I was blessed enough to get this recommended to me and I have to say, I love this video a lot so pardon the rant. I always love to see metal RUclipsrs be up and coming and I fully think that your energy and stripped back approach is more than welcome in this community and reminds me of some of my favorite RUclipsrs that got me into the niche to begin with. I've done videos in this niche for about seven years now, so I'm coming from a place of not only being surrounded with content but creating content about the niche itself; and progressively I've found that even less than the music, the community itself can be cannibalistic opinion-wise and, at points, its biggest enemy. The world operates in extremes now. You don't fit into a box (goes for both sides) and instantly, you're cast aside. And with the recent shit with Gojira at the Olympics or the Cannibal Corpse drama, it becomes more clear to me that while it does seem metal has become more watered down, the spirit is still very much there. You don't fuck with metalheads. And it doesn't matter who you are, where you come from or why--you are respected, you are treated like a brother or sister. People mind their own damn business because the whole point was to go against society. I feel like there is always going to be commercial viability and watering down. I just simply believe the social media age has made it far easier to dilute things for a mainstream audience, whereas popular metal bands of decades past were musicians first, popular second, not the other way around. Now bands play for the 'moment' that streamers/reaction channels make clickbait thumbnails based on. I have a massive critique for a lot of modern metal genres because of that very reason. But yes, I really appreciate this video. I've went on record a lot talking about counterculture in metal and why I don't like a lot of the stigmas and stereotypes. I think it sets EVERYTHING back. And that's coming from someone whose caught my fair share of hate and stereotypes simply for how I look or carry myself but like you said: Who the fuck cares?? You do what you want, you believe what you want. If you're not harming anyone, it's all in good fun and it's for the art. It comes with the territory.
