The hot dog is the only foodstuff where the more mutilated, split, sliced up, diced up, spiral cut, hacked to pieces, overcooked, charred, burnt, blistered and unrecognizable it is, the more delicious it becomes somehow. Lately I've become addicted to homemade Nathan's hot dogs cut on a bias on both sides and air-fried til crispy and bubbling, but these look like some dogs worth traveling for.

Yes, a garbage plate episode would be great! Also hot dogs at Ted’s (Buffalo), Dogtown (Rochester) and Heid’s (Syracuse). You Could even make a Buffalo wings and beef on weck episode for an ultimate road trip! Love the videos!
I agree Western NY has great hot dogs. Rochester = White Hots, Red Hots at Bill Gray's and the Garbage Plate at Nick Tahou's. Buffalo has Ted's with amazing char-grilled foot long hot dogs.
No! Do not do a video on garbage plates. There are enough of them and it's schlock, crap Americana gluttonous shame. If you want a cheeseburger, go to classic chrome diner and have a quality one. Don't pile on the burger, macaroni cheese, tater tots, baked beans, cole slaw, split hot dogs all squirted with mustard and ketchup. If you want a hot dog, you get a quality one like Walter's with a side of beans or cole slaw, not the cheap quality meat in a garbage plate with all of the other cheap stuff.
Whenever I've cooked on a flat top I've always split hot dogs down the middle and I've never heard of Walter's until now. I also add x cross score marks that look great after grilling. Doing both helps the heat penatrate to the middle of the hot dog.
As someone who went to Mamaroneck High School -- just across the street from Walter's -- I can fairly say I've eaten more there than anyone else who subscribe to you, a legacy of eating hot dogs that goes so far back the stand was barely 50 years old when I first ate there. Back then, the menu was more limited, the marketing non-existent and the only place to get those incredible hot dogs was at the original stand -> this was decades before food trucks became a thing. Former residents of Mamaroneck were known to drive hours to return to eat. You aced two of your choices, the standard hot dog and curly fries, both standouts for many decades. On the shake front, back when I lived there, there was just one type and if was thick -- they put six scoops of chocolate ice cream into each chocolate milk shake, and the richer, chocolate flavor matched perfectly with the curly fries and hot dogs. The location across from the high school made it even more of an institution as students would line up during lunch breaks. My favorite time to go was before Saturday afternoon football games in the fall. In the many years since I left Mamaroneck -- and I left for good in the mid-1990s -- I run into other alum who are either much older or younger than me but we share in common the bond of Walter's: everyone still craves them. For those who don't know Mamaroneck, it's a community with harbors on the Long Island Sound halfway between NYC and Connecticut. It was also Hollywood before Hollywood --> the original film studios were in NY and not LA and many of the stars and major producers and directors bought homes in a ritzier part of town called the Manor. It's a 35 minute train ride to Grand Central Station and so a popular place for those who work in Manhattan to live. As for pronunciation, the word is a Native American name translated as "the place where the sweet waters fall into the sea" and we locals pronounce it "Muh-MARrow-Neck" with the emphasis on the second syllable. The other long-standing must-eat there is Sal's Pizzeria, especially their Sicilian slices.

I was like, this woman really has a chip on her shoulder.
@@TrainsFerriesFeet Utica is not something to flex on either🤣😂
@@JimKimTheIdeaHunters Not at all!
UA = best reviewer on RUclips.
Ann's Dairy Cream, Glen Burnie MD, just outside Marley Station. The Mexican restaurant across the street, Plaza Garibaldi, is also excellent.
The curly potatoes look good, although the dipping sauces of shitty ketchup and mayo are waste.
The hotdogs themselves, look not good at all. In Europe, we can get 100x better looking ones anywhere.
my favorite hotdog joint is Rutts Hut in Passaic
Great review. Chicago has the best dogs !! You don’t put ketchup on a hotdog 🌭
Ketchup is fine. A much worse thing is when people put soy sauce on rice at a Chinese restaurant
That SPLIT and WRINKLED hot dog looks like the same one that my GRANDMA made before she died in 1970......( HA )......Her last name was WALTERS and she was part owner of WALTERS AXE factory with her brother MORLEY in HULL, CANADA......WOW, I say.......
Mamaroneck guy here. Mamaroneck is not upstate. Upstate starts just north of White Plains.
Sorry bud, Westchester is barely above NYC. It is NOT upstate NY by anyone's definition.
LMAO Westchester County definitely isn’t upstate NY. It’s literally 40mins north of nyc
This type of architecture exist in European royal house as well.
UA I beg you, please flip the video so it’s not backwards. It’s so annoying seeing you backwards adidas cap. Step it up a bit, it’s simple video editing.
1919 - the peak of car culture? WTF? Try the 1960s bud and even then, you weren't even a glam in your father's eye.
The regular hot dog looks great. There are lots of different mustards but it’s hard to improve on Heinz ketchup. Curly fries look good too. Pass on the milk shake.
i live in winston salem n.c...and there is a place called pulliams hotdogs thats been family owned for 114 years...good as heck
Rutt's Hut in Clifton!
Mamaroneck isn’t considered upstate New York. It used to have a great hot dog restaurant on the Post Road call Cooks. A favorite place when I was a kid.
UA happy new year
“World Famous” - the American owner probably never travelled outside of NY state…
UA we finally hear your gf🎉
Rutts Hut Clifton NJ
It's on the list!
I love hot dogs and I understand that some brands are much better than others, but it's the chili that each establishment has to offer than makes them stand out. I wouldn't even think of ordering a hot dog without the special recipies of chili each place has.
Mustard & fries go AMAZING together! ..& stop closing yr eyes when you chew
Rudy’s in central New York has the Hofmann hot dog 🌭 . Best I’ve had
