I'm at Guitar Center or Sam Ash. Wish he spoke about the 4x12 cabs and the speakers.
Clean sounds awsome..but ill take a Pod line 6 -(3 Distortion types, deep chorus, delay and for recording..an amp simulator for direct recording) I,ve had multiple pedals, rack effects multiple amp types and the line 6 is unmistakable in tone
My favorite guitar tones to this day are from the Anthrax Among the living album and SOD Speak English or die album. Don't care for modern metal tones I love the 80's thrash metal tones. Runner up Death angels 80's guitar tone.
Remember that his rig is set up to cut through a band mix not so it sounds great in your living room. The bite and upper miss are how you fill out a house mix....it will also be tweaked at the board.
Always important to remember this! The acoustics of a hall or music venue (or even outside open air) require very specific mixes and leveling, which do not sound very good in a studio or home environment at all.
Yeah but now he plays EVH amps. He does use the same descriptions for this as he does with the EVH amps. He used the Bruce Lee reference about both of them...lol.
You can either pay a westerner a good wage or you can pay a peasant farmer in PRC a couple of rolls of pennies to build you a Randall. Make the choice.
Alguien me podría que modelo es esa flying v con el golpeador cómo el dela guitarra flying v clásica Gibson porque está es Jackson pero no sé cuál es el modelo o es el modelo de Scott Ian
Dude I so much prefer solid state Randalls love my Warhead X2 in my personal opinion valves can just go too over the top when you turn em up and that's just me tho
I agree, but for me the best sharpest killer distorsion guitar tone i ever heard was a an exodus album impact is imminent , begining of impact is imminent song and only dead decides
I played Orange for years, but I just got the EVH Stealth, and it’s fucking KILLER. I wish Randall still made this one though; this amp is so damn cool. Obviously the gain channel is awesome, but I’m more impressed with that clean channel with the chorus on it. Absolutely sparkling clean and chimey. I run a dual amp setup with a JC-22 for my cleans, and this Randall is the only heavyweight high-gain amp that cleans up like that. Very cool.
randalls are great they have a wonderful dark tone that is voiced perfectly for brutal distortion. throw a modded metal zone in front of it and you got the perfect tone
Exactly, not "to" much gain. Just where it smoothes it out. I know "allot" of guitarists say...les gain...les gain....les ...les and then your almost on clean. It still needs a decent drive if you ask me. Esspecially for leads, if it does decent legato runs then your good to go.
like you hear with scott. not much yet not nothing. acdc typa gain doesn't do it for thrash. this guy'scott'' sounds like a really friendly honest one \m/.
Scott Ian is one of my guitar idols, but I wish I could grow a beard like that, I have the bald head and I have a Charvel Guitar, but my beard is like tiny, it just won't grow...
good amp, awesome infact, but i feel someone like hetfield or dave mustaine or even mick thomson wudda done a better job of showing it off, scotts playing to me just sounds so sketchy and sloppy
That is a KILLER rhythm tone, and that clean with the chorus was absolutely beautiful. Too bad they stopped making this one!
This thing has one of the best cleans I have heard in a while.
Yeah. It's crystal-clear
I just watched a video not 5 mins ago, where he switched over to the EVH head lol
I would too if I had the money to try different amps. Oh how sweet it would be
@@MetalMayhem1978 Real shit. I don't have a grand to spend on finding the right amp tone
@@michaelgraham9774 me either.
Late 1997? I saw that tour, Anthrax and Pantera, changed my life.
D Fins How are you still walking and breathing? Lol
lucky man.
I was there too . Sebastian Bach opened
Ive never been a bog fan of anthrax music but everytime i see an interview with scott ian he seems like such a cool down to earth dude
Same here.
Same
True
Same here, I think it’s the singer for me.
I want friends who can send me a Randall to try out!!
+Colin W when you become one of the big 4-5 metal bands in the world it will happen instantly.
Nah. Find the manager/president and start dating his daughter.
Sick Jackson King V he's rocking!
+JohnnyMrHattersmith I think thats a Jackson Double Rhoads - V not a regular king v shape... the body looks bigger to me
+GuitarholicTV No, it's actually a King V with old school Flying V style pickguard.
+Admiral Bongo Do you happen to know what pickups are in the guitar? I know they're duncans but which one's? SH6 Distortion?
Mr. Cunny Funt Either that or SH5.
+Mr. Cunny Funt I'm pretty sure the neck is a SH-1 59, because he's used that before. No idea on the bridge though.
I haven't heard tone like that in quite a while.
The last time was when I dropped a nickel into a blender.
MyButt CanSuckAFatWiener lol I see what you did there
+Sarah Gains That's how Nickelback got their name
+Sarah Gains Put on some decent headphones and listen to the whole thing. Ginger Jesus That doesn't change the fact marshall does not do metal.
John Yang Slayer
love the clean riff he was playing
Where have I seen you before?
me idk
+trever pitts are you a hunter in Oz?
+trever pitts Sounded like this love by pantera.
+trever pitts Sounded like this love by pantera.
