I was very happy with longevity and not cracking with Girodisc on my f80 with its stock calipers. I have since switched to the AP 9668 kit and my rotors are fairly cracked/heat checked after one season. I will be trying the Girodisc setup as well.
If you're going Girodisc, email ApexPerformance.net and see if they can give you a better price than what's listed on their site. I got that tip from another track junkie and it made it worth it for me.
I ran AP 9660 with Ferodo 3.12 on my M2CS, predominantly at VIR. The performance was undeniable (easy 2:08s), but… the initial investment, consumable cost, and depreciation of the kit was difficult to stomach. Pads would last 3 HPDE weekends, rotors no more than 7. It did let me run 18” square setup on Ventus RS4, though. I put 19 track days on those tires and threw them out before they even got to the wear bars.
Without knowing if you are interested in another option, you can send a used rotor to Coleman Racing and they will make them for you for cheaper and based on my tests, longer lasting than AP.
@@FaRKle0079 My caliper is the previous style before the Radi-CAL's came out (CP8350). The Coleman rotors do last much longer than the AP's. I tend to choose the heat treatment option when I place an order. With the AP's, I tried everything to make them last more than a few races. Heat treatment, cryo treatment, trying to bring them slowly up to temps on the warming lap, but nothing would stop them from getting micro cracks that eventually get all the way to the edges in just a few events.
@@GRPE696 How many vanes do the coleman rotors have? Or do they duplicate whatever you send in? I didn't see a field for that on their custom brake rotor setup sheet.
@@FaRKle0079 Not sure on how many vanes. They don't copy designs, just the size of the rotor. I've called in every order I've placed. Give them a ring, they are very knowledgeable.
Unfortunately not, since you can't run OE discs with this kit and vice versa. I kind of indirectly did that though in the below two videos: Essex/ AP Racing Brake Kit Overview: ruclips.net/video/sXIvwwtCon0/видео.html M2C Bake kit overview: ruclips.net/video/jaWHSf_khZc/видео.html
I haven't run the Girodisc yet. Might have to check back in a year or two, haha. The AP lasted me a bit more than 20 days, but that's going to be highly dependent on the track.
Where u been love the content on f8x
I know, I know... It takes me forever to edit these days. Such is life with really young kids, haha.

Wow, 19 days on R-S4! How much did performance drop off from fresh?
@@FaRKle0079 hard to say! I was a novice driver and improved over the course of that year
@@lucassganderlla7305 Ah got it. That makes more sense. I feel like if I got R-S4 to that many days I'd feel the tires are done done done.

Oh, thanks for the tip! I've never heard of them before. Are they lasting longer than your previous AP V1 or V2?

Sorry this is a reallld question but where can we ask questions? I need a lil conversation concerning suspension. Plz 🙏
Can you change thickness of the disc keeping the same calipers??
For the front, yes. 9660 and 9668 calipers can use up to 36mm thick discs.
Very interesting! Do you have the official reference for the V2 AP Racing ?
Essex/AP never released any official announcement of the V2 rotor or its changes, but will acknowledge they did the revision verbally.
Wil u inculde comparison to oem disc?
