Body work: applying fibreglass reinforced filler on all the welds
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 сен 2024
- The firewall we fabricated is complete so now it's time for some body work. The first step of body work is to apply fibreglass reinforced filler over all the welded seams to add strength and durability. Fibreglass reinforced filler is a dense texture which makes it a) hard to apply and b) even harder to sand off. A simple and easy trick is to add polyester resin to the mixture to thin it out which causes a smooth application that requires little to no sanding 🚨

Chad I think when you are building a car you build it to what you like. I also think some people miss the point that you are showing them how you build . They can pay attention and learn or disagree with how you are doing it. But what it comes down to is it’s your Chanel and your cars your labor and your imagination. I for one thank you for it .
Well said! 🙂
Started watching on this jag build and at first thought you were a lunatic. For some reason I kept coming back and am now really enjoying this build. Love the way you treat the people around you from your wife to the seniors in the community, seem like a really good dude.
You can like it, you can hate it… but remember, this man is actually doing it, where as most people do nothing.
Agree
That's what she said!
Chad you are a gentleman , letting Your work speak on your behalf. It is very good! Jolene’s work is top drawer speaking from a head case who subscribes to 160 channels.
Chad, when you were spreading the glass on the firewall and talking about making yourself happy, I had a flashback to the soft spoken Bob Ross while has painting. I really enjoy watching you and Jolene make this concept art work. Keep making yourself happy.
I absolutely love this build because it is not the same old thing you always see !! Thank you bad Chad for making us realize you can do a build with what you got and still make it your own !!
Sir.....I love your videos. They have encouraged me in the restoration of my '69 Charger. The welding is done and I'm getting ready to fiberglass over the welds. I thought your idea of thinning the fiberglass be adding resin was genius. I bought 3M Short Strand Fiberglass and some additions 3M Polyester Resin. Upon mixing the short strand fiberglass, I found it does not need to be thinned additionally. I'm sure that it's more expensive than the NAPA brand you're using but it might save a step and the cost of the additional NAPA resin. Just and FYI.
Chad is amazing, extremely smart how he works, makes the project look easy. Your concept cars are awesome, love looking forward to seeing it come alive !!
I’m with ya brother I’m absolutely digging it! I was a bit skeptical in the beginning but in no way was hating as a matter of a fact I was and still am totally excited to see this bad beast in primer and done.
I look forward to watching y’all daily and appreciate you both for all you do👍
👍
Like the work on the firewall, that came out great.BELLYBUTTON thought. I am guessing there won't be any windshield wipers on this project, so i suggest split the windshield glass. Put in a piece of channel in the middle and then hinge the top front glass 2pcs that pop outward a couple inches. Think that would look cool. This thing is coming along nicely and am watching and learning daily. Thanks Chad and Jolene.
First video I've watched of yours.... I'm currently filling and performing my own DIY firewall on my 93 sonoma. Venturing on my first fiberglass fill job. And looking for some insight. Watching your video, gives me hope that all car guys carry the image that our own vision will turn out. Like you said. Do it your way..... keep dreaming chad
I enjoy watching an expert at work. I consider you to be an expert on the vehicle and Joline an expert with the camera. Adin & Abedin is also coming along nicely.
You should raffle it off!!
I think a host of a channel is doing him or herself a disservice to not ask people to like and subscribe. Only because the way I finally found out that is the way RUclips is structured and how they promote a channel.
I don't know or care monetarily how it affects a channel. I understand YOU, do better by having more subscribers and "likes & shares", so that is why I subscribe to your channel and hit the like button.
For the most part, I enjoy your work. Not for everyone. But you do put it out there, try it, if you like it go for it -- if you don't like it do it again.
For that, inspiring and encouraging someone to explore outside the box, I give two thumbs up.
Also really appreciate how good Miss Jolene does on the camera work. It is a shame that she can't be on both sides of the lens.
Great work for both of you, keep it up.
