Places like this are for people who love their grandparents. You can't buy into that atmosphere. Time machine + hotdogs, for $5 bucks. Very fair price.
@@Captain_Clark_CDoryAdventures imagine how sad your life must be to get mad about someone calling your favorite weiner's crap. He isn't wrong though, unfortunately.
I 100 % do not get the hype with this place. I keep buying them when they come to my town for a food truck festival, but inevitably I bring them home and put some of my own toppings on them. They are very boring as is. Please go to Mr Macs Canteen in either Monroe CT, or in Milford CT, They have Hummels (I believe) grilled with some seriously hot homemade chili paste type chili that is worth the drive. I get chili, cheese, mustard, onion, and bacon bits. and they don't charge extra for the bacon.
Hey Chris! Sure you could have gotten 10 singles but do you really want to eat 10 buns? That's a lot of carbs. Great content as always, cheers from South Western Ontario, Canada!
Go with your opinion man! You know hot dogs you get some great dogs where you live and work other people don't get that variety so their score is going to be very different. Same thing happens to me with crab cakes here in Maryland. Love your content.
People love Walter's for the unique hot dog blend, grilled dogs and buns, and yes that mustard. It is a simple, unique hot dog that you really cannot get anywhere else. You are spot on in that it is the nostalgic feeling of going to a drive up joint that makes it a destination.
No offence, but you said a lot, but nothing of substance, and a lot of contradiction. Most of your points I will ignore, but the phrase "it is a simple, unique hot dog that you really cannot get anywhere else," is so backwards I'm not sure how many beers you had to write that. It is simple, and lacking. Literally a dime a dozen, the opposite of unique. You can get this anywhere. Walters is lucky that Chris is a nice guy and doesn't rate places as bad as he should, but Walters deserves a 4-5/10. It's passable, and that's it. You're right that it's nostalgia that keeps people coming back, because in a blind taste test, their weiners are nothing. Chris was good to point out the mustard is good, but I feel like I've had that mustard before, I just cannot point my finger on it. But if your only speciality is mustard...yeah that's sad.
@@SummerSausage1 What substance are you looking for? Where in Westchester NY can I try a dog prepared similarly? I simply added local color on what people say about Walter's here in Westchester, NY.
@@adamdambrov2308 Sure, if you want a passable weiner in specifically Westchester NY then you're right, Walter's is the only place to go. But in your original comment you didn't say that. You said it was "you really cannot get anywhere else," but you can get it anywhere else, sure just not IN Westchester other than Walter's. It's not a good weiner objectively. It's a good atmosphere, good prices, and that's basically it. They are a very fast operation so the employees just want to clock you out and get the next customer, which makes sense because most people are returning customers, not tourists. The weiners itself are just average weiners that you could find anywhere else in Manhattan, and NJ. If you actually read the reviews of Walter's you will see a similar divide. There's only two kinds of people; the person that comes here for the nostalgia (atmosphere) and loves it, and the person who came here thinking it was going to be a good weiner and was let down.
Love your videos, they looked pretty decent. You could have gotten four singles and made yourself two doubles. As far as condiments go.... being on the side that allows you to control your own amount. Not too much or too little. That alligator on your shirt is fancy.
My fave is the G&G truck in red bank, NJ close to the train station. Lol I get a double dog with spicy onions and kraut. No grill, just beef dirty water dog.

Pricing is definitely strange, five singles is $5.25, you get five buns and five dogs. A double is $5, and you only get one bun with two dogs? Whoever orders a double is a dummy! For those wondering, these prices were for the 105th anniversary, hence the $1.05 price tag, for one day only, limit 10 per order. Real prices are $3.20 for a single and $5.75 for a double.
Westchester is upstate?... ha! If you actually come upstate to the capital region, I'd say similar to Walter's are the local classics of Famous Lunch in Troy and Gus' across the river in Watervliet. These type of places are local favorites and have history... they're good (not great), and been around a long time.
I would sneek down from the school at lunch, the dogs were .15 each and 2 for a quarter [1965]-supplied from a meat company with pork-veal-beef to their specs, when the company went out; they got Boars Head - not the same taste p.s.the ''secret sauce'' is only butter on the grill-much better years ago
I liked the history and the story of the brand. They've been around for 105 years for a reason. But you are right, I could have gone a little lower if not for they history.
Forgot to mention that your video on “Snap-O-Razzo” hotdogs are available through Ralph’s and Kroger grocery stores and you must’ve brought them luck because they’ve been offering for the last few weeks. Buy one get one free packet of their different flavored all beef hotdogs. It tasted pretty good, but I still enjoy more a jumbo Nathan’s hotdogs! (not able to find any more Nathan‘s natural casing hotdogs here inSouthern California, only skinless)
I got Walters hotdogs, by a “gold belly restaurant delivery kit”, and to be truthful. It wasn’t impressed with the hotdogs and like you I don’t like my hotdogs split. The instructions said that I should split the hotdogs and grill them up the way they do at the restaurant. But I wasn’t impressed with the hotdog itself and of course I paid more than a dollar a hotdog because it was through gold belly, which I do appreciate as a company.
Your review was on point. It's a great place for history but the hot dogs are just ok. Btw, The pagoda/Chinese architecture was designed to be eye catching from the road in the days before RUclips reviews and foodie influencers let people know about a place. For a place in Westchester with great toppings, try Dog Den in White Plains!

Hi Chris , Great Video . I Think 7.9 Was A Little To High. After 105 Years I'am Sure They Could Do Better. They Most Likely Were Better Back In The Day. No Onions, WOW They Should NOT Offer Hotdogs Without Onions.
I have not been there personally, but I'd have to agree with you. Positive points for grilling, negative points for not being natural casing, splitting the dogs. And how do you not have sourkraut and onion sauce available in NY?
In our small town when they have a hotdog of hamburger fund raiser supper my wife and I always bring our own condiments like onions, relish, lettuce and tomato and cheese. They typically just have mustard and maybe ketchup.
Different folks different strokes. Some peoples like beans with their chili? Texans don’t. Cheap foods need a good disguise? Like mustard and chili to cover up the wiener taste. It’s all about the bun and wiener? To me.
Bro why do you look so familiar? Were you on TV? Not being funny or trying to be rude if you were/are… honestly just asking? Did you live in the Bronx?
Prices make no sense...You would think they would discount for the "double" or a possible "triple" like burger joints do. They must be so good no one cares though.

I believe their claim to fame is that the hot dogs are made in house so it is supposed to be the freshest and very little preservatives other than what is natural such as salt.
