I must say that this is the perfect opportunity to do the front end swap you wanted.
If he can find one and can also afford it that is
Yeah with doing pretty much and entire new engine and turbo hes going to be tapped out. Need more ads. This is the only channel I'd be legitimately willing to watch like 10 minutes of ads for a 22 minute long video. Whatever helps the man that got me into forza
Dillon Pulliam Maybe I should put a playlist together with a crap ton of his videos and then let it play in 10 tabs 24/7
@@Alasus47 share if you do lol. I've got a few devices I'd play it on
@@dillonpulliam6465 You can also help him out on Patreon/merch
Sir I think you mean the magic spool bus
LIZARDSKIN _ this needs to be a thing
Vote to Change Adventure Bus to the Magic Spool Bus
This has to be the new name
#spoolbus
Haha that's pretty good.
You should put a modern Ford front on the bus to make it look modern
he's planned it, sort of
That has been the plan since the start, he just hasn't found one.
Yes, a modern front end makes it look modern, you sir are a genius
@@DG_427 there is plenty of pay and pull scrap yards all over the US that match that trucks build
modern front end is modern
Paint the engine bay while your at it.
The bus isn´t painted, it´s some sort of compound and I don´t know how well that would last in the hot engine bay.
@@Darthadios yeah it's plasti spray but he could maybe try to spray paint the bay black
@@rubenbraekman4515 engine enamel
Door jams too
@@Darthadios you know he can just buy yellow paint instead of using plasti dip in the engine bay, right?
Hey now maybe you can fix the issue that it cranks for two days before firing.
Truuuu
That’s glow plugs
@@charlieburton9967 nope, it should light off right away even without glow plugs unless its under 15 degrees out. Usually its injectors that make these things hard start
@@dakotadriggers8838 I have a 6.0 with 211k stock injectors, can confirm that it fires instantly instead of 13 years of cranking after new injectors.
Was probably the blown head gaskets
This is not an L boys, this is a major W. The bus got horrible gas mileage and make no power. The bus needed this.
You should look into holset turbos, they're the turbos used on cummins and on some scania semi trucks (dunno if you have those in the us but basically they're really good european semi trucks) and they are pretty cheap compared to equivalents from garrett.
Fleece Cheata turbos
Scania trucks don't exist in America, but I played enough Euro Truck Sim lmfao
@the_l0stchild Yeah I know lots of people uses hx35's on rb's, jz's and mostly on bmw's here in europe it's very common to see m20's, m50's or m52's with h35's or hx40's for more powerful builds. I have no idea which you would need to pick for a 6.0 maybe a hx40 with the biggest cm² exhaust housing or a hx50 or even an hx50mfs, but I'm pretty sure the guys at that diesel shop could help him pick the right one.
@@imnota Why i commented the fleece cheata turbos. they are stock sized, but internally they will crank out 700hp if needed. No extra space or anything required and will look stock.
@@brandoncaldwell95 That's a good option as well because I'm assuming it uses all stock piping since it's stock housing. Practical
That 6.0 will have 500 horsepower for about 23 seconds, then automatically change it's own oil. Guarantee.
Good 6.0 joke but no, it’ll last with all preventative maintenance he’s doing.
LOL. Not if he does it right.
Lmaoo
@@hunterj2253 i havent watch the video yet but no amount of "preventative maintenance" will save that motor. He needs to address some serious design issues like EGR, FICM, oil cooler, and headstuds. (Source: blew the familys 6.0 three times: egr, melted piston, and windowed a block)
Yeah and they turned down the boost each time. Very sad
Guys at trucks work place: how big do you want your turbo???
Gingium: *YES*
You should definitely swap the front end with one from a newer model :D
Yeah he said he wanted to do it before
i hope after this the bus is getting a oil pressure gauge
Underrated comment.
It actually has a factory one on the Dash.... I didn't see it...
@@_Gingium_ damgium you might want to keep a close eye on it in the future
@@_Gingium_ that guage is actually a dummy guage that going to a preset postition when the sencer gets like 6psi of oil pressure so its not really my 1997 expedition has the same type of guage.