Been loving Anthrax since the late 80s. I'd like to see Scott compare this amp to his Marshall with the TC pedal, side by side.
Those Randall MTS series are fucking great!! Wish Randall still made those. Randall should make another scott ian head with the eq and gain settings hidden in the back and one big knob in the front, that would be pretty cool!
"How dare you come in my room and have a better tone!" That was great.
I hope that Jackson starts making his V, I love it.
They did. Jackson Scott Ian model.
Best guitar I ever owned was a King V,no contest.
Have one 2,still fresh. It kick almost "to much" ass that guitar \m/
I've had 4 of them and always agreed... Untik I got the Washburn V... And honestly... It shits on the King. Never did I think I'd find a V that was better then a Jackson
"All the balls went outta the tone" Best. Description. EVER!
I like it. It sounds identical to the guitar tone on the Speak English or Die album.
That Jackson is fucking georgous, I want one so bad...
I'm sure the amp sounds great in person and is versatile, but they mic'd the cab wrong, too much treble and bite
+Ralphie Leonard Probably too close to the cab
I like a trebly tone like that sometimes. It's old school sounding. Gotta love different rhythm tones.
Ralphie Leonard too fuzzy.
That's the problem with trying to figure out how gear sounds by watching a video. The only real way is to play the amp yourself with your guitar and settings.
Well many times what might sound bad alone sounds great with all the band together.
Spreading the Disease and Among the Living are my favorite tones of his
"they should just change the name of that to 'anger' " (:
"they kinda just cave manned it down for me"
"Like Bruce Lee's 'one inch punch' "
Scott Ian's sound and Dimebag's sound are two of the best sounds that i'v ever heard, this demo just needed to be about 5 minutes longer cuz Ian is 'demo gold', the dude just has a way of describing things /,,/
He still seems so young. Amazing guitar player.
Randall was my first love. First amp I ever bought
my first randall was 370 watts
Mine. 75 watts boom
What chorus is he running? Sounds great!
Bas Mesa I see, a TC electronic Corona!
Holy Shiznit!!! When he dialed up that low frequency and was chugging away I almost ran through my sliding glass door looking for a stage to jump off of.
Gotta grab a kemper and swipe that tone right from the video
Deathrider one of my favorite Anthrax tunes.
Fuzz Cous Fuck yeah man, Fistful of Metal is my Favorite Anthrax album. I think Neil Turbin has the best voice of all their singers, Although John Bush was great too.
Man that amp sounds so great
2:53 Ok, now sounds better
one the best heaviest live tones i ever heard was Scotts sound
I just watched a video with Scott saying that his ultimate amp head is the Peavey 5150 3. Am I missing something?
That Low freq gain/Hi freq gain should be expanded on, could be really great cus I always have a problems with distorted harmonic notes on the higher frequencies
Randall makes awesome amps! My favorite from randall is the rm series with removable pre amp sections! Get them.modded by jaded faith or salvation then they really kick ass!!
That King V is AWESOME!!!!! Damn where can I buy one!?!?
my fav metal riffer of all time
I can attest that this video does NOT do the amp justice.
I tried one today at my local music store and this thing is fucking sick!
I tried both this amp with the respective matching cab, and a 6505 plugged in a Marshall 1960A lead cab and the 6505 sounds too digital compared to the sheer brutality and attack the Nullifier has.

STILL HAVE MY GOOD OLE RANDALL RG100G3. LOVE IT!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I love that Jackson take on a '67 Flying V. as for the amp, it sounds amazing! I wonder what the differences between this and the thrasher are?
189harvesterofsor
I saw Randy Rhoads play live on the Diary of a Madman tour. This amp reproduces Randy's tone better than the Marshall RR.
Nice, I would kill to see that. Very awesome album with a killer lead tone Thanks for that, Randy!
Cool!!...But I don't understand something. He was HUGELY IMPRESSED with the Randall RG100 Head (Solid State) and a T.C Electronics Booster (No Tubes)....But the end Product for the Scott Ian Randall is 120 WATT TUBE AMP???

I still don't understand how Stomp 442 and Volume 8 failed to be commercial success among metal goers. These two have some of the heaviest riffs there are.
Stomp is amazing! It’s my fave bush album
Problem with the labels
Killer sounding amp pretty epic.
Oh yeah, Scott Ian...? Just wait till my "Infinity Gauntlet" signature head comes out... and Uatu has no choice but to intervine!!!!
... but yeah... killer rig brother...
That is a damn sexy sounding amp! I gotta get my hands on one of those...
are those cabs available too? or are those custom made? look amazing
+JAFO-PTY They are avaliable too, google Randall Scott Ian Nullifier Cab. They come stock with Celestion Greenbacks.
When, or where did his EVH stack go??
I've got the Thrasher and Ian cab,,,also use hd pro x in the loop,,,added 2 6550s
I really never got into Anthrax but the tone on "its a mad house" is completely awesome
SCOTT and JACKSON RULE! Well, the amp is great too! CHEERS FROM PORTUGAL!!!
Hello Sire, from Nova Scotia? very well, Uh, do you having the wave cancellation machine?
lmayo are the mids and bass knobs broken?
