extremely useful instructional packed with details. the tendency for front players to go back to center court (while not always wrong) comes from singles training. many instincts players have in singles are wrong for doubles and need to be reprogrammed, which is why some amazing singles players dont play doubles so well. i especially like the point that you are not only covering the tramline reply but at the same time your positioning communicates with your partner that he will handle cross. if you dont understand this lesson and want to play doubles, watch it until you get it, and pay careful attention to placement of the dominant foot, and note, as dean pointed out, this is a racket-high&ready move
i would add one thing here that was shown but not discussed, and that is that the footwork here is low and smooth and in continuous contact with the floor like @3:52. there is very little time to reply in this situation, so any jumping or choppiness of footwork can take you out of the moment

Yes good point about the footwork, we could have mentioned this is off a flat first shot, if the first shot is in a downwards direction you could maybe come up more with the legs due as the return we be on an upward trajectory.
Thanks as always for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it. 👍

    Really great video guys.
It's refreshing to see a badminton channel expand their videos to include more advanced ideas.
So often I look at a video, i.e., "How to Improve Your Smash," and the bullet points are more often than not so basic.
I mean, it's great in its own way, but I really appreciate you guys going way more into details and exploring the tactical side of our sport.
If you ever want to go full nerd mode and go even deeper into the details of technique and tactics, I'm all here for it :D

Great video! You focus primarily on the forehand side in the video. Would all of this still apply if the kill is on your backhand side, or are there some slight changes? My backhand kills are often not as accurate as my forehand kills!

We covered the backhand side later in the video. Small change to the grip on the kill using a thumb grip then non racket leg back for the interception.
In regards to where to hit the initial kill the likely replies would stay the same unless the opponent is trying to hit a cross court using a forehand grip to cover their tramline.
As we mentioned in the video the net player has to be aware of strengths/weaknesses/setup of the defenders.
Hope that helps and thanks for taking the time to comment 😀

I recently bought a Yonex arcsaber 11 pro.. My friend advised to get a head protector tape.. does it affect anyway?

Anytime you add something to a racket to will slightly change the weight. Personally I’d prefer to see the colour of the frame with a few scratches than hide the colour of the frame under tape.
However it does come down to personal preference.
How do you find the racket? A very popular one at the minute.

We would happily send to India. As we said in our Instagram reel we appreciate everyone’s support no matter where they are in the world, which is why we would ship the racket worldwide to 1 lucky winner. Make sure you enter 😀
      Hope you enjoyed the video.