Needs a full suite of real aftermarket gauges. Alot of ford gauges are basically dressed up dummy lights
O-ring those heads. If you're doing everything else, do that as well.
Another good 'bulletproofing' trick is getting the camshaft sprocket and the camshaft dowel pinned. Once your cam and sprocket, which are press fit together, are ready for reassembly, a small hole is drilled into the seam between the two, and then a hardened pin is pressed into the hole, locking the orientation of the sprocket to the cam.
Might want to look at an EGR delete/re-route kit too, depending on how emissions compliant you want to be. Good luck!
You are already in there you might as well I wouldnt think labor would be much more since it's already out
@@aaronr1926 The toughest part for him now is finding a reputable machine shop that will stand behind their work, and most importantly do the work correctly.
His best course of action would to fully disassemble the short block and get every part ultrasonically cleaned at the very least, then do basic measurements on everything to check for wear, stretch, bends, ovalling, debris, and damage.
As far as the block goes, they are strong, but getting it magna-fluxed would alleviate headaches down the road. After that, spend a good bunch of time with a needle scaler, buffing pads, small sanding scrolls, wire wheels, and a tap set to remove rust, dirt, grime, casting slag and overflow, and prevent contamination down the road.
IronGigant00 I hope you don’t wanna use wirewheels on the block to create extra issues when putting your heads on
@@fbi6540 you don't wire wheel the head mating surfaces, you wire wheel all the cavities on the rough casting surface where don't and rust builds up
You can port your head, you will get extra power, basicaly it's free, it just take time.
Itll take him like 90-100 hours of work to do all that
"The engine has to come out the front and the whole front end has to come off" welcome to Audi ownership lol
Pete agree 😂
B5 life
True 😂 had to disassemble the whole front on my B5 to change my alternator
Pretty much any AWD modern vehicle. My Countryman is the same. Either you pull the engine or you pull everything on the bottom
A6 Gang LoL, I remember when I had to take the front bumper off just to zip tie my ac part
Great to see that you have found a good shop where you are comfortable filming and that you are making the most of a rough situation.
Man that gun is awesome, it is so satisfying watching those bolts come out so easily
It's amazing how clean the internals of an engine are, on old engines. You see this rusted block and you expect the internals to be "old looking" and they still look brand new.
When the tech you have working on your motor has a tattoo of it, you know you picked the right person for the job
Man this channel is getting better every day! The content is right up there with the very best, then thinking of Caleb making this content all by himself makes it even more awesome!
This build is honestly one of the coolest one's I've seen yet, and it hits right at home next to my 6.0 F350. I've somehow gone 211k on a 100% stock engine, just a week ago did I do injectors. Once I have enough money I've been thinking about doing the same sorta project up here in Wisconsin. Overall fantastic build, and I hope the best for it!
I don’t know why but I’d got so exited when I saw the video and the thumbnail was about the adventure bus 😁😁😁
Oh yes I LOVE seeing the clips of the engine coming apart, really great seeing how everything looks and works
So glad you are getting this sucker built and back on the road, it will definitely be one bad bus with all the HP and torque!
So happy to see you at 402k as you deserve every sub, cause the work you actually do to your cars is the definition of a DIY.
This project is looking more and more expensive. Hope it all goes smoothly!
Glad those Guys let you Film everything they seem very umm... ? knowledgeable? Much love from Germany and i hope you become a bigger RUclipsr one Day because you deserve it and moar money for Projects!!
Nice! I was going to ask if you could clean and rustproof the chassis while the engine is out, but i see that it's already planned!
Having owned many 6.0 fords, I suggest going with Warren Diesel injectors. Never had a problem out of any of my trucks. And they come with a warranty.
My school district still uses several busses older than yours. Most have had at least one engine replaced. Because putting 6.0s in full size busses with crazy drivers was a smart idea. Glad you're getting it all fixed up to keep using it. Switch to Cummins eventually though, even though not now
Noah Walter yeah he really needs to ditch the shitty Ford engine
I don't think you should plan replacing an engine twice on a bus. Do it once, do it right, and it should last for 150k miles easily, which is probably more than he'll do in this until the frame is rotted away.
