It’s reasonable that a restaurant/deli undersalts if a lot of their client/customer base is elderly and have to carefully monitor salt intake.

This happens like every video. The most expensive portion of the meal sits on the table forever... he eats like potatoes or something.. then complains the meat is cold. It's like .. bro.. come on. You can even see how good the meat looked as soon as it came out.. and how old and dry it looked by the time he ate it lol

I think the reason the pastrami is not tender is because he went there at 10AM. Pastrami if it sits in a steamer for many urs. f y get there right when they open the pastrami came out of the refrigerator not the steamer. A New York egg cream is just milk, chocolate syrup (it really should be U-Bet brand syrup), and seltzer (carbonated) water. It contains no egg, nor cream. The one UA had at that place was not a real egg cream because the milk had to have been dairy free, probably almond or oat. Since Pastrami Queen is kosher, they cannot serve any dairy products with their meat products.

Langers in LA is still # 1 in regards to there rye bread we agree to disagree Langers bakes and slices their in my opinion one of the best kosher ryes on the planet . Katz’s would be my 2nd choice I’m a little biased as that’s how my family made our seed money before selling out our portion a generation ago but the last time I was there I was actually going to Russ & Daughters to get their amazing fresh baked bagels with a light shmear and some of the finest Nova Scotia Salmon as well as some Matjes Herring and a few other breakfast treats but technically I can bypass the line at both Katz’s and Russ & Daughters but the line was just so huge we didn’t want to get killed even using our no line VIP status lol 😂. So we decided to have an early Sunday Brunch at Katz’s and for the first time it was very disappointing I actually only had one or 2 bites from my Pastrami as well as my Nephew we packed almost everything to go and handed the leftovers to a few homeless men in front outside with a few cups of fresh coffee . So majority of the time you can’t go wrong with Katz’s but every iconic joint has a few bad moments especially since the Dale family bought it as well as Sarges . The last time I ate at Sarges a few years ago it was filthy and the food was inedible. Keep up the great work UA . I’ve been watching your channel since it was a newborn infant and I enjoy all your reviews. Congratulations on the full time Vlogging Gig 🎉. Sincerely Robert Katz

Always important to remember with pastrami, the price point is generally from all of the time it takes to turn a raw brisket into a pastrami which on an average is between 2-3 weeks with the pickling process. Now obviously this is a general estimate being that the prep times will differ from restaurant to restaurant. Even the best restaurant have off days.

Just so you know, 2nd Ave and Pastrami Queen are legitimate Jewish delis because they are actually certified Kosher. Katz's, Sarge's and most others are Jewish style delis, they are Jewish style deli's because they aren't certified Kosher. The meat that Pastrami Queen, 2nd Ave, Ben's Kosher, Liebman's and several others use are Kosher and supervised so that you can count on cleanliness and the highest possible standard for meat.
As far as the soup, I am not sure what you're complaining about in terms of the portion size, you almost never see two Matzoh balls in the soup and the bowl looks like a pretty generous size. Also, I don't know why you think clear broth is the best for Matzoh Ball soup. The broth in my opinion, should be full of fresh herbs especially parsley, dill and pepper. When I make Matzoh Ball soup, it's full of fresh herbs and I serve it with chopped parsnip, carrot and celery. It's much heartier and in my opinion, better tasting soup.
Also not sure why you think the egg cream is not healthy. It's made from pure chocolate syrup, it's not actually loaded with artificial syrup and there is no dairy in the egg cream. There actually couldn't be dairy because Kosher restaurants that serve meat cannot also serve dairy. It's probably a lot healthier than regular soda.

Langer's in LA is the spot for us here on the west coast. Simply delicious. There's a family owned chain with a hand full of locations called "The Hat". I find their sandwiches salty. Not nearly as good as Langer's. Langer's is like artisanal high quality. The Hat is quicker version. It's good but not as special as Langer's. Also, one of the key things The Hat is good for is their chili cheese fries. You have to get it with all of the toppings (onions, tomatoes and pickles) imo. The last time I went thought the portion sizes have noticeably diminished by maybe 20%. Prices have gone up and portion sizes are down. Still worth a shot.

Is it possible that they purchased the pastrami from the premade deli pack and just cut and heat it? I knew one Greek restaurant that just took the stuffed grape leaves out of a can and the spanakopita from a local bakery. The stuffed grape leaves was absolutely terrible and the spanakopita was delicious but annoyed that I paid twice the price for takeout when I could have just purchased it directly from the bakery ( had I known) in advance). The owner’s wife told me after I expressed how disappointed I was with the stuffed grape leaves. 😡

I can remember the old Pastrami Queen on 3rd ave, I often use the location they moved to at 78th and Lexington. I did hear they opened a UWS store. The pastrami here does not look much like what is served at 78th. Also I'm amazed at the bread, looks much blander than what I'm used to. Please understand I am not objecting at all to your comments which seem totally fair about this place, which seems a much more pleasant dining environment compared to 78th St, which is a horror and even take out is a mess. To be honest, I doubt many New Yorkers (at least in my age group) do not make pilgrimages to pastrami shops. If on the LES, maybe Katz's or used to be 2nd Ave deli. If you live in the E 70s or 80s, Pastrami Queen. If you're going to one of the clinics in the 30's, maybe Sarge's. Too bad no more Carnegie Deli.

I believe you can request hand sliced and you certainly can ask for it to be served warm.
Also as someone whose father had an old school candy store with a fountain when I was a kid I can tell you a couple things:
    - best enjoyed without a straw
    - should have a white head if made properly.
In addition traditionally a Dr Brown's soda or a hot tea would be the traditional beverages with Jewish deli meats.
I suggest you try a cream soda with some milk added as a great substitute for a vanilla egg cream.
And have you tried a tongue sandwich...also request it warm and I suggest requesting some onion for and Jewish deli dandwich.
I also found their matza ball soup very bland...2nd Ave deli is far superior

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson famously spoke on a public phone at the 72nd Street subway station. As far as Pastrami Queen, I definitely need to pay a visit. Usually in that area, I would get sushi at Kumos or stop at Cold Stone for shakes. The pastrami prices are a bit crazy. Knish Nosh on Queens Blvd is a ripoff and they don’t offer what this place does (plus they’re not in Manhattan). But it seems you really can’t win price wise at a lot of old school delis.

I think you should try the original on the Upper East Side ....The original is on the Upper East Side on Lexington Avenue... it has a whole different taste to it... although it is owned by the same organization... same place the one on the upper west side is recently opened...it took over another Jewish deli ...the one on East side has had that crew together for many years...
I suggest you go to the one on the Upper East Side then I have the best onion rings and french fries I've ever had in New York ...people Rave about this delion the UES... you can't even get a seat it's a tiny place on the Upper East Side...
Pastrami Queen is kosher...Katz is not Kosher and the meat it's not kosher they call it kosher Style...lol
A restaurant is either kosher or not Kosher ......
There's another great real kosher deli in Williamsburg call Gottliebs... I suggest you go to try it out... Katz is laughable Customers think they are going to a kosher deli and wait on line pay for expensive kosher meat and it's not kosher at all LOL

I agree 100% with your review. Many people told me to get the one from Pastrami Queen and I found it kind of bland and meh. For me the seasoning was lacking and it wasn't as soft as I thought it would be as well. I thought Katz's was much better. But I didn't like the one from Hometown BBQ. That one was way too fatty for my tastes.
