Hearing the Perspective of Sisters that were born into this tradition was quite refreshing. I appreciate the openness and Cinergy that is taking place in the conversation.
Community is essential to our soul! It can be really difficult when we are separated from our community. Where are you located now? Maybe there are people around that you haven't met yet. Just a thought....
It’s sooo very interesting how relatable and similar our lives are. I appreciate the openness Iya’s were with sharing their lives with the world. Hearing them has enriched my mind and has encouraged me to be more intentional about my culture, you never know who’s observing. Which could be a stepping stone into that individuals journey.
Yes! Let's continue to share and learn from one another. We all have something to give -- experience, perspective, knowledge -- it is all important. As we dive into deeper and maybe even more sensitive topics, this will be important for all of us to remember. Thank you for sharing and engaging with us.
Beautiful ladies born into the tradition that’s awesome. Iya you had me on the floor when you said where I come from the Obeah woman is real. When I started practicing that’s the first thing my brother said “so you going start working obeah, you a witch now”? 🇻🇮🇻🇮ppl for you lmao.
LOL. It is a concern for Caribbean people for sure. That is also because we have associated the word Obeah with evil and wickedness. We definitely have to do some re-framing and education around the word itself. Thank you for your comment.
I understand. I think there may be more for us to explore here. Maybe people feel uneducated about government. Maybe people don't have a real WHY for voting, so they don't prioritize it. Or maybe you have people who do not believe in the system at all, so they feel like they should not participate. I think it is something deeper to explore so that people feel motivated and clear about voting and the importance of it. Just some things rolling around in my mind.
@ yes there’s definitely more to it explore like it’s a me thing and not a we, I’m thriving, my children aren’t educated in the system etc so what happens doesn’t effect me😏 any whooo loving the show
@@reneeclayking8367 Great point! So if we are practicing African Traditions and we don't believe this is a "We thing" as you said -- then maybe WE need to re-evaluate some things. I am loving the conversations too. I really hope they are helpful and that they are getting people to thinking more about their why. More to come. Just the beginning. Thank you for watching Iya.
Loving this dialogue! My children were in their teens/early twenties when I began practicing our traditions, so the dynamic is different. I am encouraged to continue to mold my lifestyle and be a strong example.💪🏽
Spoke to me a bit because i was one who jumped head first into this tradition with the mindset of "this what ima give my kids." Also, it made me be more conscious of being intentional. E ku se o
O ooooo. We appreciate you watching. By giving this to our children we are definitely being intentional about changing the fate of our lineage. May we continue to be intentional in all we do.
Loved this! 🙌🏾
Thank you for watching and engaging with us!

Learning. Sharing. Growing! Thank you for rocking with us!
This was so on time as I learn how to balance motherhood and culture in a place that doesn't have community.

Greetings I am loving the conversation., especially the part about being so spiritual that we step away from the physical.
Thank you for watching and engaging. I'm still brainstorming about ways for us to into balance. Conversations are a start and we have to do the work.