Listening to you is like a modern Bob Ross..... you both are classic
I can understand why someone would want to jump on board your channel. This is my #1 place to go every single evening when I want to learn, watch, and enjoy your imagination, your ethics, and your company. I'm certain most others who watch this channel feel exactly the same. Great people, great minds. Anyway, you two do not need anyone else joining you. You have just what you need as you are. I can't wait to see your new shop. Wow! I can just imagine :)
You nailed it, A concept is what's in your brain. Do what you love. Thanks
Love how you always recognize your Queen 👸 Chad!.... Greetings from Jamaica
Chad you’re a Tailor, but in metal. A tailor takes your measurements then cuts the suit. After which you go in for your fitting during which he makes marks with his chalk where it needs taking in or letting out. Just like you do. You take your measurements, make a pattern, cut your metal and offer it up for fit during which you take in or let out until - hey presto another Chad masterpiece. 👍👍👍
Chad, with Every episode your skills shine brighter and brighter, and you are truly mastering the verbal explanations, dialogue and opinions. Yes, Jolene is a 20, as you are as well. Be proud you are a 5 star team!!
Bad Chad, I'm 55 and a disabled vet here in America. I have several cars and trucks that I want done and always thought I would have to pay someone to do some of it. But thanks to you and some other guys on RUclips I'm going to just go for it and try to fix them myself. So thanks for sharing your knowledge...
Ring the bell people this channel is AWSOME!!!!!!
Chad gets back on the firewall. Jolene's videos continue to amaze.
I really enjoy the show and your RUclips channel, you and Ian Rousell are the only 2 guys that I have seen in a long time that can make something out of nothing. The both of you use whatever you have laying around and come up with some amazing sh*t
For the first few years watching RUclips I had no idea what “like, share, subscribe, comment” etc. was all about. I like your approach. I don’t mind a gentle reminder because sometimes I forget. The way it is done makes all the difference. There are salesmen and there are used car salesmen. I like your low key approach. I love steak, but I don’t want it rammed down my throat. Thanks for the filet mignon.
She’s going to be a absolute weapon when she’s done guys ,a lot of what you say and apply to your builds also apply’s to so many things in life ,keep rocking guy’s.Cheers from down under.
Hi guys the fire wall looks great.shes coming along nice.
Well narrated , easy to follow , no garbage background music ... just knowledge
Body work is a real man's job. Alot of labor.
As always great camera work Jolene and love watching your work Chad.
I agree that the call to action can be a bit disingenuous but a bit of like and subscribe if you like the content is what is needed at times.
We feel you do this more because you love what you do, for art creativity and because you can.
If you can get some income from RUclips whilst doing so, well hey that's a bonus!
Keep up the great work and yes we all would love to see Jolene's Bugatti finished - More so for Jolene than for us.
Nice looking good almost time to put outside with the rest of the other half finished cars would be nice to see one car get finished
Chad and Jolene you guys are an amazing duo where anyone can learn with the daily content .
Chad is the Bob Ross of body work... ❤
Thank you Jolene and Chad for another day of happiness in watching your work.
Watching you work is lots better than working myself. I may not care for the looks but that's just me. I am not cutting it down , keep doing what YOU like ...that's what it's about...
Still on the fence about this one, but I must say, it’s a really interesting build. Thanks as always for the terrific content, and the chance to watch you work your magic. 😊👍👍
There are many things to like about your channel, and today's episode was no exception. Both my wife and myself really like how you not only compliment Jolene's looks but also her brains. The words of Life Wisdom that you utter while working are also well worth the time spent listening. And of course seeing the skills required to make automotive masterpieces such as yours is always worthwhile. Thank you for sharing your efforts with your viewing public, we will always be liking and subscribing whether you ask us to or not.
To take the art of your and make it happen. That's a gift. Keep doin your thing.👍
Your call to action thing was soo freaking awesome. Jolene is absolutely fabulous and I share and talk about you guys all the time!!!. Stay you❤❤❤
I like the way the dash reflects the windshield “widows peak”. At first I imagined the dash to have a reversed point aiming towards the front of the car. Chads idea is better. I’d love to get dirty learning in your shop. I like how smart Chad is and yet he seems humble. Good man.