@@zerohourdrift eh i say stick with the built engine
Looking good. I would say 7.2 l built up,or 351 with a blower.
Front end conversion would be nice, but keep it original.get it back in yellow, with Big Red Express label on the sides!
This video deja Vu’d my brain to 2004! A lot of these buses are down in Central America. I saw a local KMEL radio sticker and kids tag up bullshit inside. I had so many questions. Did they drive them down? How the eff do they make the Push button start fire up like a race car? Running so strong on the Pan-American Highway. They could 1/4 mile race them. So cool you’re doing this! Thanks.
I actually lol’d when you said you were gonna send the blown parts too someone. Pretty funny and cool for someone! Keep it up man.
Perfect time to do the front end swap and fix that 30 second start time crapola. Also, perfect time for some 19.5" wheels and new tires that fit and look cooler. Maybe convert the rear to super singles and make the fronts wider?
Watching someone else take a motor apart is so much more satisfying than doing it yourself
You should do some rust repair on the bumper mounts while the engine is out
It's time for SUPER BUS!
Edit: I'm really liking the music in this one.
that hat ages you by 20 years when you wear it!
Through My Eyes Oldium
Just went and joined Patreon, super excited for everything!
Thank you!
Nice to see something a little different from the average bus life video 😂 good luck with it, am sure it will be a beast when finished!
Awesome mate... Adv bus really nice. Plus with the new heart of 500hp inside, make me wanna have one.
Enjoying your content, we need more Gingium's in France
Gonna sound like a jet when it's done! If you don't go for a bigger turbo, put a wicked wheel in the stock housing or something
NOW we can call it the Spoolbus ✌😎
@gingium
Please do not POR your frame and body. It will trap rust underneath the coating and if you don’t prep incredibly well, it will just peel off of the metal. Use an oil based spray like New Hampshire oil undercoating. An oil based undercoating will work so much better. Upvote so gingium sees this!
That is the type of vidio I like to see... Learn something, and see progress on a project. That type of vidio is why I am a subscriber. Hope to never see another garage rehab style vidio
Hey Gingium if you have more sponsor offers please do take them as i think most of us wouldn't mind, especially since the money goes into your projects, i wouldn't mind at least.
Gingium IS always with the unique builds
Gingium IS will be remove and you ARE will be putting
Holy s*th, that intro with the transition into the video was sick. Felt like this will be an amazing video that I'm about to watch. As always
I’m not a diesel guy by no means, and I’ve got to know some stuff, but damn this was satisfying to watch
Crazy how you could hear the air being sucked in when they were hand cranking the engine talk about compression
@Unique SP yeah i know that but its much more pronounced on this engine plus the compression ratio of a diesel is naturally higher than a gasoline engine
Yeah I thought that was pretty crazy too. Never realized there was that much compression going on without it actually running.
when being a car youtuber and having your car break is a good thing . its more CONTENT
ohhh while burning them 4 rubber cakes, you can play a remix of the wheels on the bus go round and round XD .... looking forward to see it come together :D
What you said in the last installment of the SB saga, 100% correct. But man, i think that if you'd consider the hill and climb it, you could still make a better adventure buss out of an old truck (actual truck, not utility truck) and one of those half containers. Imagine being able to configure any format you want + towing ability and painting a HUGE Gingium letter sign on the sides of the container/camper. I mean...think about it. And yes, i know, big hurdles, but man that'd be cool.
Now is the time for an epic front bumper build...
The SPOOL BUS lives on!
That Truckwurx guy looks like my childhood friend, but he 100% isn´t him because I am from Europe.
Don't have a clue what's going on with your engine rebuild! But I enjoyed watching. Lol! 🙏💙🐦🦋🐛🐊🤗💜
300 INLINE SIX.
Tough, durable, repairable, damn-near bulletproof, lots of low-end, used in pickups, dump trucks, tractors, anything. Racecars with the short-stroke, running upwards of 10k rpm.
I repeat, 300 INLINE SIX!