I want to add 34s next,,,6L6s are great ,but they are so between the road if u know what I mean, so with 34s it'll really cut through, especially with the 6550s in the front, but I'm curios about hard or soft tubes, if someone could help me out
Does anyone know what tc boost pedal he is referring too?
Now he is a EVH guy ..go figured after the Randall sponsorship ended
Doesn't surprise me
Cool amp!
always like his tone even solidstate with a pre ....
That Jackson V looks eerily similar to a Gibson Flying V with the pickguard, hardware, control layouts, neck profile and inlays. If it wasn't for the sharper points on the V and the 6-in-line headstock, it could pass for a Flying V clone.

That guitar is a piece of crap. Somebody gave me 2 of them...I used them as firewood.
hey scott ian ............I like your guitar my friend
Jackson is awesome, has a Gibson flavor to it, like Hetfields kill em all Flying V.
I used old solid state Peavey amps from the 1970's forever until I played through a quality tube head. I say quality because if you buy a cheap tube head (like the Crate stuff they've been putting out for the past 10+ years) your tone is muddy as hell. does anyone know what that riff was he started playing around 4:06
+David's Various Emporium
Anthrax - Black Lodge
Sounded like madhouse tone !!
The chorus starting on 04:08, classic Heatfield clean, isn't it?
What song was it?
4:15 song name?
David Garcia Black Lodge - Anthrax (Sound of White Noise)
Low end chunk with clarity.
I clicked on this video hoping he would play the ”Death Rider” riff and it was the first he played :)
Clean sounds awsome..but ill take a Pod line 6 -(3 Distortion types, deep chorus, delay and for recording..an amp simulator for direct recording) I,ve had multiple pedals, rack effects multiple amp types and the line 6 is unmistakable in tone
Jackson Scott Ian model
Sweet Jackson!
does anyone have an idea of what chorus does he use?
+Fwtis Deligiannis
TC Electronic Corona Chorus
+TheFuckingVicious i was hoping that and i guessed right :)
I only know, because i also have one
:)
I run vintage 10 watt Gorilla amps hooked up in series.
nice guy class all the way he deserves all his success he is a very good person

Didn't he bail on Randall for Fender owned EVH amps? Like his jackson guitars.
What clean song is that
Yeah but now he plays EVH amps. He does use the same descriptions for this as he does with the EVH amps. He used the Bruce Lee reference about both of them...lol.
He forgot to mention the 8900 pedals in front on the amp
Too much money for an amp made in China.
You can either pay a westerner a good wage or you can pay a peasant farmer in PRC a couple of rolls of pennies to build you a Randall. Make the choice.
No racism here.
+Barano Unfortunately this amp if made in the US would be $4k which = very little in sales
no doubt
+Barano USA made tube amp? Carvin V3, well under 1k. Or a Peavey
I getcha dude , tube to me always kinda sounded a little too golden brown , not crunchy enough and shiz, warm as hell
i love scot ian awesome..
Sick! 🤟
Everyone in the amp review section of youtube is apparently an expert who knows more about production quality than the world's top guitarist lmaoooo
Damn right we do, that's why we're here commenting, and he's making money playing guitar.
mitch mitchelson no but as a metal fan i know what i like and this isnt it. Sounds good when he adjusts settings but not at the end when hes riffing.
I agree, but for me the best sharpest killer distorsion guitar tone i ever heard was a an exodus album impact is imminent , begining of impact is imminent song and only dead decides
That thing sound so scratchy
Pues si, el equipo y la guitarra están muy bien, pero los solos de guitarra brillan por su ausencia!
He uses EVh now and has ditched Randall!
I dunno why Scott would have such a problem referring to Dime by his "real" name. I've never heard anyone refer to Dime as "my friend Darrel" lol.
i miss being this simple as a guitar player.... now im a knob guy the more the better....
King of thrash rhytm tone!!! Deathrider maybe the best of bests rhytm! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
He uses the same as me, Jackson and Randall.
Deathrider riff is sick af
Rare footage of scott ian not wearing shorts
Exactly, not "to" much gain. Just where it smoothes it out. I know "allot" of guitarists say...les gain...les gain....les ...les and then your almost on clean. It still needs a decent drive if you ask me. Esspecially for leads, if it does decent legato runs then your good to go.
arjan snijder pretty sure mustaine ran alot of Gain 10 on multiple recordings. Metallica have gain down alot over the years.
like you hear with scott. not much yet not nothing. acdc typa gain doesn't do it for thrash. this guy'scott'' sounds like a really friendly honest one \m/.
He uses the 5150 EVH' now
I love Jackson V but HATE that Gibson pick guard love Gibson too
Yep
Scott Ian is one of my guitar idols, but I wish I could grow a beard like that, I have the bald head and I have a Charvel Guitar, but my beard is like tiny, it just won't grow...
good amp, awesome infact, but i feel someone like hetfield or dave mustaine or even mick thomson wudda done a better job of showing it off, scotts playing to me just sounds so sketchy and sloppy
Well, it's kinda HIS signature amp, dude :P