The Jag has got my curiosity as to the look when finished. Thinking fantastic!! 👍👍
Your whole idea behind the way you work is fascinating as you are continually changing and adapting each vehicle as you work on them and rather than saying this is how to do it and the only way you show people how you do it and what works for you but also say that do what works for you. You give people options. Each of your cars are custom concept cars because they are your conception of what you want the car to look like. Keep on doing what your doing I enjoy watching your show over here in UK
I still haven't quite come around to this roof line yet but Chad is a great craftsman. If he thinks it, he can make it ! Fantastic workmanship. Thanks for the video Jolene.
Chad had many challenges arise welding the firewall. I’m sure the finished product will look great!
Well played! Gotta appreciate a man who knows how to appreciate his woman! A well placed compliment is worth more than anything money can buy 👌
Love your explanation of Custom and Concept. Perfect 👍
Loving the work that you do-and you doing the work that you love.Keep on keeping on
Only a very few have a brain like this guy, his a genius
Hey Chad and Jolene , really like the free flowing ideas , I find myself talking along , funny .When walking around my cars I find myself what if this looked differently, especially the front end , I just need to put my hands into the ideas and learn the tools . Always been a car guy ,It fills my days with quiet active moments , the cars that interest me for particular reasons is those lines on this model , a Mercedes 300cd , years 77-85 . They are easy to figure mechanically and run fore ever , My interest is to change the lighting front and rear , lowered on bbs 17s which I’ve acquired . So out of the 3 I’m currently working on all are currently tagged and inspected and drive well , so it’s your encouragement , always at the yard , having fun finding this really is what custom is all about .
I think the saying is (not just a pretty face ) she is a smart cookie , and your lucky guy to have her . I love ya both , keep up the happy thoughts !
Yeah I never see Joanne she is always behind the camera but she is the key to project I thank her because I learned alot from you because of you both
Building cars is like a good ole' B-B-Q.... Low-N-Slow! Luv from Florida!
I knew what you needed to do while watching. I don't build cars but my brain sees what your doing g. Understanding all you say. Just I compliment. Invested a few yrs watching. Keep on kids
That jag is coming right along, can’t wait to see it primed and ready to go.
Hey Chad, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy all your videos. I understand that you like to do things that haven't been done before. It makes life interesting and it's a challenge. Not everything you do is going to be popular with everyone, but you aren't building them for the masses. I try to keep an open mind until I can see the finished product. Thanks for all you do and we'll see you next time.
So Happy for Jolene. Her car is finally going to get finished. Looking forward to to episodes.
The body of the jag is really starting to take shape now and the firewall is looking way better without all them holes in it. The camera work is great as normal jolene you really do know how to get in there and get the shots. Keep up the great work the both of you 👍 👏
Jolene is awesome plain and simple
Last time I heard concept cars was in the 50tys . Boy there were some great concept cars . Few made it into production and some were just scraped . Thumbs-up Jolene on content and your hard work is not overlooked ! Thumbs-up guys all shows are not just helpful but entertaining as well
Buy the Wildcat, it's right up your alley. Don't change too much, though, those cars are amazing as-built. And nothing sounds like a nailhead, so make that work too.
This will be bad ass when your done. Can’t wait.
Keep on making these great videos. I've learned so much and and enjoyed them in South Korea.
The Jag is looking different good. But what I like best about your videos is the down to earth upbeat positive attitude .
Thanks Phil
I've said this before. Do you, build for you. You will always have 100% customer satisfaction and that's about as good as it gets. If someone would say I don't like it, well you can tell them I didn't build it for you. I built it for me.
YOUR The Man CHAD ... Keep up the great work 👊
I have to say the firewall looks much better than it did before. Ready to see it with the hood and fenders on it. Then a complete primer coat. Next up get the racecar ready.