The 6.0l is my favorite diesel once it’s bullet proof, can’t beat the sound of it. I love Cummins but it’s a whole lot harder to make the same power as a 6.0l with just a tune and exhaust..oh, and lastly you should put compound turbos in it lol (haven’t watched the vid yet, don’t know if you mentioned it already)
Interesting to see your 100 subscriber video and now your building a engine for the adventure bus. I am planning on getting a bus and converting it. I watched your conversion video. I'll bet you learned a lot about pulling bus motors, I know I sure did. The whole long hood is really so the mechanic can run the rack and swap parts. I didn't catch what model engine that was, it looked like a silver 92 but I doubt that would be in a school bus. Are their liners and pistons or is it a piston in block set up. I was kind of supersized that they didn't re ring the engine, but like he said when he was turning it over that it had plenty of resistance so the compression must be good. OK good luck well done sir.
Been searching locally for a good mini bus and finally found it. Hours after talking with owner to set up a meet I get the message "there's a deposit on it" so pissed i can't sleep. Glad this bus build is very distracting in a good way. #BusEnvy
OMG do something about all that rust in the bus please!!!!
Hey you made it on the wheel house donut media underrated car channels and they said that more people should watch you
The almighty bang bus gets down with bigger turbos!
dude yes this is a odd build that I am stoked to see. make that diesel roar!
good time to put a newer front end on it.
Make sure to give extra support guys!
That trans is gonna be hot hot hot
It'd be nice to have some merch again fam
Do you have anything planned in terms of transmission? Maybe something more modern that is more efficient, so less drivetrain losses and better fuel consumption.
FPanka he sadly would need more money than he has for that
The music was good in this one
A big variable geometry turbo would be cool AF!
The stock one is actually VGT! We could get a bigger VGT or a dual ball bearing.
Dude haven't got any notification of your new vids! Even with a notification bell on...
The number of patrons has at least quadrupled in this past week or two :O
Yeah ging upgrade everything you can afford to while it’s out. It’s the best thing to do don’t bankrupt yourself
The last engine was fire, but this one seems a lot cooler
Tosfabu not in the slightest..... ford engines like this are shit
That was good 😂
I like how surprised he was when he found out the head gasket was blown lol
It's crazy how many things rely on pressure in an engine also you should get the app torque and the obd 2 port reader the app says too
Once the Adventure Bus is back up and running, Gingium needs to complete a “new engine” break in process, before roasting the back tires (assuming he hits his next Patreon Goal).
All the people saying "Well maybe it won't crank forever now" After working on several hundred 6.0s, all of them are like that. Maybe not as extreme, but they all take a while to start.
I think you should try and paint or do something with the underneath of the bus so it doesn’t get so rusted out
at 5:03 I was expecting some rotary B-roll or to see a sleep deprived Rob Dahm.
Team Gingium is coming for you Cletus. Watch your back.
Hell yeah!
Seems like a good time to do the front end conversion since it's all apart.
Boy that's a lot of work 😳
Slap the turbo from the bus on the drift truck to make more power. it would be so sick
Pretty much free power
Keep the Ford E-Series content coming!
honestly, I would have loved the idea of a 3.5 ecoboost swap. Stock reliability as well. 400ft lbs of torque on a stock motor pretty much. In my experience we've had 2 6.0s around for work trucks, they like to break down a lot.
Gingium road to 1 millon subs almost have way there
Love everything about your vids man! Keep grinding
It's fun to rebuild engines don't forget transmission in case it doesn't blow up
New turbo for spool bus and old spool bus turbo in Molly 😎
Just a crazy idea... team up with Jehu Garcia and build an electric adventure bus?
*tesla bus let's go*
BIGGER TURBO?!?! Yes please!
Can’t believe you’re leaving the piston cylinders and rods alone while taking apart an engine that far that is blown up
Be thankful it happened at home and not on a road trip
wow another cool project
YHEAY BOI! New chapter!
Love the vids keep up the amazing work also make that bus as fast as possible
ford has a special bracket that goes on a cherry picker for the 6.0 in the e-series comes in handy