Thank you for explaining what you are doing and why so the ordinary guy can relate. And thank you Jolene for showing it to us. Ontario fan
This build is getting near the end, can’t wait to see the final outcome, whoop-whoop
This is by far one of my favorite RUclips Chanel’s love all the work you do and all the information that gets packed into every video. keep up the good work and wait to see what you come up with next.
Jolene is a get it done lady, smart, funny, easy on the eyes and hard worker. Doing all she does to get these videos ready to go.
hi chad, you've really got this car headed in the right direction. i would love to see it fully finished and cruising the streets. i love the slim side windows, they look way cool from the side.
I like how you have modified the doors and how they integrate with the dashboard line, but I didn't understand how you will do the exterior handles.
Nice work with the firewall. 😎👍
Greetings from Switzerland
@@donaldhalls2189
So it is windowless and without external handles, a bit like the old Viper.
I didn't know, thanks for the info.
The build is looking better all the time Chad and Jolene. Cheers everyone
Thank you Jolene for your talents . And making videos great you guys rock and part of our daily life's keep up the good work.
The fire walls looking very clean good job buddy
I agree with you about custom and concept the jaguar is cool and I dig the concept.
Mr bad chad you are one of my automotive idols hands down. True craftsman, no bullshit straight shooter.
Learn from you again and again, every day. Don't miss a show.
Chad/Jolene you are the best 😊
Excellent point you made...wait until it's done to see if you like it. Older views of the Jag showed it with the front end resting on it, and wow, that made it work for me.
Thanks for the update!
Its looking really cool. I enjoy watching 👀 You,Jolene, fina and jimbo
I love this build, I have been watching since the show on discovery and only two builds that I was like I don't know about that were the Pinto and this Jag but I've grown to love this build and I would like to thank you for the work and the education you give us, much love and keep doing what you do.
She does do a good job on the show !! But I also like that your show can be watched even by kids , a clean show you can watch with your kids! Good job guys you make a great show
I started watching you on TV and I seen, you on RUclips can I tell you I'm freaking happy. This build is bad ass.
Thanks Chad and Jolene, for the entertainment, I enjoy watching your vids!!
Your on every day ! EVERY DAY CHAD ! Not all channels or shows on every day so I find watching your show I More entertaining with more content . You just have to be doing something each day to keep it fresh and new how do you keep people interested ! Keep it real ,entertaining, spontaneous, fun, enjoyable ,educational experience! You can do it your way or my way in the end I'm doing it my way additude is what made me love this channel so I hope others see that to !
The best time to call for action is at the end…… I get so wrapped up in your videos I forget…… keep going you are both inspiring
Thanks for the hard work you two
@16:00 - Did anyone else notice how he channeled Bob Ross. 😆
Take as long as you need to build a dream car I say ! But if your ready to get it back on track we're with you all the way to the end ! Super excited about it. Thumbs-up Jolene the Bugatti your Bugatti will soon take center stage at the Hiltz shop are you excited to ? Patiently waiting for an epic return to build Jolenes Bugatti ! Thumbs-up Chad and Jolene and Aidyn plus Jim the Hiltz team players !
This is the first car I have watched you build, love it so far, hope you go all the way with it as I would love to see the finished look
I agree completely with you about waiting to see the finished product before making a call on if it looks good or not. I was one at the start that thought this looks like shit, what a waste of a classic, but as it's gone on and grown well it also has grown on me,so i apologise for the doubt guy's
Keep them coming Hiltz Auto Co., just a concept I had. Jolene great camera work.
My boyfriend and I enjoy watching you, but have trouble hearing you, have to put my tv on blast...lol but still haves trouble, very low seams your voice comes in and out...keep up the good work God Bless
I'm glad you can take your mind off what is happening in Canada wish I could. Great show guys and girls . Keep up the ingenious work you do !!!
Why? What's happening in Canada
A concept car has its own personality.
You are certainly a great artist with a lot of canvases You and Jolene do a wonderful job . Great show
You two make a great pair. Congratulations.
Definitely one of a kind!😊
Concept car is a great term for it, I would also describe them as art cars. Keep it up bud
